We rented a SUV plenty days prior only to show up the day of and be told, so rudely, that they didn't have it, they only had a sedan and it was much less space. We specifically requested a suv or similar FOR THE SPACE because we needed it for our trip. They knew ahead of time that we would not have the suv, why didn't they call us? We wouldn't have wasted time in even going in and we would have looked elsewhere, seems like they purposely did that to make sure we were forced to get a car with them. That is absolutely unethical! I understand things happen, but they still had a suv at the lot, but they were "holding it for another customer who said they were on their way". When this situation happened with our rental from Budget, they called us ahead of time to let us know they no longer had the car we requested, but they UPGRADED US FOR THE SAME PRICE as the rental we requested. They gave me a 2025 Ram Lariat and being a Chevy man I felt like I was cheating on my truck. If I could give zero stars I would! Shittiest place to rent a car. The employees there act like they're dumb and can't comprehend and then the regional manager just as dumb. No one communicates and I repeated myself about 5 different times to different employees all within the same place. I was sick in the hospital with covid and they told me they didn't care that I needed to return a rental. The rental was being paid for week by week and it came up on the 30 day mark and they insisted I come in a redo the contract. When I let them know of my situation they started texting and calling everyone in my family that they could find on Google saying I stole their car smh. Stupidest branch and regional manager! I have rented from Enterprise for years with no problems ever. Even when I was traveling or renting from our local enterprise in Spokane, WA. I had reserved a car to pick up in Merced, CA. after i rode the train down and would be leaving on the trin again. So I had proof that I was traveling. When I arrived at the office to pick up my reservation there became an issue with being able to pick up the rental even though I made sure when I rented initially to make sure that it was ok to rent with only having train tickets showing my arrival and departure. I was told that it was a $200 deposit before if using a debit card and then was corrected at check in that it was a $300 deposit for the rental on a debit card. I told him that was fine. Then I handed him my WA drivers license and he told me he could not rent to me as I was from out of state. I explained that I had train tickets showing my arrival and leaving Then he told me I had to have a major credit card and that it would be an additional $300 deposit with a major credit card. When I have used my credit card I have never been charged a deposit of $300 on my credit card. He was rude with me and acted if I was not what he was saying. Luckily there was a lobby full of people in there or I would have argued with him and called corporate. Then to top it off the next lady next to me had an Oregon Drivers License and they rented to her without any issues. I will never use this branch again. Also so you know my sister has cancer and not going to make it and just wanted to spend the holidays with family. And I was one of the few who could drive others to see my sister. I called the office and after some back and forth with their roadside assistance Angel who helped us rent the car came to our aide and changed the flat tire and exchanged our car for another! terrible experience!! my wife's car got hit while parked and the insurance company scheduled a pick up, not only was there only one car available, but they said they would reserve a different car with a $50 deposit and would let us know that day, no call, no communication from them at all about a different vehicle also. Three days after they told me they would call, I called to inquire about it and I was put on hold for over an hour trying to talk to someone. no answer after the long wait, and no response of any kind from this place. my wife is 8 months pregnant and this car they rented us is so small she can't get in or out of it, not comfortable at all and the car has problems with a number of things. would not recommend to anyone!!! read more

