Worst Mojito ever. Why is it yellow???
    Yara C.

The experience is decent at Emilia's Havana. The decor is really something, no wonder it became so popular on social media. Seemingly everyone saw that infamous TikTok and flocked to Emilia's. Now that the craze has toned down, I was finally able to grab a reservation for cocktails, light bites and dancing. The service is quite good. You get individualized attention so you're not left waiting for another drink. Be sure not to double-tip as they auto-grat each check at OVER 20%! Everything else was very disappointing. There is nothing Cuban about Emilia's Havana. The band played exactly one Cuban song, the stereotypical Buena Vista Social Club. All other music was a selection of well-known pan-latin classics, which, don't get me wrong, were really well done. It was fun to dance to the live salsa and bachata mix. The band is quite good. The patrons were, at least the night I was there, a bit boring. People seemed more interested in creating social media content showing they were at Emilia's Havana rather than actually engaging with the live music. This is not the restaurant's fault, but it is a ding on the ambiance. The drinks were really terrible. All cocktails are $25! And this "Cuban" Restaurant had the worst Mojito I've ever tasted. I asked for a classic Mojito (just mint and lime). They did not bother muddling the mint, the most important part of a Mojito! It tasted like a cheap mixer added to some rum and Sprite. For some reason it was yellow, not clear. We tried other cocktails off their list, none were good, and certainly not worth that price. For $25 I'm really expecting something expertly crafted. But here, it is clearly taking advantage of the TikTok fame to over-price a bad product. The light bites also had no Cuban food on it, just Tex-Mex appetizers which I can get anywhere in Houston. I'm not impressed that such an elevated brand couldn't do their research to understand that all Latinos are not the same - Caribbeans don't typically eat Tex-Mex food. I tried the lobster empanadas, the closest thing on the menu to something Caribbean. They were priced like lobster, but too bland to enjoy. Finally, though the live band and ambiance suggests a place to dance and party, the dance floor is constrained by a very random fountain in the center of the room, which keeps you from moving around if there are maybe two other couples dancing. Apart from the decor, which again, is stunning, this bit was not a good idea. In all, I would not return or even recommend this spot. You can get what you need by watching the TikTok reel. It's not worth the $25 cover and $25 drinks. The website does a good job to warn you at the cost - the entertainment fee at booking, the drink minimum, and the automatic gratuity really add up to an expensive time.

Listen to me - a time was had at Emilia's! This was my night to choose date night activities and I found Emilia's on tik tok. There were sooo many mixed reviews which were mostly bad, but I couldn't resist giving it a try. From the moment we arrived at the host desk in Annie's, it was an experience. We were escorted through the kitchen area and then into a very unforgettable entrance of the speakeasy. At this point, we were completely blown away. I absolutely loved the Cuban ambiance and it felt very romantic. It a very intimate space, which made the experience feel more VIP. 4 different waiters greeted us and walked us through the menu and made us feel very special. On to food and drinks: We ordered the empanadas and tostadas and 1 mojito. Empanadas $24 - 10/10 Tostadas $38 - 7/10 (extremely overpriced) Mojito $25 - 8/10 The options are overpriced and I would suggest pregaming with food and drinks somewhere else before. Entertainment: The live band gave us an amazing experience EACH song. The music was such an authentic vibe and they even included crowd participation throughout the night. Soooo unforgettable! Few things to point out: - Make reservations - Entry is prepaid at $25 pp (not applied to bill) - Auto gratuity of 21% and restaurant ops fee 3% - Complimentary valet at Annie's If you're on the fence, it's time to hop over and enjoy this amazing experience! We have added it to our repeat list!

The food and drinks were great--well-crafted cocktails and a tasty appetizer to start the evening. We ordered two drinks, one appetizer, and paid a cover charge, totaling around $150. Was it worth it? As a one-time experience, yes. It's definitely a place for a special occasion. The service was excellent, and the setting was swanky and intimate--perfect for a classy night out.

Came here on a Weds evening during the holiday season. You sit at the Annie Cafe bar until someone brings you back. The walk through the kitchen was neat, but a little bit too lengthy. We loved the secret door entry and the beautifully decorated festive hallway leading up to Emilia's Havana. The band doesn't play on Weds, so the cover is less ($25). This cover includes one drink, but there were only 4 drinks that were covered and they were $20 each. I got the Clausmopolitan and my friend the Dubai chocolate martini. I loved the presentation of both, and both drinks were solid. The service was excellent. They have food options as well - looks like huge overlap with Turners and Annies menus. The biggest gripe is the cover charge only applying towards 4 drinks that were less than the cover value. Perhaps if I came on a band night and it was $50, I would feel differently because of the entertainment. Of note, gratuity is 22% and auto-included.

This was such an amazing speakeasy that is hidden! It's behind a door as you go through the kitchen of the Annie. It super neat inside and they do have live music! They gave us a tour which was really neat. I can't wait to go back!

