Normally I stay at Best Western and decided to book this one since its a 3 min drive. Yesterday mid day I received a call from Ulises who was pleasant and wanted to confirm my reservation. I was shocked and thanked him. After sightseeing we pulled in at 3:08PM in which I was greeted by Eddie who thanked me for being a loyal member, asked me how my day was going, throughly explained the hotel amenities. He is truly an asset and should be the poster child for Holiday Inn. There were no towels in the pool area and gladly provided and apologized for not having any. We normally like to stay on the 1st floor to avoid the hassle of 1 elevator and walking a football field length to get to your room while lugging your stuff. Eddie was able to accomdate us in a lower level room. The room is nice and quiet. Next morning, I needed change for the dryer and Edgar Loza greeted me and also was very attentive and engaging with me. I am a morning and people person so this speaks volume but can see those who are not could be bothered by it. Overall the place is nice and has everything that we are seeking.

This was a room for 4 people as it had 2 queen beds. I received a phone call at 1:45pm letting us know our room was ready which was a surprise as the website states check in is at 3 pm (no complaints there). We arrived as soon as we could and were greeted when entering. I let them know who I was and they charge the card for the room plus they do need you to pay in the hotel a $100 deposit which according to the man who checked me in , I get back. I'm still waiting for the deposit but I want to assume it takes 3-5 business days. After the deposit we received our two cards for the room. The rooms were an ok size , equipped with dove supplies like hand soap, body lotion, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. In the bathroom there was 2 towels, a rug , 1 hand towel, and a blow dryer. Next to the bathroom they do provide you with a coffee Keurig , 3 coffee pods, English tea bags, sugar and cups. On the same counter there are a few clear cups and your ice tub . Above those items they do have a microwave for those who want to warm up food. Now the beds were really comfy including the pillows and sheets, my kids claim it was the best sleep they've had in a while! It was also nice to have a tv that can turn to the side, a desk, cabinet and drawers. Bonus is the room also came with a chair in the corner and a little table for meals. Room was very clean , including the counter tops! During the night we went in the pool located in the back corner away from the hotel, it was small only reaching to 5 ft and no jacuzzi. During this time it also seems that this is the rush hour as there was no one in the front and 2 people were waiting in the line to get checked in . It took a while to get towels and they don't answer the room phone for service so there's that as a negative. Now I think the best part was the free breakfast that had a lot to offer. They had the following available for drinks: coffee, tea, orange juice, cranberry juice, apple juice , and milk. For food: cinnamon bun, bread, bagels, muffins, pancake machine, Greek yogurt , scrambled eggs, sausage patties and links, white egg cheese omelette that has onion and bell peppers, cereal and oatmeal . This was probably the best all you can eat breakfast I've had, the eggs had some water in them but I think it's because they're steamed with water so it gets absorbed . Located on the bottom floor is the ice machine and on the second floor next to the elevators there is a laundry room charging $1.50 to wash and $1.50 to dry, there is no soap machine so it be best to buy some of you are planning to use. The location it self is really close to CBX and Tijuana , it was also nice that this location is not on a Main Street but hidden in the middle of a lot of business/ warehouses. So that means you don't really have to worry about strange people attempting to take your car as it's far away from people who aren't staying in the hotel. Under the counter is a small fridge that was working great! I would definitely be coming back here if I need somewhere to stay when I'm down in San Diego!

I am rewriting this review from a 2023 visit…read more We had this trip planned for weeks to celebrate my man's birthday in June, so our expectations were high. We booked a hotel stay for two nights. I reserved one room directly through the Lucerna website and he booked two additional rooms through Expedia. Unfortunately, both bookings were charged a night's stay in advance, even though Expedia was not supposed to charge anything until check-in. At check-in, the staff at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. The bellman was especially kind and was going along with our jokes-- he was honestly the best part of our stay. From there, things quickly went downhill. Our key cards stopped working on several occasions, requiring multiple trips back down to the front desk to have them reactivated. The biggest issue was that the air conditioning did not work in any of the rooms. We called the front desk several times, but no one ever answered -- the phone just rang and rang. That night, we were forced to sleep with the balcony doors open, which resulted in mosquitoes and flies coming into the room. Because we couldn't reach anyone, we also weren't able to order room service. Again, the phone rang endlessly with no answer, so we ended up ordering Domino's from across the street. We spent time at the pool while the kids swam. The area itself was very nice and inviting, but the pool was dirty, with leaves and debris floating in the water. We asked a security guard if servers came out to the pool area. He initially said yes and went to call someone. After waiting about 15 minutes, we asked again and he then mentioned that pool service is only available during the summer -- something that would have been helpful to know upfront. We ended up going inside the bar to order drinks and carried them back out ourselves. About 30 minutes later, staff came out to clean up the pool That same day, we followed up again about the AC. The front desk told us maintenance had already taken care of it the day before, which was not true -- no one had come and the rooms were still hot and humid. Eventually, someone did come to check both rooms, but nothing was fixed. This is supposed to be a luxury hotel, yet the experience did not reflect that at all. It is extremely overpriced for the quality of service and the number of issues we encountered across all three rooms. We paid over $250 per night, stayed for two nights and booked three rooms, only to leave feeling extremely disappointed. Unfortunately, we will not be returning to this Lucerna location. I gave it 1 star only because we made the stay fun, despite all the flaws and disappointments. And the interaction with the bellman really made a difference.

Their prices are good and you won't feel ripped off. You will be happy. The rooms are a nice size and kept up. The maid service is great. The staff is super and can guide you if this is your first time to Tijuana. I love the place to eat here. It is just the best. They have traditional Mexican food which is outstanding and they also have great American food. We love their pancakes and eggs. Their tacos are great as is any fish dish. They have bottled water in the room, which is a must. Do not drink tap water anywhere in Tijuana. The location is great. It is within easy walking to many fun spots, including shopping. The rooms are super clean and although it can get loud outside, the inside is quiet and comfortable. It even smells great. You will love it. Have fun.

Prices have doubled since coming here first. Points went from 5k to 8k- please don't up it any more :). Guest profile has changed and with it more English speaking staff. US workers in scrubs moonlighting on the weekend, patients over from US for medical procedures, catering to this new clientele has made this hotel busier and a little more pricey than before. I wonder how they will compete when the Westin opens right next door? Location is truly perfect, it's an easy drive from the U.S. made easier now with the hotel and gastronomy zone signs as you cross the San Ysidro border. The hotel offers covered, gated underground parking for your car. It feels secure and I've never had any issues or incidents (touch wood) ever. Breakfast is included with your stay and has improved over the years, not that it was ever bad, they just offer a much larger and quality selection than before and restock often, again being more busy I imagine helps with that. Staff are always great , very helpful, and bilingual. If the bar ever looks unattended it's because they often double at reception. Just look to the front desk for assistance. For a Hyatt place - it's one of the best - that's why we keep coming back, better than the San Diego counterparts. Adrian, at the breakfast station is our favorite staff member. He's always so helpful, attentive and he deserves a shout out. I would love if they made Pozole on Saturday mornings - but alas it's a Sunday morning treat. Having it on Saturday too would be the icing on the cake. Something to work on: I enjoy a late checkout and appreciate not being disturbed. Do not disturb sign on the door doesn't mean they won't knock, or try to come in. Housekeeping should observe this request, even if they are being nice and checking to see if you need more towels. If you like clean, they are obsessively clean - occasionally the chemicals bother me in the lobby but I appreciate their attention to cleanliness. Overall solid 4 star rating.