I am not sure how I feel about my experience with this place. My car went into the shop on Friday due to an emergency and I needed a rental. I was so stressed out when I walked into Enterprise. The person who helped me told me he would take real good care of me. Before getting me into a Toyota Camry he asked me to do the walk around check with him where he mentioned that we were looking for anything that is bigger than a golf ball (which I laughed about all weekend with my family). I was so stressed all I could think was to get back to my classroom to pick up my daughter and go home. We finished the walk around and I left. The car spend most of the next 4 days in my garage. Otherwise, it was in the parking lot of the school I work at. Today when I went to return the car, the person who inspected it mentioned that there was damage to the car that was not evident in the walk around report that was taken. She showed me three different spots on the passenger side. I told her that nothing has hit the car and it's been in a garage or in a parking lot at the school. She informed me that things like this happen. Then we waited for the person who had taken the original report to come out and take a look at it. He comes out and says that two of the three parts were ok, but the small broken piece of the passenger side mirror was definitely not there or else he would not have allowed me to drive it off the lot. Did I mention he originally said we were looking for anything BIGGER THAN A GOLF BALL? Now as I wait for them to "call the corporate office" to see if they will be filing a claim with my insurance, I sit here feeling 100% cheated. I know for a fact that the car did not come in contact with anything in the past 4 days. I should have taken pictures of the car before leaving the lot. I thought I could trust them but that is not the feeling I had when I left the lot today. I will have to check my credit card to make sure they don't charge me more and will talk to my insurance in the morning to let them know what is going on. That is just a real shame! My experience renting a car from your company was appalling and the customer service level was so poor that I am compelled to write this review. Recently my personal vehicle was in the shop due to a theft. Thus, leading me to rent a car through my insurance coverage. On February 10, 2021, I picked up my car rental from Enterprise Rent-A-Car of Merced, California. A black 2020 Toyota Camry SE was rented out to me till February 26, 2021. First, your associate who did not care to share his name with me was not friendly or expressed any interest in wanting to assist me with returning the vehicle. Upon returning the rental car your associate took the keys and said, "I am going to check the gas level and mileage." He walked around the car without me and then proceeded to tell me, "I am going to drive it to the back", which he did. I thought this was strange as I have never experienced this before, however, with COVID maybe things are done differently. He was then gone for approximately 7-10 minutes. He then comes back and claims there has been damage to the car. He says the right alignment is off. I am shocked and dumbfounded by this accusation as I barely drove the car, mostly just to work and back. He shows me a picture of the "damage" however, I am no car expert and not really sure what I am looking at. The car just looked dirty to me (it had rain a few days prior and there was some dry dirt on the car). He insisted that I had hit something for this to occur. I am overwhelmed and shocked that he would accuse me of this as I barely drove the car anywhere and did not hit a single thing. He proceeds to tell me he needs to open up a claim and he would need my insurance. He took my insurance policy number down and then asked "would you like to pay for your deductible with the card on file?" Obviously, he is annoyed at me and swipes my card on file for $500. He sarcastically asks if I would like a receipt. I am still shocked and the whole situation feels surreal. I signed the receipt and left. In my gut, I knew this did not feel right. After speaking to several people regarding my experience at Enterprise, I feel your associate and the branch have handled the situation completely wrong. I am still not sure why he felt the need to drive the car to the back and be gone for the amount of time that he did. I also feel that once he has taken the car into his possession it is no longer my responsibility. He did not communicate or point out any damage while walking around the car before getting into it and driving to the back. I feel he took the opportunity to take advantage of a young girl who was by herself and knew nothing about cars. You have lost a customer and for the rest of my life I will make sure to never recommend your company to anyone I know. I wish I could give you a no stars!!! read more

So we needed a car rental and our insurance had us go through Enterprise in Merced! They reserved a car 6 days in advance there, and when we got there at 4 pm the guys says we can't even get the car till 4:30! So I leave my wife there after paying for everything! They said the car would be ready at 4:30, I left at 4:20, not only did the wife not get the car till 4:55, it wasn't even the car we had on reservation! They down graded us to a lower car!!! If this is how they do business, wow. How are they still in business? I am not happy with them and I don't recommend them. So after I wrote this review, a gentleman from the main office from Fresno calls me up and asks me what happen. I told him and we hung up and within a few minutes I received a phone call from the Merced office apologizing for the mistake and asked us to return the car and they would upgrade us to a better car at the same price. So my wife went there and they did upgrade her to a very nice car at the same rate as we agreed on. After realizing Ubers/ Lyfts can't get on Lockland Air force base in san Antonio Tx. we decided to rent from Enterprise at the airport, which is not located at the airport F.Y.I. Enterprise was fast and efficient in having our car available. We were pleased they were able to accommodate us last minute. The only thing I was disappointed with was the cleanliness of the vehicle. They mentioned they did not have new cleaning equipment to get the vehicles up to par which we thought was strange. we ended up having to clean it ourselves not knowing who or what was all over the inside of the car. Other than that, the bus (every 5 minutes) that picked us up from the airport to Enterprise was fast, efficient, speedy, and he even placed our luggage out on the curb for us. This is a busy busy location, and their cars go out a little faster than they come in. And so if you're not careful you can find yourself lost in the chaos. I got into a vehicle accident while out of town and ended up totaling my car, and arranging for a rentalthrough my insurance provider Geico, who referred me to Enterprise in Merced. I called Enterprise after confirming Geico sent them the reservation because i had lost my driver's license in the crash, and needed to know what I had to provide them to be able to drive. They told me, and I thought I was able to get what they wanted at DMV, but upon arriving that evening to get my rental, they wanted something else. They assured me they'd hold my reservation over until the next day. The next morning I again went to DMV to get what I needed, and then called Enterprise to get my rental. And was told that they wouldn't have a car for me till the next day. Mind you, they called much later in the afternoon probably to tell me they had a car, but I had already rented from another rental company. My opinion, this place is too busy to be able to provide any type of decent customer service. They should probabky hire at least a couple of additional employees which in turn would give their current employees a chance to breathe and be able to provide decent customer service. I won't try again to rent from this location, but don't neccessarily think everyones experience will be like mine. read more

Enterprise rips me off every time! The staff was friendly but I think Enterprise just has built-in flaws to their business model. Someone wrecks my car and their insurance is covering it and I somehow get charged? The dealer gives me a "free" loaner and somehow I get charged? Also, their store-to-store communication and renting trucks is a nightmare. I spent a solid half a day trying to figure out how I can rent a truck. read more
