I ordered from this restaurant through Ubereats. My order was clearly broken down according to the items I wanted. There were add ons I put in the notes section which I was told beforehand by someone at the restaurant could be done and charges would be added on since the item is not on the menu. Apparently staff is not capable of reading the order tickets correctly because I received my order missing half of my items. When I called the restaurant staff was rude. A girl said she thought I was replacing one item with another when the ticket never showed that. After being hung up on twice I called back and asked to speak to a manager or owner. He was just as rude stating the add ons could not be charged and he thought they were replacements as well. As far as my other missing item, that was never addressed. I was appalled. I was missing four items from my order in which are all clearly printed on the ticket but instead of anyone taking responsibility and offering to fix it they were all nasty and kept hanging up on me. Please do not order from this establishment. read more

A better than average diner, the food is excellent and always well prepared. It's a "go to" choice for something a little different that's not too expensive. Breakfast is our favorite, but we also like to stop by late night for coffee and dessert. In our experience, the service has always been above average as well. read more

This is the classic diner! Their staff is friendly and very responsive. I am a true breakfast guy and I especially love their pancakes. Moreover, their lunch and dinner options are equally tasty. I especially enjoy the turkey, stuffing, gravy and mashed potatoes! I would recommend this place to anyone in need of a great diner with great prices! read more

Purchased 2 salmon salads last Thursday that were horrible. Couldn't eat half of the lettuce on the salads because it was in terrible condition. The salmon tasted old, not fresh. My salad dressings were missing. Their desserts look appetizing, but taste HORRIBLE. read more

We drove by this place on the way back from Philly and decided to stop by their the next morning for breakfast. We got in their at about 9 am on a Thursday and the diner was fairly empty. The waitress was very nice and was playing with our 9 month old son. I ordered the stuffed french toast and my girlfriend ordered an omelet with home fries and bacon. The french toast portion was huge but the cream cheese in the french toast was sickish sweet. The girlfriends home fries were under cooked and the bacon was very tough and seemed it was not cooked to order. The portions matched the price but the food was not great. read more

Excellent diner with a very diverse clientele. I have yet to have a poor meal here! Good portions and speedy service, I'll eat here at almost as any opportunity! read more

The food at the Empire diner is on point, most times. Just received a very tasty chocolate cake for Father's Day. Though it was very good, the cake to icing ratio was off. They used a bit too much chocolate icing, to where it was like an icing dessert. Maybe use a little less icing and a little bit more cake for that type of cake. Just a suggestion. Otherwise, it tasted great! read more

The ketchup here is amazing.... I know it is just heinz but I think they did something to it.... Like I can't even sleep. I'm up all night having dreams about it. Oh we talking about the food right? Yeah its alright.... without ketchup! read more

I have been going there for years when it was the Blue Comet. Their food has always been good. Very good portions, service good and delicious coffee. Like a previous writer, I wonder about the negative responses also. Especially the lady (Karen K ) who claimed handed waitress her debit card at the table to pay. Normally, they give you the slip and you walk up to the counter and pay the management. I do take out and have never seen an added fee as someone else stated. Empire Diner is the place to do for good food and great portions. read more

Visited July 3rd quality of food was poor. Service was horrible. Waitress forgot food items. Had to be reminded of b missing items Desert, apple pie and coconut cake we're poor quality. Waitress asked us cash out because she wanted to leave before we were ready to leave period She said she was supposed to be off at 9 o'clock and was 9:30 even though we had given her her her check before she was leaving. I do not recommend this dinner. read more

Best diner in the area! Solid food and great service. Always a great choice, for breakfast or dinner.

Breakfast - Lunch - Dinner - Late Night - 24/7, I've been there at all hours of the day. The portions are LARGE and satisfying; be prepared to take home your leftovers. The menu is massive...there's something for everyone. The wait staff is friendly and accommodating. The pastry case is very enticing, BUT be not deceived, the pastries looks better than they taste!! They're NOT sweet, at all!!! But with that being said, it's always a great experience at the Empire, just get ice cream or Jello for dessert or pick up your dessert on the way home from somewhere else! read more

Average diner food. Only been here a few times on my way back home from nights out partying. Food isn't horrible, but probably wouldn't go back sober. read more

