I love wine so I did the wine tasting at Cooper's Hawk Winery & Restaurant. I like that they have sweet, semi-sweet, and variety selections. I opted for the sweet wine because I like more flavor. I tried 8 different wines. They were all good! The bartenders were friendly and knew their wines. They were good at explaining the different flavors and selections. The bar area for wine tasting is first come, first serve, so it was crowded by the time I got there. I suggest getting there early if you want to grab a good spot. They do tastings all day every day so going during the week might be a better option if you want to avoid crowds. I went on a Friday and even though it was crowded, the vibe was nice. Cooper's hawk is such an amazing experience. Me and my boyfriend recently became members of the wine club and it was 10/10 worth it. You get 2 free bottles of wine, a complimentary glass of wine when you dined and you get 2 free wine tastings a month. It was definitely worth the membership. They have different tiers but we wanted to save all of our sweet treats until dinner. When we first arrived and after waiting for our table. We decided to redeem our free tastings. We had three options and were able to choose one wine tasting out of the three. We got to try 8 different wines and took 2 of those wines home for free. Such a great experience At the dinner table we decided to redeem or two glasses of wine while we waited for our appetizers. We We ordered calamari, salmon , dumplings and omggg everything we ordered was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The mashed potatoes were also really good and don't get me started on the salmon. This was the first time me and my boyfriend actually sat down together ate at Cooper's hawk for dinner so I really enjoyed this experience. We chose this restaurant for my mom's birthday. I'd give it about a 3.5. Walking in to the restaurant was a beautiful winery esque vibe, but omg it was so loud! In the front area as well as the dining area. We had a reservation for 8 but arrived about 7:45. We were seated shortly after 8. There were a lot of people waiting and this was a Thursday night, so I'd say reservations are necessary. Now for the food - I didn't take a picture of the true star of the show, but the bread was amazing! Very soft and fluffy and it was warm. The egg rolls were pretty tasty, and I enjoyed the chunky green sauce, as well as the ranch on the side. For my entree, I had the Parmesan crusted chicken and it was decent once I added salt. I liked the thin cut of the chicken. The mashed potatoes were great. Very creamy. I also chose the broccolini which was ok. There was a little sauce on the bottom of the dish that had a lemony flavor which helped the broccolini a bit. My mom had the steak and shrimp. Portion size was tinyyyy. This was my first time going to Cooper's Hawk for brunch and it did not disappoint. We were nervous it would be crazy on Easter Sunday, but they were on schedule for all reservations. They even had an Easter bunny roaming around to tables, I thought that was kind of fun. What I liked best was the menu/options. They had their typical brunch menu, their dinner menu and a special menu for Easter, so everyone could find something they were in the mood for. We wanted to do the wine tasting (first timers) the area where it is hosted was crowded and there was only 1 person pouring last night so we didn't end up doing it (they close at 9 M-T) We were seated and we had the best service from our waiter, Tre. Very vibrant, and fun wine tasting area which I could see being a great reason to come back. We did order a few bottles to take home and check out was separate from the tasting area and expeditions. The restaurant experience was a bit mixed as someone at my table specifically ordered a flight of non-alcohol wines and they included a riesling in error!!! Who serves both on the same flight???? It was a multitude of errors from the server, the bartender and the drink runner who just dropped off the drinks and disappeared without even telling us which ones were which. The ambiance was on point, prices on the brunch menu were pretty good, no major issues on service (it did take about an hour for food to come out, but it was a large group). It's that the food was just ok, and I'd put up with a hole in the wall and slightly rude staff if the food is amazing. I ate it all so I can't say it was bad, but I wouldn't order it again. Part of it is that I've never had that much sauce in a "hash"? (Brisket hash was what I ordered). Our daughter introduced us to Cooper's Hawk (CH) when she lived in Virginia a few years ago. So when my wife was visiting our daughter and grandson, Cooper's Hawk came