Ran into their booth at the Garden Show in late Feb. We were looking at redoing the back yard and trimming up a couple of trees in the front. They were booking appts for estimates so we grabbed the first open date - the end of March. Ernie arrives at the appointed time - I show pics to give him a rough idea of what I'm looking for. Nothing radical, mainly trees for shade, shrubs to fill some empty areas and trimming up what's there. Then it's into the back yard to explain further and discuss options. He listened, took notes & some measurements. I got some great ideas to consider with my project. Let him know I was past the planning phase and ready to get started. Estimate should be ready in a few days and he'd send it over. Great - I'll have a nice looking backyard, some shade and all before the heat sets in. That was the last time I heard from anyone @ ABQ Landscape. 10 days goes by, leave message asking if the estimate was done. About a month and half later still no response to that or any other messages I've left. I guess they've got all the business they need and didn't want mine. Unfortunately there seems to be an over abundance of contractors in ABQ that think they're doing people a favor by being in business and customers will take that abuse. No, if you don't respond within a reasonable time I look for the next business. With this one you might want to save time by looking for someone else. read more

Very happy with ABQ Landscaping. Imagine being woken up middle of the night because your sprinklers went off shooting all over the place (including your neighbor's windows!...oops) in the middle of the night and waking up to puddle of water you couldn't trace the source to turn off because you just moved into a new property. Yea...that was my unfortunate case when I finally decided to reach out to contractor who could help me with it. After researching contractors online, I called ABQ Landscaping about having someone come out to my property to take a look at potential irrigation/sprinkler leakages and problems with sprinkler system that went off in the middle of the night and they were able to get someone (this was very different from many contractors I reached out to where I felt like I was being put in the backburner by scheduling me a week or more out and they didn't want to give me much priority). Ernie answered my call and did what he promised me which was to give me more details about the time the technician would stop by. He was also prompt and upfront about potential costs/work that may entail. On the day of, Alfredo showed up on time. He was courteous and knowledgeable. Despite me not knowing much about the home (since I recently moved in and not knowing what the previous owner had done...other than everything was dating back to way before 2000s..), Alfredo not only was able to help me identify problem, offer solutions and, in the case of outdated system like my sprinkler control system, recommended the work that could be done as well. Not only that, on the same day, I was able to get some estimates, the breakdown of the work that needed to be done...and get started on the work that was agreed on in addition to the check up. Initially, I thought the work would just me to show me around the remote control and fix very minor thing for an hour, but I was able to get much more from their visit. Ernie was able to have Alfredo stay over to work for the whole remainder of the day to fix and upgraded (where needed) the yard sprinkler/irrigation system at my place. Very happy with the work they did (I'm sure my neighbors were thrilled too!) and will use them for this type of work (landscaping, irrigation, sprinkler) again! read more

I called ABQ Landscaping after reading reviews and deciding that it was time to stop watering desert plants and xeriscape part of my yard. I called in the morning, and they were able to come out the same day for an estimate. They were able to start the next week on a date that worked best with my schedule. They started on time and finished two days ahead of schedule. They were efficient and friendly. Some of the timing likely had to do with it isn't peak season yet, so they weren't super busy yet. Since the winter has been so warm, I wanted to get a head start on getting stuff done. I plan on using them in the future for other projects. They are pricey, but this is where I feel "you get what you pay for." I am super happy with the work done. Thanks Nico and crew! read more

Everything about this experience (totally redoing my front yard from a water guzzler to Xeriscaping) was smooth and comfortable. The estimate was very reasonable and he worked within my budget. Nico was very patient with my numerous texts and questions, and responded quickly. He and his crew were very professional and did excellent work. I highly recommend ABQ Landscaping. I had used Milligan Scapes twice in the past and a third time as a gift to my son and his wife. Each time, the experience deteriorated until the last time which turned into an outright nightmare (refer to their recent reviews). Anyway, I contacted Nico at ABQ Landscaping as I had moved into a new house and needed a lot of work done. He responded quickly and gave m a detailed computer estimate. I made several changes which he graciously accommodated with written, detailed revisions. This was not a "cookie-cutter" job--it involved putting in a cat fence, enlarging the patio, sprinklers and synthetic grass plus planting trees and shrubs. The work was exceptional but what I appreciated most was the constant communication and lack of "drama". You know how you just want to hire someone to do a job and that's it? These are the guys. They make sure that you are happy with each step-- no misunderstandings or finger pointing. Will use them again this winter!! read more

