Unfortunately my voyeuristic interest in pets of the slimy and scaly variety is all too often spoilt by a shop that keeps its animals in cramped or unhygienic conditions (yes, I know it's not a zoo, but still...). Happily, I encountered no such problems at Tyrannosaurus Pets, an 'exotic' pet store that stocks lizards, snake and amphibians. Quite aside from having one of the best pet shop names ever, this shop is a credit to its trade with a shiny, modern shop floor; helpful, knowledgeable staff and - most importantly - spacious, clean vivariums filled with content animals. When I visited I was quite open about the fact I'd just come for a gawp, but the staff treated me as if I was a paying customer, and told me lots of stuff about the logistics of keeping lizards and snakes that I'd never heard before, despite pet shop loitering being something of a habit of mine. If you're thinking of buying an unusual pet or already own one and need to stock up on accessories, this is the only place you should need to go in Leeds.

Easy to access , it is situated near to the Parkway shopping centre.. The shops later hours allow for working people to manage pet supplies out of working hours. There are regular stocks of rabbits and guinea pigs which are well kept in an airy compound. Many hamsters and rats are also available for selcetion. Jollyes has over 40 stores nationwide, with its Selby branch, only opened a couple of years but already well established within the community. As a superstore there is a vast range of pet foods, Life stage Nutrition, pet toys, cages, bedding and accessories. We shop in Jollyes regularly since we brought our 'Mr Buttons', a daft black Labrador. We visited the store with the children for advice on nutrition, feeding and treats (children wanted to feed it everything they ate..). The staff were so helpful even though we didn't buy anything the first time. For us we were shown the option of frozen fresh foods or for a balanced diet with little fuss the dried food variety that was also ideal for use with training. Best pet supplies shop in Selby without a doubt!

Purchasing a fish tank may seem easy, but it isn't. Massive choice, but not a lot of stock. I…read morebought from one online/retail park supplier, and when the tank arrived it was broken. The last one in the country apparently, so off down to another retailer which had nothing but small plastic. Then to Jolley's, where we have been going for years, but not for fish tanks. We were helped from the moment we got into store to the moment we left by very friendly and obliging staff, who took time and trouble to find us what we wanted, and get it into our car. I believe that the assistants name was Mel, but I could be wrong. We will be dealing with them in future, probably without exception. 2 July 2018. David