up. She was looking forward to drinking their rhubarb wine, and getting a bottle or two, that she can't find elsewhere. After I picked my wife up from the airport, we made our way to CH for a late lunch. Our first impressions were mixed. As always, the entry was inviting and the counter was packed with people sampling their various offerings. Problem was, there was no way to tell where to go for dining in. There was no hostess to greet us so we were looking for servers to direct us where to get seated. I was actually contemplating leaving until someone finally came out. The hostess checked with someone and then she led us to the bar area, not asking if we were good sitting in that area which turned out to be loud. We were presented the menu and, knowing what we wanted to order after perusing it online, my wife ordered the Leonard Burger ($19.99) and I tried the Chicken Giardiniera ($24.99). My wife also ordered a glass of rhubarb wine...only to be told they don't have that and they've actually discontinued it. Of course the website still has rhubarb wine available. The server had us try their strawberry rhubard wine instead but that has too strong of a strawberry taste. It took a long while before our meals were served, something like 20-25 minutes! Good thing our server provided delicious bread with butter. My wife liked her burger, commenting how the patties were smaller than the bun but thick and flavorful. The fries were hot and crispy. The pickled dill, while huge, wasn't cold nor crispy. My dish was decent, with a slight hint of vinegar. I wasn't expecting it to be soupy but it was good. All in all, with the loud bar area, the very long wait for our meals and the rhubard wine, my wife has been looking forward, to not being available this was a less than positive experience for us. So much so that we joked it probably would've been better if we just went straight to the COSTCO for their hotdog meals. Although we later found out COSTCO Business Centers don't have food courts! We stopped into Cooper's Hawk for a late lunch, and it turned out to be the perfect casual dining experience. Importantly in that area, there was plenty of free parking in a large lot behind the restaurant. It was a beautiful day in Orlando, so we chose to sit outside. The patio was shaded, comfortable, and a great spot to relax. I did take a peek inside and loved the vibe of their Napa-style tasting room and wine shop. It's definitely a cool place to hang out and enjoy a glass or two, but today was only about lunch for us. I ordered the pretzel-crusted pork chop, and it did not disappoint. Even though it was the lunch portion, it was plenty of food. The maple glaze added the perfect touch of sweetness, the mashed potatoes were rich and buttery, and the roasted broccolini was cooked perfectly. The bits of candied bacon were a flavorful addition. Our server was super friendly and an absolute pleasure to work with, which made the meal even better. Today I took a chance and ordered the chef recommendation which was butternut squash ravioli with Maine lobster, shrimp & scallops. I have a favorite dish here and was expecting to be disappointed but to my surprise, it was very good! Today's visit fell VERY short on the service. We were disappointed and surprised at the level of service today. This isn't the first time but we certainly hope that it is the last. Food wise, we got a few things to share with the table and a few entrees including: drunken shrimp, house made meatballs, gnocchi carbonara, Parmesan crusted mahi, key lime pie for dessert. I could rave about the drunken shrimp. First time having bacon wrapped shrimp and it exceeded all expectations. I still dream about this appetizer. IMPT. UPDATE: Went back to exchange, and I was gifted extra wine and a sincere apology hug! Love you C.H! Ok... lesson learned: never go to a wine pickup right before a holiday. Today was not the vibe. As a wine club member myself, I stopped by to pick up my bottles--and wow, some fellow members were downright inconsiderate. On the "quick pickup" side (key word: quick), one member decided this was the perfect moment to browse the entire wine list... slowly... selecting bottles one by one. Ten bottles later, the line was 12 impatient people deep. On the other side, another couple--clearly fresh from the restaurant, half-empty bottle in hand--parked themselves at the counter for a solid 20 minutes asking questions and browsing the menu. The employee was entertaining them as if there wasn't a whole line of people just trying to grab wine and go. I'm all for great customer service, but a pickup counter isn't meant for extended wine consultations. It holds up everyone else, especially on a holiday week rush. And the best part? When it was finally my turn, the employee rushed through me to get to the rest of the line... and handed me the wrong wine. So instead of Winter Red & Winter White (perfect for mulling tomorrow), I came home with Light & Bright Red & White. Didn't notice until I got home--ugh! Now I either have to go back to Cooper's Hawk tomorrow... or make a last-minute Publix run for mulling wine. No love lost for my Cooper's Hawk, but, not my best visit today! read more

