Nice selection of dresses. Salesgirl was sweet and very helpful. Management and Rules unreasonable. I will not be returning. read more

Just purchased a Terani evening gown from Effies. Extremely pleased with the selection and the service. Inna was exceptional. I also purchased earrings there. The two issues I did have were that while I was trying on gowns, an older man was walking around the store. I was told he was the owner. I had to be more careful than if the store just had women in it. I also didn't like that the door did not have a buzzer system. A disheveled looking women walked in off the street looking for a lawyers office. A little more security would deter undesirables from walking in and out while women are trying on gowns. All in all, I am very pleased with my purchase. read more

This boutique has by far been the friendliest and most professional experience we've had during our prom dress shopping! Their customer service was impeccable, and I honestly wish I had found them sooner for all our past formal events. Ashley was amazing--her input and customer service were incredibly helpful. She gave great advice on exactly what we were looking for in a dress. Although my daughter ended up choosing a different dress that she absolutely fell in love with, I would still highly recommend this boutique for all your formal needs. 10/10! read more

We made an appointment for myself, my sister and my mom. Ashley was very helpful. once she understood what style of dresses we were looking for, she was able to get many great options. we ended up buying 4 dresses! prices are not cheap, but we know that the quality if the dresses is worth it. We were very pleased with the service, and they definitely have a wide selections of dresses for all ages, sizes and occasions. read more

Dress is stunning and they had a very nice selection of other dresses. But this was a clear winner. Thanks again for all their help. We came from Long Island and it was def worth it!!! read more

If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I walked in at 6:45pm just to see some dresses. I didn't even ask for assistance because I was literally just looking. There was another girl there trying on a dress with two other people. The young store employee walks by me, I said hi and she tells me "we're closing now" I asked "so I can't look?" & she said "no were cleaning up" Mind you the store closes at 7pm. That was by far the most unprofessional and nastiest approach from a store employee I have ever experienced. I don't care if I came across the dress of my dreams just on that approach alone I would never even purchase a piece of candy from them. Fuck them! read more

Ay this spot is a very unpleasant experience. My wife went there to buy a dress and just because of her religion they disrespected her and her religion and beliefs. This is America not Russia or North Korea. They rushed her, didn't give her what she was looking for and just slandered her snd her beliefs. Pure discrimination. Never will we ever go back over there and if your Muslim I would think twice before going here. There should be no discrimination if we are there to spend money and buy your products, but I guess these people think they are in Russia or something. Not all staff were bad there was one of them that was respectful and great, but two of them were just unbelievable. read more

Bought an $800 dress. Beads coming off, I messaged immediately, no response. Asked about returning it, and buying 2 more dresses. Nope, they don't care. Apparently they don't need the business! Shop somewhere else! read more

After years of loyalty--NEVER AGAIN My mother came here for a mother of the bride dress, and the sales lady was BEYOND rude. My mother isn't flashy so the lady assumed she didn't have a lot of money, meanwhile her budget was $3,000. She made my mother go through a rack jam packed with dresses, and chastised my mom who asked for help when she couldn't pull dresses out to see (my mom has carpal tunnel syndrome so she can't grab and pull things easily). She then INSISTED that my mother try a dress "perfect for her" in a size 7- my mom is a 12/14. My mother eventually gave in to trying it on since the woman was so insistent and when it clearly wouldn't fit my mom she ask my mother why she wasted her time trying a dress on that she wasn't going to buy!! My mother left so upset, being mocked and fat shamed by the sales associate here who clearly treated her like this thinking she didn't have any money. The worst part is my family been going here for years for formal event attire, and now not a single member of my family will step foot in there again. read more

Love this store ! They have so many options from something sleek and simple to something more fancy and interesting. The service is amazing. Everyone is so nice and friendly. A lady named Sarah helped me she was so calm and nice, helped me find exactly what I was looking for. Got in looking for one dress and left with two. Will definitely be going back for my next events read more

I came to Effie's boutique based off a recommendation from a friend at work. I'm so happy I did! I had visited a prior boutique first, not going to name no names (coughs) Nile boutique lol poor costumer service, please don't go there! However as soon as I walked into Effie's we were greeted and was helped by the amazing Pina I believe her name was. My mother in law and I were looking for dresses to attend a wedding in two weeks and Pina helped my mother in law find the most beautiful dress and assisted her into the dress as well. Thank you to the lovely staff at Effie's, you now have two great long costumers. I'll definitely be coming back. Xoxo Diana read more

