5 years ago, I bought a Navien combi heater unit from them and in those 5 years, I've had them come…read morein 4 times to service the unit. On 3 of those times, they were extremely inefficient and wasted a great deal of time by doing the following: - calling their manager to get instructions on how the unit worked - bringing an instruction manual and spending several hours reading it ( later we found out that this person was a trainee and was learning on the spot ) - during the lengthy maintenance service, we'd peak in on them and noticed they were just sitting there staring blankly at the unit for over 15 minutes!! Like he was praying to the Navien gods or something!! Basically, we got the impression that they would take an inordinate amount of time servicing the unit in order to charge us an excessive amount for an anual maintanence. Each time they visited us, the service cost was around $500. On one occasion they had to do a special descaling process on the unit and that costed $650. We were really suspicious of why a 5 year old unit would require such costly maintenance ( our prior unit was 30 years old and only required servicing 3 times in that time span ), so we called around to other companies in the area and got a quote from them and none of them were quoting us anywhere near the amount the Good Gooys were. Just be very careful when they send over a "specialist" to take a look at your unit. They may be sending you an intern and even when they do send an experienced repairman, they seem to have a minimum service time that they'll spend looking at your unit regardless of the condition the unit is in. Don't be surprised if they charge you $500 to wipe some oil stains off your unit and quote you for 6 hours of work. EDIT: I just added proof that I did in fact purchase a system from The Good Guys as well as an invoice for one of their visits.

On install day, they told us we couldn't install in one of the rooms because the window was too high to the ceiling and there wouldn't be enough clearance. It was disappointing because we really needed air conditioning in that one room. The install took an entire day. The guys are friendly and professional. I referred a friend and they told my friend I would get a referral bonus but never ended up getting anything so that was disappointing. But I would use these guys again because they sell Mitsubishi air conditioners and do a good job.

I had one major company tell me that they could come in 4 weeks and another not return calls after a promise to do so and a follow up call. Paul from Red Seal had an electrician on site the next day who diagnosed and repaired the problem, and completed the new light fixture installation. I got a call in the morning, as promised, to schedule a time. The electrician was going to be about 10 minutes late and he called ahead to let me know - that is unusually great service in my book. He was very polite and respectful. Paul called me immediately after the electrician left, took my Visa card for payment, and promised that a receipt would be emailed to me on Monday (the work was done on a Friday) and it was, as promised. 1.5 hour minimum charge. The only thing that was not perfect was that the electrician did not have a dimmer to replace the dimmer, but had to replace it with a simple switch. All-in-all, a very good experience with a professional company.

Norman was unprofessional, treated us like we were an inconvenience, and refused to provide us with a copy of the invoice. This wasn't Norman having a "bad day", because he attended our home on 3 different occasions and treated us poorly each time. We did speak to the owner of the business, Myles, who ended up providing us with an invoice and apologized for Norman's behaviour. Unfortunately, Norman left a bad taste in our mouths and we will be taking our business elsewhere for any future services.

I called ten places, some of which only answered with hello and didn't even say their business name, or were rude without any suggestions whom I could call or simply didn't sound competent. Thomas from this company was professional, kind, took the time to help me and even explained where to look and get the help I needed, so even though he wasn't the right business he was kind enough to help point me to the right direction. Just because of that service I'm saving his info to call him again when I have a heating or cooling issue.
