Myrtle Avenue Brewing - Jacksonville Florida Rail Yard District - Beer

They have done a great job with this little nook in the Rail Yard District of Jacksonville. It's not an area I get to often living at the Beach, but I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was, and the beers were really outstanding from the lightest lager to the strongest IPA (I tried a few LOL).

Hubby and I are always on a mission to find great local beer. We finally had a chance to try Myrtle Ave Brewing and it did not disappoint. This brewery has the best vibe! It's located in the rail yard district, close to downtown and they have ample parking out back. I loved the variety of seating options both inside and outside - couches, barstools, Adirondack chairs, tables, benches. Also lots of areas for kids to hang out and play. It's possibly the most kid-friendly brewery I've seen. We tried a few different brews and all were great. I really enjoyed the coffee Porter. Definitely worth stopping in for a quick brew!

I checked out Myrtle Ave Brewing this weekend as I was attending an event next door. Cute outside area with wonderful smelling bbq for sale. Inside was cool! The tap area seemed to have gold on the wall behind the taps. Very sheik and classy. If you have kids, there were games and toys to entertain your children while you relax. They also sold a snack pack with cheese, crackers and other snacks. I loved the casual area in the back corner with vintage couches and chairs. Made me feel right at home. The service was good and the beer was tasty;) I'll be back to try some other draft options.

Myrtle Ave Brewing is a place that makes me happy when I know I'm coming near their area are able to stop in. I always enjoy their IPA's and their vibe is kick back. They have a great outdoor space and had a vendor cooking up some BBQ. Smelt delicious... f you can catch a event here it's usually a good one and They are family friendly so bring the kids, bring the dog and for sure bring grandma...

Thanks to the Jax Ale Trail, we've been to seemingly every brewery in the area. This is our second time working through the trail so we were excited to visit Myrtle Ave since they were added this year. I'll get the minor complaint out of the way: the staff. Don't get me wrong, we weren't treated horribly or anything but no one we interacted with seemed to care that we were customers. Again, this isn't a huge deal overall but we're just kind of used to really nice, talkative people at all the breweries in the area. The guys we interacted with were just kinda like "what do you want? OK, here you". Not rude, but not nice if that makes sense. Everything else was GREAT. We liked the inside but we really liked the outside. There's tons of seating both in completed cover and partially covered areas. Like many breweries, it's pet friendly and kid friendly which is great too. We will definitely be back to spend more time here.

Great place if you have kids. There is a play area outside and inside the brewery. There is a BBQ pop up outside and they host other food trucks/businesses through out the week. They also have nitro cold brew from a local roaster on tap! The bar tenders and staff are super friendly and can help you with any suggestions or questions you may have. Whole there I saw that they host classes throughout the month. I saw pasta making! If your in the area check them out!

Beautifully renovated! More space available inside. Beer selections were very good! The only 2 things I didn't like was that it was very dark inside. However, during the cooler months they have the ability to open up the garage doors. Also, when you walk in the children's play area is right by the door. Toys were on the floor and someone could easily trip on one or even the children playing. The play area might be better in the corner. But, we'll definitely be back!

We were at the glass factory next door for a Yelp Event and we crept over here to get a beer. I really like the atmosphere and vibe of this place. A nice selection of beer and the bar area was really cool. They also had a cool "lounge" area with a few games to occupy your time as you drink .... and of course some TV's for your sports viewing pleasure. Looks like another Brewery to add to my rotation.

This is Myrtle-she is very friendly!

We love supporting our local craft breweries! Very good beer, bartender was super friendly, the outside patio was comfortable, and the building is so very cool! I couldn't get enough of Myrtle the cat who greeted us immediately when we walked through the door!

Listening to the jazz band outside! On Thursday nights 6-8 they will be playing
Lauren R.

How awesome is this place?! Dog friendly. Toddler friendly . Blues, Brews & BBQ on Thursday nights from 6-8 means the jazz band is popping. The 'food truck' bbq is smokin'! And the brews are on tap. Enjoyed the coffee rub pork belly with Mac and cheese. The dry cider was nice! And I liked the tangerine lime sour. Brought my morkie Arrow and the kids were loving playing with him. So many toys and little playground spots for the children. My favorite part was the live band and the indoor/outdoor open flow.

So spacious
Ryan C.

Such a cool atmosphere! So spacious and well designed, which is great cause I can see us sitting here for HOURS drinking some incredible beer. We are so glad that there is another awesome brewery in town to check out and if you like beer, take some time and come visit. I had the Springfield Sour (collab with Historically Hoppy) and my wife had the Snake Bite (Silver Dollar Lager with MAB Special Dry Cider) and we loved them both.

