I was invited to an event at this wine bar on a Thursday night by some friends. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was excited to check out a new place. As I walked into the establishment, it definitely gave off very cozy and comfortable vibes. There were several tables quietly mingling, and dim lighting that made it feel more intimate. I took a seat at a long table with others and we started our tasting. The individual of working was very knowledgeable about the product and super informative about the history of the wine itself. The wine was absolutely delicious and the pours were rather large too. We ended up staying until close playing games and laughing, which made for an amazing night of mingling with some friends. We stumbled upon this no-frills wine bar one day and it did not disappoint. They sell wines by the glass and the bottle, however we asked if we could create our own tasting and they were able to accommodate. We decided to drink two whites and two reds and the pricing would be half the price of whichever wine you chose since they were not full pours. Count me among the other Yelpers that gave this excellent neighborhood bar five stars. Thanks to a recent review of fellow Yelper, Bonnie J., I put this place on my radar and finally experienced this amazing wine bar. Located on East Michigan Street between Shine and Fern Creek Avenues, it isn't the easiest to spot driving down Michigan. (I passed it up by the time I saw the lighted sign and went back around.) However, once inside, you immediately feel the coziness and fun ambiance of the locale. We sat at the bar (based on Bonnie's recommendation) and I'm so happy we did. We were greeted by Amy, who could not have been a better representative of this place. (Sadly, Amy's last day was Thursday.) She asked what our preferences for wine were and then made numerous spot-on suggestions throughout the night. She let us try various samples (for free) to make sure the wine she recommended properly suited our palates. She even discussed Orange Wine (made with the white grapes skin intact, giving the wine its amber hue), then gave us each a sample and we were both sold on it. In addition to the wine, we ordered the International Cheese Board, which was a combination of three cheeses (the feta cheese in an aioli oil base was our fav!), soft croissant bread, crackers, olives, tasty almonds (from Spain, I believe), star fruit and a dab of hot pepper jelly. The jelly was packed with flavor and added to the feta cheese item when placed in the croissant. This is an excellent charcutier choice for pairing with your wine selections. They also have a "blind" wine tasting event on Tuesday, which was the day we stopped in, and you can tell the people seated at the table for this event were having an excellent time. We decided we would try this in the future. Swirlery's also has numerous bottles of wine from around the world available to purchase. Give this place a try. Owner and Advanced Sommelier Melissa is a wonderful supporter of the community, who I've been able to interact with at several events, so I knew that her Blind Tasting would be a fun, judgement-free experience for someone like me who has never been to a blind tasting before. I'm embarrassed to admit I've been living down the street from Swirlery for almost 2 years and it took me this long to make my first visit. Now that I finally have, I 100% regret not going sooner. It really is the perfect spot in the SoDo area to enjoy a glass of wine. I loved the ambiance as soon as I walked in (beautiful and classy) and was so impressed with Melissa & Amy's hospitality. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and Amy immediately greeted us and offered samples of wines she thought we'd like after learning what we enjoy drinking (which is such a rarity since at most places you have to request a sample). She was so informative about the wine options, gave us the rundown of what they're all about (wine club, events they hold, etc) and really made us feel so welcome and right at home in this lovely little piece of wine heaven. We really enjoyed our wine (I wish i recalled what we had but her recommendations were delicious! We are big Cabernet and red blend drinkers). We ordered the charcuterie & cheese board and I absolutely loved the unique touch of the sliced croissant instead of the average baguette usually served. Everything was yummy (we did feel it was slightly overpriced for the portion but everything tasted wonderful, especially the aged cheddar). This is without a doubt going to become my new wine hangout spot and I can't wait to taste more of their delicious wine on my next visit, which I imagine will be in the very near future! This spot is a hidden gem for wine enthusiasts. We stopped by the other night after a show and absolutely loved it. It was busy for a Thursday night but in a good way. They were also giving out samples of Beaujolais wine due to it being "Beaujolais day" which was really cool being able to try some. Inside is decorated nicely with what felt like all kinds of wine on every wall there was. The staff was super accommodating due to the fact we got there about 30 mins before closing. We got to meet the owner and also order the Charcuterie Tray which was exactly what we needed to pair with our wines. What a cool little local gem! My mom couldn't stop talking about this charming wine shop, and finally, my dad and I got to check it out with her. It's a cute place with wines from all over the world. Mauricio was our server, and he's the man! Turns out, he remembered my parents from their previous visits, and he even knew what kind of wine my mom likes. She mentioned a wine she enjoyed before, and he brought us a few samples to try. It was like a mini wine adventure! We found a fantastic wine that all of us loved and got a bottle to share. The best service on this side of town! Not to mention the atmosphere makes you feel like you're in the wine cellar of a vineyard with the owners' collections of wines from all over the world! Meet the owner Melissa at another wine event and i just knew I had to come check her place out. It's small but so intimate. There's wines from all over and they have a $10 corking fee. You can also buy the bottles to go. We went for the vegan street party that will now be every single Wednesday from 6-10 pm. So we ordered some food and then sat down and they had a list of wines that the corking fee was already into the price. I love Swirlery!! We have been here many a time to do grab a couple glasses and decompress. The parking is