What a terrible company. A salesperson came out and measured and spoke to me about carpeting. After taking almost an hour of my time, he quoted me $19,800. I said, yeah...thanks but no thanks. He then gets his high pressure sales manager on the phone who takes the quote to $10,800. I said "Ill think about it" which meant hell no. I then called a realtor friend who suggested a local carpeting place. They quoted me $5800 for the same weight carpet. How horrible that they choose to do business like this. The main reason for this review s the dishonest offer of financing by the salesrep. We purchased carpet in the spring & were told there was interest free financing for 3 years. However in the fine print from the financing company it states interest free is only for 12 months. When I called to discuss the CS person said it didn't matter and too bad! So here is another disappointing outcome with these people. I had the displeasure of speaking with a Mandy, who was basically useless never called us back on time took her a week to just set up an appointment for them to come look at the original problem from seven months ago. They then made an appointment and never showed up. Didn't even receive a call. We then had to call them again to see what was going on or to get an update and they literally had no excuse. Only said that there were no notes so they didn't know they set me up another date, then called me two days later to reach out to me to explain why they originally didn't show up on the first date and to schedule me another I had to let them know that I was already scheduled the woman I spoke to then seemed confused which is hilarious since she was the one who scheduled it since we couldn't get a hold of the wonderful Mandy lol.When they finally did arrive,they were basically trying to figure out a reason to put blame on us for the flooring being messed up, saying moisture,water damage or our chairs. They were pretty convinced that it was water damage and so I stated if it were water, why isn't there any mold!!!!?? The contractor man agreed and nodded,the other man didn't look so content that his partner was agreeing with me. The other hilarious thing is that the contractors were suppose to be here to "fix" the floor and that the original app they made to never show up to was because they were waiting for the correct vinyl planks and when they were here the material they brought with them was not only the wrong shade but also wrong size lol The contractor said that they were solely taking pictures so that whomever which I'm thinking is Mandy the woman we spoke to would have to look at those photos and give an answer based off of that if they would cover replacement or anything, she never called me back go figure!This is what I've gotten since the beginning Even with her first call speaking with us she was rude and I did not appreciate how she spoke to my father solely because he has an accent. Anyway I called them again today because like I said no one called me and this time it was on a recorded line I thought it was ironic that Mandy made sure to be super sweet on the phone, again because of the call being RECORDED she told me that they couldn't do anything and I would have to replace all of my floor and that this was already going to be discounted they quoted me $3600 to fix my kitchen floor which if they would have adequately installed, I wouldn't have had the problem originally or if they would have just fixed it seven months ago, this wouldn't have happened at this point I will never do business with them again! Empire installed luxury vinyl planks on our stairway. The "nose" was half of the stair and did not match at all the actual plank that we picked out. There are huge seams in the middle of the stairs. The salesman acknowledged that the planks "did not match" yet they want to charge us extra ($1200) to fix their mistake. I DO NOT recommend this company. We are very disappointed in the quality of their work, their product, and their lack of professionalism in correcting their mistakes. read more

We had Empire put new carpets in 4.5 years ago-the type that "doesn't stain, doesn't show wear" with a 20 year warranty. Within a year I noticed the carpet showing signs of wear. By year 3 I filed a warranty claim-never heard back. By year 4 I filed two and had to call & threaten a lawsuit to even get a call back. I had to pay $150 to get an adjuster out here. I was told the causes of my wear are "high traffic" and my small 15 lb dog that's causing the loose thread. As such-my warranty is doesn't cover this. Both are complete bs. My second floor is 99% family use only & there is NO way my dog is causing the lose threading since none of my rugs or basement carpet have the same issue. It's a crap company with a crap product. We had a salesman from Empire and Luna come to our home to give us pricing. The long time Empire salesperson told us these 2 companies are now under one umbrella. The Luna salesman did not share the info. They sell the same products, use the same installers, and the pricing could not be any different! The Luna salesmen Aaron came in with an unrealistic price. When I said No thanks. He started the game of txting his manager to get the sale price that just happen to end the day before. Still said No, I needed to review pricing with husband who was not at home. He became pushy and I asked him to leave. about 2 hours later he txted me and wanted to close the deal. No thanks. The next morning Luna called to lower the price again. I got 2 more calls like that, and 1 email. The price came down about $2800. from the first quote Aaron gave me. How is that possible!? I will not go into the Empire salesmen story basically the same story. We did not use either company, and will not ever be using either company. Found a local company, great carpet, great price, great install. Buyer beware! read more

