I would strongly discourage anyone--especially parents--from seeking care at this dermatology office. Our experience was defined by a complete lack of communication and follow-through. For months, we struggled to get prescriptions sent to the correct pharmacy. We spoke with multiple staff members, yet information was never properly relayed, and the same issues kept happening over and over again. We also spent months trying to get a prior authorization completed. On several occasions, we were told it had been submitted, but we later confirmed it had not been sent at all. This level of mismanagement is unacceptable, especially when patients are relying on timely treatment. Attempts to escalate the situation were equally frustrating. We left multiple voicemails for management requesting a call back to resolve these ongoing issues, and not once did anyone return our calls. To make matters worse, the front desk staff was often dismissive and disrespectful, which only added to an already stressful situation. Ultimately, we sought care elsewhere. Our new dermatologist processed the prior authorization the same day, and we had the prescription in hand within two days. This clearly shows the issue was not with our insurance--it was with the lack of care, organization, and accountability at this office. The most upsetting part of all is that the patient is a child who has been in pain and discomfort throughout this entire process--frequently crying and asking why his "boo boos" still hurt. No family should have to go through this due to preventable administrative failures. If you are looking for prompt, compassionate, and competent care--especially for your child--I would strongly recommend going elsewhere. read more

I had been a patient for about five years for yearly checkups, and was always told to call if I ever saw a suspicious spot. Well, I did get a spot that needed to be seen. I called, and the the very rude person who took my call refused to book an appointment. Without asking for my insurance card or number, she said I could not not have an appointment without a referral. I tried to tell her I did not need one, but she would not listen. I got an appointment the next day at another place and it turned out to be a squamous cell that needed excised. I won't be going back to English Dermatology. read more

I had a pleasant visit at English Dermatology today with nurse Mindy who looked at a concerning rash. She allowed me to voice my concerns without feeling rushed! I find that extremely important to have with your health care provider. The lobby was spacious and the check in process was quick (they texted me a link to check in prior to my appointment). The checkout girls were so sweet too. Overall, 4 stars because the initial woman I spoke with over the phone to make the appointment was rude and recommended me to go to a different location. read more

Dermatologist told me that I would be coming back to have an incision closed after a biopsy. Instead, I ended up having a large scalp flap, which was extremely painful and I did not receive adequate pain medication to cover the first few days postop. After a few days, some of the sutures on the incision burst, and my incision began to ooze and bleed for several days, ruining multiple pillowcases. On follow up there were a couple of prescriptions that were going to be sent in for me. I waited all day and called the pharmacy and they said they did not have the prescriptions. I called the office and they said the doctor sent all of his prescriptions in at the end of the day. Seriously? I really needed those prescriptions now. At least if he had mentioned this to me, I would've had lower expectations. read more

I had a surgery appoitment scheduled for two weeks in advance. When I showed up after a 40 minute drive from my home, the receptionist told me she just left me a message 4 minutes earlier saying they needed to reschedule becuase I would require mohs and not conventional surgery which they already knew when they scheduled the appointment. I never received the so called message so I wasted 40 minutes in each direction and the receptionist didn't seem to care. I'll be having my surgery elsewhere. read more

A few days before my appt. I spoke to someone at the front desk, as they asked me what I was scheduling for. I explained to them in detail my issue and asked if this is something they deal with there in the office? She put me on hold to ask someone there, and told me yes, but they would need to see me. I was seen promptly, which was great not having to sit in a waiting room for an hour. Taken into a room where an assistant, took my story again and some pictures. A PA came in, and I could tell right away she was not comfortable with this or me, she was very timid. She took a measurement of the cyst and said they don't do these procedures, and she was going to refer me to a surgeon. She gave me two names and numbers, and I was gone in 5 mins. I asked for my copay to be returned and they said no. I said you told me that you deal with these procedures and then push me out the door. I was not happy with the way this was handled with me. I understand procedures can't be diagnosed over the phone, and that one situation is different then another, but if I'd asked to do a job and the job is to big or U can't get someone I work with to help. I DO NOT CHARGE THEM, AND GIVE THEM A REFERENCE. That reference isn't across town 20 miles out of the way. read more

