I first reached out to Redtail in April 2022 with various questions about getting a charter from Durango to Moab in October 2022. I was nervous about the idea of booking a charter, in part because I didn't want to get stranded in Durango and miss an important event we had planned in Moab. Amanda was so incredibly helpful in answering all of my questions when I first booked our flight in April and all of my questions over the next six months. Amanda immediately gave me confidence in flying with Redtail and she was helpful in pointing me towards options for rental cars. When the day of our flight came Barbara picked us up in Durango. Barbara was welcoming, friendly, entertaining and most importantly a safe pilot. She even helped us load our luggage in our car which I thought was very kind. While she safely navigated from DRO to CNY she gave us some recommendations for what to see and where to eat in Moab and she pointed out some sights too. We loved that she pointed our Corona Arch because we hiked up to that arch later that afternoon. We really enjoyed our flight with Barbara! In addition to doing charter flights, Redtail Air Adventures specializes in scenic tours over Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park. Redtail also does river shuttles such as dropping or picking up people who are going to hike, bike or raft somewhere in the wilderness and they need a one-way ride. We met up with some friends in Moab on our way back from Burning Man. Being there for one day, we…read morewanted to make the most of it. Our friends recommended we take a tour on a Unimog. We aren't really the "tour" kind of people, but the Unimog sounded fun. We called and made our reservation, and planned to meet our driver, John, at the Visitor's Center in the middle of town. This proved to be a great place to park. We met John and his very sweet dog, who rides along in the passenger seat. John loaded us up and told us he was taking us to Hell's Revenge. About five minutes after we left the Visitor's Center, we were climbing huge boulders. The Unimog is by far one of the coolest vehicles I've ever been off road in. John really knows how to use it too. John has over 30 years of offroad driving experience. He is a desert tracker, and is part of the Grand County Search & Rescue. He also loves to tell bad jokes and riddles. You will have fun on a tour with him. I'd recommend the sunset tour, because he keeps you out after the sun goes down, letting your eyes adjust to the darkening sky. Then,once it is dark, he drives back over all the boulders without turning the lights on. It's a beautiful ride and it's amazing what you can see, even without moonlight. During the tour we saw some Hummer tours and it was funny how the Hummers would take the easier route up. That Unimog can go anywhere!

We were gone close to 5 hours and enjoyed every minute of the excursion. John is not only an amazing driver, but great tour guide. He was funny, entertaining, and knowledgeable of the area. He is truly passionate about what he does it shows in the quality and joy of the tour. This was my first time in a Uni-Mog and it was awesome. I think this is the best off-road vehicle one can possibly have! Seriously, we crawled up and down steep slick rock like it was easy. All of the other people on the trail with other tours stopped to take our photos and marvel in this off-road thing of beauty. We had such a good time and felt safe. The prices are very reasonable and we will be back for sure!

