Epik is so awesome. Been coming here for years and everything is always great. Lots of vegetarian and vegan options that are actually good which sets them apart. I order online regularly and they always get the orders exactly right, and the staff is friendly. Monthly specials are so cool too, I love the Hawaiian burger especially. Today we went here for a quick lunch and try the yelp to order. When we got there available seating was minimal . The line was long. We did not think we would get out quick. We were wrong. The line moved steady. The seating was cycling available as more people arrived in line. The behind the counter refills were never slow. The turn over for our food was better than average. The well trained staff handled the rush very well. The food we ordered was made to perfection. Our drinks kept getting filled just as every one else that was there. Had lunch here on a Tuesday around 3pm I think and it wasn't busy at all. Small joint, kept pretty clean. I ordered the regular poutine, the garlic parm fries, the mushroom Swiss burger (w/bison instead of ground beef) and the Elvis milkshake. Burger was phenomenal, fries however were extremely salty. Not sure if it was the sauces or the fries themselves but I couldn't even get through them. Besides the saltiness the flavor was actually good and it was put together well. The milkshake! Best part. The Elvis is a banana, peanut butter and BACON milkshake. Delicious! The bacon part sounded kinda odd at first but then I thought about it and it sounded good so I ran with it. Best decision ever. None of the ingredients were over-powering they all complemented each other well! Give it a shot! Only rated three stars cause those fries made me feel like I was drinking ocean water. So second time coming to Epik and I haven't even gotten my food yet and Richard already makes me never want to come back or just not come on sunday if he will be here. He has zero customer service and I didn't feel welcomed in the slightest. My friends and I decided hey let's drive to Epik burger from GA. We enter Epik and we pick up some menus on the wall so we can try something different this time. Richard came from the behind the register to the front of the store and instead of greeting us he just states just so you know we have a 40-50 minute wait for food. Richard then walked away with not as much a hello welcome to Epik burger or anything. I was already quite annoyed behind that, we placed our orders and requested military discount and Richard said you're not in uniforms. as this didn't happen the first time, I was a little confused. I just said no we aren't. Last time we came the prior cashier just thanked us for our service and gave us the discount, Richard then stated "that's because he doesn't know how to do his job, I was told directly by the owner only military in uniform. Because everyone here doesn't know how to do their job it makes my job harder. So no, you're not in uniform no discount." I just felt so unwelcome, I probably won't make another 45 minute drive down for such terrible service and treatment. Which sucks because the food I thoroughly enjoyed. However I won't spend my money where it's obviously not wanted. To all the other service members I hope you aren't treated with such contempt and lack of respect . This place has a ton of different burgers and a ton of different options for any dietary restriction or food allergy you could think of. You can get beef, bison, salmon, vegan patties as well as lettuce bun or gluten free buns. They also have a dedicated fryer so French fries and onion rings are also gluten free. I had the 1.5 pound boss burger and a side of fries. It was absolutely delicious and next time I'm in town I would love to come back and try some different menu options. read more

Having been epically disappointed on my first visit here just after they'd opened in 2013, I decided that when I moved back to Jax, this place would not be revisited. After all, the Korean BBQ burger I ordered then was a tiny, dry beef patty with a few pieces of kimchi on top and the fries were not cooked. I guess in a moment of curiosity, and after hoping that things may be better 4 years later, I stopped back in. This time, I ordered the Epik BBQ burger ($7.99), a Southern banana pudding shake ($4.49), and truffle parmesan fries ($3.99), for a grand total of $17.51! Woah! And again...the burger was not good. As many other yelpers report, they haven't mastered the art of cooking a burger the way a customer requests it. Medium well should not be overdone and dry and my meat was indeed dry...again. Thank goodness for the barbecue sauce - which tasted like a mix of Polynesian sauce and barbecue sauce - and the slaw which added some moisture. The fries were at least cooked through this time and they were crunchy but the parmesan cheese essentially just sat in a pile on top. And the shake had a strange plastic aftertaste that kept me from being able to drink it. For the price, you would expect gourmet burgers, excellent fries, and amazing shakes. Unfortunately, they still have execution problems with the food and the price is not justified by the product. read more