Ruby Beach Brewing Company is located in downtown Jacksonville across from Yates Municipal…read morebuilding. It is reasonable paid parking, about $2 and hour. Inside is a little tight, but it is an old building with naked bricks, historic decor, a good sized bar and tables inside. Outside is a deck with covered tables, another area for corn hole and a food truck which has all the major bar food groups including churros. Sean was my beertender and he really was the best. They have a policy of holding your card for tabs which I really hate, but he made me feel comfortable about leaving my life in his hands. When I first walked in on a weekday during happy hour, it was pretty light, but around 4:30p the place started filling up. Happy hour is Monday - Friday until 6pm and they have 18 taps which qualify for happy hour. Plus they had 3 guest taps, both ciders. Ruby Beach has a mug club, it is about $80 for the year. You get a free beer on Tuesday as well as your own numbered mug. It is limited. So exclusive in fact that they do a raffle every August. The BEER: Crown Jewel Belgian Tripel 11.4% ABV... easy drinking, not boozy and quite delicious, this one will sneak up on you Return of the Mac Daddy Pale Ale 5.5% ABV... the description is "rye pale ale hopped with Amarillo. On the first sip I thought one note, but boy was I wrong. As it warms it has layers. And in my opinion the layers are all good, like a good lasagna. Over the Ditch 15.0 NEIPA 6% ABV... if I was in front of a firing and they gave me a last request, I might choose this beer. Sweet grapefruit and stars... love this! Grit & Glow Lager 5.2% ABV... if you have ever smelled fabuloso that is what I first smelled when I put the beer to my lips, the beer itself is just as perfumey, not for me... but if you like those type of flavors in beer, you might like this one Rosemary In the Rye Pale Ale 5.5% ABV... all day crushable pale ale, with a slight hint of rosemary, basically the Mac Daddy plus rosemary O'Ruby's Irish Stout 5.5% ABV... smooth coffee with hints of toffee, so ver crushable, but it is way better warm Didn't get to try the food on this visit, but on a side note... the bathrooms are both unisex and CLEAN. Ruby Beach has great beer, great service and personality, everything I want in a brewery. Come visit and see for yourself.

Definitely a must try. You won't be disappointed

I was thinking the outside looks like they made it with Lego, but Lego from an artisan. From what I understand, it was the ice packing plant for the city, converted into a tile shop, converted into a brewery. Really love the end product. I especially love that they have Belgians on tap in Florida, where Belgians are few and far between. The Belgians here, including the hefeweizen were made with love. Before I forget, shouts out to Jeff for answering all my eclectic questions, and being a genuinely all around professional. Love your energy bro, low key and inviting, an authentically good person. The BEER: Weizen Wolf hefeweizen 6% ABV... this is the hefe I remember from Germany, banana and clove goodness BPA Belgian Pale Ale 5.5% ABV... like a party in my mouth, perfectly balanced and so very crushable Hostile Wit-Ness Belgian Wit 4 5% ABV... not what I expected, it has floral notes, is light like jasmine tea with a kiss instead of a bite at the end. And once it gets warmer it opens into something wonderful. St Anthony's Fire Rye Barleywine 10.8% ABV... slightly boozy, a semi sweet, with a delicious finish. This one is one and done. A full pour of this will send you home in an Uber. Southbank Hazy IPA 6.5% ABV... not a basic hazy, some citrus and when it warms up it is so very wonderful I didn't spend much time at Aardworf Brewing Company, but the time I spent was fantastic. I arrived unaware of its history, but the owner's love for basketball is unmistakable, and the locals reflect that same devotion... not just to the sport, but to the space itself. There's an ease here, a sense that people aren't just passing through. I took a seat at the bar, did what one does in such environments, and ordered an IPA. It was solid... confident, balanced, exactly what you'd hope for. But then came the onion rings, which I ordered based on a subtle but unmistakable social cue: everyone else seemed to be eating them. Reader, they were correct. These were not mere onion rings. These were structurally sound, texturally precise, and philosophically complete. Large, fully cooked onions, no trace of that unpleasant raw bite, encased in a crisp, golden coating that somehow maintained its integrity from first bite to last. Crunchy, consistent, and deeply satisfying. Naturally, I paired them with blue cheese dressing because I'm from upstate New York, and that is not a preference, it is doctrine.

The burgers were a highlight; both the regular smashburger and the Bold City burger were excellent, and the tots were a great side to share. However, the pepperoni pizza was underwhelming. Regarding comfort, the main area isn't air-conditioned; while there are fans and it wasn't unbearable on a warm evening, it is something to keep in mind. There is an air-conditioned room available, though it doesn't appear to have TVs. My only major frustration came after we left. We started a tab but left without officially closing it out. I expected a standard 20% gratuity to be added, but instead, over $20 was added as a tip, bringing our total to nearly $92. It would have been better to have more transparency regarding automatic gratuity on unclosed tabs. Overall, it's a cool spot with good burgers, but be sure to close out your tab before you leave to avoid any surprises.
