UPDATED REVIEW: Romel, Fabian and Cristian arrived at 7:30 AM on the morning of the install. They remained on the job, only taking a brief break for lunch, until 5:00 PM when then left for the day, having to return the following Monday to completed a small portion of one of the bedrooms because they ran out of wood laminate planking (through NO fault of their own).. In the 9 1/2 hours that they were at the house, they completed a hallway, a kitchen a dining room and tow bedrooms. Their work and craftmanship was exceptional . They were most clean throughout the day while working and cleaned the entire work area of any debris once completed. Romel , Fabian and Cristian did a most wonderful job and should be highly commended. ORIGINAL REVIEW: We were looking to have wood laminate flooring installed in a new house being purchased. In order to accommodate the schedules of at least 4 individuals who had to be present, scheduling a meeting with an Empire.....after meeting with a competitor's salesman who gave the impression of being nothing short of a "con man", we were very luck and most fortunate that the Empire Flooring consultant that met with us was Nick Giberti....he arrived on time , was most courteous throughout the sales process and did not resort to a single pressure tactic nor did he engage in any stereotypical sales tactics that are synonymous with many con man sales people....after measuring and explaining the entire process in a truthful and credible fashion he proceeded to measure each room and provide a most competitive price once he assisted us in choosing the flooring product we agreed to have installed.....Nick was a genuine gentlemen who should be highly commended and who is the best representative Empire could ever hope for..... this review will be supplemented once the work is completed and the floor installed... The two installers were great. Everyone else was an embarrassment. Let me start with the only positive: the two young guys who actually installed the carpet worked hard, efficiently, and did a fantastic job. They showed up, got it done, and were genuinely excellent. This review is not about them. Everyone else at Empire Today? An absolute disaster from start to finish. Strike 1 -- The sales rep. He called and asked if he could come early for the in-home consultation. I said no -- I was on a work Zoom call. He showed up 15 minutes early anyway. You called. I said no. You came anyway. That's the level of respect Empire Today has for your time right out of the gate. Strike 2 -- Installation day (Saturday). Per their own policy, they're supposed to call the morning of with a time window. No call. I called their call center around 9:30 AM, who called the installer -- voicemail. Called the dispatcher -- voicemail. "Someone will get back to you in an hour." Two to three hours later, still nothing. Finally a manager calls with the explanation: "unforeseen circumstances." No. That's not what happened. I was a contractor. I understand actual unforeseen circumstances -- a guy gets hurt, a truck breaks down, a job hits a hidden problem. I get it. Things happen. But that's not what this was. You overbooked your crew on a job that was too big for the time window, and my Saturday paid the price for your scheduling failure. Own it. I asked them to send another crew -- "we don't have one available." I asked for a discount -- "we can't do that." Meanwhile, if I had been unavailable, I'd have been hit with a 25% cancellation fee. But Empire Today can blow up your whole day with zero accountability. They offered to reschedule to Easter Sunday. I said absolutely not -- I'm spending Easter with my family, and frankly, your installers should be spending it with theirs too. The fact that Empire Today would even suggest that tells you everything about how they value people -- customers and employees. Strike 3 -- The reschedule (Tuesday). I took a full day off work. Again, no 8 AM call with a time window -- their own policy, ignored again. Same dispatcher runaround. Same non-answers. The installers finally showed up at 5:45 PM. The grand finale. After all of it -- two days blown, hours on the phone, a Saturday and a full vacation day gone -- the manager agreed to credit my card $50 as compensation. That $50 has never shown up (ts been almost a month). To summarize: I paid in full, blew two days, spent hours chasing people who wouldn't pick up their phones, got stood up on a Saturday, was offered Easter Sunday as a make-good, fought to get someone through my door before dark on a Tuesday, and was promised a $50 credit that never materialized. The carpet looks great. The two installers deserve a raise and an apology for being sent in at 5:45 PM. Empire Today as an organization deserves worse than one star -- but Google won't let me go lower. read more

