I rented a car, overpriced because it was nascar week in Austin and hard to get a vehicle. However I encountered a malfunction with wipers when it started to rain. I was already more than half way to Dallas and on my way to Indiana. Couldn't get through to enterprise office I rented from. Then called roadside which was extremely unhelpful. Finally I got to waxahachie where the manager was awesome. They traded my vehicle even though roadside did Not set it up and they said they would. The manager here saved the day. When I finally got In touch with Austin they said they would give me a two day credit which I never got. I got to Sacramento a month later and they wouldn't honor any credit they said Austin never out it on my account. Crap I should have to deal with. Be nice if I got my two day credit read more

Been renting from Enterprise for over 10 years now, mainly because they are preferred with my employer. I recently rented for the holiday break, and was pleased to get a really great deal on a mid size SUV (hundreds of dollars less than other places). Car was nice and had the key less entry and ignition, something I am used to now, seeing as I still drive a 20 year old analog Jeep Wrangler and sometimes have surprises when renting new cars with new technologies. Today was one of them. When starting the car, I received a "key less battery low" message. This kind of freaked me out, wondering what do I do if it runs out. Leave it to Murphy's Law, but right after one errand, I came back out and it wouldn't open the car. I started to freak out, but then realized, Hey I have my trusty phone. I googled what to do, and saw that there is a regular key stored inside the key less fob. I pulled it out and was able to open the door, and then the car started by placing the fob over the ignition button. Pretty cool, huh? Anyways, to the point of this review. I called the enterprise location up the road and asked if they could swap the battery out, and they were very helpful. I drove in, gave them the fob. They swapped it with new battery and good to go. After a long wait for a car to be cleaned, I was rented a Corolla with myriad scratches on the bumper. This would not have bothered me if the bumper had not begun falling off on the drive home. I was instructed to come back at 2:30pm 2 days later to pick up another vehicle (presumably one that isn't falling apart). It's almost two hours later and they've not sorted a new car out. Everyone here seems nice enough (with the possible exception of the duplicitous, rude person who took my call 2 days ago), but they seem overtaxed. If you're not in a hurry and don't mind being jerked around, this probably the #1 car rental facility for several blocks read more

Here is my Enterprise car rental experience that I am pretty upset about. I picked up a rental car at the South Lamar location in Austin, TX on 8/12/24. The car was a Mitsubishi Mirage with about 54,000 miles. When driving on the highway on the evening of the pickup, the rear left tire blew out on the highway. I didn't hit anything, it just blew out. The car was in pretty rough shape to begin with, with missing hubcaps among other things. Then, we pulled over and went to change the tire, but there was no jack in the trunk. I had to call AAA and wait for them to bring a jack and change the tire. Then, I called Enterprise and the only location open was at the airport, so I drove to the airport to exchange the vehicle. That seemingly went efficiently. We picked up a Hyundai Elantra with 53,000 miles in a dark garage. It seemed fine. Nothing happened during our trip. We went to return the vehicle (8/15) and the returning agent indicated dents on the right side of the vehicle. They were hard to see in the daylight and there would have been no chance of seeing them in a dark garage at night when we picked up the vehicle. The agent who switched the vehicle never did a walk around with us for that vehicle. Nothing happened when we had the vehicle, but your returning agent filed a damage report. I feel like we have been given old damaged vehicles that have been poorly maintained and are now being blamed for damage that we didn't do. This has been a bad experience. Enterprise is 4 months later now coming after me for damage costs. I am supposed to have coverage from my credit card, so I will see how that goes. read more

I booked a car in advance to my trip to Austin. I was emailed that my car was ready to be picked up 20 minutes before I landed in Austin. When I get to the car rental garage I was told my car wasn't ready and it would take them 5 minutes to pull around, I told him it was fine and to go pull it around. He told me instead of him taking the 5 minutes I could pay an extra $40 for a car that was available now! I told him to go pull my car around I'm not paying an extra $40. He then still refused to go get my car and told me the upgrade would be free. He clearly didn't want to give me my car. Horrible customer service. read more

