I've been an Enterprise customer for over 30 years, renting cars domestically and internationally for both business and personal travel. I'm very familiar with the brand and what "good" looks like, which is why the Turlock, California location has become such a serious concern for me. Over the last three years, this location has been consistently unreliable and poorly managed. Reservations are frequently not honored or "lost," even when customers arrive on time with a confirmed booking. I was in the office recently and heard another customer being told their reservation could not be fulfilled, which has become a common theme here. At that point, the purpose of a reservation becomes questionable if there's no car available when you arrive. Vehicle quality and preparation are also recurring problems. I've been given cars with fuel so low that within a block of driving, the fuel light turned on and I had to stop to fill up. I've received vehicles that smelled like marijuana, which is completely unacceptable, especially for business travel. I've also experienced cars with mechanical or servicing issues that clearly should have been addressed before being rented out. What's particularly frustrating is that this location actually showed signs of improvement under the last manager, but it has gotten worse again with the current leadership. Pricing feels inconsistent, customer experience has declined, and the overall maturity and leadership presence at this location are lacking. The way issues are handled does not reflect the professionalism or customer focus I've come to expect from Enterprise over three decades. It feels like this independently owned location is being allowed to operate far below the standards of the corporate brand. My question to Enterprise executive leadership is simple: why is this being allowed to continue, and when will you intervene with stronger oversight and more seasoned leadership at this location? In Turlock, rental options are limited; going to Modesto or Merced is not always practical, which makes it even more important that this branch meet basic standards of reliability, safety, and professionalism. I'm not looking for another apology. I'm asking corporate leadership to take concrete action: enforce your standards, audit this location, and either elevate the leadership or make whatever changes are necessary so that this operation reflects the Enterprise name. I had to rent a car while at the airport, and from start to finish, every member of your team was extremely friendly and professional. From the front desk to the lot where I picked up the vehicle, the service was seamless and welcoming. Later that evening, I realized I needed to change my drop-off location. I called in, and a wonderful woman returned my call and made sure the change was taken care of. She truly went above and beyond with her customer service--her help stood out the most throughout the experience. When returning the car at the new location(Turlock), the gentleman at the front desk who checked in the car and finalized the rental was also very kind and professional. He even offered to arrange a ride for me, but I let him know I was taking an Uber, as my destination was likely outside the shuttle range. We shared a laugh about it, and it was a great way to wrap up the experience. Rented a car a few weeks ago for a trip, it was so easy and fast it literally took them from the minute i arrived till the minute i left with the car a total of 5 minutes (NO JOKE), i was surprised because at Hertz it took 4 hours to rent a car. Few days ago i had to rent a car due to mine being fixed at the dealer and again i went to this location, i walked in with no reservation, walked out with a car after 5-6 minutes. When you are the only car rental in town you can do what you want and they do! Needed a car bc my car was in the shop. Obviously someone smoked in car and they sprayed perfume to cover smoke. Went to return and ask for a non-smoking car they could not give me a new car. Maybe they thought I would just drive around in a smoke filled car bc insurance paying it. I can't I have asthma. I cannot recommend driving to Modesto to another rental company enough! I have spent over 1 1/2 in the enterprise store trying to get a car that I had a reservation for and now I don't have a car. Fantastic service picking up my rental as well as dropping it off. Everything was very fast I may be spent 10 minutes picking up my rental including paperwork and then 3 minutes dropping it off. I am a gold plus member. On multiple occasions they have rented out dirty cars. I would either wait for them to clean or take to car wash myself. Today, we reserved a 1/2 ton pick up truck. They only had 2 options and both were NOT acceptable vehicles to rent out to people based on dents, dirt, and worn interior. The only options was to downgrade to a smaller vehicle. We asked to be upgraded to bigger Size SUV for comparable size and they would not. I felt like they should have found a way to accommodate based on the condition of the vehicles they expected me to rent. This was for a work trip and did not want to take my personal vehicle. However, we declined the rental once we seen the condition and decided to drive our own vehicle. My recommendation is not to rent out dirty, unclean vehicles to people. Its clear, that they don't properly sanitize if the outside is dirty and seats have spots. Very irritating Friday and feel like customer service, cleanliness or high standards for for product is not implemented here. Ever experience this in the Bay Area, other states, at airports. I response to your question.. there is no rental agreement because we decided to drive our own vehicle due to the unavailability of appropriate rental. read more

