We bought a new house and needed help getting the backyard in shape for our kids. These guys were absolutely fantastic. I had only some vague ideas of what we wanted but they were able to take them and create an absolutely fantastic plan that worked with the budget we had. They even set us up so we can build on the yard in the future in stages as our budget allows. They were able to get us scheduled quickly and were so efficient about doing the work. It was a huge job but the guys were incredibly professional and kept us looped in to how things were going along the way. The final product was beyond fantastic. The patio not only looks great but is graded appropriately to keep water away from the house and also allows us to eat and cook outside. The artificial turf not only looks amazing but is easy maintenance and great quality. The kids and dog love rolling around on it. They graded the whole yard to help maximize the usable space in our budget and the retaining wall they installed gives me so much peace of mind. The work was expensive but well worth it. When we gave them a firm budget the estimater changed nothing on the drawing to try and accommodate. I've found our go-to landscaping company. It's always cool to find a review of a company written by someone you know; in this case, it was my sis in-law, Jen B. If you read her 73 paragraph rave, you'll be convinced, too. So I called Alonzo. Before homeboy even discussed an estimate, he walked every inch of the property and sketched the entire dang thing: bushes, trees, structures, the guy was thorough. And once he got started, he switched gears from contractor to boss man, orchestrating his crew from task to task, keeping a keen eye on the work, cleaning up as they went. In the end we had a yard that looked absolutely sculpted to last, and we set up a three month plan to keep things looking sharp and affordable. Realized I spelled Alonzo's name wrong throughout the review, so edited to fix my mistakes! ‍ Our Taylor Ranch home has a (what we refer to) as a pond in the backyard. We love it and it's one of our favorite things about our house. After 5 years here, and more trips up and down the sides to get our cat off her perch at the top than I can count, it was starting to look a little shabby, with the rocks around it becoming loose and wobbly. Last year we reached out to another landscaping company we work with on a regular basis and asked them for a quote to refresh and stabilize the rocks. Their sales guy came out, met with my boyfriend and took a look. We never heard back from them, and when my boyfriend followed up he was basically told that they were too busy to do it for us. Queue months of indecision on our part and debating about whether we really needed to do it, worries over how much it was going to cost, leading from fall into winter and then from winter into early spring. We still hadn't done anything, and since clearly the pond was (unfortunately) not going to fix itself, we finally resolved to start looking for a different company to do the work. Being the Facebook junkie that I am, I was doing a some late night scrolling through my phone one day and found a post (advertisement) from 2Green Landscapes for a job that they recently completed. I liked what I saw so I sent them a message with a picture from last fall and asked if they could give us a quote. I heard back from them the next morning and we set an appointment for Alonzo to come take a look on March 25th. March 25th arrived and Alonzo was right on time. He looked at the pond with both me and my boyfriend, listened to what we were looking for, and then gave us a quote on the spot! Given the price was more than reasonable we accepted his quote and he said their office would be in touch to schedule. By March 28th we had set an appointment for them to do the work the following Wednesday (April 5). They wound up being a bit later than expected on the 5th, but that worked out for the best as it was a VERY cold morning. All in all it took them about 3 - 4 hours and it came out AMAZING! We finally got it up and running for the season this last weekend and I think it might look better now than it did when we moved in! The whole crew was professional and Alonzo himself was even here to help with the job. We have a tiered backyard, one level was 4 feet and the next was 8 feet high, with railroad tie retaining walls which were leaning from years of shifting dirt behind them. Between the dog digging under and the one or two big rains we had part of the highest wall collapsed. We called Alonzo for a plan and estimate. We wanted a block wall with a cleaner look, tiers the same height across the length, stairs to the top, and a way to divert the water run-off for any large storms. This involved taking down over 100 railroad ties, movinv tons of sandy dirt, adding irrigation and top soil, to the second level for planting, laying 80 lb blocks and caps, steps, grading the top level to direct any run off away from the wall and toward the rock lined retention pond and slope at the side, back filling dirt behind the walls and compacting as much as possible. In addition he restored the rock landscaping in the front that was disrupted with the equipment and rock uaed for the back. His team was on the job every morning before 7, and worked until 4:30, taking minimal breaks other than a normal lunch , they cleaned up their trash and whatever trash was associated with the project, and made sure our gate was secured at end of day so our dog didn't get out of the yard. They were respectful and polite and worked hard. It was an expensive project with a lot of work, completed in about 2 weeks, and is beautiful. The transformation from railroad ties to block enhances our home look so much . Can't wait to plan for the plants. Thank you Alonzo and 2 Green Landscaping. Landscape and Irrigation system. On the day of the meet/estimate Alonzo listens to your ideas and will ask what you are trying to accomplish? This was a sign that he is very professional and a great communicator. He is a UNM graduate in Architectural Design. He then draws out your lot and adds in all your ideas into the design. He'll measure out the lot to get an accurate picture of what the plan will look like. If you're open to suggestions, he'll give you recommendations based on the vibe he gets from the lot and existing structures. Since the lot has a slight slope he added In a water retention pond. Thus preventing soil erosion and possible flooding. He also picked out two beautiful trees that will eventually grow much larger and add value to the look of the property. He also found a solution to a problem with soil erosion under one of the apartment entrance landings. The fix looks great, should be a long term solution. His employees are all very hard working and very efficient. They seem to all have their specialty skills. They work well as a team or individually. Part of the job required each rock to be hand placed which they accomplished with pride in their craft. In closing Alonzo/2Green Landscapes completed my project in the timeframe he stated from the beginning. He kept me informed daily on the progress of the project. My project was completed the first week of November. My apologies for not submitting my review sooner. Bottom line ...you hire the best and you'll get the best value for the price. I can't rave enough about how amazing Alonzo and his crew are. After a bad experience with a previous landscaper it took me 7 years to be willing to trust another company. Alonzo on the first day listened to our ideas for our backyard and provided a sketch and an estimate for the work to be done. The time frame provided to complete the work was reasonable. Miguel, Victor and Andres showed up on time and cleaned up everyday. All the interactions with them were so pleasant. They even treated my 3 year old son so sweet. His team worked hard and fast turning my backyard into a dream instead of the eye sore it had been in the past. Alonzo is very professional and you can feel that he puts his heart into the project.
