This starts with me having a cracked tooth and going to my Dentist in HdG. He refers me to Endodontics in Bel Air. They are to drill out the filling and basically see if the tooth is worth saving. If it can be saved, they will do a root canal and I will then go get it capped. So, I go in for my appointment, we talk, everything seems to be in order. While I am in the chair at some point he says OK we are halfway there (nurse says that means almost finished). When he tells me OK we are done here, I assume he means with the drill and inspection. Nope, Im finished with the root canal. Well that was relatively painless and quick. Not nearly as bad as its portrayed. I ask if everything is ok, he says it went great, everythings great.
Now I'm assuming by the fact that he just went ahead and did the root canal, that the tooth is going to make it. But when I go back to my original dentist a week later to have a cap/crown put on, my dentist is very confused. "I dont know why he bothered to do the root canal, this tooth is split all the way down." Then he grabs a pair of pliers (forsips or whatever they call them) and yanks about half a tooths worth out. So what are you telling me, Doc? "Well, I'll be honest with you, you would be wasting more money even trying to put a cap on this tooth. Its just going to fall off". He advises me to have the tooth pulled.
The course of action I take is fill it in the best you can, and I will just limp it down the road as long as I can. I just paid for a $1000 root canal, Id like to keep my real teeth as long as possible. He tells me he cant guarantee for how long this patch job will hold, but he'll do his best. As a side note: A large chunk of the fake tooth plaster (for lack of a better term) did come off about 3 months later while eating Frosted Flakes.
So this all brings me around to why Im writing this review today. Yesterday, I am in the driveway changing the oil in my wives car and a deputy from the county Sheriff drives up. Super friendly and somewhat apologetic, and tells me Im being served a summons for a an unpaid bill from a dentist in Bel Air. Evidently we had an unpaid balance of $331 at Endodontics (which my wife paid this morning) and Im sure they sent bills or notices and things of the like, but I dont look at stuff like that. My wife handles all of the medical bills and things of that nature. But the point is that you sent the Sheriff, to my house, over a $330 bill, is pretty astounding to me. So lets review.
A) You did not ask to proceed with the root canal. You just did it.
B) Lets assume that it was just poor judgement, and not just a blatant unnecessary procedure to make your, $1000? $1500? (I dont remember right off hand) But the root canal was a waste of time and money.
C) To add literal insult to injury, you sent the cops to my house??? I had no idea that was even a thing.
So, I just wanted to stop and let everyone know MY personal experience with this office. read more