At 10:15 I decided to find out where my ride was, oh it's the weekend we don't pick up on weekends. DAMN IT YOU have to let your 800 number KNOW that, IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILTY! This is a rant for all Enterprise and not exclusive to one experience at this store, though, this store reminded me of my distaste for business in the Central Valley and Enterprise's platform. I drove off with my Altima and sat next to a curb caking 3 other stores to get a swap, I don't need to mention how pointless of an effort that was, let alone how pointless it was calling Customer Service, they have zero visibility on what stores are doing/what inventory looks like. So I came back to Carnegie because: 1. Car smells like pets = I It was "scented" with a few sprays and still smells like (expletive here). 2. Customer Service said there are cars (I know better so zero expectations are set). :) 3. I'm still in the car that smells like Petco (no offense to Petco, they should smell like that). I try to use the word "hate" carefully and sparingly, I'm using it today. I sincerely hate 90% of my experience with Enterprise. 1. I've rarely got the car I expected to have. This usually forces an upgrade or settling. I appreciate getting a free upgrade but SOMETIMES, just sometimes, it's nice to get what you reserve. The ambiguity is getting tiring. 2. Asking where we work, audible repeating our home address and phone number for everyone to hear is so 1990's. Get a damn tablet on a swivel and ask us to confirm. Lacks privacy and thoughtfulness that a "family company" should not lack. I started with 2 stars, I'm ending this review with 1 Star. Shame on your business at the front desk level. **Update: from the Thursday this happened, I got an email the day I posted this review and was told I'd be contacted, I wasn't. :) I went ahead and called and was forwarded to risk management, then, after my 3rd call (the first transfer was to a VM, second to Risk Management), finally the right folks. I spoke to a gentleman who actually listened to my experiences. I offered a handful of suggestions of things that can enhance our experiences as customers. He said things are in the works. I will say that, overall, my experience was not remedied at all. I vented, he understood. I have a sister for that. I paid for a terrible experience and I was told it wasn't getting refunded. I wasn't chasing my money but this was a huge turn off and perhaps the sole reason I'm going to start looking around for another provider. Christmas Eve in the morning we drove to Turlock, CA from Salinas, CA (100 miles) to spend time with family for the holidays. As soon as we arrived whiie parking our 2016 Chevy Tahoe the brakes fail completely making it undrivable. We now need to rent a vehicle and get ours back home. I made a 3rd party online travel reservation for a one way car rental to be picked up at this location. The staff at this location refused to honor the reservation under several excuses. The first female employee indicated that they didn't have enough vehicles to rent one way. The store manager Cody then gave me a diferent reason claiming they don't do same day one way rentals. I asked a customer in the lobby if they were picking up and he explained that they were returning. Cody was quick to add that vehicle was already reserved. Instead of offering possible solutions like renting from another location, it felt like both representatives at this location didn't like me for "some reason" and we're set on not helping me resolve the problem. In addition, I called Enterprise direct and they transferred the reservation to Modesto. I'm not sure why, but Cody called the manager of the other location to manipulate the situation. I don't recommend anyone go to this location if you need a reliable reservation. read more

This review is in regards to a representative by the name of "Eric". Where can I ever begin with how amazing the customer service is! I first met him by himself being my representative at the modesto location picking up a vehicle for my wife & my parents. I told him what kind of vehicle I needed & why, & He went BEYOND belief to assure everything went smooth for my entire vacation. Secondly Eric really blew my mind because I was in an accident last December, The other persons insurance put me in a smaller vehicle that didn't fit my amount of leg room. Eric immediately recognized that & fought for me to have the appropriate size vehicle at no extra charge at all. That meant the entire world to me. Eric now plays a role in the vacation side of things with my marriage because now when my wife & I plan a vacation, We prefer to ride bikes & now rent a SUV with Eric. This is the 3rd time Enterprise has really disappointed us. Do not rent here. Employees are rude and unhelpful. We just wanted to see inside the van they were giving us and were told no you can't 'because of the current situation' my husband open the door anyway and the interior of the van was a wreck! We reserved the van 2 weeks prior. I called the night before to confirm the reservation too. We were supposed to leave that morning in the van but ended having to take multiple cars. Went to Hertz I had no problem renting from them no additional fee and I received 10% of for being a AAA member. I will never rent a car from enterprise again Hertz has my business now. read more

We've experienced poor service here. It was so bad that it made us appreciate services at car rentals at airports. Most of the employees working at the airports seem disgruntled or impolite but that's probably because they get a ton of rushing people each day. And at least, they're quick and efficient for the most part. Renting from around your community, you'd think that you'll be given better services and customer care. I guess that's not the case. Picking up the car took us more than a half hour though we were the only customers during that time frame. My husband had already reserved it online but they were calculating a much higher rate than what was given, maybe trying to see if they could get away with it. They gave us a car with less than half a tank of fuel and as we drove away not more than 40 miles away from the town, the maintenance minder already blared its warning alarm: Oil change. Tire service. Damn! It was already too late to head back and get a replacement. Furthermore, what car nowadays do not have cruise control? It pretty much sucked all the way because we had 8 hours of driving on the highway. That's 8 hours of flexed foot muscle! We got to our destination and back. Thank God. Everything was fine until I returned the rental and they had charged my credit card for additional insurance on the vehicle at more than 25.00 a day for 5 days, which I had clearly declined at the time of the rental. When I called the first time, I was rudely informed that the agent remembered clearly that I had agreed to this. (Really? After having dealt with how many customers between Monday and Friday?) I pulled my paperwork and it showed I had initialed that I declined every level of coverage offered. I called back to give them a chance to do the right thing before I contested the charges, but my call was not returned. It took 3-1/2 months, but the charges were finally reversed. read more

I've been renting through this enterprise for a little while now. It is a smaller location, so they might not have the biggest selection to choose exactly what car you want. But every time I have rented they seem to put me in a very nice sports car and I've actually really enjoyed my time renting through them! I was in a car accident recently and my pickup was not fixable. We are in the process of moving and really needed a pick up. The person at fault in the accident had insurance and it paid for a replacement pick up rental. Yesterday we went to get the pickup at Enterprise and we had such good service from Lori Marklund. She was very empathetic regarding my car accident. She provided us with a Ford F150. After looking at the car she said she felt we should have a cleaner truck that didn't have the smell of cigarette smoke (which bothers me) and she proceeded to work that out. We ended up with a beautiful 2017 F150. It was very clean and had no smoke smell. Lori was so nice and so helpful. I really appreciated her going above and beyond for us. read more

Interactions with Eduardo and Kevin for our car rental were just over the top professional in a number of ways. First, our vehicle pickup in Patterson was seamless. Eduardo was a pleasure to deal with and he explained everything perfectly. It was the same way when we returned the SUV to Turlock and dealt with both Eduardo and Kevin. Also, I had accidently left my expensive sunglasses in the car and Kevin was instrumental in tracking those down after I returned the car.