We have used Empire a few times in the past with a great experience, so it was a no brainer to contact them for one of our estimates for carpeting bedrooms in our new home. We both work full-time and are expecting a baby though, so really wanted to make as quick work of this as possible. Making the appointment was easy, but everything after that was awful. Namely, the sales person we worked with. To start, we had asked to be notified when they were on the way so we could situate our dog, who is not keen on strangers. We were told he would be there in 20 minutes, which turned out to be closer to an hour. This was irritating as we were basically just waiting around for him. When he arrived my husband was clear about the two types of carpet we were interested in seeing estimates on: Home Fresh & standard frieze. We also knew from looking at the website what colors we wanted. The salesman first said he couldn't measure until he showed us samples, fine, but he was taking so much time unnecessarily. And, the samples he was showing us weren't even what we asked for. Home Fresh, yes, which was not included in the sale, and plush. When I pointed out they were plush and asked about frieze he never corrected himself or got something we wanted, he only asked "what do you like about frieze?" It was one of many negative and condescending statements he made. Finally, I just asked to see the estimates on both because frankly I didn't want to deal with him anymore, and both were extremely high. So, $8k for Home Fresh & $4,6000 for plush (supposedly on "sale") that we didn't even ask to see. For three bedrooms, no furniture in there yet or anything. He had already figured in warranty and an upgraded pad, neither one we had discussed or asked for. Then, would not provide any itemized estimate or even copies. Said we could take a picture of it and it would be good for 30 days. It was just exhausting. When I said thanks, but we want to think about it he once again started to challenge me, ask me about our budget, mansplain inflation to me, but by that time he had already been there an hour. He implied that we could have negotiated after all of that, but why would I? His attitude was crumby, and he was not showing us what we asked for or being respectful of our time. Simply, he turned what would have been a very straight forward transaction into something very unpleasant. They came to my house the day of installation and said they cannot do the job because they need a special glue! So why don't you carry a special glue with you or go get it! Installation is from 8am to 6pm it's 8:30am now! You mean to tell me you can't go to Menards and pick up glue! Incompetent! Empire hires third party contractors and they come to your house the day of the install to let you know if they can or cannot do the job. The crazy thing about this is that the lady who helped me select the carpet told me they were going to need a special glue! why didn't the installer know this! Would not recommend Empire /Luna for any flooring needs. They will send out a subcontractor to quote your carpet, if you have any issues and reach out to the subcontractor he will not reply or give any assistance, once he makes his sale your history, your left to call the 1-800 # just to have the people answer from home with their screaming kids and barking dogs in back ground and tell you they can't help, they are beyond rude. Only benefit is the quick installation from this business. The installation is yet another subcontractor, so do your homework and find someone who does everything in house.. Paid almost 7000k for one room and two sets of stairs and told it was high end carpet. The carpet has been snagging and told not their issue won't cover the small area that's snagging. AVOID this business and save yourself a headache !! Also when asking to speak with someone that was management I was told I had to send an email first and they would forward the email and they could reach out to me instead of giving me the information to speak to someone. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Totally mislead in the ability for them to do one area at a time since they won't move furniture. I had one major area completed in my loft. That way I could put my furniture there for the remaining upstairs area. When they sent people to finish the job the other set of carpet did not match, the color was off. When I refused due to the color matching issue they refused a refund of the deposit and tried to strong arm me into paying for the job. They then stated I didn't cancel with enough notice-it's impossible to cancel with notice when you receive materials that don't match. After they harassed me over the phone for over a week-the last call they tried to negotiate for them to redo all the carpet at once-but after receiving the harassing calls, horrible customer service why would I allow you back in my home. However, the product (a berber carpet) is such terrible quality that the loops started popping up all over the place after just three days of our family and dogs using the carpeted space. We've had carpeted areas of our home for over 20 years and dogs for over 20 years. as well Luna/Empire does not return phone calls in a timely manner and I've been going back and forth with them for three weeks. Most recently, the customer service rep I spoke with said that it was my fault because I was the one who chose the carpet. I've sent pictures but no one has actually been out to see the damage yet and they've been very dismissive of my queries. They have a 30 day "love your carpet" guarantee that I'd like to initiate, but it involves me paying all installation costs ($1000K) because I "don't like" the carpet. I believe that they should issue a refund or cover ALL replacement costs because the product is astonishingly subpar. read more

