She was very personable, thorough, and a real joy to deal with. VEHICLE REVIEW- 2 stars Very limited choices in their fleet, we wanted a sedan, were promised a VW sedan, but when we arrived, they didn't have one available. Our 2024 Ford Escape SUV had plenty of scratches on the exterior surface and the exterior was full of tree pollen (the cars are stored behind the building by trees). There was a cigarette burn and a stain on the front passenger seat. Katherine did a thorough job documenting these deficiencies with us, so thankfully there were no issues when we returned the rental. We did notice that the car's transmission had a lag when you accelerated from a full stop, like a heart palpitation skipping a beat. That made us a bit nervous. After some supermarket shopping, we went to put groceries in the trunk and discovered a piece of trash peeking out from under the trunk compartment lid. Apparently, a previous renter really like Backwoods Russian Cream cigars. The AC and stereo and brakes were excellent. Overall rating of 3.5 stars. read more

This location, and Enterprise employees in general are manipulative and ruthless. They look for any way to keep your deposit. I warn you. PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM THEM!!!!! I was hit by another car while renting one of their vehicles, which resulted in a small dent. Estimated repair cost for this type of dent is normally $50-$175. However, they milked this situation by keeping my entire $300 deposit PLUS money from my insurance. Because Avon is a small town, this location isn't busy in the slightest. They make up for it by extorting what few customers they do have. DO NOT RENT HERE! There machines are so faulty, my Apple Card didn't even go through. I was overcharged for insurance by this location, New London, CT, which caused an overdraft fee in the amount of $36.00, the location refuses to refund.. I booked the reservation through Expedia, purchased insurance through their site and when I picked up the vehicle, I was charged again for insurance which caused an overdraft fee to be charged. My bank refuses to refund as it is not their error... A prior complaint was filed in re, a Joy with Enterprise spoke with me on the phone at location when picking up another rental thereafter... She attempted to shift blame to myself for using a debit card which caused the overdraft fee, further, she made a veiled threat stating, "going online making complaints and effect ability to make future reservations" or similar thereof.. A the time, I was picking up another rental and had to agree to her statements or would not be able to pick up vehicle...As far as I know this person no longer works at Enterprise., which is no surprise. read more

the car I rented was dirty inside and had a bent fender. they charged me a drop off fee for a distance of 45 miles. I don't understand the logic of this. I needed to rent in avon as a friend was dropping me off so my only choice. I think $68.00 for 24 hours is too high for a car with the drop off fee being $20. staff is nice office is small but did not find pricing right. read more

I recently had the pleasure of renting a car from Enterprise in Avon while my car was getting some body work done. The process was quick and easy on the phone despite the fact that the enterprise.com website location information was incorrect. I took advantage of the pick up service and also used their service to drive me back to my car upon dropoff. My only complaint is that I was picked up by somebody driving a VW bug. I am 5'6" and sitting in the back seat was very uncomfortable for me. I had a friend with me and he is 6'4" and 220lb so he sat in the front which was also pretty tight. I really don't know what the folks at Enterprise were thinking when they took that car to pick up a stranger. What if I was 350lbs and I had something to carry (eg. luggage)? Fortunately they took a Chevy Captiva for the dropoff and the girl who drove us back was a total sweetheart! (nice bonus) read more

Their office, like most of Enterprise's offices, is local, which was the reason I initially rented the first car from them. Since then I have been renting cars from Avon Enterprise Rent-A-Car for a number of years now, with different managers and different crews in that office. I can safely say that I have a good basis to judge their performance as a rental car company. And they excel in just about everything they do! That is my experience with them as long as I have been their customer. No, I'm not saying they are perfect, tell me which company is! What I am saying is that they always put the customer's interest first. If something went wrong, they promptly took care of it - no excuses! I once watched one of the "crew" personally take time out to explain to an elderly lady how the car that she rented worked, meticulously and with great patience, at times repetitiously, guided her through the whole rental process. I was truly impressed - in what other rental car company would you be witness to such an unusual scene? They can be trusted; they are the only car rental company that will pick you up - no hot air! And they are on time - every time! Their rental cars are of the highest quality of any rental car company that I have rented from; clean, fresh-smelling, I never had one break down on me. This office is run by the best, and staffed by the best, they will always have a genuine smile for you. Because of this office and the trust I have in them, I only rent from Enterprise where-ever I am in the world, provided their office is there. Enterprise Rent-A-Car may not always have lowest price, but then I am more than willing to pay slightly more to get the best service and the best-kept cars. The Avon office have always been competitive. When it comes to price there is no one lower anywhere else around Hartford, CT I trusted them to the point of purchasing an excellent vehicle from their top 5% of used Enterprise cars (Enterprise Car Sales in E.Hrtfrd) which means I won't be renting from them as frequently, but I sure know where to go when I need one!
