Honestly didn't expect much going into this, but Enterprise came through. Rented a vehicle for a family trip out of state and the experience was super smooth. The gentleman who helped me, Walter, was great. He was genuinely helpful and easy to work with. At pickup, we went through the pre-inspection fairly thoroughly, which I appreciated because it felt like he actually cared about making sure we were on the same page before I drove off. Then, he offered to wash the car down and fill the tank to full before sending me on my way. My experience at Enterprise Rent-A-Car has definitely been an adventure! On my first day, I spent about an hour and a half at the location. They were very transparent about not having many cars on the lot, but still worked hard to help me out. The first car they got for me had a nail in the tire, so they quickly took care of it. Even though they were close to closing, they were kind, apologetic, and worked fast to get me into a different vehicle. They even helped me install my car seat and made sure everything was set before I left. After driving that vehicle for a few days, I realized it wasn't the right fit for me. I returned to the branch, and they switched me to a new car without any hassle. A few days later, the battery on that vehicle started acting up. Once again, they handled it immediately and got me into another car--this time, one that I really loved. When I went on vacation, I returned the vehicle and let them know I'd be back later that week since my own car was still in the shop. Throughout this entire process, the customer service has been excellent. A special shoutout to CJ, who has always been incredibly helpful, patient, and understanding. He--and the entire team--really go out of their way to assist customers and make sure everything runs smoothly. Unfortunately, I have had much better experiences renting here at this location, but not this time. Companies have scaled back since the pandemic, and just getting the proper amount of people to work is a major challenge these days. Enterprise is no different. Clearly, the two employees were struggling to keep up on a weekday morning. Even with the higher demand renting cars. With the many traveling fans for the spring baseball training and warm weather seeking winter revelers. So, I called and I had asked for the ride where Enterprise (advertises) says, "We'll pick you up!" I was told 10:30 am would be ok. My requested hotel pick up time (10 mins. drive away). So, no driver employee shows up as said. I called again and now it's a one hour pick-up time window. Rental reservation is for 11 or 11:30 am. A suggestion was made from an Enterprise employee in taking Uber and that they'd pay or reimburse me for it. After my many requests, they never did that. Disappointing. All 'feel good' talk spoken here, instead of real action. They're nice, but uh... I mean come on guys, really?! Secondly, once awaiting in front of three other rental pick-ups, I still truly waited 45 mins to 1 hr. to receive what was a dirty, poorly maintained '24 Toyota RAV4 with ripped flooring - driver's side. Apparently, they were low on vehicles and this location was caught unprepared? On the positive side, this was given as a (free) "upgrade" from the FULL size reserved. Hopefully, next year will be better when I return? They've tryed but it's not enough. Not for these prices. read more

Just like any other poor review starts with " if I could get this place zero stars, I would" but unfortunately that's not the case I yelp but I digress. This is by far the worst customer service I've ever received at any establishment regardless of car rental. Alex, the initial associate I was working with through my car insurance, who was trying to upsell me on all of Enterprise's "add ons". I explained to him I was going through my insurance for a repair that was at a shop and progressive had selected them as my car rental and that all I would have to pay is a $50 deposit. Fast forward to Alex & Chanessa(the other associate with a poor attitude) inserted herself in a transaction that she had nothing to do with . So between her and Alex going back-and-forth I was done. Then Alex stated he was going to "reduce" the fees down to the initial $50 that I had agreed to when I spoke with the agent from enterprise on Monday I explained that was the initial agreement-- he abruptly cut me off and told me "I AM BENDING OVER BACKWARDS FOR YOU" I said that would not be the case if you weren't already being rude and telling me about your raises/compensation are based off how your customers review you on the surveys & their handpicked google reviews(hence you can see that the review on yelp is completely different than that of Google) . Anywho, I didn't ask for any discounts for you to "upgrade me at no charge". I simply asked for a vehicle that my insurance would cover daily. That is when Chanessa cut off our interaction mid sentence to tell me she wouldn't rent to me because "she doesn't feel comfortable". I have never seen an establishment ran so poorly. The attitude and combativeness is unbelievable. I would never recommend this location not even to my worst enemy. hopefully enterprise retrains, Alex and Chanessa. One of the staff later told me there are 18 body shops within 2 miles of this place and Monday morning is the busiest time there When I rented, I thought about rating this place 3 stars but after I came back to return my car, I got to chat with them and realized they were doing the best they could to take care of their customers as fast as possible. Yes, my wait was almost one hour on Monday but David remained calm and friendly. I didn't realized then but he brought in candy to give out, trying to help customers in waiting. I had fun with my small convertible for a few days. It was easy to drive and fun. I thought I might enjoy it but after a few days I realized convertible doesn't fit my lifestyle, but I got to experience once. I rented a car from Enterprise (1120 N MCCLINTOCK DR TEMPE, AZ) and returned it in the same condition as I received it. However, after one week, they sent me an email and claimed that there was damage to the car. The rental car representative inspected the car when I returned it and there was no damage. They sent me pictures of the alleged damage, and none of it was caused by me. In fact, their pictures showed that the car had driven 34 miles after I had returned it. Enterprise blamed me for the damage and sent me an invoice without listening to my dispute. I believe they should have inspected the car in my presence and made note of any alleged damages. Instead, they sent me an email one week later and claimed that there was damage to the car. This is an unfair and unethical business practice. I am disappointed with Enterprise's customer service and their handling of this situation. I urge others to be cautious when renting from Enterprise, as they may blame you for damage that you did not cause. read more