I tried Epik Burger for the first time and I have to say I was really impressed! First off, they have so many seafood and vegetarian options!! This is so difficult to find at a burger place. I loved the variety. I ended up going with the BBQ salmon burger and a side of loaded garlic parmesan fries - both were delicious. The BBQ sauce was on point and the onion ring was a great addition of texture to enhance this burger. My friend ordered the Korean BBQ vegetarian burger and she loved it as well. They are pretty quick in getting the orders out. So although the seating area is a little small, it didn't feel cramped because people were in and out fairly quickly. The burger was medium done. The bacon, pancetta, Brie, lettuce, tomato all went well together. The truffle fries were super delicious. W/ Real Parmesan cheese. Expectations are everything, and we went to Epik Burger expecting to be blown away with "the best burger in Jax." We weren't. The burgers we had were just ok. Not great. Not bad. If I lived in the area, this might be my go to burger place. One burger was made to order. The other was not, but they corrected it. Though, it took them awhile. Also, don't bother with the milkshakes. They have a variety of flavors, but the two we had (a chocolate and a banana) tasted fake the way a McDonald's milkshake tastes. read more

Yup, another 5 star review! I've been waiting to come here for quite a while. One time I thought I'd get my chance, they were closed. Well, opportunity knocked- and I went. I'm sure glad I did! The menu consists of tons of different and unique burger assemblies, in beef, chicken, salmon and veggie. In addition to a bunch of side items. You get to pick your patty, then your bun and then your preference. They offer buns ranging from Brioche to baguettes and everything in between. I ordered the BBQ Epik burger and made it a meal. This gets you a side item and a drink. The burger came with slaw, white cheddar and bbq sauce as well as an onion ring. I opted for the sauce on the side and nixed the onion ring and got a side of cheese fries. Burger- epically great! No exaggeration, phenomenal! The cheese sauce was so cheddary and sharp it was absolutely cravable! Then there was the fries, battered and crispy- mouth wateringly good. Then there was that cup of their bbq sauce....it was like a combination of bbq and duck sauce with what tasted like pineapple or some mixed fruit in it. It was like liquid candied perfection. I dipped my fries in it, OMG! So good. My friend ordered a buffalo fried burger. It was a patty cooked and dipped in buffalo batter and then deep fried. He also ordered their 4 cheese, cheese fries. He was shocked and also said he can't wait to go back. On a side note, they offer 1/3 pound patties or 1/2 pound patties. We are big eaters and couldn't finish our lunches and we both ordered the 1/3 pound patties. So keep that in mind- you'll get a ton of food! Epik Burger lends a South Korean taste to Burgers. If you appreciate a good southern bbq like I do, then you will enjoy the same spin done to your burgers. I had the guacamole burger with a delicious and creamy honey butter milkshake. I read online that honey butter was incredibly popular in South Korean cuisine. I can see why. Yo, Jax! What gives with the lackluster reviews? I just had me one of the most glorious burger adventures of my day and I can't wait to share all the juicy deets! Let me tell you how good this burger is. It's so good that even though I received a medium(ish) cooked burger rather than the medium rare burger I had asked for, it didn't remotely affect my burger-eating experience in the slightest. Epikurean Burger - extraordinary on every level. The juiciness from the meat alone has me frothing at the mouth all over again. Listen to this list of toppings: Maytag Bleu Cheese-Truffle Mousse, Pancetta, Mushrooms, Blackberry Jam, Balsamic Mayo, Green Onions, Parmesan Cheese. What shined the most were the mushrooms, the blackberry jam and the truffle mousse. I've never devoured a burger so quickly in my life. 10/10. The Truffle Parmesean Fries were freakin' awesome, too! Like I mentioned in a recent review, no ketchup required. I think that's a pretty high compliment if I do say so myself. The flavor coming from the truffles were completely bonkers. I do acknowledge what other Yeeps have stated. The prices are a bit high -- especially since you have to add $1 for a half-pound burger (standard = 1/3 pound). Having said that, this was one of my all-time favorite burgers. Perfect execution from start to finish. And that deserves 5 stars in my book! read more

When I was a little kid, I used to go to a lot of baseball games. The big leagues. Sat there, eating peanuts and hotdogs and crackerjacks, filling out the scorecards and soaking in America's pastime. If there is something that defines what it is to be an American, baseball is right up there. You know. With apple pies. And um, apple computers. And burgers. The hamburger. An American tradition that brings to mind summer barbecues, good conversation and memories that don't include killer hornets, viruses or the nightmare that is 2020. Darn it, can't we, just for a little while, let our minds wander back to those nice, simpler times? So, with those nostalgic thoughts in mind, my wife and I decided to check out Epik Burger. We've wanted to try this place for a while now, but it just never seemed like the right time. Today? Today was that time. And with a name like EPIK BURGER how could