Any time a business has you in a car for almost two months but can't even drive you home (a 10 min drive but longer in traffic), and with rideshare apps not working properly, leaving you no choice to walk outside hoping to hail a cab in 90+ degree heat...is one I do not want to do business with. Had a reservation here and got checked in fine, staff was friendly, car was fine, but it all went downhill when we tried to pay. The whole rental was about $230 (as was communicated beforehand in the confirmation email). They asked to charge an additional $200 for something, I forget what, I think incidentals? Deposit? Insurance? At any rate, they charged 200 over the original price so my card was declined. I had planned on $230, not $539!!! So I offered to use my debit card or cash instead. They don't accept either (if you're not from Austin). Credit only. So I figured I could just make a payment on my credit card real quick and try again. Nope. The guy says "we have to wait 24 hrs before trying the same card again." Great. What's with the weird policies at this location? Only accepts credit cards? Can only swipe your card once?? My name is, Zack, and I am writing this email because if the terrible experience with your company in Austin. My family took a trip to Austin. We made a reservation a week in advance with Enterprise because we have an account with you all and usually use Enterprise. We thought everything was ok. So on Thursday we land in Austin at 9:20 A.M. We are supposed to pick the car up at 9:30 A.M. we get a call from the rental car office a minute after we land leaving a voicemail telling us not to come to the office because they have no cars available. Mind you my wife and I are traveling with with our 1 year old son so we had to bring his car seat with us. We call the office back and they make up some excuse on why they don't have any car and if we want a car still we can be added to the wait list. Really? Gee thanks. So we are added to the wait list. So we are stuck in an airport in a city we have never been to and scrambling to figure out a solution. We have to call a Lyft install the car seat and go to the hotel and wait for the car company to call. The car company never calls. We were there from Thursday to Tuesday and they literally made no effort to call us or check if we got a car or anything. So from Thursday to Tuesday we literally had to take Lyfts everywhere and install and unistall the car seat from car to car anywhere we went. No place to keep the car seat or the stroller so we had to carry then everywhere. If you have children you know how bad this truly us. Your company singlehandedly ruined this trip. You all really should be ashamed. I work in customer service and this might top the list of worst customer service I have ever seen. read more

I recently rented a car through Enterprise in Austin. It was a one-way rental from Austin to Dallas, and I planned to drop the car off at DFW airport. Daily rate for an economy car was cheapest among all the other agencies I researched, but there was a hefty one-way-drop-off fee that was tacked on of $175. Ouch! Every other agency I tried had the same fee, so ultimately Enterprise still ended up being the cheapest. And, I have a history with Enterprise, having used them frequently for work trips 10-15 years ago when I traveled around New York state for work. I was in Austin for a couple days of leisure, without a car, and just needed the car to get to Dallas and for my couple days there before flying back to New York. I had no way to get to the rental location, so asked Enterprise to pick me up from my hotel (the Austin Motel on South Congress). Unfortunately, when I made my reservation online, though I tried to pick the Enterprise location that I thought was closest to the hotel, I actually reserved with a location that was slightly farther away than the one on South Lamar. When I called the location where I had made the reservation to arrange to be picked up, I was told to call the South Lamar location, since they were closer. I was told they could transfer my reservation to their location, and everything should be seamless. But that I should also plan to call the morning I wanted to be picked up just to make sure I was on the pick-up list. I called the South Lamar location immediately after that and confirmed with David that he could see my reservation for the other, farther location, and that it was actually OK for him to set up a pick up for the South Lamar location. He was pleasant and competent and I felt confident everything was OK with the change. Then on the day of the pickup, I called the South Lamar location again, as instructed, and talked to Daniel. Since my reservation was still showing in their system for the other location it was a little confusing; however, he acknowledged that I was on their pick up list and confirmed the time for pick up. He was also very friendly and easy going. And he was the one who ended up picking me up. Once at the South Lamar location I worked with Ryker, who handled my reservation in the computer, found my previous account information (from 10 or more years ago!) and 'introduced me' to the car I would be renting. I was very pleased to be upgraded to a Jeep SUV (from an economy car). We went out to look at the car, Ryker showed me how to use the keyless starter, how to adjust the lights, seat and mirrors, and what to watch out for in terms of dings and damage. He also recommended additional insurance for the car, which I usually wave since I have insurance that also covers my rentals, but since I was going through a heavy construction zone between Austin and Dallas, and since the potential for damages could exceed my deductible, I agreed to it. The car itself was perfect. Surprisingly good gas economy, quiet, had bluetooth and a USB connection for the radio so I could plug in my phone and listen to my music and navigation at the same time. I was lucky to get to Dallas in about 3.5 hours and drove the car very little once there, finally returning it to DFW around 4 am on the day of my flight back to New York. Overall, very happy with my experiences with Enterprise, with the team that assisted me in Austin, and also with the follow-up I received from Ryker 3 days after I was home. I really appreciate these touches, the level of knowledge all the reps had, and how seamless the rental process felt. I would definitely recommend them, and Ryker, David and Daniel in particular. read more

