Upon completion we paid cash and were told to just let them know if there were any problems. About 2 months later, the missed dry rot was reported to us by another contractor performing work for us. We immediately notified ABC Roofing & Solar of the missed dry rot and fully expected they would take care of it because it was clearly visible to the decking portion under the eaves and had simply been missed. First we were told someone would come out. Multiple days passed without word so we called back. They didn't have anyone working in Chico (in the beginning we were told this was a local Chico business but are now told they are based in Redding). To save time and help them understand where the problem was before they came out, we offered to email photos so we were sent a link to do so and our photos were submitted. To our dismay, they responded in writing and "apologized" for the dry rot being missed during their inspections but stated that the only thing they would do would be to charge us for any repairs! They also stated they were not responsible since the City Inspector missed it too. Not the customer service and care we were led to believe we could expect! After this we escalated our communication to a formal complaint and claim against their Workmanship Warranty. We also insisted all further contact be done in writing. Dry Rot degrades the Structural Integrity of roofing support structures. Applying any roofing materials over such is inconsistent with the standards of: California Residential Code, California Building Code, and GAF Product Manufacturers Installation Requirements, and possibly other quality & installation standards and regulations. We trusted their sales department ravings about their excellent performance, high customer satisfaction, and high standing with GAF Roofing Products. We also relied heavily on their publicly published business performance standards and Workmanship Warranty posted on their business website. We are now left baffled and frustrated by their refusal to correct the problem they readily admit in writing that they missed in the first place. We have not been well served or fairly treated by this company. We were only asking that they correct the mistake they admit to missing in the first place. We are retired seniors. We put our trust in this company whom we were led to believe was local. and paid with our hard earned and saved cash.
