I have to admit I've been drinking their coffee for some time. This roast retakes World responsibility to another level. They believe in fair trade and quality product. And then bring that to each and every customer that goes there. They also watch the roast very closely so people get the finest coffee Blends that they can possibly get. Because this comes from smaller Farm Dairy is the quality control is a lot higher on the selection of beans that they have. As you approach their modest establishment on the corner you immediately noticed that there's a nice comfortable outdoor seating so if you wish to have your coffee and sit outside and people watch at the main intersection of downtown Mill Valley Village then this is the place to do it from. Inside you'll find a full tray of coffees and things to satisfy your appetite. The people that work here are knowledgeable about their product and willing to help you discover the perfect cup of coffee. I will continue to be a good customer. Oh by the way here's a little tip. If anybody's making waffle sandwiches in there you better grab yourself one cuz it doesn't get any better. I love anything they put on a waffle seriously. Stopped by with a friend for breakfast. I love the feel and look of this place. I ordered the Brie and avocado waffle and a mocha! Holy smokes was that a delicious waffle---I love the idea of a savory waffle and they know how to do it! The waffle was crispy on the edges and soft in the center. The Brie was in the waffle, so when you cut into it, it oozes out! The avocado, tomatoes and pepitas sit on top of the waffle with this lovely dressing! So good. The coffee is awesome too! Karla and I now have a new favorite place to visit on our Sunday morning bike rides, summer evening walks, or before taking in a movie at the Mill Valley theater. The coffee, which is how Equator got its start, is amazing and many review stars ahead of those ubiquitous, "grande" chains we find everywhere for Peet's sake! But let's not stop with a cup of superbly brewed java. Equator has many more deliciously interesting secrets to discover. Their waffles for example, are crazy good and that's just the beginning of their creative new food menu. Personally, I was perhaps most surprised to learn Equator also serves wine ... which actually goes nicely (don't laugh) with a waffle IMHO! Yes, it seems Equator has found a way to tempt our taste buds and satisfy our tummies during just about every possible time of day or night. I love this place. Been here a few times. The location is awesome. I love the layout and how it opens on to the street. Very welcoming and open. The coffee is great. They recently added a scratch caramel latte which is really delicious and I love sweeter coffee drinks so it's perfect for me. I recently attended a Yelp event here and can say this small business really appreciates yelpers. I love supporting local businesses when I can and this place makes it easy. They have awesome bites and it's pretty cool that they've added in some alcohol selections as well. Definitely support this place. Great coffee, food, drinks, and community. read more

My go to stop before hiking, also probably one of the last places to you can get coffee before driving up to Marin Headlands. This or Safeway, I promise this is better than Safeway. Cute store, limited on space; it's a hit or miss depending on when you go. Anything more than 8 people starts to feel like sardines in a can. read more

My favorite coffee. Ever. I alternate between their americano and cappuccino, and I have never been disappointed. Their drinks are always consistent, which is much more than you can say for many other local coffee shops. The coffee and espresso at Equator is top notch. It is rich yet bright, and every coffee type that I have tried has surprised me in the best way. The people that work here are all very nice and quite talented. WoW. I have been a fan of Equator for a few years now because of the quality of their product. That quality doesn't stop there. It's also in the quality of their service. I have wanted to check out this location since the day I saw their sign on the building of them coming soon. I was fortunate to find a parking spot right out front. I stepped out of my car and realized I still had mud caked to the bottom of my boots; I had just come down the hill from visiting a job site. I walked around the corner to one of their side windows; where their baker was working away on some delicious looking waffles. I interrupted her and asked if I could place my coffee order with her; explaining that my boots were muddy and I didn't want to dirty their cafe. She very kindly took my order and it was ready in moments. ALL the while the baker was very kind to chat with me versus just letting me stand there awkwardly until my coffee was ready. She even asked if I'd like cream or milk and asked the barista to bring some over. The barista kindly poured the milk for me. Each person involved was very kind and provided service with a SMILE. I'll gladly stop in the next time I'm in the area and I'll be sure to have clean boots on! read more

