My 50th Yelp review! I wanted it to be on a place that I love, and I've loved coming to Engine 15 for many years now. I remember when it opened, there weren't many other craft breweries in Jacksonville at that time...now there's one that's practically walking distance fr But despite all those new breweries opening, E15 still remains one of my favorites. They have a massive selection of beer on tap, usually about half are house brews and half are guest beers. But regardless of which you choose, there's bound to be more than a few that catch your eye. Engine 15 also does a great job with bottles to go as well as crowlers for most things on tap. My brother lives in Tampa, which has some pretty amazing breweries of its own, but he still requests that I bring down some Engine 15 beer for him most times that I visit. It is a little dark in there, so if you haven't been before, be prepared for that. But if you head all the way to the back, you'll be greeted by several classic arcade games to play while you enjoy your beer. They also have food (assuming you're not here while waiting for a table at Mojo or Taco Lu). Their Cuban sandwich is actually very solid, and surprisingly often better than ones that get recommended to me at other places. Overall I love being able to call Engine 15 a hometown brewery; they may not be nationally known, but locally they make some of the most solidly reliable beers in town. read more

Been wanting to try here. So 3 of us came for a late lunch. We sat down. They weren't busy, but being our first time didn't realize we needed to go to the bar to order. First impression is that the bartenders were cold and uninviting. Wasn't sure we hadn't made a mistake by coming here. They had a small sign we spotted on the table to go to the bar for service. My bf went to the bar with a bartender that at first wasn't very friendly not did he make eye contact. Finally we ordered our drinks, which we had all sodas. But John had a craft cherry cola that was really good. The bartender did make his way over to talk to us. He was pleasant and engaging explanations of the local Florida brews and special events. We appreciated his forthcoming in making us feel more welcome. I split a brisket sandwich and chips with beer cheese queso dip. The aujus was delicious and the sandwich was quite tasty. The beer cheese queso was very good and not overbearing with beer taste. My son had the chicken Caesar wrap. It was a huge wrap that he said was very good which is big coming from someone who always complains about something. I gave a 4 star because of the food and the rebound of customer service Yes we will go back especially due to nearly 50 beer on tap selection. read more

Very good bar food as well; smoked fish dip, soft pretzels, frito pie, brats, chili, flatbreads, and wraps. There is indoor and outdoor seating available, lots of room. We were driving down the road and happened to see this brewery. Who can pass up beer on a sunny Saturday? There is indoor and outdoor seating. There is plenty of parking. No reason not stop by. They had a lot of beer on tap and a lot of it was their own beer--definitely a bonus for us. We were there after an Oktoberfest event, so there were lots of pumpkin beer on tap. I tried the Acker's English Remedy Milk Stout. It was very good and it had a low ABV (less than 5%). The hubby had a flight -- the Nut Sack Double Brown Ale, Das Engine Oktoberfest, Cinotti's Pumpkin Donut Ale, Sandy Cove Kolsch Style Ale and the Lager Than Life. He enjoyed all of his beer but his favorite was the Pumpkin Donut Ale. I tried it and it was delicious. Sweet (maybe it was the cinnamon sugar around the rim of the glass) with a nice hint of pumpkin but it was not overkill. The only negative to our visit was that the kitchen was not serving food. Apparently someone was let go and they did not have anyone to make food. So basically chips and salsa or chips and dip were the only things available to eat. Definitely would return to Engine 15 the next time we were in the area. read more

Engine 15 is much more than a strip mall brewery. It's a laid back location with decent bar food, arcade games and copious amounts of beer. I'd estimate 50 beers on tap; with half of those being brewed on site. The other half are from microbreweries all over the country. My hop-laden tendencies gravitate toward the Double Drop, Old Battle Axe and Route 90. For something darker, I'd recommend the Chupacabra and Nut Sack... (It's the best nut sack out there) What separates Engine 15 from other local breweries is their pub menu. Nothing pairs better with beer than bar bites. The chips w/ beer queso is affordable and tasty. Tonight's short rib sandwich special was adequate, but waiting an hour for food will usually let down one's appetite. The crowd here is a melting pot, which fits Jax to sheer perfection. I appreciate the bottled offerings from Engine 15 that you can find throughout Florida and I'm uber excited to check out their new digs. Cheers to local beer! read more