just off to the side and in the afternoon it's pretty open. Once inside you can sit at the bar or tables. The bar is made of a tree cut with a polished finish. Really neat. I recommend sitting up there if you can. What a gem! It was tricky to find at first but there is a little parking lot in front of the dog groomers and then you walk to the main street and into a little wine oasis! There are various table set ups or seating at the bar. I went for a pairing event and it was fantastic! The staff is so knowledgeable. I was helped and tried the side car red wine, it was amazing! I'll be getting a bottle! We tried 4 other wines and paired them with sweets for valentine's day. Almost all of us found a new favorite wine! She is always willing to let you try a few things to get a sense of your pallet so she can recommend the perfect wine for you...and she's always on point. Wow! Very impressed by this place. It as my first visit, but they've been open for four years. It's a small wine bar with a little parking lot, a little dark inside and FULL of wine bottles. You'd think the owner was a hoarder, but then you realize it's just wine bottles, so you love her even more. I was greeted upon entry and offered a table. I came on a wine and food pairing night. They don't typically offer food, but they partnered with uncommon catering that night to offer Slovenian, Hungarian and Croatian wines with Korean bao buns. Yum! The bartender came by with a large wine list. Most of the wines listed were by the bottle and there were more wines in the shop than on the list! I asked for a buttery, oakey, Chardonnay and Melissa, the sommelier chimed in- get her the Ventanna! She made a perfect suggestion. I loved the wine. I sipped while I waited for my friends and soaked in the place. Lots of locals were coming in. The place was filling up. Melissa served me a sample of a rosé they are going to order. I'm not a rosé fan but this one was delicious! Very atypical. Unique. When the gang arrived, we ordered bao buns and I got half glasses of wine for each bun. I've never heard wine from Croatia, Slovenia or Hungary. These were all white wines and rosés. All were good, but the Ventanna Chardonnay was still my favorite. Staff was friendly and accommodating, bringing us more chairs are more arrived and keeping our wine glasses and water glasses full. We shut the place down! We did not feel rushed. Bathroom is stocked and clean. Parking is minimal so come early, Uber or park on the street. Bring your wallet and a shopping bag. There are a lot of bottles for sale at great prices. Bottles you can't find most places. We bought two different reds that night and enjoyed them there. One was $30, it was a supertuscan. The other was a California can, $75. Fantastic little whole the wall place right off Michigan in Orlando. Parking can be difficult at times, but tonight was worth it. There was a pop up event that catered food at this normally wine only establishment. My favorite wine is moscato and they only had it by the bottle which was fine. The bottle was tasty and affordable. There is a larger menu option for other reds and white wines and the staff are knowledgeable. I found out about the Swirlery wine bar almost a year ago when there was a Yelp event promoting the place, and I'm really glad to see that they're still in business and doing well. What I personally really liked about this place though is that the bar tender was very helpful. He asked us what we all liked and he allowed us to try a couple of the wines until we all decided on one and we bought a bottle for all of us to share, a bottle which I might add, only cost $15! So we all sat at one of the tables and drank, talked, and we all agreed how nice and relaxing it was. One of the persons that was with us isn't into wine so he ordered a beer that the bar tender recommended to him and he was really happy with it. So yes, they also have beer. Loved this tiny spot! Joined a small group of lovely ladies for a girl's night out! This is a small wine bar with a nice, kind of "lounge-like" ambiance with friendly employees and servers. We were to have a wine tasting of about 5-6 different organic red and white wines. The tasting was at a $10 price (pretty awesome for 5-6 cups of wine) and it was offered by a wine connoisseur who was very knowledgeable, offered tips on pairing, gave interesting details on each wine and was very patient and friendly with us and our chattering. 5 stars for a fantastic little wine bar. I first checked out Swirlery, located on Michigan Street, at a Yelp event a few years ago when it was first opening up. The venue is rather small and the event was packed, so I didn't really enjoy the experience. Fortunately, I have gone back to Swirlery over the years and found that this little gem is a place to experience with just a handful of friends (especially good for really small groups during the COVID pandemic) while relaxing with a few glasses. What is it that makes this spot a gem aside from the cute interior and excellent wine selection? The answer to that question is the owner, Melissa. I've come across lots of knowledgeable wine people who can tell you where a certain bottle is from and make recommendations, but Melissa's combination of knowledge, warmth, and tailoring is unmatched. Each time I have been there she will ask questions and make awesome recommendations both with the first glass and all the subsequent glasses. She doesn't try to push anything on you (which you also feel from the venue also offering beer aka something many other "upscale" wine bars think is below them) and works to make your experience very enjoyable. Her and the venue also permit you to bring in outside food and keep the doors open to allow for maximum airflow (again good during the pandemic) because her goal is to allow you to have the best time possible. Overall, Swirlery is an awesome wine bar with a great selection and service in an intimate setting. As long as the crowd isn't too large, you are pretty much assured of having a relaxing and fantastic wine experience. read more

This is a movie night for them but beforehand there was a wine education class and tasting hour from a distributer who imports organic wines. The organic wine was really great and all though I don't care for dry wines, I enjoyed them quite a bit! We had about 5 pours of white and red wine and the bill was $10. Nice! I would definitely stop by again if I'm in that area. The staff there were really nice and treated us well. They also have beer in case you're not into wines that much. One tip on parking.
