After a hike at Castle Craig we headed to Hubbard Pizza for a greasy slice of pizza. My cousin swears this is the best pizza around. Since she's not a Yelper I can say she doesn't have the best taste in pizza. But according to her it was cheap and good. Their lunch special was $4.75 for 2 slices of pizza and a soda. Ergg I hate soda after a hike but I wanted the best bang for my pennies. The water bottle was smaller than the soda bottle so I went with an Orange Fanta loaded with Red Dye #40. You can always count on Red Dye #40 to give you an artificially stimulating high. My tired body bounced back into a rejuvenating bottle of energy within seconds. Oh yes back to the pizza. The restaurant was WAY too hot to dine in - BE WARNED NO AC. They had booths but besides that there isn't much. Oh the pizza wasn't all that great. I prefer Angelina's in West Hartford because the slices were a true bargain. The slices here were rather small. If I'm going to eat a greasy pizza I want a stuff your face will feel guilty slice. Offers were cheese and pepperoni. They grab you a slice and reheat it up quickly. Gosh this economy is terrible for my diet. Now onto the service, the guy working the counter was amazing. Very friendly and talkative. Service was amazing but see I didn't come for the service. Overall I would say this was place okay nothing special at all. Next time I'll just drive by and pick a random place because in all honesty it wasn't worth it. *review is for their lunch special by the slice pizzas*

great staff, easy ordering, quality ingredients, they don't skimp on the toppings, and the wood fired oven makes all the difference.

We arrived early on, what I thought was off hours and ordered in person, the wait time was 4 hours. I don't live far so it was easy to come back. The dining area is tight and pretty basic, so plan on wooden bench in limited space if you are dining in. I would also recommend calling way in advance with your order. As far as pizza goes, I have had the opportunity to sample most of the high profile places and understand why this place deserves to be on the list. The crust is pretty fantastic and overall a really good pie. When we went, there was no line. The grab and go was super simple, cash only. Order ahead, plan accordingly, and enjoy.

Old fashioned decor with old pictures on the wall and well worn but sturdy wooden tables. Pizza was a 3.0. We think that it had too much sauce. We prefer a balance of sauce, cheese and crust. It had the taste of oregano, which we do not want on pizza. We prefer garlic in the taste to oregano. The price was reasonable and it was prepared in a reasonable amount of time.

They do advertise for combo deal's, slices, $1 wings. Angelina's is directly across the street from Hubbard Park too. I'd assume people grab and go to the park. We ordered a simple cheese pizza and a chicken cutlet sandwich. The pizza was fresh, melty cheese with tasty Italian spices and perfectly cooked crust, but wasn't anything special. There are many other pizzerias in the area so it comes down personal preference and price. The chicken cutlet sandwich was a decent size and delicious. We were happy with the portion sizes, quality, and price. Our total was about $23 and we had leftovers (this was for 2 people). We will likely order again and will think of this place if we plan to have pizza for a gathering.

On a recent Saturday I finally stopped in for their $6.50, 2 slice pizza deal that comes with a 20 ounce Coke. The pizza is New Haven style and baked in a wood fired oven, need I say more? The slices were delicious and likely the best in the immediate area so I will be returning in the not too distant future. One word of caution - be prepared to pay an additional 4% over menu prices if you choose to pay by credit card.

I've been to this little pizza shop twice now…read more My first visit was made after a long day when my friend and I were hungry and hoping to find good local pizza nearby. I'd driven pass Empire Pizza many times but this would be my first experience easting there. We ordered a large pizza with mushrooms and peppers, asking for the pizza to be made "light on the cheese" and the order was a pleasant surprise for both of us. I rate that experience slightly above average, 3.5 stars and determined that I'd visit again in the future. The second visit was with my uncle who had visited to help with some repairs and a pizza reward seemed appropriate. Our order was also mushrooms and peppers, but I didn't ask for any alteration to the cheese volume since I knew that my uncle would prefer more cheese and he had made the trip just to help me so I decided to see how this pizza would rate. Sadly, I found the pizza less exciting overall, barely average. BTW, the pizza isn't New Haven style pizza and is more of a local variation on NYC style pizza (which I prefer over New Haven style pizza). Based on the two visits I'd rate Empire Pizza three stars overall, IOW average. There's nothing wrong with average pizza, so this isn't intended as a slight in any way.