Every employee was well-versed and knowledgeable on the rental process from the time I walked in, to the time I left. I will take the extra 22 minutes out of my day to drive to this location, because of their service and morale. I was never going to use Enterprise again due to my horrible experience last week, but this specific location made me change my mind. I am glad I took a second chance at Enterprise, based on a gut feeling, while on my way to Budget-Avis this morning, by pulling over to this Enterprise location. Visited this bran of Enterprise car rental, at 1130 N.McClintock Dr, attended to by Asst Manager,Sophia Cappello, turned out to be the worst experience in many years. Allegedly her conduct in addressing my reservation, was borderline more on being racist, than professional and courteous in every imaginable manner. Stood there standing for more than 8 minutes, there was no one at her counter, she looked at me, then turned away, the counter clerk, on the left, signal to me to come to her, did so, she then asked me to hold, send me back to Sophia, who allegedly has issues and biases of some kind. Issued false information on the picking up of the vehicle. My experience with her horrible ,recommends she be dismissed with immediate effect,her conduct will cause loss of customers. will never recommend that branch, whatsoever. read more

Don't rent from this location. The guy was nice enough but very much salesman. I rented the vehicle through rentalcars.com initially quoting me 223.35. I added a driver and liability for the rental. The final cost ended up being 371 and some change which is why I am leaving my review here today. The paperwork provided at time of rental showed a total of $313.61. It seems all of the extra fees went up in price substantially, this is obvious when comparing the initial paperwork with the receipt. Additionally, the first vehicle they tried to set us up with was not comparable to what we reserved. Luckily or unluckily it was dirty, very dirty. There was what appeared to be a soda can ring on the seat(not a stain) it was brown looked relatively new, a hair tie on the shifter and the back seat was covered in dog hair. It became apparent this car was not washed on the inside. Mind you this is in my middle of a pandemic. He said he would give us a discount and upgrade us. While this car was better than the first I would say it was the type of vehicle we should have received in the first place. Also if you call giving costumers the only similar car available a discount then sure, otherwise no discounts were provided. He did not review the paperwork on this car with us or that the prices would change due to the "upgrade" in-fact, the paper he printed and handed me looks identical to the first one (I have them both). By the looks of it he printed the same paperwork as the first. We hit the road and about an hour into the trip we are getting dash alerts. There is no manual in the vehicle so we have to spend time looking it up. One was check engine which ended up turning off, one was low wiper fluid which went off about every five miles (huge hazard to costumers and vehicle), the other we never figured out. We returned the car early told them about the alerts, they check the car and set us on our way. Now I have my receipt with the additional charges and no explanation. 1. There is apparently a stadium fee???? Which increases based on vehicle. This information is not shown when you rent through rental cars. The increase in fees was also not explained when vehicle was upgraded. 2. They screwed up my rental and offered a discount (which ended up only being a slight vehicle upgrade, NOT monetary). But then have the audacity to increase the price of the stadium fee and all their other variable charges! Mind you when the vehicle was "upgraded" the price on the rental paperwork they provided did not change. read more

