Our private tour of the…read moreDead Horse Point Singletrack on April 11th was a massive disappointment, largely due to Rim Tours' misleading staff and lack of basic safety protocols. Before booking, I explicitly called their office to inquire about the trail's difficulty. Their representative adamantly assured me that this was an easy, beginner-friendly ride. That was completely false. The trail features rocky, technical terrain. When confronted about this later, management simply pointed to the "intermediate" label on their website, completely ignoring the blatant misrepresentation by their own sales team over the phone. To make matters worse, we were caught in a severe storm. While I understand a standard "rain or shine" policy, we were exposed to active thunder and lightning out on the trail. A competent outfitter would prioritize safety and pull their clients off an exposed plateau during a lightning storm. Instead, because we had to end the ride early to avoid being struck by lightning, Rim Tours hid behind their cancellation policy and refused to offer any kind of refund or credit, claiming the guide deemed it "appropriate to proceed." If you value honest communication and your own personal safety, do not book with Rim Tours. They will tell you whatever you want to hear to get your credit card, and once the tour starts, you are completely on your own.

Since it was…read moreour first time in Moab, we were hoping for a little guidance on both the bikes and which trails would be best for us. Unfortunately, the service we received felt very cold and unwelcoming. The staff answered our questions, but only with very minimal information, and it felt like I had to pry details out of them rather than receiving helpful guidance. There was no friendliness, no real enthusiasm, and no sense that they wanted to help first-time visitors have a good experience. The interaction came across as though they were only interested in completing the transaction. We spent about $350 to rent two bikes, and at that price I expected much better customer service. The bikes may have been fine, but the lack of helpful, friendly service left a disappointing impression.

On several levels: MANAGEMENT: The folks are easy to speak to, one-on-one and very responsive. They'll take care of any unique needs you might have. They just want to get it right. This is a very service-oriented team. GUIDES: every single one of the guides we've had has had some sort of "get 'er done" training. My goodness -- they wake up so early and hep with EVERYTHING: tents, food and cooking, bike repair, ideas for fun in town, and of course how to best ride! -- anything and everything. DA FOOD : OMG THE FOOD IS SO GOOD. This is gourmet eating, breakfast, lunch and dinner. And coffee and cold cereal available before the main hot breakfast, and appetizers before dinner! What the heck??? Oh, and there are endless snacks available. Don't bring any snacks! I thought with all the exercise I was going to get, I would lose weight! These guys won't let that happen with all the great food they throw at you... :) SPECIALITY REQUESTS: My family is vegan, and the guides go above and beyond to make sure that not only was there plenty of vegan options available, but to make sure that no one else ate the vegan food before my family finished it. They also were very good about not cross-contaminating -- a HUGE plus. SO, if you have ANY dietary or allergy restrictions, you feel totally safe. GREAT FOR FAMILY BONDING: They understand that some kids and adults are slower than others. They meet everyone at their level -- whatever that might be. My youngest one was a bit slower than the other kids on the trail, but he was the youngest in the group and never felt out of place and left behind. The guides were awesome with him. TRAILS, BIKING SKILLS, EXERCISE AND FUN: Your riding will improve massively on these trails, which are epic and beautiful. The guides choose the very best trails, and they are AWESOME. There are never ending other fun things to do (depending on the trip): hikes and tubing, or just goofing around in camp with kids' stuff and games and stories. You will be amazed how much exercise you will get and not even know it! The fun factor here is also great. really great. They are prepared for everything: sunscreen, snacks. took kits and repair stuff, lights -- everything. Will I do yet another Western Spirit trip next year? Yes, for sure. The challenge is which one? What started as a flat tire in our very city slicker Tesla turned into one of the most memorable…read moreexperiences my son and I have ever had. We were literally heading out of Moab when the tire forced us to turn back and kill some time in town. Driving down Main Street, we spotted the Twisted Jeeps sign, and something about it just felt right. Within minutes, it was obvious why the universe slowed us down. This was the detour we were meant to take. Not long after walking in, we were set up with a fully lifted Rubicon on monster tires and handed an itinerary that promised to show us Moab in a way most people never get to experience. Nick took care of us from start to finish. He was calm, knowledgeable, and genuinely kind. He went above and beyond to make sure we felt comfortable, confident, and safe before sending us off. The Jeep itself was unreal. There wasn't a single obstacle it couldn't handle. I played around a bit with four wheel drive, switching between high and low until it clicked, and once it did, we were unstoppable. We tackled trail after trail, climbed to the tops of mountains, and cruised past side-by sides, 4Runners, and Land Cruisers along the way. The capability of that Jeep was impressive, but what surprised me most was how comfortable the ride was the entire time. I get the appeal of side by sides. They're fast and exciting. But with a Twisted Jeep, you get the best of everything. Power, comfort, confidence, and the feeling that you can go anywhere without sacrificing the experience. Huge thanks to Nick for making it all happen. My son and I had an absolute blast, and this is a memory we'll be talking about for a long time. We'll definitely be back next time we're in Moab.

Jeff was a great guide and I had an awesome time. He's exactly the kind of guide you'd want for something like this - and he's done this trail more than 1,900 times! If you've wanted to do something like this but have been nervous, go ahead with Twisted Jeeps and you'll be in good hands! Make sure to tip your guide - they earn it!

Even though this was one of the busiest weeks of the year, we only had to wait a little for other off-road vehicles here and there. It was actually fun watching other rigs climb obstacles, so it never really felt like we were waiting. Robbie is the older brother, super funny, and my kids loved listening to his stories. Even my wife, who normally gets nervous with off-roading, felt very safe with him on Hell's Revenge. It is also absolutely worth paying extra for the Escalator. Not many people can make it up that hill, and Robbie made it look easy. These guys are the OGs of Moab. I have a semi off-road vehicle myself, and I know I would not be able to do 90% of what Robbie did today. He is an extremely skilled driver, and their jeep was built to handle just about anything. A lot of times it felt like we were about to fall off or crash, but that just shows how skilled and experienced Robbie is. Highly recommend. I will definitely be telling all my friends and coworkers about this.