This was an extremely frustrating experience from start to finish. I purchased flooring with install scheduled for 4/25--after fully preparing my home (removing flooring and appliances), the installers never showed up. From there, communication was terrible. I called daily requesting a manager and never received callbacks--even after opening a service ticket and being given direct contacts. When I was finally rescheduled for 4/28, I was promised I'd be the first stop. That was not honored. I was given conflicting updates all morning (told 10 AM, then 1:30 PM), and the installer didn't arrive until after 2 PM. After waiting all day, I was then told I needed to pay extra for subfloor work or they wouldn't complete the job. They eventually agreed to waive part of it, but refused any real discount despite everything that happened. We were left without a kitchen for 4 days as a family of five, and no one took responsibility. The only positive is that the installers did a great job and the floor looks great. Unfortunately, the overall experience will be the reason I do not return. Had there been proper communication, accountability, and a fair discount, I would feel very differently. I need one piece of the quarter round Empire used on my floors. They refused to sell it to me demanding that I schedule an installation and pay $100 for their trip, plus materials and installation fees. Ridiculous. I offered to go to them to get it, but they refused even that. I could replace the quarter round throughout my entire house for what they want to charge me for that one piece. The carpet and installation process was very good - the sales representative (Craig Vogl) was not - when I put in the order we went over the pricing - there were 3 different packages - pricing was very important to me as I was having some medical issues and might be out of work - so I picked the "Good" package as opposed to Better and Best - when I signed off on the purchase I did not look at the quote - I trusted him that it was what we discussed - when I received the bank statement I saw that it was not the price he quoted me - it was the better package - when I called him - he said i "upgraded" to the next package - I did not - i discussed with him numerous times that the price was a very important factor to me. He either didn't know what he was doing when he brought up the documents for me to sign or he just took advantage of me and upgraded to next package. Never again. Poor installation, no communication, installers no speak English. Empires job was to install carpeting and meet it up with existing Vinyl plank flooring. Installer CUT the carpeting short from meeting the flooring by an inch. Installer had no idea how to transition his carpeting to the Vinyl Flooring, I thought Empire people "were" Flooring people. Now Empire is blaming me for suggesting how to possibly "fix" it. It's not a fix it's a bandaid to get the job done as I told them I was listing the house for sale in 2 days. The correct fix was to install new carpeting and make the transition correct, Empire would not do that. I asked for financial compensation as I then paid the Vinyl Flooring people to "fix" Empires issue. EMPIRE has declined to help pay for my added cost. On July 3, 2024, Empire salesman Tony Jeter came to my home to sell me carpet. I already know the exact style and color that I wanted and he just had to take measurements. Prior to leaving, he advised that they were going to install it on Monday, July 8th. I rearranged my schedule and then den that the carpet was being installed in for the upcoming installation. Around 4:30 PM on July 8th, I was concerned that nobody was showing up. I texted salesman Tony Jeter, getting no response. I then called Empire directly to be advised that he he installation was scheduled for August 5th. I was quite upset being that I rearranged everything for the date that the salesman had promised me, but I wanted the carpet and agreed to wait until August. August 5th came where I again rearranged my schedule and cleared out my den. The installers arrived on time. However, they brought with them the the incorrect color carpet and measurements. At this point I was quite upset. I received a text afterwards from Mr. Jeter apologizing and asking what color carpet I had ordered. You would think he would have this information from when he took the order? I provided him with that information and he told me the installers would be there on Thursday, August 8th. Great. I was giving them one more chance because I really just wanted the carpet. Wednesday, August 7th, I received a text and email from Empire now advising my carpet installation was once again delayed until August 22nd. I proceeded to text salesman Tony Jeter without response once again. From there, I had enough of the lies and false promises and decided to take my business elsewhere cancelling my account with Empire. I truly do not understand how this company stays in business as they lack customer service, honesty, and integrity. read more