It's been a long time since I've been back to CH, but everything was still as I remembered. It was a packed Saturday night at the wine tasting bar, so my 2 friends and I waited about 30 minutes. We tried 8 different sweet wines. They were nice and fruity so I enjoyed them all, except for the riesling which was flat compared to the others. There was a strawberry rhubarb wine that we tried and that was probably my favorite. We had a dinner reservation right afterwards so the timing was perfect. We were greeted by our server as soon as we were seated. I wish I had remembered his name, but he was friendly and attentive to our table checking in on us frequently. He saw on our reservation that we were celebrating a birthday, so he brought some truffles at the end of our meal. For our meals, the 3 of us ordered the surf and turf. I usually enjoy the soy ginger salmon entree but chose the filet medallions and salmon this time and everything was delicious. I ordered my filet medium well and it came out perfectly. The vegetables were grilled well done how I like it and the mashed potatoes were just enough. I felt like my salmon portion was small, but maybe it was because I was used to the entree portion of the salmon. For our beverage, we shared a pitcher of white sangria that we couldn't even finish, but it went fantastic with our meals. Overall, we had a great time. The pretzel bread and butter was such a fun start to the meal. It's simple but addictive and sets the tone perfectly. Who can say no to warm pretzels? Not me. The egg roll appetizer was excellent and honestly one of the highlights. Crispy, flavorful, and packed with just the right balance of ingredients. If you go, do not skip this. (period) For the main course, the short rib with mashed potatoes was outstanding. The meat was tender and rich, and the mashed potatoes were creamy and full of flavor. The plate came with the sprinkling of fried onions and a few stalks of asparagus to round it out. It's one of those dishes that feels comforting and elevated at the same time. And then there's dessert. The chocolate cake was decadent and absolutely worth saving room for. Rich, moist, and paired perfectly with the presentation. We used two of our complimentary wine tastings, and our sommelier, Kharis, was absolutely wonderful. After the tasting, we stayed for dinner and had an excellent experience. Samantha was our server and she was fantastic -- very communicative, attentive, and gave great recommendations. We started with a few appetizers: the Classic Tomato Bruschetta, Chicken Potstickers, and Sweet Chili Calamari -- all delicious. I ordered the Soy Ginger Atlantic Salmon and it was flavorful, perfectly prepared, and cooked really well. I also had a chocolate martini, which might honestly be the best in the city! What a great experience and it's all due to the fantastic service by our wine steward, Chelsi!!! My neighbors invited me to a wine tasting here as they are Club members. We decided to do the Lux Tasting menu for an upcharge of $5.33 each (Club member price) and we were so glad we did. We received 8 tastings and could select the recommended wines or switch over to the back of the menu for selections we could choose instead of the recommended tasting. The main reason this tasting was five stars (and way above other businesses I've experienced) was the expert service by Chelsi!! (International Drive management, please recognize this individual!) Not only was she personable, friendly and easy to relate to, but her knowledge of the wine selections available was also impeccable!! We arrived a little before 1pm and she attended to us as if she was our own personal sommelier. She discussed our preferences for taste, sweetness and red or white varieties and recommended an appropriate sample, when applicable. She knew the ingredients of the wine, the flavor and taste sensations and the appropriate appeal based on our input as to preference. We could not have experienced a better wine steward than had we visited an actual winery. Kudos to Ms. Chelsi! We then stopped for some appetizers at the bar (the brussels sprouts, the beef sandwich and the chicken dumplings were outstanding), along with two more bottle of the Cooper's Hawk Cabernet