I…read morehave never hired guides for anything before when travelling, and certainly didn't think I would hire any to hike with as I hike with some regularity back home. After spending every day the week before my trip listening to my dad practically have a coronary over the situation (he could stress over anything and basically still thinks that I am four), and my friends who all pretty much insisted I hire someone due to my incessant ability to get lost (I call this wandering and an adventure) and my somewhat questionable take on risk, at the last minute I decided to hire Hike Moab for most of my stay. This was hands down the best decision I could have made. As I had more than the average tourist's time to play in town, my only real requirement was that they show me something cool every single day - their pick, it just had to be cool. This is one of those very rare times when I wish Yelp had more than five stars, because Hike Moab delivered and then some. Both Micah and Paul were awesome. Paul is a thru-hiker with a serious amount of knowledge about hiking, backpacking, and wildflowers (and a ton of other stuff). If you spend any time with him I suggest picking his brain because he has a wealth of information in there. Micah appears to know every amazing spot in Moab and the surrounding areas, has a solid understanding of the area's history/geology and is a great source of local information, geared the hikes to both my ability and desired outcomes, worked with my scheduling needs, and is likely responsible for my incessant drive to get back to the desert as I think I may now love this area as much as he does. I've given some thought as to what types of people might be a good fit, and I've pretty much decided that anyone should hire Hike Moab if they are in town. I would absolutely trust them with my parents (in their 70's and 80's), my niece and nephew (8 and 6 and questionably behaved), and my friends who come from all walks of life. As for where to go, that really depends on you. If you only have half a day to spend in Arches, then maybe just have them hit the highlights for you. If I were to hire them for my parents, this is likely what I would choose. For my friends who hike, I still suggest hiring them for Tower Arch and Devils Garden - Tower is a little tricky to get to, and Devils Garden because it is a primitive trail that is a bit easy to get turned around on. I also suggest hiring them if you are going anywhere off the main beaten path in Canyonlands - ie you are getting out of your car for more than three miles. There are also endless amazing local Moab area hikes - I vote for taking a day Behind the Rocks - if I lived in Moab I'd be in those canyons at least once a weekend. Tips: Be honest about where you are at physically and what you want to do. I had foot surgery before this trip, and I get vertigo which is often set off by heights (yes I know going to Utah is questionable in this regard). I let Micah know both of these things when I hired them. He was great about making sure that hikes were geared to my physical limitations, and I think that letting them know upfront will help ensure that you have great hikes that suit your individual needs. Bring a bandana - even if you don't use it on your hike, you are likely to use it at least once in Moab, and I cannot overestimate how happy I was to have one. I'm coming back to Moab as soon as possible, and I will absolutely hire Hike Moab again.

We planned a fun trip to Moab to see the National Parks and wanted to make it affordable. We are…read morecampers and came across Up the Creek Campground on a web search. It was cheaper than getting a hotel in town and sounded more adventurous. We were sold on having a bathhouse with a shower and flush toilets. There is also a sink to do dishes in and outlets to charge your electrical devices. The nice thing is that the campground is right off the main road through town if you need to pick up anything or want to eat out instead of cooking your own food. Up the Creek Campground has 16 tent-only sites that are nestled within a grove of large shaded trees. If you want to cook your own food here at the campground, there are grilling stations. There are also patio games like Corn Hole near the community area. I was a little worried about noise because this place is a few blocks from the main road. But everything was surprisingly very peaceful for us. The best part about this place was being a short drive from both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. The only bummer during our time here was a major rainstorm that passed by one day. It rained hard for hours that day. Up the Creek Campground offers sensible weather coverage per day if it rains over 1.5 mm per hour for over 2 hours during daytime hours. I appreciated the refund for that day because we had to take shelter in our tent most of the day. Great place if you don't mind camping. You can walk up or book ahead of time.

The table that is Covered in Tree Ooze, that they can't seem to just move to eliminate the issue. Or maybe as they text me about the Propane issue; they will get to it tomorrow. Not a Happy Camper! Especially since I got charged for a night I wasn't there! At least there was a Shower? And the other Travelers! That's it!

From their place to the river, we did one of their raft tours, with 2 other couples we met there, and Josh, our guide. From beginning to end, Josh had a lot of information and history to share with us, and he made everything interesting and fun. He enjoyed answering questions, sharing his knowledge with us, and taking all the pictures we wanted. We even stopped for a quick hike on our tour (and those that didn't want to join were welcomed to stay on the raft). This was an amazing way to see a lot in a "short time" and learn.

I was searching on line and found Navtec. The river ride on the Colorado sounded like a great way to see the park. And it sure was, we nailed it. We arrived at their location downtown Moab a little while after checking into a hotel downtown. They offered to pick us up but it was a nice 10 minute walk to get to their office. It's a nice spot with plenty of last minute necessary's like sunscreen. Within minutes of rallying our group of 6 we were off to the launch point for the tour with our motorized blowup boat. We had a stop along the way at the great wall to see hieroglyphics. The boat ride was great, with information on spots and stories as well. Our guide Josh was excellent.
