I am the Owner of Empire Floor Covering. My name is Michael Lucas. This business was started by my parents in Rancho Bernardo in 1970. I purchased the company from my parents in 1981. The company started as Empire Steam Clean and evolved into new flooring over the 1 st decade. I was the licensed contractor in our family business. I have been a licensed Contractor since 1980. That License number was # 395930. Due to my father's illness, I purchased the company from my parents in 1981. My father passed away one week after the business purchase was completed. The state required that I get my contractor's License number changed to reflect that I was the new owner in 1982. That number is #433077. I have had no complaints filed against my Contractors License in 38 years and counting. I go the extra mile with every client to make sure each project is done to their satisfaction. I have consulted and provided helped create new questions for the Contractor's State License Board when they update the C-15 Flooring license trade exam. I do all estimates and I am personally involved in every installation. I provide lifetime installation warranties on all of our projects. I have been installing floor covering since I was 16 years old, I am about to turn 60. I have been blessed with loyal customers who have faithfully supported my company since the 1970's.
Please search CSLB License look up on the internet, my license number is #433077. You will see my license info on the California State License Board website. I sign contracts with every client as required by the state of California.
There has been ongoing confusion with my company and " Empire Today" that advertises on television. I have no connection with that company in any way. I have never offered 50% off sales or other similar promotions. I spent ten's of thousands of dollars in the legal system many years ago trying to clear up this confusion. The word "Today" was added to their commercials during that process, the court thought that would be enough to remedy the confusion. That resolution did not solve the confusion. We still get phone calls on a regular basis from consumers looking to connect with "Empire Today" I am not aware of a local phone number for them.
I have found reviews placed on my Yelp page from people I have never heard of. Please be sure of the Owner's name, business address, phone number, and Contractor's License Number before you place a review of any kind on this page. It is extremely difficult to get an incorrectly placed review removed or corrected. People have left bad reviews after purchasing poor quality materials or experiencing lousy service. I understand their frustration! Reviews are placed and then people move on and don't always return to this page to correct an improperly placed review.
The reviews from Tim T. and Susan L. are my customers. They are actually second generation clients as I worked for their parents before there was the internet! The other reviews are from consumers I have never heard of. I would suggest they file a complaint with the CSLB against the company listed on their sales contract.
I want the true experiences of my clients to be placed here. I also want the true experiences of other companies to be placed on their business page so all consumers will know what to expect if a decision is made to request an estimate. read more
