Emily knew I loved one gown. It was discontinued and in the floor since 2020 (Covid). She wanted to see it to me for $300 less than the original $2500. It even had pulls on it. Buyer beware! I will NEVER shop here again. I love to support small, local businesses but sometimes I hesitate to shop small because of lacking customer service or unreasonable return policies. I experienced both of these of the issues at Emily's and I will never be back. I recommended Emily's to my aunt (I wish now I had not). She and I came looking for a dress for my cousin's wedding. It was a special order that the sales person ordered in a size 10. We received a receipt that showed she had paid a deposit. A few weeks later she gets a call that the dress was ready for pick up. The dress is NOT a 10, rather it is a 16. She will now have to pay for major alternations, not just a hem. Emily's refuses to admin their mistake, refuses to take the dress back, or even order the correct size, unless she pays for another. Absurd. We look at the receipt we received and CONVENIENTLY, the size is omitted! Also conveniently, Emily's does alterations for an extra cost. The receipt only shows we paid a deposit. I know my aunt ordered a 10, I heard it with my own ears, plus I know my aunt. I am very sad and disappointed in this store. They should have done the right thing. Emily's : BEWARE The owners of this store care about one thing .... And it's not their customers. As mother of the bride, I was excited to find my dress until I stepped foot in EMILY'S I ordered 2 " custom designer dresses " one of which came in and was completely different than the sample I had tried on in the store. "Emily" tried to tell me the dress was " FINE". The Designer later admitted to making the dress incorrectly. I didn't feel comfortable ordering from that particular designer again so ordered another custom designer dress. This dress came in way too small. I could not even SIT in the dress. They sent dress back to designer to be altered and the dress came back too large this time. ....AND had a ripped zipper. I have to replace the zipper on a dress I haven't even worn. It is now 4 weeks before my daughters wedding and my dress isn't ready. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR. SHOP ELSEWHERE. The owner is a money hungry, condescending narcissist. Worst experience ever. read more

Buyer Beware! Emily's tried to sell me an old floor sample as a CUSTOM made gown! I shopped at Emily's for a gown for my daughter's wedding, and I ordered a CUSTOM Stephen Yearick gown in March, 2021. When I went in for my first fitting in September, it was three weeks before the wedding, and the dress was a mess. It had a rip on the stomach, a hole on the hip and the material on the bottom was frayed. She actually told me that I must have ripped the dress when I put it on and that the fraying was just the material. I made an appointment for a second fitting, and I naively paid the balance. I left feeling bad about myself and the dress. Thankfully, my husband had taken pictures of me in the sample dress in March (something she said she doesn't allow - Now I know why). When I looked back at the pictures, it was the exact same dress with the rip, holes and fraying. I went into the store the next day. They kept trying to insist that it was a brand new gown. THE PICTURES DO NOT LIE. Eventually, Emily admitted it was the sample. She's trying to blame the designer saying that the designer came into her store during the summer for a Trunk Show and they took the sample dress back with them and then they sent it back to her in that condition as a new dress for me because they don't make that dress anymore. I find that story extremely hard to believe. Designers of that caliber take too much pride in their creations to do something like that. Regardless of who's at fault, I did not receive the $5,000 Custom Handmade gown I purchased from Emily's. At that point, it was three weeks before the wedding, and I had no dress. Added stress that I did not need or appreciate. They would not refund my money on the day I went into the store. It left me no choice but to put in a dispute with my credit card company. It took two weeks to get my $5,000 back. Do not shop here! If you do, TAKE PICTURES! (Side note: I got a better gown at the new Flagship store of Sareh Nouri in the Short Hills Mall - a true custom handmade gown, and they did it in less than three weeks!) read more

I really enjoyed my experience at Emily's. Yes, the clothes cost a lot, but no more than that which fills the shelves at peer boutiques like Ivory on New Dorp or even at department stores like Bloomingdale's and Nieman Marcus. You can't go to Peter Luger and complain about the prices -- you pay for higher quality goods. Dorene helped me in a way that reflected sincere interest. I needed a dress for an outing the night-of, and she got me my size in a few options. She definitely understood my style, and picked accordingly. I also appreciated that the tailor made herself available on the spot for alterations. I would come back for the evening gowns above all else. I took a look and the selection really stands out. Emily herself checked us out, and she seems wonderful. She proved very attentive, and excellent in customer service. My husband and I enjoyed meeting her. read more

I will not even give EMILYS Of Staten Island not even one star for what she did to me for my daughters wedding. I ordered a STEHEN YEARICK custom made designer gown. In May 2021. It was $4,600 I asked for receipt for my deposit Emily hesitated and said oh we don't give receipts? I said I needed a receipt. Emily's puts down gift certificate as my deposit? I gave you debit card for merchandise I was to get? Odd that she does that and she said oh don't worry? My contract was written by Emily and promised to me August 8, 2021. I have numerous emails and telephone calls from Emily and her rude daughter Samantha that my gown was coming in but late they gave me every excuse it's coming from overseas and the designer LEE PRICE from Stephen Yearick said it's coming in don't worry. The gown came in August 25 th and of course Emily's in closed sun mon Tuesday! One week before my daughters wedding the gown came in 2 different colors on top dark green and bottom silver grey. I took photos of the gown I ordered this was not the gown it was not the same color? I brought it to 2 different tailors who attested to the fact this gown was made wrong! And Emily's measured me too big on top and Emily's would not alter the gown? I was horrified that I did not see these reviews. I drove all the way from New Jersey to Emily's. In Staten Island. 5 days before my daughters wedding Emily would not fix the gown! Nor would the designer? Stephen Yearick. Stay away from EMILYS Staten Island. She's nice Until she takes your money? They should not be in business. Emily's should not be selling designer gowns for weddings as she lies and gives you False contracts and treats customers poorly. NEVER SHOP THIS PLACE. Emily's lies to you and is not customer client satisfaction. Other bridal places Would never do this to customers. My daughter and I had a lovely experience at Emily's while prom dress shopping. She needed two dresses due to her boy friend attending a different school. It was upscale, fun, relaxed, yet no nonsense. Darlene Is a great communicator. She was so attentive and asked all the right questions, that she knew exactly what my daughter wanted, and needed. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM HERE. My cousin just bought a $900 dress she was planning on wearing to prom from there and also got it altered for another $300 more from there. On the day she went in to get it sized for the alterations she told them it was a bit too tight and they said "no it's fine it needs to hold you in place" well comes the day of her prom yesterday she put on the dress and the whole back rips right as she was greeted by her date. We called Emily's up and they told us it was our problem and they have nothing to do with it. THEY DID THE ALTERATIONS, and they ruined the dress. They clearly don't know how to size people.
