I ordered the fried seafood combo platter. More than enough food for two. I was able to substitute the curly fries for regular. The order was delivered within reasonable time by a well dressed and friendly driver. The food was good, maybe a little soggy on the fries, due to time spent in the foam tray. This place is an awesome place their pizza is alright. the cheese is real cheesy i def had better pizza but when i want cheese pizza this is the place i love to go. This place is a hit or miss. My husband and I have been ordering from this specific empire pizza for about 1 1/2 years. Our order is pretty much the same each time, give or take a pizza. Our usual order is a large Greek salad, large garden salad & 12 wings with sauce on side. We've sometimes ordered 3 days in a row because the food used to be outstanding. Fresh romaine lettuce, super green and crunchy, fresh cucumber and plenty slices, crunchy juicy sliced tomatoes and thin slices of fresh purple onions. I wanna say for about the last 6 months every order has been wrong in some sort of way. The salads were no longer fresh, sometimes no sauce for our wings, sometimes hardly any salad at all, sometimes the salads would be missing a vegetable and this last time instead of sauce on the side, they drenched our wings in the hot sauce. The thing that really upset me today and caused me to write this review, is that every order we have made has been through the online website where we can type the special instructions to have our food delivered. I'm not really sure how you can mess up an order when the instructions are written for you. Not only that but this time our delivery guy came to our door and told my husband to his face that next time "you will come down and pick it up from me"! Are you serious? My husband told him no you'll come back and deliver it and shut the door. He called empire to talk to management and the girl who answered told him that he wasn't in yet. My husband got the name of the driver who we found out was Ziya. We tipped this guy $4.00 we have no idea what his problem was. We've spent a ton of money at this place. $28 for two salads and 12 wings each time and more had we ordered a pizza. We've had empire deliver here for the last year & a half. I have restaurants that we have gone to just a hand full of times that can remember our order & our faces. This is a serious outrage. I wish it was possible to give half a star as this business does not even deserve a full one. First we waited quite a while for the food to come and we even had to call to confirm that they did not forget about us. Then when the pizza and wings finally arrive they were cold. We called the restaurant to speak with someone about how unsatisfied we were about our order and the girl that answered the food basically called me a liar about our food being cold and told me that if I wanted anything done about it I needed to drive all the way there. I've had this happen with one other location and they were very sincere and apologized and even brought me a new pizza with no questions asked... Anyways, I drove all the way there and one of the employees was disputing the fact that our pizza was cold then another employee comes out and starts making a scene with my boyfriend and I. I think Empire has improved recently. Their quality of their pizza still seems kind of erratic, running from bland or greasy one week to absolutely delicious the next. The only pattern I've noticed is that the larger the pizza the better it tends to be. I've had the best luck with their party sized pizzas -- which are damn cheap if you use a coupon. I still think their grinders are a bit weak but fine for a quick lunch, and their calzones are pretty average, though big. However, their salads are the best I've had delivered -- the chicken ceasar and Greek salads both are exceptional -- and their Gyros are also top notch. read more

The drivers for Empire Pizza are lunatics. This one driver cut me off and decided to block me in the road in front of my car because he thought I was flashing my lights at him....little did he realize my SUV is higher than his car and the road was bumpy. Because of this I would never get pizza from this place again. Had it once or twice and it's a greasy mess and there are plenty of other good pizza places in Meriden that are worth patronizing. I am the type of person who will usually try to give a place another chance to prove themselves, unless the first experience is a complete disaster and there is no turning back. With Empire Pizza, this was the third and last time for them. The first issue I had was they got our order completely wrong and added things to our food that we requested be removed due to a food allergy. The second issue was that on my way home one night from work, I tried to call in an order on my cell phone and in the middle of ordering, my phone cut out. I called back to apologize and finish and the lady told me she doesn't have time for me and hung up. When I reached my house and tried to call again, the phone rang and rang and they would not answer my call. The third and final time, they forgot a grinder we ordered and when I called about it, the man seemed as though I was lying and we went back and forth. We finally received the grinder a half an hour later, when the delivery driver pulled up in our driveway like a bat out of hell and his music blasting. He practically threw the grinder at me. being a pizza connoisseur which I think I am being I've eaten pizza in all 50 states for 40 years empire is the lesser of evils in the meriden area it was a consistent pizza go to for 5 years until today. 4 days ago I ordered two slices to go at 9 pm. when I got home they were a weak old crust and terrible, now this being the first, so I called and told them and the owner he said ok next time your in we will make up for it.. so today I went in and here's when it gets good. as I addressed the young phone order taker he had to bring out the owner at then he started challenging me about the bad pizza first where is it I said I though it out it was so bad and he rolled his eyes. then I said I saved one piece it's still in the box in the car he said yeh where did you get it from dominos ( a slanderous comment to make ) then the phone taker 17 year old twit said " well that was 4 days ago why are you coming in now" like that has any thing to do with them serving bad pizza.. the owner with a big attitude said ok just wait.. ok no problem. I went to the car to bring the bad slice in and when I did it was a csi show 3 people had to come out and look at it..... the point I'm trying to make CUSTOMER SERVICE is everything in these industries I know I managed 6 bars from CT to Miami to LA I'm not going to say there normal pizza is bad, ( it just so so ) but I will never repeat business that deals with a customer like it's the trash they throw out.. Plus if you go there and walk into the dining area ( if you want to call it that more like a storage room for boxes and soda ) you will see it's the dirtiest I've ever came across and at this day the kitchen staff was prepping salads in the front of the house and not one had gloves on. I wish there's number below 0 to rate the customer service of this place.. they will not miss my average $40 a month for the last 3 years but hopefully others will recognize HOW IMPORTANT customer service is...... ps in all my traveling Meriden is by far the worst in customer service in all business's thank God I won't be here much longer.... read more