I called to order food, a woman answered said they do not take orders after 10pm. You have to come in to the store to order....okay....I was hungry, it was pretty late so I decided to go anyway. I got there and the place was for the most part empty. I ordered a shrimp salad royal. Which is a open faced sandwich with shrimp salad covered with a tomato and swiss cheese on a english muffin. 1st, my order took forever to come out of the kitchen. They told me 10 to 15 mins. It was well over 30 mins with a pretty much empty diner. After it came out the cashier wasn't even apologetic for the wait. In fact she didn't even say anything. I had to ask if the bag that came out was my order and she said "yeah, that's you." Other things I noticed, the floors of the diner was sticky and the place just looked dingy overall. Now to the food....the only thing I could eat was the fries but if they call what the heck was on the english muffin shrimp salad then they should shutdown. The shrimp was the little tiny maggot shrimps you would see in the dollar store or sitting in can next to someones pet turtle as a snack. No joke!!! And they charge $12 for the abomination and it's a feature item on the menu. This place should no longer be in business AT ALL, it's a far cry from a time when it was worth going to. There are SOOOOOO many other diner around. I only went to Empire because it was super late and close. NEVER EVER AGAIN! read more

Service was wonderful. Our server and the cashier were both very friendly. I had a nice late hours breakfast (some places seem to try a little less outside of normal meal hours, not the case here). The hash browns with pepper and onions were very tasty. Huge dessert case and all of our items sampled were delicious. read more

Service was horrible orders were mixed up also when the food got to the table it was cold and the eggs were loose and running

i love the Empire Diner. Breakfast is guaranteed to be great, no matter what you get. I usually order the creamed chipped beef and it is always delicious. My favorite dinner item on their menu is meatloaf. The gravy on the meatloaf is really, really, good. Portions are huge and the side vegetables are always delicious. A salad or soup comes with each entree. Their salads are a good size and the soup is always scrumptious. I have a hard time deciding between the soup or salad every time I go. They normally have 2 or 3 soup choices and you can get a garden salad or greek salad. They also offer bread with each meal. You can get normal bread, cheese bread, or garlic bread if you order pasta. How do you beat all of that food? I always have lunch. The meatloaf special also comes with a soda. read more

The counter/bar area smelled horrible, and the entire time the waitress kept complaining because she was supposed to be off and they hadn't cut her yet - very unprofessional. The shrimp in a basket with fries that I ordered was good, but the bad smell made me want to get out of there. read more

Don't let the renovations fool you! I went here with my husband and two children and it was a terrible experience. The waitress was slow and forgetful, the food came out cold and gross - not even a hint of seasoning/flavor - and the manager was unapoligetic . . . he barely spoke english but somehow managed to know the correct rude phrases . . . Terrible food, lazy wait staff, and poor management - don't let the fancy rennovations suck you into this poor excuse for a food establishment. read more

I'm not usually one for diners, but this is one of the best diners I've ever been to. Their star dish is their Chicken Tenders. They're huge, crispy, and juicy. Clearly the folks at Empire Diner know how good they are, because they must be on that menu at least a dozen times (There's a chicken tender salad, chicken tenders with french toast, its part of the appetizer sampler, etc.) If everything at Empire Diner were as delicious as the Chicken Tenders, they would earn 5 stars hands down. Most of the other things that I've tried there are quite good such as mac & cheese, french toast, and home fries, but there's a few duds on the menu such as their disappointing and puzzlingly bright orange chili as well as their selection of beautiful looking but mediocre tasting desserts. I highly recommend stopping by here for a meal especially if you're a chicken tender aficionado, but go elsewhere for dessert. read more

I honestly wouldn't even give Empire Diner 1 Star. Over the years I noticed the decline of the establishment despite a few renovation attempts. Last night was the worse experience ever and is surely my last time dining there. To start it was freezing cold and I kindly asked them to turn it down so I could enjoy my food when it came. My husband saw our waitress biting her nails and cuticles. Next she was picking her nose. He begged me not to say anything but I was steaming. Prior to taking another table their food she was spotted pushing the trash down in the can and immediately grabbed their food to take it to their table without washing her hands. So basically she was passing around nail particles, boogies and trash juice. The booth seats were ripped and half cleaned. So now here comes the food. We ordered a cheesesteak and fries. As soon as I bit my sandwich I got an instant attitude the bun was old and chewy and all of my steak began falling out since the roll was completely broke through to the other side. That also let me know that the roll was old. I told my waitress I would pay for the fries but not the rubber cheesesteak. Not only that their menu it too big. I'm sure if they have all those items in their fridge a lot of it is old/outdated and probably would make you sick if you ate it. A restaurant with a HUGE menu is very scary. I will certainly be passing the word to my family to find another diner. read more