Terrible experience. Bought the carpet insurance never used it. Not even the refund for cleaning once a year which I'm sure is all a hassle to get back. I asked for one repair on one carpet from the three I got installed. One repair over three years and they are denying and saying I have to pay. That since I don't know the day and how an accident happened to the carpet it isn't covered. An accident stain that a carpet cleaner can't fix and they refuse to even fix it. An accident that my insurance is supposed to cover. But they are more into taking your money and that's all. I had a carpet installed last week. The salesmen was on time and seemed knowledgeable. I asked him if the door might not clear the carpet,would the installer plane the door. He told me that it would be done in that case. The installer was also on time and did a beautiful job laying the carpet. He never mentioned that the door wouldnt close. When he left,I realized that the door in fact did not close. I called Empire and was told that the salesman was wrong and they woukd not fix this big problem. Trashed my home after carpet was installed. Customer service for a month said we be in touch. Never happens. They do nothing. The contractor cut the carpet outside on a dirty driveway and walked into the home and rubbed all the walls with carpet after had all the painting done before they came. Now will cost me to have the carpet pulled and re cleaned and installed. The worst company ever. Empire reached back with response stating when you signed the contract we are not liable from any damage to your home. Be very careful when you purchase carpet and install. They can destroy your home and you will have to pay more in the end it cost me $2000 more on top of what I paid. Thats how they reach out to resolve. With a response as nothing we can do BE CAREFUL!! I gave them one extra star because they did a nice job on the carpeting they put in my townhouse. Unfortunately, they could not complete the vinyl flooring. Read the reviews here before going with Empire, because it's clear to not use this company for certain aspects. My story is very similar to the many others. When the first installer came out, he said he couldn't do the job on the vinyl plank flooring because they didn't have some nosing or molding to cover some areas of my floor because my townhouse is structured a little different and he wasn't expecting that. They blamed the sales guy on this and said this should have been pointed out to them before coming with the job. They finished the carpet and left about 10pm on a Friday night. I wasn't happy with that. It took them two weeks to send out a second installer to assess the job and determine if it can or cannot be done. He left me with some answers that made me feel like he could do the job, but he was unsure of how the job would be done and they may need to change the material to do it, but he would need to talk to the installation manager and sales first before doing it. 4 Days later, they sent a 3rd DIFFERENT installer out here to do the job without the proper material of the nosing and molding and again, he had to leave. He said if he had the material, he could do it, but it wasn't something he could do without it. He even said he needed 300 feet of plank vinyl flooring, and they only gave him 250 feet. The installer came on a date I was not expecting them to be here, and Empire never communicated they were coming out to me. I found out only when I called Empire to get a status on my install. The entire process from the start of sales to the time I officially cancelled with them was about a month long. That entire time, I have had quite a mess in one area because I had to move some of the smaller items out of where they would do the work so they could complete the job. Having a physical limitation, I had a hard time moving this stuff and could not move it back sooner than I'd like because they could not commit to getting a job done by a certain time frame. Unfortunately, I had to cancel a family event I had scheduled in my home. I gave them one last chance. The sales guy was nice, and I feel bad he probably lost his commission on this sale. They again blamed him saying he should have discussed vinyl glue down flooring with me instead of plank flooring and he was supposed to call me to discuss that with me. They wanted to change this up on me because of the job they could not do. The sales guy actually asked them if they could do a combo of some sort to cover what they need for the edge (plank + glue down) and he never got a response back. The change they wanted to do, along with the extra material, they wanted me to pay for when they are the ones that messed it up from the start. That wasn't happening and I ended up cancelling on them. If Empire was willing to do these changes for free, guarantee me they can do the job right and commit to a date (which they could not do) then I may have stuck with it. I'd still be willing to hear them out but at this point I have zero confidence in them. The cancellation process was too easy, and they didn't give me a hard time about cancelling. Sadly, like most people have pointed out, customer service was too easy to lose clients and sales for the job Empire's installers could not do. I've already started the search for other local installers (Lowes, Flemington Department Store, etc.) to see what they can do. Based on what I am reading on reviews, it may end up being cheaper in the long run for me with these guys anyway. I'm willing to wait longer if I know they can do the job at a cheaper price. I'll only use this company again if I need carpeting, since you can't really mess that one up too much. read more