I was very disappointed with the service!! first of I don't know if that day when we went it just so happens that the employees were over worked or something because the girl we got to help us her attitude was just blah she was not helpful in helping us find the right prom dress for my daughter she had an attitude that didn't make you want to by anything. In that kind of business, you have to have an attitude where you make the customer feel like yes this is the dress for you. And more helpful or more accommodating but she absolutely was not. They had more customers than workers to help them, and we had an appointment. Also my daughter is very small she is a size 00 or 0 and some of the dresses to give us to Tryon was not a zero or size 0 and you think that the worker would try to look for what we want She just wasn't helpful at all we left it was nothing. They didn't even say when we were leaving. Oh sorry we couldn't help you find the dress you wanted is this something we could've done. Absolutely nothing was said when we were leaving. my recommendation is this place sucks read more

DONT BUY FROM THIS STORE. My daughter went to Effies to buy a prom dress for this June 2019. She specifically asked if anyone from her school (Wagner) had purchased this dress and they said no. Effies claims they put it on their website so other students and Effies can show no one else had it. She bought the dress and then weeks later 2 girls bought the same dress They asked if anyone else had it and they said no. So dont trust them. Dont buy from them. read more

First off I need to say I have never been to a store that was so unprofessional as this one. As soon as I walked in I felt the cold shoulders and the stares, probably because I just came from the gym and had my sweats on, hair a mess and I was not wearing any designer fancy clothes with all of my diamonds on. They will not even want to help you if you do not look like you have tons of money. Sales girl was rude and had no customer service experience and should have been trained properly before she should have been allowed to even speak to a customer. Everything about this store is less than par. The dresses were a mess you can't even find anything and forget about getting any help they are sooooo rude. I would never recommend anyone going to this store. Save your time and spend your money elsewhere. read more

It pains me to give this place even the one star necessary to proceed. After a civilized attempt at resolving a situation involving unscrupulous business practices, I received a response from this establishment packed with lies and defamatory allegations. This has now become a matter for Small Claims Court. It is important that we stand up for ourselves as consumers. Call me crazy but when one receives a "custom order" that will "fit perfectly" you expect it to FIT! Instead of acknowledging a mistake was made and making an attempt to rectify the situation these people have resorted to cyber bullying. I recommend to anyone who has had a similar experience with these people that they contact the Better Business Bureau of New York. Maybe they will see the error in their ways and decide to treat their customers with a tad more decency. Everything you need to know about this place is right here in their own words. They are sorry I feel the way I do for what they did to my daughter, not for what they actually did to her. Shop at your own risk is the message they are sending. Utilizing the avenues, such as the BBB and DCA, put in place to protect consumers from unethical businesses is considered pestering. The 29 reviews removed are the ones Effie's employees wrote for themselves to bolster their rating. As for the lies David Z. has included, I won't waste my time addressing garbage that people can see right through. read more

I would give them 0 stars if I could. My friend and I both went in with the intention of buying a dress for prom. The very rude lady who may have been the manager kept trying to get us to leave telling us try ons were only on the week days as if me and my friend did not have the means to buy a dress there. Never go there!!!! Awful customer servicce, very judgy workers, and awful overall. Even when we told her we had the intention of buying a dress today as both of us had our wallets with us she still refused to provide us with service and no one approached us in the store. DO NOT COME HERE you'll get ripped off and treated poorly. Go to a more official prom dress shop read more

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE !! Super inconvenient the lady working there was so rude with the comments she was making !!! The brunette there wasn't bad like the other 2 female workers! the other two kept making remarks that we can't afford to buy anything there. She kept making remarks on what to wear and not to as if she knows my life and religion. THEY ARE NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY AND HONESTLY. Don't waste a penny here read more

I'm Shopping for a gown for my sons wedding. I was referred to Effie's.. I had an appointment for 4:30. I had a large window after another appointment so I called and asked if it was possible to come in a little earlier, as I don't live in Brooklyn.. I was told they were too busy. Definitely Understandable. When I arrived the store was empty.. The staff was not welcoming at all. In fact they were outright rude. I was asked what I was interested in. I explained what I liked but I wasn't totally sure and the salesperson told me they don't carry the designers I was looking for.. (My ideas were higher end) You would think I'd be shown some designs with the same idea. Instead I was told to look through the hundreds of dresses. If you know the store, its impossible to see the dresses through the bags. She didn't even show me a to a section or even 1 dress. There are hundreds of dresses very tightly hung. They didn't seem to want to be bothered. Waste of my time .. Awful experience!!! read more