I have only eaten here a few times. One time my entree was ok, but the cake I slice I ordered for dessert was rancid. I mean sour and foul tasting. Probably old. The waitress indicated they could not just throw it away like that. I questioned about how many others have to get sick or eat it first and that there was nobody there who could make such a decision. So they replaced it with a milkshake, which was grossly watered down at that. Then a few days ago I ordered ribs. This is the hilarious part. The supposed barbecue sauce tasted like tomato paste that had be filled with salt. It was horrible. When I questioned a staff member they said "well they do not have barbecue sauce, that this was the chefs recipe" ??? She indicated that she also was aware it was ketchup or something with spices added. They can order a big bottle of barbecue sauce from a distributor or buy a bottle of the store brand from acme for petes sake. Just use REAL barbecue sauce. Unless you can make your own and do it competently or just buy it already made, it is not such a big deal. You are paying for ketchup or whatever so how much different could the cost be for barbecue sauce? The two things are like apples and oranges, you can not make one like the other that easily. AT LEAST buying the real thing would be barbecue sauce and also would be edible. How cheap do they have to be? On the other side of a coin, how does any cook not know that taking ketchup and adding salt does not fill the bill. Is that how good his taste abilities or cooking skills are? I have never experienced such a careless act in any restaurant never mind such a pathetic attempt at making something. Friends of mine had to laugh when I told them. Do I have to only set foot it there expecting to eat only the simplest things to avoid running into this kind of problem, or are they going to screw up a hamburger or eggs as well. read more

Just left empire and did not have a good experience for it being my first time there. My wife, daughter, son and I were placed all the way in the rear corner of the dinner at what looked to be the smallest table they could find. Which was also sort of tucked behind another table. It took the waitress 15 mins before she finally walked over to talk to us. Before hand I noticed her stop and look at out table several times. At one point my wife and I did not know who are server was because there 3 and no one said a word to us. She serves two tables that were seated after us then finally walked over. She never introduced herself. Just asked were we ready, which we weren't because we spent 15 mins sitting with the breakfast menus when we wanted lunch. So after another 10 min wait for the lunch menu we finally got to order. My wife the burger, myself the bacon cheese steak and grilled cheese for the kids. The food was actually really good, not what I was expecting after the service. If this was just based on the food alone I would give 4 stars but adding in the service just left a bad taste in my mouth. She wasn't very attentive and seemed overwhelmed. Today is my wife's birthday and we wanted to have celebration breakfast at empire, was not my better judgement. If I wanted food from here again it probably would only be for take out. The service was far from fantastic. read more

Myslf & Family eat here a lot - with the old management and the new, food is always filling with proper portions and price for a 24/7 diner. We enjoy the atmosphere, waitresses & have yet ran into a line.Ok here we go-The one time i ran into a problem was with a waitress who I ordered a "side order of chipped beef" on menu $3.95 the waitress asked me if i wanted homefries or french fries with my chipped beef, I told her I don't want home fries with chipped beef that would be 3 starches at once - for my side orders I'll take an order of bacon & corn beef hash. Her answer was ok but the price will be the same with the homefries - not to repeat myself, I gave in and said ok but bring me a container to put the home fries in," even though I dont want them" She brought the home fries and helped me put then in the container.. Dinner as usual was delicious hot & timely. On the bill was a charge for $6.95 for chipped beef - I could'nt find my waitress so another waitess a black female was very helpful when she saw I was upset, I told her about my chipped beef order price was doubled. She said Oh she carged you for the chipped beef meal, left and told this waitress of the problem. This waitress returned asking about " theres a problem with the check ?" I told her about her mixup-- This waitress asked me wheres is the homefries and by now the container was full with my familys left overs. This waitress took the filled container and dissapperd for about 5 minutes and came back and sat the container on the table and left. I opened the container and the homefries were gone. Now after watching - caught on camera - did she really think anyone would eat the leftovers ??? We were so pissed that we paid bill and left. I was told i should have informed the manager, MY BAD - thus this is why Im writing this book (LOL). I will go back its still a 4 star diner with excellent food & so are some of the waitresses. I still recommend it **** read more
