I wanted to share my previous experiences with Empire Yard Maintenance . I would highly recommend you use other companies. I have used Empire a few times now and 2 of the 3 times there were issues. The most recent incident their lawn mower stopped working in the middle of mowing our lawn, we were told they would be out first thing the next morning. The next morning I had to call and ask when they would arrive and David Peltz tells me they would be back sometime in the afternoon or the next day. No concern at all they left a job unfinished. Who leaves a job unfinished, with no call to the customer or at least an apology for the inconvenience. A company that doesn't value their customers. The previous issue we had with Empire was the same kind of lack of pride in their work. We asked for some basic mowing and edging to be completed, the job was less than satisfactory. I had a tree fall and I hired empire maintenance to fix my wall, garden bed, and rock area. I paid them to put down fabric and install rock. Everything looked great for the first few months and the workers were very kind and hard working. My planter bed still looks great also. However (only one year later) now I have a full rock bed full of grass and weeds. I'm not sure what kind of fabric they used under the rock but it's only been one year since they installed it and it looks weedy. I cannot even keep up with all of the weeds and grass coming through it. I'm very disappointed that I paid them to install fabric. It honestly looks as if there is nothing under the rock. I did not hire Empire but I tried to. I met with them at my new property and was given a quote of $80 every other week. I was told they would get back to me in a week or so with a start date. Since I would not be around for the next 10 days that worked for me. Never heard from them again. I texted Robbie twice.... No Response. I sent an email to David at the office but he didn't respond. Finally sent an email telling them I would seek and alternative Gardener. Guess what- got a response. David said "Thank You for letting them know". So not responsive is the issue - they could be great at what they do but how are you suppose to find out? read more

David & Team at Empire are awesome. We recently had a bunch of zero scape done to our backyard, as well as having some planter boxes and bushes removed. Being our first landscaping project on this house, we were nervous about picking the right company. Combine that with availability and price, and Empire comes out towards the top. They showed up (called for permission) a day early for the project, therefor ended a day early, took less rock than quoted, and our bill was actually less than the estimate, by quite a bit! (I can't say if that will happen with your's, but it was a very nice surprise for us). David was very communicative, his guys that were at the house were very professional, worked nearly the entire day for 3 days, and weren't a bother whatsoever. While I did not have work done I had David come out and look over turning my moonscapped yard into a yard. We talked it over and he gave me a bid on the spot and was also up front on plants, watering, etc. We decided to go with another company but that first experience was great and sadly we just got a bid and vision of our yard that fits our feelings better. read more

Started out good in 2021 and crew was pleasant and did a good job. Not excellent but good and were nice about taking care of things contracted for but missed before they left. Talked with owner in Oct about needs for the spring and he didn't follow through. Service started again in March with new employees with no experience. They broke sprinkler heads that have caused my lawn to need to be dug up to fix cracked risers as a result, but Empire didn't do the repair bc they never showed up again to follow through on repairs. Maintenance crew became increasingly grumpy, unrealiable and finally just stopped showing up. Don't plan on reliable and quality service with Empire. read more

I have been happy with the work Empire provides, they have been great when we would scheduled them for one time jobs. I was so happy with the work they provided that I decided to higher them on a bi-weekly basis. This is where the service started to lack. They did a great...when they showed up, the schedule was very inconsistent. Sometimes it would be three weeks, sometimes two...most recently, we have not seen them for over a month now. I understand things come up, or get in the way (weather, etc) but on top of the inconsistent schedule, they never called, or emailed, or notified me in any way to reschedule, or inform me when they would be back out. Because of this, I have decided to cancel our service. I was happy with the work they provided, I just need something more consistent. read more