My husband and I went to see Kellee English, the visit was pleasant and interesting all at the same time. We were greeting by a loving young women, called back for our appointments for our yearly skin check, but due to issues I was having with my hair. I had to either do the skin check or the hair check. I chose the hair check, Kellee and her team were very nice and explained everything well. Kellee said she would like to see me in 2 months and we could do a recheck on my hair and my yearly skin check. Well when we got to where you checkout, that's when we had the very unhappy employee who was rude and frankly not very nice!!! To the point of I am not sure I will return. I have thought about this a lot, I understand we all have BAD days, trust me I have had them myself. Now I have to remember this is her job, and that I am a paying customer, yes I said customer because in the long run when we go to a doctor we are their customer, and I should be treated with respect and not looked at or treated like I was stupid! I am done with rotten people getting away with being rude, I did not grow up this way and will no longer allow poor treatment from anyone and again I am the customer. read more

I bought my daughter here yesterday after confirming her date of birth for apt. They sent my husband something confirming her date of birth as well. When we arrived, they said that the PA or nurse we made the appointment with does not see children under the age of five. So obviously, we left, and we will make an appointment with another clinic, who is actually organized. I think what is most upsetting is when we walked in she told us that we couldn't be seen and why with no apology only blaming the call center. There was only one other person in the clinic, so I'm not sure why they couldn't have figured this out ahead of time and canceled the appointment or let us know. read more

I think this place is decent. I didn't like that I had to wait almost 30 minutes to see a doctor but people who had arrived after me were being seen by a doctor before me. The doctor was really nice and reassuring and so was the medical assistant. However, I am not 100% satisfied with the removal of a bump I had. It seems like it still there. I might return so they can fully remove it if I don't see any improvement. The doctor told me at the time I shouldn't have to return but maybe I'll have to. I am also very pregnant and they saw me struggling trying to get up from the medical table and no one offered to help me. They do not answer their phones. The option to press 1 and leave a message just leads to more music and a request to press 1 again...and again... and again. All I needed was to see if we could get a rx refill on a 2-year old prescription. Last time I called they were rude about not having received faxed documents from another doctor. These are very rude nasty vile people. My grandfather waited 4 months for his appointment.And when the day came we checked in. Had Him wait 1:35 before they called to the front and told him that they weren't going to help. Gave absolutely no explanation. Now he was wearing his "TRUMP2024" on his military service hat. Even other patients were shocked at how disgracefull he was treated. I hardly ever leave bad reviews, but I just have not had a good experience here. The front office staff has always been lovely. However, the nurse practitioner I was seeing was really not great. I went in to be seen for my acne that had got out of hand. I probably came to this office 4 times over the span of 3-4 years. Every appointment I had was less than 5 minutes. She never once asked me what my current skin care routine was, anything that could've caused it, never asked me my skin type, etc. she prescribed me 3 different products within 2 minutes of the first time meeting me. I tried them all and although they worked, I didn't want to be taking medications all the time. She basically told me my only option was to go on Accutane or I'll just grow out of it (I'm 26). Visited this provider in 2018. My issue has continued and I'm attempting to be seen by another provider. On 7/27/23, I visited the English Dermatology website to seek information about how to release my medical records to the new provider. Under their "Patient Resources" page, there is a link "Submit a request for medical records". [The page for reference: https://www.englishdermatology.com/patient-resources/] This request link directs you to a service called Sharecare.com. I received a receipt of my submission/request to my email immediately. I waited two weeks and did not hear any word from English Dermatology. I called their office on 8/8/23 and was told they did not receive such a request from me. The attendant on the phone said that she would need to email me a new request form. I again explained that I already submitted the request on their website. She said, quote, "We don't receive those". ????? Incredulous as to why a form would be on their website that they don't receive I asked, "Well, then why is it on your website?" She responded, "I'm not sure, ma'am." Short answer - if you want to enure you have a doctor's office that is responsible and from which you can ever receive your records again - don't use this place. read more