Omgeeee this place truly transported me to a Latin sanctuary! Originally we had rereservations at Annie & as we were waiting to be seated another staff member suggested we check out Emilia's Havana. Puzzled like a game of clue, we had no idea this hidden gem existed! Anywho, we decided to be adventurous & follow blindly through the kitchen! At this moment I was praying Hannibal Lector wasn't the chef lol. After safely bypassing all knives and pots we were transported into a whole new woooorld! The ambience changed from bougie restaurant to an intimate cuban restaurant bar. It's such a sexy & fun vibe. The waitresses were beautiful & very accommodating. They have their own special menu, however you can also order from the Annie menu as well. The band was giving Cuba! They kept the energy going by selecting guests to join in & teaching some dance moves. This place is such a fun vibe. It's for sure a special occasion night, date night, girls night, just because you want to do something different night kinda spot! This speakeasy is #BarbieApproved

So this is the Havana inspired speakeasy above the Turner restaurant with a back entrance through the kitchen, the Moscow mules and live singers were great, we danced the salsa all night and ended with a conga line that brought all of the guests to their feet! Loved this place

Great date night and dancing. Note: it was $25 a head to cover the musicians. Then there is valet at $5 a piece and then the food, which was great. Drinks start at $20 per cocktail. The food was good. But was it that level good? For $350, we would have had a lot more somewhere else. But I leave that for you to decide. Good food. Descent service. Was it next level?

So far the best speakeasy i been too. It was my first time in Houston & I'm so happy i gave this place a try. The food is amazing! I would highly recommend the fish if you're into seafood. The drinks were great as well. Also the people are so friendly & welcoming. Everything was perfect in my opinion. I will say it is pricey but honestly it's worth it.

OMG, the service here is amazing! I can't say anything about the food yet, sadly the kitchen closed early. Guess I'll have to come back another time to try the menu. Maybe next time I'll come earlier. Anyone else experience this? #foodie #hungry Oh before I for the atmosphere is a small speaker easy vibe

$280 for 5 drinks plus a ceviche, not including the $25 cover per person. The cover is totally understandable but we were floored when we got our check. Equated to $40 drinks which unheard of ANYWHERE, not even in New York City. Great experience but not worth it. Biggest red flag was that there weren't any prices on the drink menu. Just bring your sugar daddy, as several others did, and you'll be fine.

A Hidden Gem in Houston - An Unforgettable Evening at Emilia's Havana! My wife, our two daughters, and I had the most incredible dining experience at Emilia's Havana, the luxurious speakeasy tucked inside The Annie Café & Bar in Houston. From start to finish, the evening was filled with elegance, excitement, and exceptional service. Our night began with prompt valet service and a warm greeting from the host at The Annie Café & Bar. He escorted us through the restaurant -- and even through the kitchen -- to what appeared to be a wall of shelves that magically opened to reveal a hidden door. Once inside, we were instantly transported into a plush, opulent lounge filled with energy and the sounds of a live band performing classic Spanish melodies. The atmosphere was lively yet refined -- the perfect blend of Havana glamour and Houston sophistication. Our waitress, Victoria, was fantastic. She was attentive, personable, and offered wonderful menu recommendations for our family. For starters, we shared the wood-grilled octopus and half-dozen oysters on the half shell -- both were beautifully presented and full of flavor. Our drink selections were equally impressive. I enjoyed two glasses of Bruliam Sangiacomo Pinot, while the rest of the family sampled a Charles Debourges Sancerre, a Daisy de Santiago, and a Cosmobelle -- all perfectly crafted. For our main course, we each ordered the 12 oz bone-in filet mignon, cooked to a perfect medium-rare. My vegan daughter, Gabrielle, was delighted that the restaurant had delicious options she could enjoy -- a thoughtful touch that made her night. Our shareable sides -- brussels sprouts, lobster mac & cheese, and velvety potato purée -- complemented everything perfectly. Throughout the evening, the live band kept the crowd smiling and even invited guests to join in on a lively Cuban cha-cha! The laughter, music, and joy on my family's faces made the experience truly priceless. While guests should note the 3% restaurant operations fee and 22% service fee, every moment of the evening -- from the impeccable food to the vibrant entertainment -- was worth every dime. We left with full hearts and full stomachs, already planning our return. Emilia's Havana is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy an elegant, lively, and unforgettable night out in Houston.

Came here a couple of weeks ago for a birthday celebration. I didn't know it was more of a speak easy so I was surprised when they took us through the kitchen to get in. The live music was great, the servers were very nice and attentive, the drinks were good, and the vibes were there. At some point the music group had us in a conga line and afterwards everyone was just dancing. Definitely worth the visit.

Drink at Annie's bar before the show.

I also ordered their strawberry lemonade, which had a thicker consistency for juice. It was refreshing and had just the right amount of sweetness and tartness. Their drinks are solid. I tried the Cuban sandwich, which was okay in my opinion. As I dove right into it, the pork flavor was interesting & every few pieces of the outer meat were a tad bit hard. When I ate it later for dinner though, the sandwich tasted so much better for some reason. Lol maybe cuz everything was marinating and softening idk. It's good, but I wouldn't order this sandwich again. I prefer chicken. I tried some of my dad's fricasa de cerdo. Loved it! Reminded me of a stew, but I would not drink the whole bowl because it is on the saltier side. It was served extra hot, and the chicken was tender. For the sides, my dad got the fried ripe plantains (sweet and soft) and the fried yucca sticks (tastes like potatoes - crispy on the outside), which paired nicely with a garlic sauce. Service was great! They are very warm and kind to their customers. I highlyyyy recommend this place to anyone looking for good Cuban cuisine. It's never too busy or loud when we go. Plenty of parking!
