I brought my cat, Boba, in for bloodwork and was told I'd get the results soon. A whole month went by with no update. I had to call multiple times just to be told, basically, that they forgot. When I finally came in person, they gave me the results on the spot and asked for a urine sample--something they could've asked for weeks ago. I paid $275 for this, and they only offered $50 back, which doesn't feel right considering how poorly this was handled. I came back the next day with the urine sample and asked again about a better refund or any acknowledgment of the delay. The receptionist said she'd talk to the doctor and call me back. Almost two weeks later--still no call. I had to go in person again just to get an update. And once again, the receptionist, not the vet, gave me the test results. Why am I never hearing from the actual doctor? It feels like the receptionist is running the place, which is concerning for a medical facility. I love my cat and would pay anything to make sure she's healthy, but this experience felt like her well-being was completely disregarded. I had to chase them down just to get basic communication. You can do better. You should do better. read more

Waiting time with appointment over 45 minutes. Went for a follow up to find out lab work results, of course they have to redo the lab test. So, I paid $200 for absolutely nothing. Also, Does not support U.S. Veterans... Petco has them beat on professionalism , courtesy and prices by far...Do not go here ...if you find yourself sitting there, tell them your back charging them for your time.... read more

i have a friend who took their cat there recently because it had been their vet for a long time and their cat wasn't eating or drinking. not only did they misdiagnose his cat by (what i would assume to be) lying about taking tests, but they found out from a different vet that the cat had a cancerous tumor (and how do you mistake a cancerous tumor for muscle problems? you know what im not a vet but that's a huge jump from something mild to life threatening) and they ended up having to put their cat down, but not without an almost $800 vet bill to do so. thank you empire read more

I highly recommend this veterinary clinic. Doctor is honestly the best I've been to. She is very knowledgeable and I know my pets are in the best hands possible. Sometimes you have to wait but be patient because they spend time to give your pet the care they need. All staff treat pets wonderful. I don't have anything negative to say. Great place altogether! It is great veterinary care! Although small office, Dr Sue is very knowledgeable. I had taken my cat to 6 different veterinary clinics in Turlock and none diagnosed my cat correctly and wanted to charge me $2000.00 to remove her eye. I had tried 3 different times with meditation to treat my cat runny nose. And since I am on a fixed low income I couldn't find any vet to work with me on payments. But Dr Sue and staff are great! I'm giving medication to cat and finally she is improving! I can't say enough great things about them! read more

This is by far the best veterinary clinic I have ever been to. Dr.Sue, Amy, Tessa, and the rest of the staff have always been kind and caring to my fur babies. One time I had to bring all four of my cats in at once (as much of a hassle as it sounds) and not only helped me handle them back into my car, allowed me to pay the next time I came to visit. Having brought two of my cats since they were kittens, it's always a joy to have the workers notice and comment about "how big they're getting!" Pricing is the most reasonable I've seen from any other vet clinic, along with the best care I've received. These people form a wonderful relationship with not only the customer, but the animal as well. Definitely will be my go to for as long as it's around. read more

I have to add to my post because I'm so pleased with this office. The doctor and staff are down to earth and helpful always! I brought my cat here all the way from San Francisco and I am so happy I did. Pet care is not about the money to me and I would spend any amount to make sure my fur baby was taken care of but I was quoted 6x as much at a vet in SF for the same care and so I can honestly say with my whole heart that this clinic prioritizes wellness over profit. The Empire vet team took such great care of my cat and she is in great shape. The staff was so incredibly friendly, communicative, and on time. I've been taking my baby German shepherd here for 2 months since I first got him, staff is nice, but every appointment I've had they either couldn't "find it" or don't grab my puppy for 30-45 minutes after scheduled appointment, it's pretty ridiculous and VERY inconvenient for someone who works, also for my dog who is HUGE and has to just sit in a car for 45 minutes. They also do not allow me to go in with my dog which I find strange because how do I know he's getting his shots? What if I have questions and concerns, nope they just come take my dog and give him back within 10 minutes. Like I said ridiculous. read more