I don't know what I enjoyed more about Engine 15- the beers or the atmosphere. Came in for flights last night and my boyfriend and I each tried 4 beers (with their many options, it was hard to do just 4!) As a sour beer fan, I was excited to have multiple beers to try. we both found the summer quencher to be our favorite- very smooth with a caramel note. We paired our flights with the frito pie- the perfect snack. The bar was very inviting- we were able to find a table in the bar area which allowed us to watch the games, as well as people watch. We will be back for sure to try some new beers in our flights soon. read more

Man.... I really wanted to like this place. Like 5-star like. I'll start of by saying the brewskis are phenomenal. I tried 2 - a non-local cherry limeade one and a engine 15 gose? (I can't remember now...oops) Either way, they were great. A little on the pricey side but that's expected for locally crafted beer I guess. The food is where I had the most issue. I understand when you want a late night snack your first thought usually isn't a local craft brewery. However, for a bar serving 'bar snacks' I expected quite a bit more. We ordered a soft pretzel that came out quite a bit hard and some chips and queso. They serve the same queso with the pretzel as they do with the chips (not a problem, it was tasty) but the chips were pretty stale and nothing special either. The atmosphere was chill, but it does get a little tight when busy. Overall - I might give it another try (because I'm such a local-loving girl) but it probably wouldn't be my first stop. Not one of my favourite places I've been to with fellow Yeeps. I'm not a beer drinker, so I just had a Mexican Coke. I recently discovered Mexican Coke and I really love it, so I think it's awesome they offer it here. I also ordered one of the large pretzels that came with beer cheese for dipping. The pretzel was very reasonably priced ($3.50 if memory serves correctly), but it was just so-so. I didn't much care for the beer cheese b/c I could totally taste the beer and I really, really don't like beer. Everyone else said the beer cheese was great, so I'd go with their opinion rather than mine b/c they are all beer drinkers. I saw several of my friends ordering the beer flights and I don't think anyone was disappointed. I really wasn't feeling the vibe here and it was really, really hot inside. I'm kinda boggled as to why because it was a nice, cool evening outside. After about 30-45 minutes, I finally made my way out to one of the tables outside and that's where I remained the rest of the time we were there. It wasn't just hot inside, but it was really stuffy too. I had a much more enjoyable time once I got outside. If you're a beer drinker, this place is A-OK, but unless I have friends that choose this place, it's not somewhere I'll go again on my own. read more

As the saying goes, you only get one chance to make a first impression. As though it's always a one-shot deal. It doesn't have to be. And so goes with Engine 15. My first visit was back before growler fills were legal in FL. I'd just moved here and wanted to engage in the brewery scene. The poor way that the law was conveyed as I was leaving, left me with a vow to never return. Fast forward to earlier this year. They were the only brewery close to us that was open and they were serving lunch...a bonus. So I suspended my vow and I'm glad I did. The beer is still quite good and the food is very good. So my lesson is that with a little more information (realizing they had great food, and a mutual frustration with past pesky laws), a bad first impression doesn't have to be the end of a relationship. After a long Saturday night, I was looking for a place to enjoy a beer and some bites. Unfortunately, I came in after 10pm so the kitchen was closed. And my search for a microbrewery with the kitchen open all night continues. With all that aside, the selection of beers is breathtaking. It was overwhelming to pick just one so I enjoyed a flight. Granted it was on an empty stomach, so I had to decline an offer to get a pint of my favorite one. The staff was so friendly and accommodating. Not to mention, I love the fact that you can write your picks on the flight holder with a chalk pen. Located on Beach Blvd at the beach just after the intercoastal, I have raved about this place for years... simply put I would describe it as a dive Brewery bar... (beer, wine, soda)... The ambiance is so casual, with plenty of bar seating, high tops, and picnic tables, they usually have about ten of their own beers on draft and 30+ visiting brews... unless you know exactly what you want the way to go is to start with a flight... you can have 4 pours of Engine 15 beers for $5, or 4 pours of any other brews for $7 (of course there are some minor caviats to that)... Once you've got your craft beer buzz on head back to the back area of the brewery where you'll find a few retro arcade games like Mrs Pacman (so much fun with a second player ;) There is also a front outdoor patio... and they also serve a limited food menu... I do suggest if you need a nibble to clear your palate in between tastings order the beer cheese queso with chips... delish! read more