Damian McBride, representing Abq Landscaping, showed up at my house to give me a quote to landscape my backyard back in August of 2021.  The work was to start in September of 2021.  I gave him a deposit for 1/3 of the total cost. Between September and January 2022, Damian made excuse after excuse as to why he could not start the job.  I asked for my deposit back in the middle of January.  He said he would come in and drop off a check.  He gave me a post dated for February 4th, 2022.  I attempted to deposit using my mobile app but an error.   Damian texted me on the following Monday that he apologized for the bounced check and would bring a cashier's check the following Friday.  He didn't show up so I took him to court.   He did not dispute the amount owed and told Judge he would bring a cashier's check to my house by May 10th.  Don't be surprised when I tell you I did not receive the check or money. A judgement has been ordered against Damian and the judge said in full candor it is often hard to collect from an individual. If Damian shows up for your landscaping needs, turn him away.  It is unfortunate because I picked ABQ Landscaping for the reviews on yelp back in 2021. read more

I called ABQ Landscaping to get an estimate to convert my existing sprinkler system, which has a new control box with multiple zones, to drip irrigation for my shrubs and trees. I drew a map of exactly where the trees and plants were and what kind they were, along with where my existing sprinkler system is located. Nico came, sat in his truck idling in front of my house for 10 minutes before he got out to look at my yard. I showed him what I needed and he said he'd email me an estimate. When I received the estimate, it was SIX times the amount of the other estimates. Unfortunately I believe this is a prime example of companies taking advantage of homeowners, especially single female homeowners, but I could be wrong. In any event, their estimates are way too high for the services you are asking for. read more

A few years ago, I contacted Albuquerque Landscaping because one of my Rainbird sprinkler systems was leaking and needed to be replaced. They sent a guy named Willie out, and he did a great job. About a year later, I had some other sprinkler issues, so I called back to ask if Willie was available to come back to my house. The guy who answered the phone immediately became hostile and said, "How do you know Willie? Why are you asking about him?" I was surprised at his reaction. I said, "He replaced one of my sprinkler-system stations last year." He practically growled at me, saying, "Willie doesn't work here anymore." Well, OK, then...I won't be calling this company ever again. Personnel issues should stay within the company and not seep out into customer interactions. read more

Tried to hire this landscaper to take out what was left of the grass in our front yard and relpace it with sod. Called and spoke to to "Ernie" who asked me to take some photos of the yard with my cell and send them to him so he can give me an estimate. When he texted back the estimate was very high, so I texed and called and left several messages stating that we had a few questions. He never called back after leaving a few voice messgaes over a couple of days. I guess that he did not want the business. Might be why his estimate was so high. We ended up going with another landscaper who did a great job at half the cost. Dispite the positive reviews, I would not reccommend this company. read more

I used their services twice with great results. Last year there was a change in staff. Trimming looked jacked. They came back and did what they could to make it look a little better. This Spring it looks like their removal of some small shrubs ended up killing two mature and beautiful trees because of tmroit poisoning. There is no coming back from that. read more

Ernie and his guys are wonderful! They are so,professional. They laid flagstone in my backyard and two walkways in the front yard. The patio in the back makes the area look so much bigger! The guys came on time everyday and cleaned up when they left at the end of the day. They were very nice and polite too. I can't say enough about the wonderful work that Nico and his company, ABQ Landscaping did. I had contacted about five different landscaping companies to get ideas and estimates on my project. I had a good feeling about Nico when he came to give me an estimate on my back yard landscaping project and I wasn't wrong. An estimate showed up in my email the next day. I wish I could say that about the other companies I contacted. Nico kept in touch leading up to the day the work began. They showed up on the day we scheduled and got to work. He was on site a good deal of the time. He brought a great, hard working crew that showed up on time each day. I can't say enough about the great job they did. We hit a little snag when the company that supplied the artificial turf cut the piece short, but Nico took care of it right away and fixed the problem. On the last day, when they were all done, the guys got busy cleaning up the property immaculately. I love my back yard!!! I am very pleased with the results and I would highly recommend them.
