The first problem concerned a bad mis-diagnosis in 2017 of my elderly mother's dog on which she doted. Arundells' vet insisted that her problems were related to a build-up of fatty tissue and NOT cancer, as we had suspected. After a subsequent and very expensive MRI scanning procedure at another vet, our fears were shown to be accurate and the dog was finally put to sleep. Our own precious retriever/spaniel cross became ill one night and we had to take him into Bennetthorpe in the early hours of the morning to see what was to be done. I am sure that nothing could have been done to save him, he was 13yrs old, but we felt that over £600 in less than 6 hours was a fairly hefty fee to pick up a dead body. This week our latest and final problem has occurred with our Labrador puppy who has been registered here since June 2019 when we got him at 10 weeks old. It may have been difficult to spot a hip issue at his early health-check and attendance for immunization, but we had an increasing concern that all was not well. He was subsequently castrated (far too young as we are now told, but we were not advised of this by Arundells at the time or we would certainly have re-thought the action). Recently, the arrogance and unhelpful behavior of Arundells' staff was highlighted when we attempted to have them sign off on our Labrador puppy's planned visit to a physiotherapist - what ensued was a veritable circus of poor communication and organization. Ahead of the physio visit, we asked for a consent note from the vet who had seen him last. This was agreed to, but the consent order was wrongly sent for him to be operated on and not for physio. We asked for the proper form to be sent, having booked him in for an appointment that evening. At 5.20pm we received a call from Claire, who warrants a special mention as the self-important 'head receptionist' who apart from being rude and unhelpful refused to send the correct consent order until we had paid for him to be seen again by a vet there. It seems we could have him operated upon, but he wasn't to be permitted a consultation for physiotherapy! Given the time of the return call (5 hours after we had first made the request) there was in any event nobody available at Arundells to see him in time, anyway. Now dealing with the fallout of this encounter, further exploration has shown up a previously undiagnosed issue which we are trying to address - at another vet. All of this is a great shame as we have the utmost respect for the senior vet in this practice, but we would certainly not go back there.

Mrs Wharmby was lovely, she was very calming to both my dog and myself and as an owner who loves her pet like a child was extremely professional in explaining everything she was doing and why (my last vet was very stern which is why I left) and also allaying my fears after I had googled my dogs symptoms stupidly before going! My dog was treated and given medication and food to take home and within 4 days all symptoms had gone, much to my relief. A very busy vets but I was given an appointment on the same day and was seen within 5 mins of my appointment. Staff were polite and cost was reasonable. Large car park, which is needed as people were also driving in with horse boxes x 10/10

Our dog had surgeries at a very young age, too young in fact and has suffered every day since then. Our new vet is horrified at things that have occurred including admitting our dog for days following a stomach upset. Of course when she was a pup they insisted we took out Petplan insurance as they pay them fast and direct. They had left her suffering with numerous conditions but overcharged for things that were not even necessary. There are many other practices locally that will not rip you off and have genuine, compassionate vets that will not rip you and your insurers off

I was advised it will be about £2,000. So I went to swanbridge hospital . We arrived and when we get in the room the vet stated we will carry out bloods x Ray, fluids etc .And as we will be operating on the stomach you are looking at £4000! . I could see the estimate in front of her for the pre op and it was £1011.25 BEFORE even operating so £3,000 to open her up . Thankfully I had the hindsight to ring Peel vets whilst there and they told me to go straight to them. as we were leaving I asked why was I advised ( at cygnet) £2000. Then a person who seemed to be more higher ranking stated off the cuffs - it's never £2000. We left with them showing no interest in our animals welfare! We arrived at Peels(hornsea) and the op was carried out today too the cost of £1300 including 3 night stay and all the other stuff cygnet we're going to do . HOW ON EARTH CAN ANOTHER VET JUSTIFY CHARGING £2700 MORE! What angers me more is that people going to this vet will think these are normal charges across the board. This is evidence that they are not. What concerns me is that Someone who has been to this practice will have had to make the heartbreaking decision to euthanise their pet unnecessarily because of these scandalously outrageous charges, which are not normal.