The beer was decent, I'll give them that. But not good enough to justify returning after a crappy experience. The taproom is crowded, nobody has ANY sense of being in someone else's space (we were trying to sit at a table where we could see the TV and a couple of neckbeards were practically sitting in our laps). But I can forgive that, and I can't hold an establishment responsible if some of their patrons are oblivious. The worst part was the service. I'll apologize to the server if ordering a flight was too much to ask, but you didn't need to roll your eyes when I ordered it. Nor did you need to toss the chalk pen at me. Maybe you don't understand the value of ordering a flight for someone who came in for the first (and now last) time, but that's how I decide which beers I like in a quick and efficient manner. I was so taken aback that I didn't say anything, but I won't be back, either. We left and drove a mile to Green Room, where they were happy to pour SEVERAL flights. We spent a lot of money there that we HAD intended on spending at Engine 15, but I'm glad it went the way it did because Green Room has MUCH better beer. read more

I am beyond excited to share my experience at Engine 15 Brewing with everyone! I honestly wasn't expecting to stop by Jacksonville Beach in this particular trip to Florida, but it almost seemed like a sin not doing so. Luckily, I discovered Engine 15, one of the six breweries that close enough to our destination. Engine 15 Brewing carries a really neat, rustic vibe that all beer lovers can thoroughly enjoy. I love it when brewery lies have barrels of beer all over the store. I'm very excited that I was greeted by folks almost as soon as I swung through the door. I couldn't quite decide if I wanted to take a growler home or possibly a six pack. But after exploring all their options, I felt that the a battle Axe IPA six pack was the way to go. Some nights you're in the mood for a wide selection of craft beers and a laid back environment without the BS of a trendy joint. Engine 15 Brewing is exactly that place. Unassuming and straightforward, this pub is about good times and good beers. The extensive array of taps can be intimidating. If you use the Untappd app you'll find their menu easy to search. Otherwise, the well-lit LCD screens above the bar inform you of all the delicious brews available. The bartenders never made me feel odd for sampling the drafts or tried to hurry me. They understood that beer decisions take time. I settled on a robust stout named Share This: Mole. The 11% abv beast came in a tiny glass, but had one hell of a kick. My friend enjoyed a Hornswoggled Red Ale and we both chilled at the bar. It was a great way to pass the time. TV's were there if you wanted sports, arcade games for those quarters burning a hole in your pocket, and comfortable seating throughout. This bar was meant for long conversations and loud laughter. I will definitely be coming back to this lovely place and next time I'll make it before the kitchen closes so I can sample those tasty bar bites. read more

This place feels more like a normal bar than it does a brewery. Dark and cramped, it does boost a very long bar. Service is good and they offer a lot of their beers and a larger amount of guest taps - which is nice to be able to try some random things you wouldn't find elsewhere. Food was meh though, but their flights were well priced. I tried 3 of their beers, 2 were good, 1 was not. Not a bad I just wish it was a better atmosphere - I can deal with a brewery not having good food. read more

This is my second time to this brewery and I literally live about 0.1 miles from this location. With that, I came here to meet up with some friends on November 8th. I am participating in the brewery passport program that is offered between all the participating breweries in the Jacksonville-area. I got my stamp and four tasty beers: (2) It's Your Blood (a red ale), (1) Dog's Bullocks (a porter), and Route 90 Pale Ale. All were super yummy. Obviously, I might have been a tad partial to the red ale. Engine 15 Brewing can be a bit loud in the main bar area. Thankfully, there is nook or a cranny, whatever, section in the back where it is quieter. Likewise, there is a patio in the front where customers can drink beer and remember the old times or how work went. The outside patio is magical place where anything can happen. Their prices are pretty fair priced for the various sizes. I wanted to get a crowler, but decided to hold off so I could walk my 0.1 miles home. If I did, I believe it is about $6. The bartenders were friendly and they want me to tell you to visit their brewery. They would love to see you and so you should check it out! read more