I had my first experience at Effie's today and unfortunately it will be my only experience there. I called the boutique yesterday with a list of style numbers, the guy I spoke with told me they had 2 out of the 6 I gave him and while he was speaking to me I heard a person in the background gruffly say they had 2000 dresses in stock. I decided I should go to the store to check out this inventory. We've been searching for the perfect bridal party dresses for a little while and I figured with 2000 dresses, surely I could find the dresses here. I got there and the saleswoman greeted me, asked if I needed assistance and we went from there. I immediately pointed to a dress I had called about. She asked if that would work for a bridesmaids dress considering the price. I said yes, that's our budget. I showed her a few dresses from pinterest and she picked out a bunch for me to try on. First dress, I take out my phone so she can take a picture that I can send to my Mother and sister (the bride). She tells me NO PICTURES ALLOWED. I was shopping alone and not being able to take pictures definitely made things a little difficult. The dresses were great but none were THE dress and I hadn't tried on anything I had gone to the store to see. I got dressed and browsed the rest of the store and picked out the dresses that fit what we were looking for. An older saleswoman began rushing me and instructed me to start trying on dresses. Um, ok. Not sure why she was rushing me but I obliged, certain one of these dresses would be the one. I tried on the first dress and walked out, she said I know you are looking for dresses for a bridal party but there is a limit on the number of dresses you can try on. REALLY?!! She says pick which one of these you want to try on because it is your last one. Yep. Just like that, I was dressed and out of the store. I had no desire to continue shopping at a place that could be so rude and disrespectful. Oh and there were a total of 4 other customers in the store the entire time I was there. The limit on dresses seemed like a new policy that only seemed to apply to me. So me and my $5000 dress budget walked out of the door never to step foot in Effie's Boutique again. The owner may not care that he lost me as a customer, nor may he care that he and the older saleswoman were incredibly rude but hopefully potential customers do care and don't bother shopping at Effie's Boutique. read more

I have been buying dresses here over a decade. I've purchased styles ranging from prom to wedding and even a birthday which was more casual yet still dressy. I was never able to purchase anything from this store but I warn younger/short shoppers that they are plain rude. They probably mistook me for a 12-year-old play dress up because if they didn't their attitude needs to change. I walked into the store going to buy a dress for a military ball and I was flat out asked to leave. I don't argue but for me, it was embarrassing to be asked to leave when shopping with my friend from out of town. I didn't do anything except coming into the store look (not try on) at one dress and this happened just so you don't think I was being loud or obnoxious then I would be entirly in the wrong. read more

Wow im surprised this has 2.5 stars... this is really an amazing place. From walking in to walking out i was treated with the most respect. They listened to everything I had to say when it came to style, color, etc. I bought many dresses from them not just one and all were amazing. DO NOT GO HERE! I came in for a prom dress and the lady said I could not try anything on because if I ripped the dress I had to buy it. The when asked for my size the woman rolled her eyes at me, it made me feel very hurt and ashamed. The final straw was when I told the woman my budget was $400 and she said, " you can't afford this store then." Excuse me if i don't want to spend $800 on a dress I am only going to wear one night, this is very insensitive to say to a possible buyer. This is not how a customer or a person should be treated! It is rude and disgusting, if you have a bad attitude don't go into retail. I am truly disgusted by this place and I was treated poorly from the moment I walked in. Please, take your money elsewhere. Go to a store where they are HAPPY to help you find what you need. You are a customer and should be treated with respect. read more

Rude and unprofessional staff! Rushed my daughter out (despite having an appointment) because they said she was taking too long. My daughter and I went to Effie's Boutique while on a weekend away in NYC just before Christmas. We were shopping for a prom dress and are we ever glad we found Effies at random on-line! We were the only customer's in the store at the time and had top notch service from both of the sales staff there. My daughter was treated like a princess during the entire experience and when they found out we were Canadian, offered to ship the dress to our home for no extra charge! The complimentary earrings we were given were the icing on the cake for a truly great prom shopping experience. Despite the review noted below about pictures, we were allowed to take a picture of the dress we selected to show the rest of the family at home, although it was on the hanger and not on my daughter at the time. I completely understand the policy, these are designer dresses and should not be duplicated! Once we left the store, they stayed in contact by both phone and email and the dress arrived at our home yesterday in perfect condition, just like they promised! The only drawback on the whole experience is that we went way over budget for the dress, but the experience for my graduating 17 year old was truly priceless! Thanks Effie's team,,, From 2 Canadian fans! read more
