I would urge anyone with a pet to bring them to see Bippin at Oakwood Veterinary Surgery. I always…read morefelt at vets that I used for previous pets that I could't quite trust them to put my pet first - they are so focused on making money. Bippin is one of only two independent vets left in Leeds. He is eminently sensible and is happy to go for the 'watch and wait' approach even though that means he makes less money. When my labrador puppy was diagnosed with hip dysplasia and I had been watching too much Supervet he counselled me to hold back on surgery, and I am so glad I did as, with the appropriate meds, he is happy and fit and didn't have to go through months of recovery. Bippin always squeezes me in to pick up medicine or for a quick check if I am worried about something. I really hope he never retires as I could not go back to one of the money making factories like Holly House which look fabulous but in which the vets have profit targets. Yes, the surgery is a little bit scruffy, but what matters is the quality of care and the years of experience that Bippin has. I know he cares because I once went in after he'd had to put a dog down that he had known since it was a puppy and he was really sad about it.

Oakwood Vets actually cared about our cat and made her feel at ease, I would highly recommend him, he has so much experience and cares about animals. He also explains things to you so you know what is going on. I wouldn't take my cat anywhere else.

I have also used this vets for years now and i have to say that yes they are quite expensive but…read morethey are certainly the best. they have always been open and honest with me regarding my dogs and i have always had a really good relationship with the vets and the nurses. and also the receptionists. i would definatly reccomend this vetinary surgery to any body, - but theres no guarentee you would get your animal on the books. as it is a very busy surgery! over all a really good practice! fab

This is a very attentive and responsive vets surgery. I have been using them for years and they…read morehave treated my cats for a variety of conditions as well as carrying out standard practices such as neutering. On more than one occasion they have seen a pet of mine at incredibly sort notice even though their surgery was fullly booked. Not only do they offer a high degree of professional work, they are also very sympathetic to owners worries and situations. I have had to have 2 cats put down here (ironically both in the same room) and on both occasions the vet in charge was so kind and supportive to me I felt like hugging them! It's worth noting both times there was nothing that could have been done to save my animals but the vet did everything possible until it was realised that to continue treatment would have been unkind to the cat as well as being a complete waste of money - so many less reputable vets would keep fleecing owners, saying there's still a chance'. These people might not be the cheapest but they are the best i have come across.

On behalf of my family we would like to thank you for the professional care provided by you. As bills mounted up it was a pleasant surprise to get a revised bill which was less than we had anticipated. The lovely card with her paw prints on made us all cry. It was a lovely touch and we thank you all.

After various tests (heart beat, temperature etc) we were told the puppy would have to stay in overnight in what (I thought at the time) was their capable hands. Steven took blood tests etc then at 4am left him alone (I presume on a drip) in a cage. When the nurse came in the following morning Frank had passed away and was lying in blood from his mouth and bottom. He must have wondered why we abandoned him to suffer alone and ultimately to die alone. Graham has tried to make amends for Frank's treatment by paying for his cremation, sending flowers and covering the insurance excess but nothing will bring my puppy back or take away my grief or guilt that I left him there to die alone. I would never recommend this veterinary practice to anybody and 1 star is an extravagant gesture.

Well, we've been back again, and thankfully there's no drama to tell. No, this was merely a check…read moreup -Milly had evidently gotten into some kind of mischief as the other day she came in with a wee scratch on her back paw. Since it was still giving her a bit of jip a few days later I decided to nip her over to the vet just to check it was healing well, and pick up her favourite (or not so favourite) worming and flea treatments whilst we were there. Of course, despite the three minute journey, she cried all the way there. But as soon as we sat in the waiting room, calm descended. After about 10 minutes, and a warm welcome from the receptionists, we had our appointment. The vet was just so lovely and friendly -I had a lot of questions, as Milly had put on a bit of weight and I was concerned, and everything was answered to put my mind at ease. Her weight, heart rate and all the other regular bits were checked. We snipped her claws back, as I'm too afraid to do it myself, and we checked the aforementioned paw. Everything is healing fine, I'm glad to say, so she's fighting fit. It was fantastic to take her in and know that everything is dandy, and have such a friendly vet talk through everything I should look out for-essentially, I know a few Doctors who could use some lessons in bedside manner from this lady, she was that lovely! We had a minor incident returning to the reception, given that a humungous and nervy Rottweiler had a bit of a bark as we came back through, which unfortunately resulted in Milly producing a rather large and pungent accident in her box. I wasn't sure about the protocal, but mentioned it to the receptionists when I realised, and quick as lightening one of them got up to take her and get her cleaned up! I was so impressed and grateful, especially since I'd be taking her home in a taxi as I don't drive. After five minutes she came back with Milly, her blankets bagged up, and having hosed her down. Amazing! I was just so delighted that they could do that for me. All in all, I'm really lucky to have such a fabulous Vet near by for my cat, and it's pleasure to have to take her in! As for Milly, she's already settled down on my clean pile of washing, so clearly hasn't been traumatised one bit... Hooray!
