Go with the large size hoagie and split into between 2. Another option is the Stromboli. The Italian style ( lunchmeat) or the steak option are great choices. Again the large is great for 2 to 4 people. It comes with green peppers and onions and for a kick we add hot peppers. We order this every other month. I was born in SW Philly and grew up in East Lansdowne, have traveled the world and now live in Illinois; but I have never had a better Stromboli than those from the Colonial Kitchen. My parents have since moved to Bryn Mawr, but they (and I, when I come to visit) still drive to Colonial. (When we do even neighbors order Stromboli). Their cheesesteaks are amazing too...once my vegetarian brother went back to being an omnivore while we were eating them in his presence. I usually eat paleo but Colonial's crust and bread is worth going off the wagon! For those visiting the area I would totally recommend Colonial over Pat's Steaks or Gino's (what self respecting Philadelphian would eat Cheese-whiz on a cheesesteak?!). Colonial uses real cheese and offers a Choice (I prefer the provolone ) and tons of meat! Thank you Colonial for a truly delicious gastronomical experience. Colonial Kitchen has continued to not wear masks during the entire Coronavirus pandemic. The lady who is on the phone in my picture i provided told me "we don't care" when I suggested that masks should be worn, especially by the cooks. On a side note, the food is always cold when given to drivers from delivery services such as doordash. Customers also always complain about orders being wrong or missing multiple items at a time. This place does not care about their customers satisfaction, but instead how much money is piling into their pockets. Colonial Kitchen has been serving the community of Lansdowne/Upper Darby since 1975. It's not a huge place, but they do serve huge steaks. Last I lunched here, I ate so much meat I was literally SWEATING meat the next day. You can find hoagies, grinders, and other Italian dishes such as strombolis and pizza (baked fresh in-house daily). Colonial also cooks seafood, but I've never tried any. Prices are reasonable and the staff are super friendly. Worth a trip if you're in the area! read more