Sauvignon to finish our afternoon adventure. Although our overall afternoon experience was five stars, we all agreed Chelsi was the key to this fantastic afternoon. This location is massive. I didn't even walk around the entire other side of the restaurant. The bar area is to the left after walking in. We literally couldn't hear ourselves think or have a conversation amongst ourself at the table. When I made the reservation, I expected a more upscale and relaxed vibe, but what I experienced was the opposite. The food itself was just okay nothing memorable to make up for the chaos. The bisque soup wasn't freshly made, tastes like it came out of a can. To top it off, when getting my friend's car from valet, one of the attendants made a rude comment implying we didn't tip, even though my friend had already tipped the valet who retrieved the car. Went here for my birthday dinner after a long day at Universal! The food at City Walk didn't seem exciting and I wanted some wine, so this was a quick 5 min uber away. The ambiance wasn't spectacular. It was cool up front and at the bar but looked like a slightly renovated Applebees in the back. Once they dimmed the lights and started bringing wine out it felt more elevated. The service was slow at first. Their website showed a ton of reservations open throughout the night so we figured it wouldn't be busy, but it was. We ordered a bottle of wine and I asked for a gluten free menu, and the wine came about 10 min before the menu. However, we switched servers part way and our next server was wonderful and attentive. The wine, if you get a bottle at the table, is served from a REALLY cool aerator/dispenser. I LOVED it! I hadn't had a good experience with Florida wines during my trip, but did find the Pinot Noir to be lovely. We ended up getting another bottle to take home. They had gluten free bread that was so good! I felt really included. We shared the brussels sprouts and WOW! They were divine! Best I have ever had. I got the seafood risotto and it was lovely. They've got a section in the front where you can purchase all things wine related from glassware, tableware and of course wine! I've been to this location a few times and each visit was wonderful. This particular location is in the heart of Orlando's touristy area so parking can be tricky. I recommend coming on a weekday or early evening. I happened to find parking spot close to the entrance. It was a Monday evening so I got lucky. I came here to meet a friend for dinner and of course wine. My friend has the wine membership so he ordered two bottles of the Vin Veloute.... One for us to share and the other I got to take home. If you're a smooth, silky red fan like me, order this. It paired well with the Madeira chicken and the soy ginger Atlantic salmon. I know what you're thinking ... red wine with fish? Yes!!!! Just try it ... you'll thank me later. If you're not familiar with the different wines, I recommend coming in during happy hour so you can try out their Wine o' Clock menu. They've got a little bit of something to satisfy every palate. If you're a light bodied wine drinker, Pinot Gris would be a good choice. Every time I've dined here, I order a different dish and so far everything I've had is delicious. My husband and I dined in the bar area where they have high-top tables and booths. We were graciously greeted by their hostess and seated right away. Our server was very kind and friendly and immediately took our drink orders. I ordered Chicken Madeira, with mashed potatoes and roasted Asparagus. Absolutely delicious! My husband ordered their Pork Chops with mashed potatoes and roasted Broccolini. Again, absolutely delicious! We indulged ourselves with a Chocolate Espresso Martini for dessert! Yum and double yum! The ambiance of this restaurant is very cozy. By the way, they no longer have their lights in the dining area blazing like the previous time we were there. Happily, one email to the corporate office took care of that issue! We had a very pleasant evening! Also, if you're a wine lover, and a lover of delectable chocolates, you must check out their retail store, which is connected to the restaurant. That's my worst experience at Coopers. We arrived there, had some wines until table got ready. Was Sunday night and was crowded only in the tasting area. At table we ordered wine, took 15 min to bring the water and 30 min to bring the wine, they didn't bring the complementary bread (I needed to ask) another 25 min to bring another wine and write our order down. My plate was the trio of tile mignon, I ordered medium but arrived well done, I called the waiter and she said cut in the middle, sorry? If was red on the middle only what I'm supposed to do?