Horrible scheduling service! Last week I called and spoke with a representative to make an appointment for service to my brand new four level townhome. I confirm the date and time but two days prior when I didn't see any email or text I decided to call again and they did not show any reservation in the system. Mind you I own my own business and treat clients and I had already canceled and moved clients to make time for this two hour window appointment. We then scheduled another appointment and again when I didn't receive a confirming email or text I called to confirm and was given a different date and time in the system than what we had agreed to. At this point I just told the representative to keep it in the system and I would take time off again and wait for them for their appointment. I am at my house on a Saturday afternoon and no one showed up because apparently the system had me scheduled for a totally different day and time again! At this point I told the representative that answered, to cancel any and all appointments in the system that I would never be utilizing their horrible scheduling service. As a business owner myself, I also have schedulers that answer my calls seven days a week. That job is one of the most important Part of any business that can make you or break you. Too much money has been lost due to all of this mess scheduling and I would never recommend Empire carpet to anyone ever. I needed new flooring for my first floor. I selected vinyl tile for my kitchen powder room and laundry area and a stain resistant carpet for my living room and dining room. The salesman assured us the carpet would stand up to anything. Fast forward. Carpeting gets installed. Seems ok. Flooring gets installed. I had to tell the first team they sent out to stop. They did a shoddy job. They didn't take up the original flooring and did such a messy job of cutting you could see the original floor and the underlaymentt they had put down when you put the quarter round against the wall. Pictures attached. In addition, I caught one of the crew members throwing a piece of the original quarter round with nails on it on my front stoop. Maybe he hoped I or my dog would step on it?? Second crew was awesome. Fixed all the first crew's screw ups. Within a month of completion, the carpeting started failing - mashed down where my fiancé sits. Had them come out. My choices were to pick a different carpeting or flooring at additional costs to me. This flooring wasn't cheap. It was over $7,000. They did give me a small credit for the flooring troubles Long story short, not willing to give this company another cent of my money, I am paying almost $200 a month until this is paid off, have carpeting that I hate and a very bad taste in my mouth about this company. Also found out that Luna is the same company. My advice: go to Home Depot or anywhere else. If I could have given them negative stars I would have. So much money and so disappointing. read more

The excuse/reason this time was that nobody had confirmed today's installation date, even after I had a lengthy and very positive conversation with the call center agent back then. I gave her my number, as the original reservation was under a different phone number, and nobody called me to reconfirm anything (my phone logs all calls). If I pulled this kinda malarkey at my job, I'd have been canned MONTHS ago. We've clearly crossed the Rubicon into ridiculous. And, ya wanna know what *truly* sucks about this whole snafu? You guys installed wood flooring throughout the entire rest of the house last September, and YOU DID SUCH A MIND-BOGGLINGLY BEAUTIFUL JOB, I'm *still* in awe! No joke, peeps! That said, you guys were able to put a gorgeous wood floor through an entire house, but somehow can't tile a 10' x 8' kitchen for the life of ya? COME ON, MAN! I had a great experience with Empire Today. We requested a quote on their website January 1st and got an appointment for January 3rd. Zach Mullins was the person that came to our home and took the measurements. He gave us a quote and offered us $200 discount if we signed up for service in the same day as the quote so we did. Luna who is owned by Empire Today gave us a quote the previous day but didn't offer any discount/special. January 6th, we get a phone call confirming our appointment. The installer, Jose, called us in the afternoon giving us an hour notice of their arrival. Installation took roughly 2 hours. He did such an amazing job we even gave him a tip because we didn't have a lot of room for him to measure and cut the carpet pieces. I would definitely recommend them and would use them again. read more