We always use Enterprise for all of our car rentals. Why, "customer service!" The staff at this location met and exceeded our expectations. From picking us up, processing the paperwork, to giving us numerous options for a vehicle, and then taking us back to our pick up location ! They even reduced the last day of the rental cost because we returned the car a half day early. So the staff, "beautiful John " absolutely went above and beyond the already high level of customer service ! Unfortunately the other day my car decided to take a giant crap on me. So I stopped by the enterprise rent a car and got a car for a couple days. The service at this location was really great and everything was really smooth . They took really great care of my needs and was able to put me into a vehicle fairly quickly . The only issue was the radio didn't really work that well so I had to return the vehicle and exchange it for another. They know how to take a reservation but don't know how to HOLD the reservation! Had prearranged car rental with Enterprise through USAA while our car was scheduled to be in the body shop. On 10/6 I called the 800# to confirm everything was set up for our appt on 10/8 and was told we are good to go and that we would get a call back later that afternoon from the local office at 1120 N. McClintock. That return call never happened so we called the McClintock location this morning shortly after 8:00am and were told we we all set and they gave us the same confirmation # that I was given from USAA. My wife dropped off our car about 11:00am and Enterprise picked her up a few minutes later so she arrived at their location about 11:15. When she got to their office there were already 6 people in line and she kept over hearing that they had no cars available. She made it to the counter about 11:30 (since they had no cars the line moved quickly) and they confirmed our reservation with USAA and was told that they had all of these walk in customers show up and that they had no cars at the moment so she would have to wait for a few minutes for them to bring some cars up. Finally at 12:30 she went to the counter to get an update and was told that there were still 5 people ahead of her and that it would be at least another hour. At that point she told them to cancel the reservation and called an Uber to take her home.....a $30.00 expense. She over heard others complaining that they had been there over 2 hours and still had no car even though they had reservations. I am an Executive Elite member with National and the fact that they are affiliated with Enterprise who could care less about customer service is extremely disappointing. Since Enterprise is the "preferred" rental car provider for USAA I will be dropping my rental car coverage with them when this is all over and will use another agency if needed in the future. read more

After a few cancelled flights with 2 young children, 6 bags of luggage and 2 car seats , we were exhausted and hungry and completely SOL in every aspect. We had to rent a car just for a place to put our belongings. We decided to rent from Enterprise. We arrived and were greeted by a very sweet girl named Sophia. She was professional, kind and sympathetic to our situation. They were extremely busy and trying to manage the amount of customers in their small office the best they could. I can really appreciate the level of customer service as I have been in CS in the past and know how difficult it can be. Nonetheless, Sophia and her team remained calm and professional and upgraded us to a larger vehicle and then let us keep it longer because we had a later flight the next day which was SO helpful. I made a reservation for a car the night before needing it, so within 8 hours of when I wanted to pick it up. I had no problems at pickup other than the car smelling like smoke. The rep didn't seem to concerned and honestly I don't think this car was really even cleaned. BUT when I returned the car to Stephen at the location on Warner and priest he was so unbelievably nice and even took two days of rental off because the car smelled like smoke so badly he wanted to "make me happy". So I thought when my car needed to be dropped off at the mechanic I would let them Uber me to get a car from enterprise again. Mistake. The girl who works at the front desk was not friendly or helpful at all. She said no cars are available and may not be available until 4pm! I was there at 830am! I said what about other locations? She said she didn't know and she could put me on the wait list and maybe there could be one around noon maybe. So I said ok let's see what's available and she then said ok the reservation is $70 a day and $200 deposit lol I was shocked because last time not even a week ago I rented a "whatever is available" and it was $43 a day for an SUV. So which vehicle is she quoting me for $70 a day? I'm on the app because I'm a plus member and that is a truck or luxury car! So I said forget it. She didn't care. I'm now not using enterprise again. She put a bad taste in my mouth and I will never go back to this location. read more

I rented several times last year and have had better car experiences with other locations unfortunately. Twice there has been no windshield fluid, which is a safety issue if you really need it and anytime I get into the cars I barely want to touch the steering wheel. I bring my own cleaning wipes because the vehicles look like they just did a quick cleanup of trash and in some I've seen a light layer of dust. Again, it's only this location so this doesn't stand for all enterprises. On the other hand, I've had great experiences with staff, they're kind and helpful. I did mention to someone the windshield fluid issue. Hopefully it's something they've addressed. read more