I work nearby and we used to order from Empire all the time. Their food wasn't the best (greasy beyond belief) but it was edible, they delivered, and it was close. However, we had a bad experience with them almost a year ago and haven't ordered since. The people that answered the phone were extremely rude and actually started fighting with us on the phone and then insisted that we pay for food we didn't order. We explained to them that there was a misunderstanding and the exact response we got was "that's not my problem." We told them we were canceling our order and wouldn't be calling back, that they were losing a customer group that orders from them 3-4 times a week, and they were even ruder until we finally ended the conversation. The pizza sucks.. Everytime I ordered a pizza they either forgot my side, or put stuff on it i didnt order. I ordered a white clam x cheese , no garlic and 3x clams..I got a regular clam pizza no extra cheese no triple clam..and I was charged for the extra stuff I didn't receive. Sheriff is the only one there that makes the pizza right the other chefs suck. I order no garlic i get garlic, ask for a side of cheese they forget the side, ask for a 2 ltr of soda they forget the soda, they can't get the orders stright. The grinders are ok and the salads are ok, use to be better but since they switched to stryoform plate the salads are a lot smaller in size but they charge the same price as the old size. The phone staff has no personality thery are rude and snippy. I have recently started using Napoli's pizza in meriden, they do an execellent job on their pizza and when you ask for extra cheese you get extra cheese and its not soggy or cold, its hot and very good.I wont order pizza from empire any more.they blew it.. read more

Okay, this isn't a New Haven pizza restaurant. It isn't supposed to be. It's a tiny little take out place in the end of a tiny plaza in Meriden. But if you give them a chance you will find a few hidden gems. The chicken caesar salad is out if this world amazing and hands down one of the best caesar salads we have come across anywhere! (Get the chicken on the side if you want super crisp lettuce, otherwise the chicken wilts it a bit.) My husband is pretty much obsessed and most other caesar salads are ruined to him. Needless to say then, the chicken caesar wrap is also excellent. The chicken souvlaki (a greek chicken pita) is fantastic. Both of those dishes are 5 star, no question. The pizza has been a range of just ok to really pretty good. I've had many of the grinders and they are decent. Calzones are huge and good and stromboli is even better. (Ask for extra sauce!) In my opinion, people are too harsh on this place. Try the caesar salad or the chicken souvlaki... you won't regret it.! read more

Ordered a large meat lovers calazone and when it arrived the box was open, the top of the calazone was so hard and paper thin it cracked, it looked like the driver was picking the meat from the part that was cracked open, it was over cooked, partially burnt and when I called to let them know (in a very nice manner) they argued with me for about five minutes before reluctantly agreeing to send me another calazone. When I got the second calazone it was greasy, extremely smaller than the one I ordered, very little meat (mostly dough) and no marinara sauce on the side. The driver they sent was extremely rude and disrespectful and making rude comments to me about me be dissatisfied. I will no longer order from them nor will any of my family, friends or coworkers and I urge anyone else not to order from them because you will be wasting your time and money. So the food is okay. Not great but not horrible. However, the service is absolutely horrible! They've gotten our order wrong twice and charged us for something we never got. When explaining this to them they told us that never happened. When I went to their location to pickup our food, because I clearly ordered "pickup"'online, they told me there was a delivery driver out right now bringing our food. So I had to rush home with him waiting outside. I was still charged a delivery fee as well as tipping the driver. The last and final straw of this place was when they double charged us for our food because they ran our credit card twice. Then when calling them to fix it we had to go out of our way to provide a bank statement as proof. Even if the food was spectacular I would never go back to this place again. Horrible customer service from these people and honestly I don't think they care. Otherwise with multiple poor reviews as they have, maybe they would actually do something about it. read more