This review regarding the improper installation of vinyl flooring by Empire Today in October 2023 at my home. I have encountered significant issues with the installation, including yellow residue from moisture, which I have been informed is the result of improper installation techniques. Multiple independent contractors have confirmed that the issue stems from errors in the installation process. Despite informing Empire Today of these issues, the company has refused to provide any assistance or resolution. I have paid Empire $8,000 and now I need to hire another contractor to install new vinyl floors. I have attempted to resolve the matter directly with the company, but they have shown no willingness to address the problem. Instead, they state that its not their fault because they did everything they can on their part. They also claim that they installed a poly underlayment which they didn't. In getting multiple expert opinions from other installers and contractors, they have clearly failed to address the issue prior to installing the floors which is why this issue exists. Empire actually had the nerve to ask me to pay them thousands more to fix this issue. Their customers service has been stalling and delaying any effort to resolve this issue. Updated: the reply from Empire is no different then the run-around I've been getting. Their customer service email is part of the problem. You get a copy and paste cliche response and no real substance. If you want to epitomize professionalism give me a contact name and email with someone with authority who is able to handle my situation accordingly. read more

I wish I had read these reviews before contracting with them. Never have I done business with a company that makes you pay upfront before the work is even started! They use subcontractors so you have to call in the payment to their customer service department. When I called the sales agent he says he told me that, which is not true he said the balance would be due the day of install. He then states they take the payment information to verify the funds are available and once the job is complete they withdraw them. That was a lie too!!!! I should have gone with another company! I can't speak on their work because I won't use them. I can speak on the customer service however. I have a huge project , need all new flooring done in my downstairs. We were willing to pay cash but as any normal couple making an investment we were getting multiple quotes. Empire was my second quote. Everything he said seemed reasonable and fair. The product looked good. He told me one day which seems impossible in my opinion but whatever. Anyway after the quote he sat down and said so you ready to do this ? I was home alone my husband was working so I said oh well I want to just speak to my husband , where he all of a sudden seemed annoyed and asked if I could just call him?! This did not sit well with me as I don't think it is absolutely insane to want to sit down and talk to my husband about a project like this and also figure who will be home during everything etc. That experience turned me off I don't know who would make a decision in one day even if the quote was amazing , without just talking to their partner. We had empire today install our flooring on our first floor of our house in 2021. The experience started off great with a very quick installation, finished in about half a day and it looked great. After that, it just all went downhill. Within a year, they had to send somebody out to repair a spot of our flooring between our dining room and kitchen that was peeling off at the joints. They also put a threshold which caused our continuous flooring to then have a separation near the spot that it was peeling at. We were told that this threshold would help prevent the problem that we had. About two years later, our floor is peeling and buckling in the same exact spot that they fixed before. It is also buckling throughout various spots on our first floor. I called Empire today customer service to see if they would fix the issue since it had already been addressed before. After several phone calls, I was told I had to pay $150 in order to have somebody come out and inspect it because it wasn't within the one-year installation warranty, even though they had already fixed the issue before and the same thing has occurred. After arguing about having to pay to fix the issue, I was told that if somebody came out and it was determined it was a manufacturer warranty, I will get my $150 back. We had somebody come out on January 14 saying that it was a manufacturer recommendation that they did not have to put a moisture barrier under the floor we got. About two years after they installed our floor, the manufacturer apparently now says a moisture barrier is required for our floor. After not hearing anything back for a week, I had called two times asking to figure out what was going on. I was told that it could take about two weeks for them to determine something, and somebody would call me back by a specific date, in which they did not. I have waited two weeks, and then I called again asking if there was any information. I finally got in touch with the person assigned to our case and this person told me it could take 6 to 8 weeks to figure out something. Then sometime in February, we had to have another supervisor come out and inspect the floor just for them to take pictures of the affected areas and say the same thing that the first person said. I waited about another week, and then called asking if there was an update. Kept getting told that someone will be in contact with me by a specific date. On March 3 the person assigned to the case finally reached out and said that they haven't heard anything and they will let us know when they do. we are now 2 1/2 months after the first inspection and empire today still does not know anything from the manufacturer and keeps telling me that they will let me know when they hear something. I do not understand how you have two inspectors say the floors were installed incorrectly and the manufacturer of the floor that we have, now recommends a moisture barrier and nobody can provide me with anything from the manufacturer. With us having these floors for about 4 years, having this issue fixed before and it reoccurring about 2 years later, I feel like the quality and the customer service is absolutely awful. The person assigned to our case, Sharon, also never answers her phone, and whenever you call customer service, they can't even get her to answer the phone. You can never speak to a manager through customer service, and I have been told countless times that I can request a manager to call me but, most of the time they don't. I would never recommend anybody have empire flooring install floors at their house. We bought luxury vinyl plank flooring from lumber liquidators for our previous house and that quality was far better than the junk Empire Today provides. I also installed it myself and had no issues with it. That was my first time ever doing flooring. read more