Appointment took about 30 min from start to finish and did three biopsies. Her assistant Dakota, I believe was efficient and they worked well together. Checkout staff was friendly and efficient. What a waste of time!! Scheduled an appointment to have a mole checked. Received a last minute text on the day of the appointment at 6:54am saying my appointment needed to be canceled. I called as soon as their office was open, they booked me for appointment later the same day. But I specifically asked how the appointment would take since I had another commitment. They reassured me about 15 minutes. I arrived at 1:30 for a 1:40 appointment. By 2:15 hadn't been seen by anyone. Had to walk out because could not be late to my 3pm appointment. I asked they not bill my insurance and have an office manager call me. Was told they didn't have an office manager but that Beth would call me. Not sure I believe that will happen. The amount of reminders I was sent via email, phone and text to make sure I made it to my appointment is ridiculous. The fact they will charge you if your a no show. But they don't care they wasted my time or fuel. Won't be going back. Will find another practice! read more

Though Dr. English was booked out 3 months, I was able to get right in with Kelly English and was very happy. I was also very happy with my check-up. I came here on a recommendation- and saw Annie Sullivan - who was also recommended. I had a full body look over with my moles and spots. She was a little concerned about a couple of spots on my nose and prescribed a cream to put on it for two weeks. She told me that if it isn't pre-cancerous, nothing will happen- but if it is cancerous, the spots will turn red and flakey. Ok- so I go pick the cream up at the pharmacy and start right away. After 7 days, not only is my entire nose on fire, but my eyes are starting to feel burning as well. I call the office - only to have them say I probably got it too close to my eye- to be careful- and continue for another week. I waited 4 more days and called AGAIN because by this point, I'm thinking someone should look at me- It didn't feel right and I was miserable!! But it happened to be a Friday- and no one called me back. My daughter, who happens to be a PA took one look at me Friday and told me to stop. She then told me they gave me a topical chemo cream and it looks like a bad reaction. They finally called me on Monday and asked if I had stopped- I told them I had - but only because my daughter helped me - not their office!! They offered no help- no apology- no, "Can you come in so we can see what's going on and possibly give you something to help the pain." They offered nothing!! I will never return! I saw my naturopathic Dr two days ago and even she prescribed something to help me heal. It's been 3 weeks and my nose is still on fire. Shame on this business to not offer a patient any help or knowledge of their own practice!! read more

Went there for three years with care that was not professional or caring for much of it. Was treated for multiple skin cancers. Now my Life ins company is being told after repeated requests that I was never a patient. My portal account exists which is interesting if I was never a Patient. However it is empty of all History. It is required by law that a doctor maintains medical records. Evidently English has a problem with that. read more

When I called about it, she suggested I wait two weeks then come back to have the rest removed. What a pain, to heal from this then have to go through it again. Dr. Mindy H. is the person you'll want to see here. A year ago, my acne was severe and embarrassing. I was depressed and insecure. I rarely left the house unless I absolutely had to. That's when I started seeing Mindy. She got me on an Accutane treatment plan. At first, I was scared to try the drug because I read about it online...and we all know how that goes. But Mindy completely eliminated my fear. Throughout my 7-month treatment, she was extremely attentive and made sure I understood everything that was going on. I had no complications. No Accutane horror stories. And by the time I was done, my face was 100% clear. Accutane is a more invasive treatment than anything I've ever tried. It's not an easy decision to make. But if you choose to take that leap, make sure you choose Dr. Mindy to help you along the way. Because of her, I leave my house every day feeling great. read more