we go wrong? Here's the thing though. I find baseball kind of boring. The whole scorecard thing? Never really understood it. My cousin and brother knew how to fill out the little squares, color in the right bases. Use the right shorthand. Me? Not so much. And the food at the ol' ballpark? Well, its all sushi, pulled pork and $25 craft beers these days. But back when I was a kid? A steamed, wet hot dog in a soggy bun and a flat Pepsi. Ick. sigh. I really wanted to love Epik Burger. I really did. But, like baseball, I guess it sounds better than it turned out to be. Now don't get me wrong. The staff was fantastic. The woman who took our order was bright and peppy and answered all my questions. And I had several. Because the menu is like taking a college physics course. And you're an English major. There are kinds of meat, sizes of meat, bun types, vegan, gluten free, it just goes on and on and on. Thank goodness there were a few named burgers on the menu that I could just point to so the I didn't have to think so hard about what I wanted. Don't walk into Epik burger thinking that you're just going to wander up to the front and say, "gimme a burger," because that will result in a long string of questions, multiple choice answers, and perhaps a computational model or two. I ended up getting the mushroom and Swiss burger and my wife got an Epik burger. That one has brie on it. If we simply tried to build a burger then I'm pretty sure we'd still be there now. Ordering. But, I will say that the burgers were tasty. You do wait for a while though. I guess with all of those options it takes the staff a while to find all of the ingredients back there. Don't expect this place to be like fast food. You will wait a while for your order to be ready. The brioche bun was a little big for the size of the burger. Its a fine line of bread to burger ratio, and this one felt a little off. Maybe with a larger sized burger (which you can do. I think there are 72 different sizes, maybe 32 if you get the salmon) the bun works better. We also shared a side of sweet potato fries. They do know how to cook sweet potato fries. Too often places undercook them. These were done well and were very tasty. Lots of people were also ordering the onion rings and shakes (well, maybe not together. Unless they took their Lipitor beforehand) but we didn't try either. Although they did look good. Look, Epik Burger was a decent hamburger place. The best burger in town? No, neither my wife or I thought so. But, if you are in the area and are looking for a burger place, it's not a bad idea. Just be prepared to have to really think about what you want your food to be. There's nothing epik about this place. My husband ordered the midnight special. The burger was presented very nicely and smelled delicious. I ordered a pretzel bun, received a gluten-free bun. I ordered crispy bacon, and the bacon was barely cooked. We also had onion rings, which were swimming in the oil, they were fried in. The cheese fries were delicious. We both ordered chocolate milkshake. He had the Ghirardelli's chocolate shake. I had the chocolate vegan chocolate shake. They were both delicious. Our bill came out to $57.71, which is high. Epik Burger was far from epic, and an overall a disappointment. Firstly, this place is way over priced. Burger was okay. Very sloppily made, and not very impressive. A quarter pounder from McDonald's is heartier and a quarter of the price. For what I paid for a burger, fries and a drink, I would have been better off going to a Ted's or Poe's. Epik Burger... Or Epik Cheese Sauce? My friend mentioned EB about a year ago and because I'm not a huge burger fan I didn't jump at the chance to review a new place. The biggest con for me (besides the burger) was the menu! I was overwhelmed and almost wished I could've seen pictures of each burger because they all described themselves so well :D Thanks to Doorstep Delivery we ordered: Two 1/2 pound bacon cheese burgers that weren't memorable, but I will say that the brioche bun was tasty. Onion rings that didn't have much flavor, but I appreciate the fact that it stayed together! There's nothing worse than biting into a onion ring and the whole onion coming out for the party ;-( Epik fries, and the bacon cheese fries which were both great! It is becoming harder and harder to stand out as a burger restaurant in Jacksonville because now there are several places that have great burgers. The burgers at Epik are similar to what you would find at Mshack or BurgerFI close by. Epik serves fresh, cooked to order ground beef patties. They are locally owned so that is also a plus. They have quite a large selection of burgers, sides and milkshakes on the menu. The restaurant itself is clean, casual and charming. I had the Breakfast Burger which has fried egg, bacon and onions. It was pretty tasty and the egg was cooked perfectly and provided an extra layer of flavor to the burger. I'm all in on the egg on burger bandwagon. My only complaint was I wished there was a little more spice/seasoning on the patty itself. The Buffalo bacon cheese fries were pretty solid as well. French fries topped with Cheese sauce, buffalo sauce and Bacon can't be wrong. I can't say this burger joint is EPIC but it definitely is an option in the ever expanding "fancy" burger restaurantsphere. read more
