I waited 2 months and am so glad I was patient. La Barge is worth the wait. There is a reason LaBarge can't always get to the job quickly: a good company is in high demand. They've now completed several jobs for me: landscaping, brick planter demolition and sprinkler repair. Excellent, conscientious work. The demolition job was tough, yet they got it done in a day despite the ungodly summer heat. Every job has been completed with professional courtesy, great clean-up, and the crew asking as they worked if there was anything else I needed. The office staff is friendly and helpful, too. What a pleasure doing business with them! And IMPORTANTLY--they are FULLY insured and happy to provide proof. (Many other businesses claim they are "licensed, insured and bonded" which really means nothing.) If a company does not carry full liability insurance, your homeowners insurance will NOT cover you if one of their workers gets hurt. I'm so happy to have found and hired this company. read more

Nice people, were direct and honest with me, and did what they promised at the price they promised. Granted, mine was not overly complicated. My "new" home had a system that wasn't working at all. First they came out to show me how to work the system. Then they showed me where repairs and additions were needed and fixed it. Reasonably priced. Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with this company. I called to schedule an estimate for grounds maintenance and sprinkler repair at my home. I was able to schedule an appointment for five days later which was great. I decided to accept the quote and called to schedule the work to be done. This is where things sort of went bad. First, they told me the workers would be at my home a few days later on a Wednesday. I called that morning and was told they couldn't come that day. They wanted to reschedule for Friday. When I called Friday morning, they wanted to move it to the next week. By that time I was frustrated and told them I would contact someone else. read more

La Barge took our dirt and cactus yard, and made it a lush, green paradise at an incredible price. I shopped around A LOT before hiring La Barge and they had the best price by far. Even came back out for a free check up on my sod and sprinklers when I asked. I will continue to call them out for all of our future projects. read more

We hired La Barge to do a complete landscape job on our backyard. In the beginning, they were very professional and attentive. During the evaluation/quote process there was a miscommunication about whether we had a sprinkler timer on the property. We said we didn't have one and they failed to quote us for one. When this came up during the install process, their attitude changed and they wanted to charge us an additional $500-800 more depending on what type of timer we wanted. Since we had already spent over $18,000 we elected to forego this addition. However, since we had already paid them to install our drip system, it is basically now worthless without the timer to control it. There were also other issues during the install, they damaged one of our bushes in the yard and when we informed, Jack, the owner, his response was that we were lucky that's all that happened since it was such a big job. Not the response we were expecting from the owner. Once the job was completed, we were not happy with a few of the items. The privacy fence boards began to warp within weeks of the completion. They did end up coming back to remove the original boards and replace them. Once the new ones were installed, they were stained poorly and the tops of the support posts were jagged and awkward. We did eventually gets these items fixed, months later, after many emails back and forth with Jack's wife, Ruth. The biggest disappointment is our Pergola. This was our biggest and most important part of the project. We absolutely love the design and the look, except we had numerous problems with it. The first issue were the sticks across the top for shade. Upon completion it looked terrible. The boards they used were cull lumber and had a lot of damage to them. We did have La Barge replace those. They claim it was not cull lumber, but it looked like trash. The lumber they used on the posts and decorative corbels was green lumber and has now split and looks terrible. We have gone back and forth with La Barge on this topic and they have said they reached out to Groff Lumber (who they purchased the lumber from) and that is something that happens with green lumber. I'm concerned that they are using green lumber to build structures like this when they know that they end up looking like poor workmanship. We also have a big issue with tons of sap constantly dripping from the wood posts. We have to keep cleaning it up, so it doesn't stain our new pavers. Overall, our yard does look nice, but it's been a lot of back and forth and we are not happy with the way they have handled a lot of our concerns. All of the concerns that we've brought up have been due to poor workmanship or poor quality products they used. Please note that we contracted with La Barge in February and they just finished with some of the requested corrections as recently as June 3rd. They have refused to fix any of the split pergola posts or decorative corbels. read more

Very poor workmanship. We spent a ton of money and what we ended up with is no better than what we had before.

I built a manifold for my mom's sprinkler controllers that leaked badly. I called LaBarge to rescue my work and fix the leak. Their man did elegant work, a really stellar job, but the bonus is that he was quick and the bill was only about $250, a third of other quotes I received from around town. I would give a five star, except that sometimes you have to leave a phone message and wait for a return call the next day. However, when you get through on the phone, they are totally professional and we conducted all the paperwork over email. Highly recommended! read more

I'm new to New Mexico and need to landscape my front yard to comply with HOA standards. La Barge Landscape gave a very competitive bid and didn't flinch when I added things on at the last minute. They gave me a price, a plan and a schedule and then stuck to it. During the fence work a couple of bricks dislodged and La Barge Landscape came out and promptly fixed it. They set the sprinklers and drip system that was already in place and took care of everything, including pictures for HOA approval. All I had to do was sit back and enjoy my new yard. Highly recommend them for landscape, flagstone and fence work. Once my pool is completed I will be calling them to put in a flagstone patio and other landscaping. read more

Before you hire LaBarge, it would be a good idea to develop an accurate, technical scope of work that is binding (contractually). Inspect all materials before they start any construction. What they say they will do and what they actually do can be two different things. Do not agree to anything that is verbally described. Most importantly, to avoid disappointment, do not accept any general or vague (glossed-over) specifications. read more

Jack is a salesman. He did a $31,0000 job for me. It was an engineered retaining wall with a garden wall and a new concrete slab. Once the job is sold and "his" crew starts I never saw him again. The crew leader was a super nice guy who spoke broken English. When there was a problem, and there were many, a call to Jack was answered by "talk to my foreman". I helped lay out the footings and walls because the guys were having problems. I had to personally stop the job because they frequently wanted to do things before the proper inspections were completed. I also had to call the city inspector many times to have him stop by and explain things to the crew. At one point he said I should fire them because he was sure they didn't have the licensing necessary for this type of work. He called Jack, while at my house, and found Jack did have a license. He was surprised because of the lack of understanding how this type of work is done. I found that Jack doesn't appear to be able to read a blueprint, because of his inability to find and read dimensions correctly. He brings in a sub who estimates the job and Jack throws his markup on and washes his hands of the job until it's time to get paid. Jack's "crew and foreman" are really sub-contractors. At the end of the job his "foreman" admitted to me he can't read or speak English. No wonder there was so much confusion. They couldn't read the details on the print!! By the time the job was done I knew more about retaining walls then I ever wanted to, because I HAD to learn, so I could "run" the job for Jack. Now my slab is cracking badly because "his crew" failed to put in enough properly located control joints. If you have much more than lawn mowing and some simple landscaping tasks I'd go elsewhere. read more

Had my backyard landscaped with sod, cement pavers poured and sprinklers installed. La Barge did a great job. Since it was April, my sod was dormant and brown, which was initially concerning, but has now fully taken and looks amazing! They guarantee to replace all sod pieces that don't take. I will be contacting them about a small piece that didn't take and will update. read more