The repair shop called 3 days ahead on Friday, but when the 1120 N McClintock Enterprise picked me up at the shop on the following Monday morning and brought me to their location, they couldnt find my 3-day reservation. Even so, they quickly gave me a Kia Soul (even though I reserved a basic economy model)!! *smile* Reservation was for three (24hr) days, but the form stated car was due 5:30pm on the 2nd day (instead of 8:20am on tbe 3rd day ... the time I started the rental). When I called the 1120 N McClintock Enterprise location to return the car, I asked for a ride to a location 4.1 miles away (I gave the address). The woman who answered said Google told her it was over 8 miles away, so Enterprise wouldn't give me a ride. So, I had to return the rental to another Enterprise location about 3 miles from my destination and walked from there to my destination. Luckily, it was a nice day, but the second Enterprise location was busy and understaffed, so it took over 30 minutes just to drop off the rental. :) read more

In a nutshell, most car rentals are about the same. But great customer service makes all the difference. The location of this place is almost eerie if you ask me. It's so nondescript that you could mistaken it for anything else but a rental place. The first time I tried to pick up my rental, I had no idea that I had to bring at least three docs showing proof of address because I was using a debit card. Because I was in need of a car, I reluctantly got on their computer system to logon to my bank accounts to show them some bank statements. I was uncomfortable doing that and I wish they made that clear for debit card users. Since they are so close to my home, I still go there when my car is in the shop. But they don't offer the best customer service. Recently, they were short one person and I had to wait around while they scrambled to answer the phones, drive another customer back, clean a car and still attend to me. Yuck... Alright I don't complain about much...No really!! Check my posts... it could be construed I am overly positive... That's why this place needed to be reviewed, because I can't be positive about this place. Not even a little... Here is why: So I get into a little fender-bender and I drop my car off to get it fixed by the insurance company. I pick literally the closest place to the shop because well all car rental places are the same eh? Not so my friend... I have never seen a more ghetto, backroom operation in my whole life. So the place is in this non-descript dirty little building in an industrial area in Tempe. That is nothing to bitch about but the dingy little office INSIDE...frankly made me want to take a shower. There is one person doing everything and it took over an hour to be out the door with the car. The car I got was not washed. It smelled like someone smoked in it for weeks with the windows rolled up and left burning cigarettes burning in it while they were sleeping at night. They knew it was through insurance , so I am not sure why they gave me a car that was more than ANY insurance would actually pay leaving me with a bill of over 200 bucks after the insurance. There was a snag with my insurance initially which has nothing to do with them... but I did get a call from them after I turned in the car, asking me to pay again ( after I paid out of pocket) ... apparently there is no office memos or communication in that office. Yeah that's it...but for as something as simple a renting a car they sure managed to make it a spectacular screw-up, and probably the worst experience I have ever really had renting a car. I would certainly look to other places if you are forced to rent in that neighborhood. read more

I had an accident and needed a Rental car, my Insurance Company told me to call Hertz (big mistake) The guy at the Hertz location in Tempe "off Scottsdale road" was so Rude and unprofessional (see that Yelp report) That i had to call someone else before I called the police. I called Enterprise, despite my Insurance company relationship with Hertz, and was treated so Hospitality that I thought I had a Family member working in their somewhere? Of course I didn't but they were so great and quick to resolve my problem that I will use them forever for every rental car need I have...."Lexi" in particular was amazing! read more

I made a reservation for a compact car for 1 week. Upon checking in the customer service reps told me that they didn't actually have a compact but would upgrade to the next size for no additional charge. I was very pleased with the customer service, all three of the reps that I had the pleasure of working with were extremely pleasant and helpful, service was quick, the car was clean and in good condition and they had the lowest price I could find in my area. I don't care about the wait time as long as you keep up with those weekend specials! If you expect to be in your car 10 minutes after you arrive, don't come here. But the staff is friendly and the deals can be great. I have had great service except for one bald guy who works there. He treated me as if I was a moron because I am young-ish. Didn't have the heart to tell him that I am a biology PhD student and have rented cars many times for research. Worst customer service rep I have encountered in a while.