Love it. Locally owned and they offer great coffee and bites. My goodness their waffles are to die for. I've tried multiple and they're all delicious-both sweet and savory. I always order an iced coffee and it's just right every time. The place itself is quaint and if I lived a little bit closer I'd probably be here a little more often but I definitely come whenever I'm nearby. Otherwise I normally go to the one by the freeway. Their location is great, the atmosphere is enjoyable (I love the outdoor area complete with blankets for cooler mornings), the staff is friendly and skillful, and the drinks are delicious. Finally found a great place to get coffee here. I've been here about 5 or 6 times now and they always serve up a great latte! It can be a bit noisy in there as I've noticed they can sometimes play their music a bit loud but they do have a nice space outside to sit and there is the plaza right across the seat. The service is ok. They aren't exceptionally friendly but I've noticed that seems to be a theme here in coffee shops around town. I'll definitely go back for the amazing lattes and the outdoor seating. One thing I wish they would have is a few more gluten free options. Perhaps a muffin or something? I don't always have time to wait for their waffles. So 4 stars for the coffee and seating and minus one star for the slightly less than friendly staff and the lack of gluten free options. read more

Their almond milk cappuccino was one of the best almond milk cappuccinos I've had, if not the best. Creamy, strong, and excellently poured. I ordered the blueberry GF waffle, which you could not tell was gluten free. The coffee shop offers several GF options, including great salads. My mom ordered the vegetable quiche, which, sadly, only had one tiny zucchini in it (when she eventually found the "seasonal vegetables"). Still, the coffee & my blueberry waffle made up for it. Great for breakfast lunch or even an early dinner! Funny experience there today. I asked if they had any holiday drinks, and a barista literally turned around and stared me down. For the record, I asked because I hate Starbucks and Peet's holiday drinks because they are too sweet for me. Legit coffee places tend to have holiday drinks I actually like. So that response was pretty dang pretentious to me. So if you like that kind of think this place is your jam. The other times I've gone the drinks have been good, and they have good lunch options. I didn't know much about coffee, heard from a friend that Equator is a solid third wave coffee company. I went in and Joseph with a red beard made me a cappuccino that was probably the best in my life. I asked him about purchasing beans and he took the time to come behind the espresso machine and show me the realm of single origin coffees they had to offer. Through a very informational chat I landed on Ethiopia Sidarma Ardi and it's probably the best coffee I've had in my life. I am not a huge coffee drinker, I typically will order a chai latte and OH.MY.GOSH. they have the best chai that they make in house. I used to go for the full fat milk chai latte, but then was introduced to their cashew milk chai latte that is out of this world. I can't go back to the cows milk after that. Its basically a meal with how rich and creamy and decadent it is. It is totally worth it. I have been to a couple of their locations and the baristas are super friendly and knowledgeable about what they are brewing. It is a nice change of pace from your typical starbucks or peets (no offense to either place). They put a lot of care into their craft, and it shows in how delicious their drinks are. read more

I've tried Equator a couple of times before, just not this location. Had a meeting there yesterday and I do have to say that I am becoming a fan. The single origin coffee is very tasty. Rich, full-bodied, mouth-filling and brewed (or pulled) beautifully. The foam for my cappuccino wasn't quite up to snuff but I'm chalking that up to the HUGE line that was going out the door for lunch. I mean, I am realistic after all. I had the Brie & Avocado Waffle and my friend had the Blueberry. No brie on top so I'm guessing it's in the batter, a quarter of an avocado, tomatoes in a lovely vinaigrette and plopped on top. The Blueberry with lemon crème craîche (seriously, one of my favorite combinations), a little sweet, a little creamy, a little fruity. Oh, and did I mention that the waffles are actually caramelized in the waffle iron a little...? Ah-mazing! My biggest recommendation to this flagship location? Do something about your bistro sets on the sidewalk, they are cheap, flimsy, and horrible to eat/drink at. I ended up drinking half of my coffee from the saucer, spilled my water, and flatware fell to the ground because the table wobbled *every* time we moved (and that was even after I stuffed cup sleeves under to try and stabilize it). read more

Sure, the lines may be long at times, but that is because it is well known for its fabulous food, teas, and coffee. Some days I go there twice - once for my morning coffee and a visit with friends and then an afterschool snack with my kids. The crowd is welcoming and diverse. And kudos to the owners, Helen and Brooke, for taking such good care of their employees in the shops, as well as on their coffee farm in the highlands of Panama. read more