PLEASE READ As a certified veterinary assistant I am so disappointed in this clinic. Large dog owners beware. If your dog barks they most likely will classify your dog as aggressive. I am so disappointed in the quality of care my dog got. My dog was obviously anxious (panting a lot) when two vet assistants approached him he barked at them, I'd admit it was loud and could seem frightening but they were not friendly at all, didn't say hi or nothing, literally just walked right up. After the bark they were quick to tell us that they were worried for their safety and wanted us to wait for the doctor to sedate him and walked away (he was getting neutered). Not even a min later the receptionist came up with a friendly voice acknowledging my dog and my dog approached her very friendly and she even told him to sit and gave him a treat. (Perfect example) She even took him to the back and he did perfectly fine. No growling, not barking, just a whimper when he would look back. They all came out and stayed with the conclusion that they didn't want to risk it. Mind you my dog has not barked again. So we leave, when we come back they take us to a room to sedate him. Still no acknowledgement of my dog, no greeting nothing. The Vet comes in, in such a cold demeanor. She didn't even introduce herself to us, didn't even say hi to us nor my dog. The assistant told us to muzzle and restrain my own dog. When literally they're was a sign on the wall stating "for your safety, our staff will restrain your dog". When we came back to pick him up they told us to go in the room to pick him up. He was alone unsupervised and without a cone. They handed us the cone with no instructions. luckily I'm a certified veterinary assistant so I felt comfortable restraining him and putting on the cone but to expect that of your clients is plain out ridiculous! And No they did not know I was a veterinarian assistant. I did not feel comfortable with the staff at all. They only person I felt that actually cared for my dog was the receptionist. I will definitely not be coming back until I see a review that shows otherwise. read more

Found two lost dogs on my porch and didn't know what to do. Staff at Empire Vet scanned the dogs, contacted their owners, and held the dogs for us. I had to get to work, and just couldn't wait until owners called back. The staff was extremely friendly and compassionate. All the guest in the waiting room were pleased with their services as well. While I don't go to Empire normally for my vet, their office staff/ vet techs get a 10/10 for being so kind and helpful! read more

I hate most vets because most don't have the IQ points to be any other high paying profession like an MD or Attorney. Thus it is cheerful to find one who not only loves to care for animals, but has razor sharp medical knowledge & skill. Not only one, but husband & wife Vets. The vet techs have been Angels, and Dr. Sundberg (Dr. Sue) is marvelous with my dogs. Trained me to do injections so I can care for my collie's dysplasia at home to save money. In fact she saved my collie's life by operating to remove a fist sized mass formed when a foxtail embedded itself through her abdomen wall. That is major surgery to cut into the groin/abdomen then I had to flush the wound at home daily for a week. She pulled through and healed up just fine. Thanks to Dr. Sue. She knows her stuff! I absolutely love this vet! They treat your animal like their own, and when you come in they notice any changes in your pet right away. Every time I go in, they mention how big my pup is getting. (She's one now) I now have a 3 month old that I'll be bringing in. Wouldn't go anywhere else. I've gone to this vet with my family since we moved to Modesto in 02. When we had to put our pug of 17 years down in 2014, they wouldn't charge us for it because they said he was a part of their family too. You can just feel the warmth they have for your pets! read more

Great place to take your fur babies!! Great Dr's and a wonderful and friendly staff!! Very knowledgeable about possible problems, and they always give you a breakdown of charges and try to do the cheapest and most efficient methods first!! I really appreciate all they have done for my fur babies! Compassion and caring is just as important to them as making sure your fur babies are well taken care of!! Even though most of my fur babies have had shots and surgeries there, my fur babies are excited when I take them there due to the friendly way they are treated!!! Rip off. They won't give out prescriptions so you can order online where it's cheaper. not even for flea control, they want you to keep having to come back in and pay the fee to see the vet just to get scripts refilled. Also they didn't remind me my dogs rabies vaccination was up!! We've brought our Dog to the vet at least 2x since adopting her from the rescue organization and never once have they said anything about vaccine boosters (I thought they were good for 3 yrs but apparently shelter vaccines only good for one) my dog was due for another vaccination FOUR MONTHS AGO. WTF?????? And we only found that out because we went to go get her groomed. Get your sh** together. Meanwhile, We're finding a new vet. read more

I took my dog here hoping to get a resolution to her skin condition other vets haven't been able to do so, I'm happy with the attention and diagnoses that I received for my fur baby. They did more than other vets have and gave me a treatment plan for her. I have a follow up visit in 10days we will see if she's improved. One thing that scared me when looking at other reviews was how expensive it would be, to be honest it was less than I excepted I paid more at other vets for less service. IM SO HAPPY! Ok I've gone in with my dog for her follow up appointment this morning she's extremely improved, she's a much happier pup. Her skin is improving she's getting fur where she was balding Once again the visit was nice and easy for me at least, right away my dog peed on the floorbut beside that the vet is getting to the root of her allergies. I like the process of elimination we are going through it's more cost efficient and any plan that is suggested to do I always get a printed out quote of the cost.
