I needed a 24 hour lease as my car repair was taking longer than expected. I called Enterprise on College Street in Amherst to book their least expensive compact car. Unfortunately, they had no available cars that day but offered me a pickup truck for the same price. I accepted the truck and that part was fine. (The truck was very clean, easy to drive and easy to get used to. ) We arranged a time and I was picked up as I live within the specified distance for this service. What I want to stress about this experience is how downright friendly and nice the staff is at College Street Enterprise. It did not feel forced for business reasons- the two young men I dealt with on Aug. 17-18 were professional, helpful and genuinely warm, lovely human beings. Sadly this is all too rare today. Before traveling cross country for our honeymoon we looked at a few different rental agencies before deciding to book with Enterprise. The largest reasons we chose this branch was because of the UMass pricing as well as the fact a coworker recommended this particular office. When we arrived to acquire our vehicle we were warmly greeted by the staff and we were quickly provided a vehicle. The car was nice and the staff made it a point to provide us with all the information we needed for the trip. When we eventually returned from the trip the staff again greeted us at our vehicle and they made our check out quick and painless. Not a lot of places to rent a car in the Pioneer Valley. I began my vacation in New York and traveled to Amherst with my friend so I decided it was best to rent a car in Amherst and drop the car back at LaGuardia on my way out. I booked a reservation with Enterprise on August 12, 2019 to pick up a "Nissan Versa or similar" on October 12th, 2019 in Amherst and drop it at LaGuardia on October 15th, 2019. On the morning of Thursday 10/10/19 I received a phone call from this office confirming my reservation and I said I would definitely be there. When I got to this office in Amherst 10 minutes prior to my scheduled pick up time on Saturday 10/12 I was told they had no cars. I was panic stricken. Then she said I have 1 truck if you would want a truck. So I was like what kind of truck? A Ford F-150 pickup truck. I said I guess I can deal with it. If I didn't have a car my entire vacation was ruined. I dealt with the pickup truck for the remainder of my trip but it was not what I wanted to drive around tiny Northeastern towns with limited street parking. It was so tall I had to use my arms to pull myself up into it. Also, it wasn't what I wanted to drive through the New York boroughs of the Bronx and Queens on my way to LaGuardia. Can you imagine driving an extended cab short bed giant pickup truck through New York? Yeah, me neither, but I did it. Finally the car had not been cleaned from its last outing. I've used Enterprise before without issues but honestly big fail for this office in Amherst. I made do with the truck but it impacted the rest of my vacation. read more

You cannot rent a car with a debit card at this enterprise unless you have car insurance of your own. Other enterprises put holds on your account or require utilities or proof of address or charge a high amount for insurance if you don't have a credit card, but this one won't even let you rent. The enterprise is northampton charges $45 a day for insurance if you have a debit card and no other car insurance (which many people obviously don't bc they're renting a car as opposed to driving one they own). A better choice for debit card renters is the Hertz in south Hadley, which only charges $25 a day for insurance in this situation. They'll pick you up at mount holyoke. Also, none of this info re: debit cards is provided anywhere on the Internet. If you're not gonna let me rent a car, it should say that when I'm booking on the website, or at least a question should be whether I have a credit card. Reserving weeks in advance and finding out that I couldn't rent a car the day of really sucked. read more

Trash place, I made a appointment few days ago and come here on time. Then the employee said they don't have car for me and she can do nothing. They didn't call me to let me know they don't have any car. If you guys really want you car on time, don't choose this "Family Company". And this is second time they said they can't give me a car on time. It is so ridiculous let customers to pay their mistake. The Enterprise team in Amherst is at the top of their game with their professional approach and excellent customer service. I am always taken care of with the utmost attention to detail. I have been renting from this location for 5 years and I couldn't be happier. The team there now is super friendly, incredibly efficient and they always get me in and out fast with a great car. I reserved a seven-passenger mini van at this location weeks before our trip to Amherst from across the country. Enterprise in Amherst even called several days before our trip to confirm that I, indeed, needed the rental. I confirmed that I did need the rental. On the day of the rental I arrived at the office and noticed there wasn't a single car on the lot. I had a bad feeling that was quickly confirmed when the rental agents confirmed they didn't have a single car for us. They said they tried to get vehicles from many of the other Enterprise offices around but had no luck. The closest inventory was down in Hartford, Connecticut, at the airport. The short story, I was unable to rent anything and was left with no choices at all. At least the agents were polite and empathetic. I recognize this wasn't their fault specifically but a system malfunction in general. It makes it hard to support the local agent, though. read more

I was very pleased with Enterprise in Amherst for a couple of reasons. Although I reserved in advance, they still confirmed with me a couple days before and were ready to come and pick me up at my hotel. I was a guest professor at UMass, and even though I had a AAA discount, they gave me their UMass rate which made it very low-cost. The other reason is that they are closed on Sundays, which means they would not check the car back in until Monday morning. I rented on Saturday, so I essentially got an extra day (Sunday) to have the car if needed. Thank you for your professionalism and care. read more

The next week ( the young woman on the phone acts like they don't rent that vehicle and quotes prices that are nearly double. I had the discount as a staff at UMASS, which made it a very cheap price. The car I had was new model with all options and high-technologies. I truly recommend this car rental. read more

This is truly one of the best Enterprise locations I've ever been to and I travel all over US/Canada. Car type: Toyota Carolla With who: My parents Duration of rental: 3 days Staff: The staff was generally very friendly. We were serviced by a guy whose name starts with a 'T' (Tyler? I can't remember, but he was really young) who was extraordinarily friendly, albeit in a overly-eager-smiling-peace-sign-car-salesman-y way. On the whole, the rental process was efficient and took around 25 minutes to complete. Car: The car itself was quite clean on the inside and very spacey for a family of three. Additionally, as demonstrated when we hit a 200 lb bear, the airbags were fully functioning. So I don't know how to transition to this part but GET THE FULL INSURANCE. Granted, the insurance may cost even more than renting the car itself but from my experience (car accident) it was extremely, extremely worth it. (Here's where I get into specifics of how the car insurance helped, so if you don't want to read it, it's not that important as long as you remember to GET THE FULL INSURANCE!!!!!!!!!!). Okay, as a result of hitting the bear literally in the middle of nowhere (aka Florida, Massachusetts), the front part of the car had caved in and the windows had been damaged---this would've cost us at least several thousand dollars, had it not been for the INSURANCE. Then, due to our location we had get a taxi ride (at least an hour) to our hotel, which was also covered and arranged by Enterprise through our INSURANCE. Finally, since all the nearby Enterprises were closed on Sunday we had to get a replacement car from Bradley International Airport in Connecticut, which was covered by our INSURANCE. Get. the. insurance. Enterprise as a whole: I cannot stress how important the Roadside Assistance 24-Hour number folks were during and after our accident. The first lady I got on the phone with was with me for nearly an hour and helped arrange everything (car-related) that we needed. I was also on the phone with around 4 other people, each of whom were as friendly and helpful as the next. Furthermore, Enterprise has a very efficient way of storing information (they give a roadside assistance number so that whoever you call next on the number has immediate access to your information) so everything went through very fast. Finally, I would like to say that while I am all for trying new things, there are some things that I shall keep using for as long as possible such as good leather shoes and Enterprise Rent-A-Car. read more

I have had occasion recently to use Enterprise for 3 back to back rentals when my car had some serious problems and I had a trip out of town as well. I was very impressed with the care taken by the staff to ensure vehicles that met my requirements and timeliness for the pick up and drop off arrangements for the cars.