This past February I was in a car accident with another driver and Progressive sent me to enterprise while my vehicle was being assessed. The original location I was sent to curtly told me they didn't have a vehicle available for my reservation and to come back tomorrow. They'll have their separate review later. At the next location I tried, this one, I was greeted by Samantha and given the level of service I would say I'm more accustomed to with Enterprise. When she couldn't find a vehicle on their lot for me, she tried the next 2 closest ones, and when that didn't pan out, told me she'd have one ready for 430 that day as long as one of the expected returns came in. Sure enough it did, and thanks to her, after all the run around I had from the other guys insurance and everything else I had one thing go right that week. She was a lifesaver and I am lucky to have stumbled into the right location that day. read more

I don't have enough good things to say about my last experience with Enterprise. I had never used this location before and the staff was fantastic. The pickup process was so quick and painless and the gentleman assisting me was very personable and friendly. I did the weekend rate and got an upgraded car. So it was only 49 dollars for 3 days and in a pretty nice vehicle. When I dropped off the rental, they asked if I needed a ride somewhere, which I did. It would have been such a hassle to have to get a cab or Car2go to get home. I didn't know that they offered that service and I love it. It will be Enterprise all the way from now on. read more

Someone hit my wife's car. Again. So again I took it to Whitakers, and again Enterprise picked me up from there and dropped me off again when the car was ready. The whole process was seemless. The staff was nice and the car was nice. In fact, I have to mention that as I was at the counter returning the car, the young lady helping me (Nikki) answered the phone and very politely told the caller that she was curently helping someone and would get right back to the call when she was finished. Tried to book a reservation the night before online, but kept experiencing errors on the website. I went to this location around 11 in the morning. Only one woman there helping people, and a pretty significant wait time. Unfortunately, she said, there were no more cars available. The solution she offered was to call the scheduled renters and confirm, and call me back by 12:30 letting me know whether or not there was an availability. This would be fine, but she never called me. And never offered to check with any of the nearby branches, or check to see when the next availability would be. It was really obvious to me that I was not offered the same level of courtesy and attention the people ahead of me were. I don't mind that they were out of cars, that happens, but I was very quickly dismissed and never followed up with. An observation that may or may not be coincidence, ahead of me were one lady, and then a couple. All white, 30+, and appeared to be upper middle class. I'm brown, in my 20s, ethnic hair with shorts & a worn star wars tee. I'm hoping there wasn't some classism going on. If I'm at a rental car place, I'm obviously there because I can afford to be! I'm a self-made 6-figure earner, and just because I don't act bourgeois doesn't mean I don't deserve to be treated courteously. tl;dr: This place sucks. Unless you HAVE to go to this location, go to the other south lamar enterprise. There were 3 super friendly guys there. I have used Enterprise in the past and never had this problem before. It must have been the location. I reserved a car through the website and was expected to pick it up last Friday. I got a call about an hour and a half before I was supposed to pick it up saying that they now need to put me on a wait list? That this list had been going on since 8 am that morning. Well, that just doesn't make any sense to me. Why on earth would they let me reserve something that wasn't even available? On my voicemail, Anna said that they would call me over the weekend and let me know if anything was available, but I never received that call. If I ever do decide to rent through this company again, it will be at the South IH 35 location. I wanted to try a location closer to my job, but this was ridiculous. I got different rental terms dictated to me after I called the 2nd time in a month. The first time I tried to rent "using a debit card" I was informed that they would (1) Require my TDL (2) Require 2nd form of photo ID (I had my passport) (3) Proof of Employment (I had a name card from my company) (4) A credit report would need to be run (5) A utility bill statement with my name on it. Whew !! The 2nd time I contacted them, I was told all of the above plus, I would need have a credit card. Naturally, if someone wishes to use a debit card, it might just be because they currently do not have one, or perhaps are of sound enough mind to only make purchases not requiring credit. It is getting nearly impossible to rent cars without credit and huge car rental companies who dictate the terms. tend to own other well known companies, who of course require the same terms in general with some exceptions. Enterprise is way too expensive now anyway, so phooey with using them. read more