We moved in May 2022. We hired Empire to do some yard landscaping before the move. We had talked with them before Covid and we're very impressed with their ideas and knowledge. Along came Covid and our plans changed. When we did hire them last year it was a complete joke!! The workers left their trash in the yard, did not finish the job they were hired to do and the most terrible thing of all, they let our dogs out of the yard by leaving a gate open! our dear Honey Bear has never been found!!! They were standing in the yard with all the gates open and said yeah we saw some dogs here but don't know where they are! At this point they asked for the second half of payment. We refused. After two weeks the owner called and wondered if there was a problem!!!????? He wanted his money. No apology for the sloppiness, or the loss of a family member. Told him no, so he came over. Saw the way our job was left, had the SAME two guys show up and "finish". PS the gravel was not all installed as requested but there was lots of leftovers dumped in front of the courtyard. DO NOT TRUST EMPIRE!!!!!! The owners talk a good talk, but you really don't know what you will really get! *They really do not deserve even one star. Hired them to do two of my properties....I had to have them come back three times to finish my home and it was like pulling teethe to get them to come back, the excuse David used was that he tried calling and my phone went to voice mail. Well that is not true , there was no record in my iPhone of him calling and he did not leave a message. His workers were very polite but needed a lot of direction to finish the job. The quote and the first service was good. But after that I was paying 72 bi-weekly for nothing but leaf blowing. The team of 2 would spend 30 min on the property. My quote included bush trimming when needed. Not one time was the bushes trimmed. I had a straggler elm growing right at my bush and it never got touched. When I reached out to email the office and ask what all is included with my quote as their team was only blowing leaves, my response was "I will tell them to do it next time." So I thought if that is the only response then they are not the company for me. When my invoice came in it stated, mowed and edged yard etc. I requested a corrected invoice since my yard is rock and nothing was done but leaf blowing. We hired them on 10/07/22. The crew didn't show up at scheduled time (9:00 am), so I had to call them to ask them what was going on. Robbie said they were running late because they had to pick up something before coming to us (?), but he also said that they would arrive between 9 and 10. The first crew showed up past 10 am. I asked him, "Are you going to do this job all by yourself?" He said, "Another guy will arrive soon (So, he IS LATE.)." I also said, "Are you going to start with backyard or front yard?" He said, "Doesn't matter. Do you have a mower? Does it work?" I answered "Yes." to both questions. Then, he said, "Alright. Anyway another crew will bring one in just in case." And he called that another guy to tell him to rent a mower at Lowe's before coming." Why have you NOT been prepared? Then, the mowing crew would arrive even later!! He started the job on front yard. More than half an hour later, another guy showed up. Believe it or not, this tardy guy was chit chatting to the first guy next to him without doing anything for 30 - 45 minutes!! Hello! You guys are working by hour?! Finally both of them got to work around 11:00 am and left for lunch for about 1 hour. At that moment, there was no sign of the mowing crew would show up. They started backyard a bit without mowing. I said to them, "We have a mower, you can start mowing!" The first guy said, " The second crew will come soon with a mower. We are leaving soon (??)." In 10 - 15 minutes, he knocked on the door and asked me to pay for their job because they didn't know when the second crew would arrive and they didn't know how long it would take for them to take care of the backyard. That was past 3:00 pm. He asked me to pay $539. That price was for a 5-hour job when they worked for only less than 4 hours! I said, "Please send me the invoice. I will pay by credit card." Then, they left. I don't know where the tardy guy threw his cigarette butt (He was smoking when his senior was talking to me.). Anyway, according to the estimate, their quote was $90/hr and the job would take 5 - 7 hours on that day. The first crew had already used those 5 hours and they didn't finish our backyard at all. I asked when the second crew would arrive. The first guy said, "Later. Or tomorrow." That tomorrow is Saturday. They are closed on weekends! I called them right after they left to see how soon the mowing crew would come. No Answer. It was way before their office would be closed. No Call Back at all. On Monday, the 10th, I called their office and talked to the lady. The final price was adjusted, but I was told that the mowing crew couldn't come till Saturday (again they should be closed!). What kind of BS is this? I wanted to get the yard work done before the pest control appointment on Wednesday. Arriving late was a yellow flag. In addition, a tardy guy was MILKING and they were trying to have me paying for their lunch hour. And less than 50% of the promised job was done. I got the first time customer discount, but that was the first and the last service I ordered from them. read more