Installed hardwood flooring. Looked fine to match existing floors. Salesmen managed to sneak in an empire service plan which was an additional 10% of contract price, without us knowing. He said every floor is covered under the plan (implying that it was included with installation, which it is not). Later we had a contractor drop something and crack the flooring, which should have been covered under the plan, but was ultimately denied. IMPORTANT: When dealing with the empire service plan (ESP), they will deny you for any reasonable claim. As such always state that you dropped something accidentally on the floor and the damage happened today or yesterday (within 5 days). Do not give them any extra information with which to deny the claim. The hardwood flooring isn't easily repaired and the locking mechanisms will crack when being pulled up, so they will charge you for entire cases to fix the floor. TLDR: ESP claim always state you did damage and noticed it yesterday. Will deny for any other reason. Watch contract line item for ESP, and don't get it unless needed. Just buy a hardwood floor marker. read more

We ordered carpets for our den and staircase. Installers put a seem down the staircase. I didn't notice until i was going down the stairs, after they left. I called to say i wasn't happy. Was asked to send photos to prove it was not acceptable. They sent back SAME installers, who showed up 4 hours past the time they were supposed to be there. Installer was annoyed and nasty that i called and complained. After they reinstalled, my wife indicated that the carpet they put down wasn't the right carpet (slightly different color and pattern). Installer insisted it was right and left. Since then, we have been calling, emailing, and sending photos to Empire. It's been two months and we have not received an answer. We are thoroughly disappointed and considering filing a better business bureau complaint. Never again. read more

And if you're reading this that means you're smarter than I was; I wish I checked on Yelp before wasting $2,500 by doing business with this company! I'm writing this exactly 2 years after installation and see for yourself (pictured)... there're ripples everywhere! This started about 13 months after installation with one or two ripples and then it seemed as though every time I looked down another would appear. I travel a lot for work and couldn't get to it right away but I finally called them about 2 moths ago, figuring that it being less than 2 years, they would come a fix the problem. Wrong! They told me it's not "covered" and that it would cost me another $190 for them to send someone out to fix their shoddy work. And that in order for it to be covered I would've had to have my carpet professionally cleaned within 6 months of installation. I don't know about you but, paying $350 to have my perfectly clean carpet professionally cleaned seemed absurd! After looking up the causes online, the two biggest reasons for rippling is: high traffic area and inferior padding... I live alone with no pets and I take my shoes off the minute I walk through the door. And I payed for good padding! Even when my apartment is super clean it looks messy with all those ripples, so I now have to either pay someone else to fix their extremely shoddy work and product (because I refuse to give them 1 more penny), or replace my 2 year old carpet. So as I said in the beginning of this review, "BUYER BEWARE!" Unless you are unlike me and happen to like to replace your carpet every year; move all your furniture and other stuff; wait for installers to show up, or not, and shell out that money every year, GO ELSEWHERE! I agree with a lot of these reviews but obviously the company doesn't care since nothing seems to have changed. After having an annoying experience with Home Depot to only find out that they discontinued what we wanted anyway we ended up going with empire. The salesman Christian came to the house with samples on a Friday night and boy was he good at his job cuz he certainly sold us a line thinking they were actually gonna do a good job and if they didn't then it was 100% satisfaction guaranteed so they'd actually answer the phone or return the multiple calls to see why we weren't 100% satisfied. We were told they were coming Tuesday morning for installation...not only did the guy show up at 5pm but he also wasn't prepared to even start the job let alone finish it so he had to come back Wednesday. The floor itself looks good but two main problems-one, the transition molding looks terrible-it's 3 different pieces that are different sizes and he was told while still here that it looks awful and he said it's the best I can do because I don't have enough product with me-you showed up Tuesday without enough product, now you show up Wednesday without enough also? Unprofessional. THEN as we're putting the furniture back in the room we see he DUCK TAPED the wires to the wall-took the paint right off and I'm not talking about a little spec-a large enough amount that now we have to repaint!! (see pix) Nobody at empire will return our phone calls now-we're livid and originally said we would see how this goes and possibly use them to put hardwood floors in the rest of the house-NOPE! When they level my floor they were supposed to use 1/4" plywood BUT USED 3/4". This resulted that my dishwasher can't come out. Now every time I need it fixed I have to call Empire to come and take off the tiles in front of the dishwasher. This time they made the appointment 2 days before PC Richard's was coming. Empire never Came or Confirm the appointment. I called trying to seek to CUSTOMER SERVICE, but I only get a voice mail and they don't return my call. read more