I had to rent a car after a vehicle hit mine and sent it to the shop. The insurance organize rental through this location. They confuse my pick up time so I didn't get to the facility until almost 30 minutes after I was scheduled to, and then the car they rented me had expired registration by four months. I had to turn around and bring the vehicle back when I noticed not only the sticker was expired, but there was no registration in the vehicle. When I had to bring the vehicle back, they verbally assured me that the vehicle was registered and said that if I got pulled over, it would show it that it was registered. I reminded them that it was still illegal to drive a vehicle without a copy of registration actually IN the vehicle, at which time they spoke quietly amongst themselves and said they would print me a copy. After several minutes, they were unable to provide proof that the vehicle was in fact insured, and they put me in a different vehicle. The next vehicle was filthy on the inside and only had a half a tank of gas, which I later found out was because the safety mechanism wasn't functioning properly and it spits out gasoline after the tank is half full (I took a video). I then called this office the day my car was finished being repaired to find out if I needed to return the vehicle to a different location if I needed to be driven to the shop where my vehicle was located. I live by myself and cannot drive two vehicles to their proper place. The person who answered the phone here said there was a location close where my vehicle was being fixed, but I explained I couldn't write it down because I was driving, but asked this person if I just look up the closest address to the body shop and that would be a good place to take it too. He said yes, at which time I pulled over and found the closest enterprise location to the body shop. I'm new to Austin so didn't realize this was the airport location until I was driving up the winding driveway to park the vehicle. When I got out, they explained that they do not drive people back to their vehicles and by the time this was explained to me, the rental vehicle was blocked in by several other vehicles and it took The staff a while to unblock the vehicle so I could then get out and drive another 7 miles to a different location. Overall, the experience with this office was unpleasant, and I'd rather drive to another rental office than be put in a car that's illegal to drive again. It also seems they have significant communication issues. For example, when I wasn't picked up until 30 minutes after the scheduled time, and sending me to another location to drop off the vehicle. And I say to the guy, I'm supposed to pick it up at 11 and he tells me he can't control when people get the cars back and besides- I'm 15 minutes late. He says it'll be at least another 20 minutes and when he calls the people out picking up the cars to find their location- no one answers. What a sh*it show. I use this Enterprise a lot, like 7 times in the last 2 months alone. I felt compelled to write this review because of one of the female associates they have working there. While I was waiting for my car this morning, I was making a bit of small talk, and wow, she could not be bothered at all. She was on her cell phone, and I guess, too consumed with texting or whatever to make some casual chit-chat with a frequent customer. She's usually the one sitting in one of the front row of desks. In fact, when I came in, she just gave me this death stare, no good morning, no acknowledgement of any kind. This isn't actually the first time that she's been nasty. A couple of months ago, she was the one tasked with giving me a ride back home after I returned the rental car, and even then, she just displayed no actual customer service at all. I actually felt that I was putting her at an inconvenience because she had to drive me back home, which mind you, I live not too far away in the Enfield/West Lynn area of Old West Austin. The male associate that was actually getting my car ready was the polar opposite. He was (and always has been the other times I've been helped by him) super-friendly, very accommodating, and just all-around very pleasant. I do want to give a shout-out to all the guys at this place, since they are generally very customer-service oriented. I have nothing but the nicest things to say about them. But this female associate just totally put a damper to what is already a gray day. I had a question about the passenger vans, but decided to wait until the guy who was helping me finally came back inside and asked him instead about it. This female associate, whom I will refrain from calling something not nice, are the types of workers that will ruin a business. She stands out, and not in a good way, because of her very unpleasant demeanor, especially as compared to the other associates I've had the pleasure of dealing with at this location. The management at this location should seriously consider having her take some basic customer service skills. With all the rest of traveling I have to do for my job this summer, I'm going to consider the other Enterprise on 5th Street instead of this one. I'll be recommending such to my other colleagues at the agency as well. read more

