When I was originally shopping for carpet (4 years ago) Joe was very friendly during the sales pitch at our home. His prices seemed fair. Joe said that his installers had been with him for over a decade during his sales pitch and we ended up purchasing carpets for our entire upstairs of a new home. During the installation, I made reference to Joe and the installers had no idea who I was talking about. RED FLAG. Fast forward 4 years later- the quality of the carpet is fine but there are wrinkles everywhere in our carpeting. See pictures. I contacted Joe and he told me that that is the nature of carpet. After asking around and getting a few estimates for carpeting stretching elsewhere, I learned that the carpeting wasn't installed properly. When I called Joe he tried to tell me that it was a humid year, which is a very lame excuse for him not standing behind the installers he uses. Joseph Taylor came out to give us a quote and supplied us with plentiful options and lots of information. I just went through an intensive process of finding a contractor for installation of bamboo floors in my Streeterville condo. I talked to a number of contractors using servicemagic.com, some of which 1) never contacted me again - i assume b/c the job was too small and downtown condos are a pain, 2) tried to convince me to put in real hardwood floors, or 3) threw so much flooring jargon at me that I ended up staring at the ceiling and wishing I were at the office. Update: We moved and had to redo all the carpeting upstairs in our new home. Joe as usual was great and very accommodating! So we did the typical search for carpeting in our condo through the major advertisers and ended up calling in Luna for a quote.. Not to brag, but I consider myself quite the negotiator and based on some research I expected there to be some back and forth with Luna. Between Luna's arrival and departure (and follow up the next day) there was a 50% discount from their original offer. I declined to commit to a sale that evening despite their much appreciated persistence to close as I indicated that I needed to check other options. Here's where Joe from Carpets in the Park comes in. I had arranged an appointment with him a few days down the road from our other appointment and he was on time as scheduled. There was no real offer/counter offer scenario here. Joe came in and took his measurements and gave me his price. While not as cheap as where Luna's final offer came in the spread was only a couple hundred bucks and this was his first offer. I explained where Luna came in at and we agreed to split the difference. Deal done. For those of you out there that don't appreciate the art of negotiation, Joe is the way to go. We had arranged for a tentative installation date as he was told he would receive the carpets by a certain date but could not guarantee that would happen so he also provided an alternative date. Luckily, things panned out the way we wanted and he called to follow up and indicate we were okay with the tentative date we initially agreed to. Installers were prompt, courteous, they are definitely knowledgeable about their profession. The install was great and they moved all my large furniture around without damage. I definitely recommend Joe and Carpets in the Park. I would have given 5 stars but I felt that there was a lot of leftover material that could have potentially brought the price down (I have 3 fairly large rolls of carpeting leftover). We contacted Carpets in the Park to provide us quote to add hardwood in several rooms in new home we purchased. We wanted hardwood to match what was already in place in kitchen and entryway. Joe arrived -took pictures of what we had - measured space and let us know he would begin to work on finding what we needed. He also made recommendations on direction to lay hardwood to enhance the spaces. Several days later he reached out to us with info in email and link to online information about the product. When he came over he had sample and we were able to make final selection and sign contract. Since we were still living out of the area, I arranged for his installers to access the house and complete installation. When we arrived the following week, the work was completed and spaces cleaned. We found one area where carpeting needed to be properly tacked down and I contacted Joe and he let me know . he said he would have it taken care of promptly. After an initial hiccup, the owner Joe came to our house to personally show us carpet samples for our three bedrooms. He was very patient as my indecisive husband and I tried to choose a color. We picked a date to have the carpet installed. The next morning, I emailed Joe saying my mom could be available to be at the house the following Friday. Joe was very responsive and put a rush on our order. He still kept the first date we chose in case the carpet didn't make it in time. I was called two days prior to the installation date letting me know we were ready to roll. The installers were on time, courteous, and got the job done beautifully. We wanted a lot of cushion and even upgraded the padding. We were told we would need to shave the bottom of the bedroom doors because the carpet would be so plush there the door wouldn't clear it. It was hard for us to tell from the small sample brought to our home that this was entirely false. The carpet is very thin and sitting on the floor in the playroom is uncomfortable. When we followed up, we were told that is the quality of the carpet that we chose and for that price, that is what we should have expected. Really, after spending thousands of dollars, I expected to get what we were told we were getting, which was thick, padded carpet. I would not recommend them to anyone. We spent so much money that we are waiting to replace the carpet, but when we do, we will go to an actual store and not buy from someone who brings samples to the house. read more

We had already viewed a commercial for "Rhino" carpet and asked Joe to bring samples.