If there was such a thing as ZERO stars that's how I would rate this practice-all of them not just the Ahwatukee location. We went in for a routine scan and they found a somewhat irregular spot on my sons back, they did a biopsy and we never heard back. Being that he's a healthy 21-year-old young man we thought nothing of it, must be fine. Last week (FIVE MONTHS LATER) they called us stating it's precancerous melanoma and it needs to be fully removed with wider margins. We tried to access the pathology report from their online patient portal (because they can't email to you - HIPPA) and it never worked, tried several times. We finally had them print the report which was supposed to be ready when we went in - nope. No one knew anything about it. Finally the office manager emerges with the report and tells me the reason it took them so long to contact us about the pathology is because they had the wrong provider on the report. Meaning it was a doc from one of their other offices. WOW. Quite the system they have if they can't track a pathology report because THEY put the wrong provider on it. We've always had issues with their billing, front office, endless hold times etc to get through but this is absolutely inexcusable. We are now scrambling to get this handled as my son is back to school in college which is in Louisiana. TERRIBLE PRACTICE. read more

Rude! I walk in there's three people at the front office nobody says hello so I just told one of the girls that I was there for an appointment and again just rude they don't technology. They say nothing to you. They act like they are better than you or something. It was really bizarre. This doctor needs to teach his employees how to greet customers and how to be nice. Recently, I went to English Dermatology for a follow up appointment with Kirsten Peterson. During my visit, Kirsten complained about having to wear a mask, stating it makes her feel "tired". She proceeded to pull down her mask and tuck it under her chin during most of my 20-minute visit or so. She was very vocal about her dislike of masks. I then has a consultation with provider "Trina", who's mask was only covering her mouth. Seeing this was sufficient enough to not book an appointment with her for the treatment I was interested in. I will not be returning to English Dermatology as it is evident that some of the providers blatantly disregard adherence to CDC guidance to protect their patients and staff (Kirsten's medical assistant was also subjected to the provider's reckless behavior during my visit), potentially exposing them to COVID-19. read more

Mindy was great she was the one who injected my scar, but the billing department is horrible. I paid my copay for my visit, my visit requires multiple appointments. My next appointment is coming up (it's been over a month since my last one) and I get the text alert to pre-check in. I like efficiency, so I go to pre check in and it says I have a balance. I called to find out the details of the balance and was transferred to billing. The lady in billing said "oh, disregard that balance it actually looks like your claim was denied by your insurance because there was no referral, but I can see a referral attached so I'll need to resubmit it." I'm pissed because you guys had over a month to get this right and now days before my next appointment you're telling me I don't know what to expect because your office messed up. I in fact had a referral because my doctor sent me to you guys, trust me, based on your reviews I wouldn't have chosen to come to you unless I was referred!!! So I told her I'd be canceling since she could not tell what I owed/if I even owed, she said I needed to talk to scheduling and transferred me. She transferred me to a Las Vegas office and they asked why I was calling their location (your incompetent billing dept) transferred again to my actual location of appt and I canceled with the front desk. Now come Tuesday if my appointment wasn't cancelled I have proof. Customer service is so important and a few bad apples can ruin it for the whole team especially those that deal with billing. I'd also like to point out, when my doctor initially referred me here I did look up yelp reviews prior to my first appointment. Definitely had negative reviews and about billing too I believe. I thought everyone's experience is different so I'll just go with it. My appointment was fine, and like I said Mindy was wonderful but it was after the fact, the billing issues and lack of good customer service after the fact that was disappointing, so maybe I should've took heed to the negative reviews. read more

See update below. I have previously have good experience at English Dermatology, but something happened today that really upset me. As the technician Trina came into the room she was wearing her mask down low, revealing her nose. I asked her to please put it in place, and she said that sometimes it slid down. I asked her twice again, and she completely and rudely ignored me, leaving her nose uncovered. I left the room and complained at the front desk. They assured me they would notify the office manager, but I have no guarantee that this happened. As I said, I have previously had good experiences here, but they apparently don't train or manage their staff sufficiently. After our president just came down with the coronavirus today, it's clear that anybody can get this disease and we have to be vigilant about masks. Their web page even says that masks are required for all patients. That should apply to all personnel too. Update: I raised this from 1 star to 4 because of a conversation with the office manager who showed concern for my frustration and promised to address with the violating technician. Although I cannot prove that this will happen, her response seemed sincere. Based on previous positive experiences with English Dermatology, I will give her the benefit of the doubt. read more