I booked Enterprise through Hotwire and after having a friend drive me to this branch, found out that they didn't have any economy cars available. They sent me to another branch but it closed by the time we got there and then Enterprise refused to amend my reservation to give me the extra day I had lost at the same price. It was super frustrating since it wasn't even my fault they didn't have the car. So I was pretty pissed when the next time I went to Enterprise after calling ahead to make sure they'd have a car even though I was coming 90 min early, they AGAIN didn't have the car size I reserved. I explained what had happened before and the lady at the counter looked bored and said, "So is there a question somewhere here?" Funny, I thought from a customer service view, it'd be pretty obvious what they should do. I asked for a discount but with a measly 5%, I still was paying more per day than what I had been quoted. Which I guess was the point all along. Congratulations Enterprise at South Lamar - you made me pay more than my reservation. Twice in the same month, you didn't have an economy car as confirmed. People are better off going to W 5th location - they are busy but at least they're not trying to make you pay more money than agreed. read more

These folks are fabulous! I was in a minor collision with a woodland creature, causing me to be separated from my own car for 6 weeks (lengthy time due to slow as mollasses insurance assessor whom I believe must be commuting from another state). Fortunately I have rental car coverage and Shannon, Jared, Scott and I believe Maggie have dealt beautifully with both myself and my tardy insurance. Not only did they offer friendly pick ups, they also found a Prius for me when the Taurus didn't fit into my parking space so that I saved on gas, too! And when I dropped the first car off after hours and dropped my housekeys with the rental keys into the drop box, they were kind enough to call me in the morning to let me know they had them, and furthermore, to allow my boyfriend to pick up the keys for me as I had an early morning flight (hence the after hours drop box). Great service! I'm really hoping there are no more accidents in my near future, but if I have any need for a rental in Austin, I'll definitely be coming back. read more

At first the insurance company was trying to only give me a little tiny car which would not suite my needs(being that I own a truck). All the employees there were very friendly. I usually rent through Enterprise, and it's usually a painless experience. That wasn't the case on my most recent visit. My car had broken down, and the auto repair guys were nice enough to drive me to this Enterprise location to get a rental for the day. When I walked in, I was told there were no cars available due to SXSW, even though the website indicated that that particular location had several cars available. They suggested I try one of their other locations, and I asked if they had a shuttle to get me there or if someone could come get me (I mean, the company slogan is "We'll pick you up"). They said no, but told me I could call a cab. Thanks Enterprise! This isn't a trend in my car rental experiences, and I realize it's a stressful time of year for them, but in a city with less than stellar public transit, I assumed the employees would be a bit more helpful to potential customers. read more

Visit this location when employees aren't taking their lunch break and understaffed. That's the excuse for being 50 minutes late to pick me up 1.1 miles down the road. Nonstop excuses, horrible customer service, argumentative. I am shocked by the poor customer service. The manager pretty much Ignored me when I tried to talk to her and then argued with me. The coworker argued as well. There wasn't any rectifying of the situation. Normally when a business is in the wrong they accept the blame. That's how customer service works. Any time I have needed a vehicle - from the $22/day weekend special to the cargo van - Enterprise has had great vehicles at an excellent price. The folks at the counter are always friendly and work to make the process of checking out/in the vehicle as fast and efficient.
