Their website claims they carry area rugs but when I went to the store I was told that they only have them in books. Before I could ask to look at the books, I was told to go to National Liquidators for cheap area rugs that will last 2-3 years...I'm not sure how that's supposed to help me if I want a good quality rug for my house. I've been to several tile stores in Queens and Union Carpet is by far the BEST in terms of selection and service. Prior to my appointment, Simon called to confirm we were still on schedule and when he would be on his way, which is always a plus when it comes to customer service. Union Carpet was amazing! I walked in at 6:45 (they close at 7pm) on a weeknight and Simon did not rush me at all. gave me a great quote and the rug was perfectly installed 4 days later!!!! I went to home depot, empire, etc and they all quoted me very high prices for the same exact carpet Simon was selling me and all them would not guarentee installation for 4-6 weeks! Now first off, I'll start with the positive. They did an amazing job with the carpet, the padding is super thick, and the gave us great advise on which carpet was the right fit for us. Long story of complaints below: Now this carpet was for my grandfather's home, and he lives in an co-op building. We were doing the living room, bedroom, and hallway, so there really wasn't room in the apt to put the new carpet (and old, once they took it out) while they were working, so they left it in the hallway. The building had already been overly nice and made accommodations so we could put the old carpet in their garbage room, something they don't usually do. So, his neighbors made multiple complaints to the super, office and doorman because the do not allow things left in the hallway, and the carpet guys brushed them off 5 times saying ok. And after the fifth time the security in the building came up and said if they didn't remove the carpet the super would shut down the install. Well after that, they agreed to bring it downstairs. The super told me they were going to charge my grandfather a fee for some reason. So as they finished and were leaving I told the carpet installed my grandfather was going to call the store to pay. But as a prelude, I called the store to let them know about the carpet in the hallway issue and tell them about the fee they caused on us, so we could maybe work out to pay most right away and the rest after we spoke to the building. BUT, once I started telling her over the phone, she starts yelling at me and saying I'm lying and then assumes I said I wasn't going to pay. I called back a little while later to speak to the boss, and the same thing happened. So he tells the installer not to leave without the money, so they come back upstairs and start harassing me for the money. Now, I'm in my 20s and alone so I wouldn't open the door, and they continued to harass me for almost an hr, until I opened the door and gave him my grandfather's office number to call. This whole ridiculousness of Union Carpet refusing to listen, has cancelled out how happy I was with the carpet and I will never be going back. If only they had simply listened.... read more

We were so satisfied with the work from Union Carpet when they did our apartment that I called them back to do the wood floors on an apartment of ours that just became vacant. Despite the condition of the existing wood floors (stained, unleveled, and not knowing what was under one rooms tiles) I knew we were good hands. I had called Simon and he immediately remembered me, he came in when it was convenient for us, walked thru the apartment, took measurements and then priced us out and ensured me that the floors will be all leveled once his crew was done. I appreciated the fact that Simon walked me thru every step of the process as he did when it was my apartment. His style of work is very consistent. he then showed me a variety of different colors and said once i was ready with a color and finish to give him a call and they can come and do the work. Again it was scheduled based on my convenience. It took them 2 days (one day to strip the floor and one day to stain it) within 4 hours of them leaving the floors were dried and ready to be walked on. His crew worked hard and efficient and once it was done you wouldn't even have known they were there from how they cleaned up. This was just what we needed to lift the apartment up a little.