ZERO STARS IF I COULD. I had 2 rugs installed in my home less than a year ago and they both look awful. These rugs do not wear well at all, they look like they are 15 years old or more. The installation was done incorrectly in one of the rooms. After months of back and forth, they finally came to replace the rug and install a new one properly. However, in my other rooms they did not replace when they should have and now I have an issue with the stairs and the rug coming away from them. What do they say, they won't fix it because they installed over 90 days ago. WORST RUGS AND CARPET COMPANY EVER!!!! This company came to my home, ripped up my carpet, had all instructions incorrect and then had the carpet rolled out in my driveway to show me the carpet was defective We spent hours on the phone trying to get someone on the phone. I used them years ago for a large carpet job and was quite pleased. This time, however, my luxury vinyl floor installation was very stressful, and quite unnecessarily. They now interpret "COD" as meaning, pay your balance when they arrive, not when the job is finished. Not only have I never encountered this with a contractor in my 69 years, but everyone I consulted said not to pay in advance, either. What leverage do you then have? Well, the standoff went on for a full hour before they finally relented and authorized their very nice installers to do the job. DON'T EVER USE THIS COMPANY. ITS A SCAM I called Empire from the TV commercials and a recommendation from someone. I made the call with a quick response. The liar I spoke with said "no need for you to be there, I'll deal with your wife. First red flag. When the phoney showed up, he over measured my area by 10ft. The salespeople are dishonest. I selected a carpet style and signed a contract. Then I waited weeks only to be told that that style was out of stock. I called the carpet manufacturer directly to learn it was in stock. I went back to empire and they said they could get it but it would cost a couple thousand extra. I OK-ed it only because I had already given them $10,000 and thought it would be impossible to get the deposit back. When the carpet finally arrived, a third party company installed it. Empire said that it would take two days. The install company said it would take three days. It ended up taking four and a half days. They also banged up my walls so I had to hire a painter to come touch up. Communicating with empire was a total nightmare. I am happy with the way it looks but the process was terrible and I would never do business with them again. 800-588-2300 no thanks. read more

awful service. paid in full to have carpeting installed; vendor showed up with a few sq ft less than the room; decides to leave the job and no answer as to when we can rescheduled. customer service is useless. I am left with all the items out of the bedroom after having hired movers to clear the space. read more

I had empire today come out and charge an exceptionally high price for installing their "super high quality" floor with the "warranty to fit the price". Great I had the floor installed, the work was less than perfect the edges didn't go under the door ways, so there's a gap between the floor and the door jams. Then the entire floor buckled 15 months later. They don't warranty their improperly installed floor after 12 months. Nor is the floor itself warranty from defects unless they come out and say it's defective which cost $175.00 for them to determine if it's defective. Then you must still pay for the labor to replace the floor should they find it defective. So be sure to understand your warranty is null and void after 12 months which isn't enough time if you have a mild weather year to determine if they left enough room for expansion. Wouldn't ever hire recommended or use them again! read more

Empire Carpet is the worst!!!!!! I called them up because I needed carpeting right away and they promise next day installation. After it was measured and I gave them a deposit they told me that they could not do it until Tuesday. This was ordered on Friday. Yesterday they called me to tell me that it did not make it on the truck and they would have to reschedule the appointment for today. After waiting for them over an hour they called to tell me that they don't even have the carpet in stock and it would take a week. From the very beginning I explained to them the urgency of getting this carpet. This was the last step in getting my mom home from rehab after recovering from a long illness.