David Peltz is the worst landscaping contractor I have ever had the displeasure of meeting. He refuses to honor his warranty for his inferior work. Numerous sprinkler leaks, dead plants, sod that never grew, splattered pvc primer all over the side of the house. I left numerous voicemails regarding all the issues and he takes entirely too long to get back to me and has nothing remotely intelligent to say. I would give them zero stars but it wouldn't allow me to do that. Please save your money and don't make the same mistake I did. He was the lowest bid out of four contractors and the old saying holds true 100% "You get what you pay for". Thankfully I met a real landscaping contractor through a friend and they are going to take care of everything. read more

There was no call from the company offering to reschedule, no courtesy call, no apology - nothing. I had to contact the owner directly twice to get a response. David and his crew have been taking care of my property in Corrales for about a year now. The crew has been very concientious of our needs. They take great care not to blow grass or leaves into the pool and are great with my dog when he is out inspecting the job. They also branched out and hung lights in our yard for our recent wedding. Didn't keep to a schedule, kept changing it then not holding to it with no communication as been later, different day, to early,or not at all (all happened in an 8 week period). Then dropping us without notification. I had to call the office twice to find this out. The job was never a complete job, saying they weren't scheduled enough time to finish and will work on getting caught up over a few weeks. This NEVER happened. read more

I initially engaged with Empire in July. Marquis, came over and we waked around the property.. I told him that we needed all of the gardens cleaned up, remove all the weeds, from the front and back yards, to spray so that the weeds wouldn't return, trim all of the trees and bushes & to fix the irrigation system. He then gave me a price, that I thought was fair, and asked him how soon could they start. He told me "in about a week and a half, as they were quite busy. It took more like 2 to 3 weeks before anyone came. They did clean up, got rid of the weeds, and trimmed all of the bushes and trees. They did not ck., the irrigation system, or spray any weed killer. I called Marquis, cellphone 3 or 4 times, with no response.I then called the office and left 2 voice messages When I finally got a call back they said that they were really busy, but they would get someone over ASAP. After 2 weeks, with nobody showing up, I finally called the owner, Dave, and left a fairly angry message. That, if no one got back to me soon, they would hear from my attorney. That expedited the situation, as Dave called me back the next day. We arranged a day for him to come over and take a look. He did come over, looked at the irrigation system, Gave me a quote , and said that he would have someone come over to do the spraying. That was in the end of August. When we didn't see anyone after 2 weeks, I called Dave and left a voice message to not send anyone and that we were through with EMPIRE. I haven't heard from Empire since then. read more

Zero stars-David & his crew are unprofessional & unreliable. One member of crew came to property smelling of alcohol after a lunch break. All of 2016 service no shows, constant calls to David to find out what happened & when service was going to be complete; following wk still no show after told repeatedly would complete. When questioned on the cost of leaf blowing $45 on a small yard, David used profanity in response. Needless to say, he was fired & given written notice on explanation of firing. Was very surprised his Secretary called me for setting up repeat service for 2017- said No Way I Fired him. Tells me his service has suffered & needs customers noticing the special discount being offered. I hired him in 2015 & had excellent , superior service so much that I recommended him & continued in 2016. After 2016, his business has suffered & the crew he has hired has had an effect on his business. He himself needs to learn profanity & unprofessionalism will break your customer base. After waiting three weeks for them to start the work they agred to, we finally canceled the contract and went with another company. I hired these jokers to install a sprinkler system in my front and back yards at the beginning of this summer. The price was pretty good, but now I know why: after installation the sprinkler flow was terrible. I spoke to Dave, and he came out and looked at the installation. He said everything was fine, but that I didn't have enough water pressure and would have to contact the city. I had another sprinkler contractor look at it, though, and after digging up the pipe it turns out Empire used too small pipe" they installed the system with 1/2" pvc pipe, which is restricting the water flow. Phone calls have gotten nowhere, and Empire never returns my calls. I'm going to have to pay to have the pipes dug out and installed correctly. I would suggest you stay away from these guys. read more