I will never do business with empire. had salesman come and give us pricing for new flooring, he said they can do what we wanted, go over the existing hardwood & tile by front door. first date was for 8/5th, got phone call from Helen the cordinator at 7:10 am, morning of installation, saying i'm sorry material did not come in, mind you got several texts & calls to confirm date. 2nd date 8/16. installers showed up 7:30 am, great going to get flooring!!!. after 2 hours, the guy is telling me they cannot do what salesman said they can do. cant go over the hardwood floors, would need to take it all up, need to take up tile and lay down the flooring, saying its going to cost more money. reached out to salesman, he apologized , nothing got resolved. this has gone no where, they keep calling, texting & emailing me starting on the same day saying new installation date is 8/30. i never agreed to this, and i am not getting any answers if they can do what i need. salesman is not returning calls, texts since friday 8/16. asked for a supervisor call, have not rec'd one either. this has cost me to lose days work, and had to pay for boarding of the dogs., still waiting for supervisor to call me. will give this company a negative score...... please fell free to reach out to me. gina J read more

They put in the wrong color carpeting twice and the first floor that they were supposed to be installed with vinyl planking the installers were shocked that Luna said no problem thus absolutely can be done. Stay way from empire. Installation warranty is only for 1 year and you have to pay for an inspection to find out if the floor is defective.. Floors started separating 3 weeks after installation. Local office does not respond to calls or voice messages. Repair/installation scheduling is a nightmare and there is no guarantee that they will even show up. Corporate is not much better, they send a message into the void of no-response. We spent around 6 hours on the phone, mostly on hold, with local and corporate with no resolution. We've had to go through the same process 3 or 4 times since installation. Once the 12 months mark had hit, they tried to make us pay for repairs. We are in the process of doing a multi-room condo remodel before listing the unit for sale. We had selected a company for the work, but decided that it would be a good idea to get a separate estimate from a flooring company to compare with our builder's estimate. The Empire Today sale representative was able to promptly visit the property and arrived on time. He took some measurements and showed us a good selection of vinyl plank flooring. We selected two types of flooring that we were most interested in, one that was on sale and another that was not. The sales rep was able to give us a quote while on-site, but it was not competitive with our other estimate. The flooring that was not on sale was ridiculously expensive; more than $20,000 for about 900 sqft. of flooring? We were also concerned about a one day turnaround for the demolition and installation of the new flooring by a sub-contractor and the possibility of a rushed job. Customer service has been an absolute nightmare to work with. We financed out carpet with Empire wh9ch is through Wells Fargo. They had signed us up for 13 months no interest, but we wanted to switch to the 48 month financing. We were told that was no big deal and juat just call Wells Fargo and switch. We called Wells Fargo and they told us to call empire. So we call empire and they approve the switch and said it could take up to 30 days. This was all done on 3/11. On 4/12 we receive a bill that shows we still have the 12 month financing and our minimum payments are much larger than we can afford. So I call Wells Fargo, they werw never told about the change of financing and told us to call empire. I call empire, they tell us to call Wells Fargo. I said no. I just did and they said to call you. Now they tell me to talk to our rep. I talked to my rep and he said to talk to empire finance department. Who I had just spoke with. I was told someone would call me the next day. No one did. I'm at a stand still. Nobody has fixed anything and I'm going to get completely screwed when I can't pay it off in a year and then get charged for the 28.99% interest. Yes this was back in 22 but me not knowing he did not put the vinyl down right and was breaking them as he was doing it and then I noticed overtime These crackling noises and then I begin to call Empire. They gave me a runaround for a whole year then to add insult to injury they told me I have to pay $500 because my warranty was up. I am OK with that but where is my wrong being right at ? for him, breaking the tile as he was putting it down initially the only reason why I didn't say anything before the warranty was up and not knowing that the warranty was spin up is because I lost my son and it wasn't on my mind, And I also explained all of this to them. Worst experience ever....Spent over 14k in hardwood/carpet. The installers cut the carpet way too short so they put in an ugly rubber transition strip to adjoin the rooms. Had multiple installers out to attempt to fix it as well as multiple cancellations also but it was ruined and unfixable. Literally after MONTHS of trying to resolve the issue and them completely wasting our time sending people out, cancelling last minute and with zero result, I finally asked for a refund of 1,000 so we could hire a pro to possibly try and do something and their manager Julio said no to that. The sales guy didn't tell me that asbestos was a concern, so the installer showed up and refused to do the job without a clean air test. $4000 later, abatement complete, I am trying to reschedule with Empire, still haven't heard back period every time I reach out they tell me it'll be 1 to 3 business days.
