I've spent so much time at Eola in the past 3 years, I'm surprised I haven't left a review yet. This is a neighborhood spot. No parking lot, no rowdiness. You'll have to street park for sure. It's the perfect place to go read a book, talk to friends, work, enjoy a light bite or sandwich, maybe even a desert. It carries that vibe. The best thing about this place is their wine selection and cheese boards. It's all natural wine and the prices are insanely economical and no cork fee. The cheese boards are so pretty and they also offer all vegan cheese boards as well so I can always bet on bringing my veggie friends too. Robin the GM, is a pure sweetheart. She will do everything and anything to accommodate you. They've recently updated their outside patio furniture. Note: You can only sit outdoors here. With the exception of single seats indoor by the window. However they offer more seating now and more comfortability. With the nice weather approaching - this is your place. They also have free wifi. I was looking for something light and tasty and not in Dowtown to avoid parking issues or crowds. I have heard of them in IG and other forums, but I always forget when I am in the area. So glad I finally did! You can park around the shop and it is not too hard to find a spot. Most of their seating is outside and there are a couple of hightops to sit inside. They have a selection of not only sandwiches and charcuterie, but also wine and local kombucha (in a can). Everyone is super nice, friendly, attentive and happy to answer any questions or make any suggestions I ordered the Sunrise Bagel (egg, bacon, tomato and arugula) with an asiago herb bagel and the garlic chive spread. It was delish! The flavors blended so well and everything looked and tasted super fresh. It came with their homemade chips, which I got a pleasant surprise to feel a bit of a spiciness, very tasty. I had the canned Living Vitalitea Spiced Roots kombucha and it was refreshing and delicious. Not overly spicy or tangy and it is made locally! I oftentimes opt to make my own salmon bagel platters at home because these bagel places leave me unfulfilled... But not Eola General. Omg. I've been hearing about the bagel sandwiches here FOREVER and finally found friends to try them out with me. These bagels are everything you've wanted and more. I ordered the Nova Lox, and now I may be certifiably addicted to this bagel. It was SO GOOD. First of all, the cucumbers and tomatoes taste like they were freshly picked out of someone's garden a few minutes ago. Definitely the freshest tasting veggies I've had in so long. The lox were delicious, and there was a good portion of them in the bagel. The capers added great flavor... And those house chips were the perrrfect side to this delectable meal. My friends got the Sunrise bagel and absolutely loved it. One of my friends ordered their meal with an Asiago bagel, which was one of the handsomest bagels I've ever laid eyes on. They said the turkey bacon was incredible... They are also picky coffee drinkers from Miami, and they were impressed by the coffee here... which is saying a lot. Fortunately, I got to try my friend's lemon dill cream cheese... oooohhhmahgawd. I want to spread that cream cheese on every bagel in my life from now on. Their vegan sunrise sandwich is a tasty bagel sandwich made of just egg patty, vegan mozzarella cheese, tomato, arugula, and cream cheese (they have three vegan cream cheese options!) It's quite overpriced, but I always go in with that expectation. What I do not expect, however, is the repeated disrespectful treatment from the owner. My last time there, I ordered a latte at the counter. The barista did an excellent job, preparing it and set it on the counter; as I was attempting to add my condiments, the owner came out and yelled at me about not spilling coffee on her laptop, which was laying beside the condiment area. First of all I was way too shocked. At the way she spoke to me to respond immediately. As a grownup and a remote worker, I am fully aware of how to care for a laptop around food/drinks. As a business owner, perhaps it is her responsibility to secure her laptop and/or not leave it next to where people are trying to prepare their coffee. I literally could not believe what I was hearing. On a previous occasion, I had brought my friends (who are of the same persuasion as me) to the wine tasting, since we are all members of a wine group and like to sample different varietals. While we enjoyed the experience, it did not go unnoticed that the owner promptly removed the opened bottles that were part of the tasting instead of letting the patrons finish them (since we had all paid). Some of the regular attendees pointed this out so she brought them back, but everyone was wondering why that week was different. Once again, it feels like due to the exclusive Thornton Park location, the owner wants to project a certain image, which, despite me owning a home in the neighborhood, I and my friends do not fit into. I really don't feel the need to overpay for the privilege of poor, discriminatory treatment. Let me start by saying that it is a bit high in prices ($4.80 for an everything bagel and cream cheese, add a dollar for a tip and you are in for $6.00 for a bagel) and on this Sunday morning there was a bit of a line. I dig the ambiance, though there is only outdoor seating. Eola General's inside appears much as I would envision a general store to be back in a forgotten time. Service was a bit slow, I am sure that the line contributed to it, but the girl at the counter seemed harried and a bit overwhelmed. So, how was the $6.00 bagel? I guess that's the million dollar (or at least $6.00 question). The bagel was pretty good. Again, i had the everything and my cream cheese choice was jalapeno, cheddar and pimento (it was this cream cheese or the spinach, artichoke and parmesan cream cheese). My boyfriend and I are new to the Orlando area and we have walked by Eola General a few times while walking our dog, Heath. The outside of the store is a beautifully decorated and shaded patio area. The people in the community are very friendly and we often see people relaxing outside with a drink, some food, and their pups. Today we finally decided to walk in and check out the inside of the store. We were greeted by Robin and the rest of the staff, all of whom were very friendly and welcoming. This location has some good options for cheeses (perfect for a charcuterie board), plenty of options for wine, beer, and other non-alcoholic beverages. The menu has plenty of options to choose from and specifically has vegan/vegetarian options as well! After taking our time looking at the menu, we got the Sunrise Bagel Sandwich and the Nova Lox Bagel Sandwich with a bottle of orange juice and cranberry juice. Both of our sandwiches were excellent! With the perfect amount of spread and good portion sizes for the ingredients in our bagels, we were very happy with our choice to eat our breakfast here! I can't believe I had never been to this gem! My boyfriend got a giftcard from a local who swears by this place - so we had to go check it out. I had the most amazing breakfast sandwich with a tasty veggie schmear, some sweet bacon, and other various toppings. I'm definitely I intrigued and want to go back for more. This place is walking distance from Lake Eola and surrounded by the beautiful Lake Eola Heights historic neighborhood. The place itself is historic - with a plaque that states the building is circa 1937. Walking inside feels modern and clean, but you can still imagine yourself shopping there back in its original heyday. There is indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a variety of beverages and the fresh bagels are by Swan City Bagels. Other than Bagel King in Winter Park - this might just be my favorite place to grab a bagel in town. Add in $5 mimosas and a large variety of other beverages, and I can't see why anyone in the area would ever botherr going anywhere else for breeakfast or brunch! read more
