5 years ago, I bought a Navien combi heater unit from them and in those 5 years, I've had them come in 4 times to service the unit. On 3 of those times, they were extremely inefficient and wasted a great deal of time by doing the following: - calling their manager to get instructions on how the unit worked - bringing an instruction manual and spending several hours reading it ( later we found out that this person was a trainee and was learning on the spot ) - during the lengthy maintenance service, we'd peak in on them and noticed they were just sitting there staring blankly at the unit for over 15 minutes!! Like he was praying to the Navien gods or something!! Basically, we got the impression that they would take an inordinate amount of time servicing the unit in order to charge us an excessive amount for an anual maintanence. Each time they visited us, the service cost was around $500. On one occasion they had to do a special descaling process on the unit and that costed $650. We were really suspicious of why a 5 year old unit would require such costly maintenance ( our prior unit was 30 years old and only required servicing 3 times in that time span ), so we called around to other companies in the area and got a quote from them and none of them were quoting us anywhere near the amount the Good Gooys were. Just be very careful when they send over a "specialist" to take a look at your unit. They may be sending you an intern and even when they do send an experienced repairman, they seem to have a minimum service time that they'll spend looking at your unit regardless of the condition the unit is in. Don't be surprised if they charge you $500 to wipe some oil stains off your unit and quote you for 6 hours of work. EDIT: I just added proof that I did in fact purchase a system from The Good Guys as well as an invoice for one of their visits. read more

We got our air conditioning installed by these guys. The owner came and gave us a quote. We were going to install air conditioning in 3 rooms. On install day, they told us we couldn't install in one of the rooms because the window was too high to the ceiling and there wouldn't be enough clearance. It was disappointing because we really needed air conditioning in that one room. The install took an entire day. The guys are friendly and professional. I referred a friend and they told my friend I would get a referral bonus but never ended up getting anything so that was disappointing. But I would use these guys again because they sell Mitsubishi air conditioners and do a good job. read more

Do not enter into a monthly contract with this company. I've tried twice now to close the account and stop the automatic billings after moving out of the house. And now I find another charge on my credit card.... So frustrating. read more

My service call was for my heat pump - I wanted to install a sound blanket I had bought online and asked for a quote on the cost to install it. I talked to Good Guys and they said the person I needed to speak to was in a meeting and they would call me back. They called me back promptly and gave me a price that I thought was fair, so I decided to dispatch their technician. I then asked them if they could give me advise of other things I could do to keep the noise down and they said their technician, Wes would come with some ideas. Well, Wes was excellent. Extremely courteous and helpful and went above and beyond what I asked him to do. After months of research and two HVAC technicians, he gave me the smartest advice I've had. I've very, very happy and would recommend Wes and Good Guys to my friends. read more

The furnace installation went well, but clean up could have been better. Furnace works great to date, but the thermostat is super cheap. I asked for details of the thermostat in advance and never got it. Considering I paid $400 extra for it, I was disappointed to find I could get it off the shelf for a fraction of that price. Customer service when I called in to check up on the status of my Fortis rebate ( 6 weeks after the install ) consisted of a very rude lady who did not understand why I would ask for a copy of my Fortis rebate application. She keep saying....what do mean by a copy...what do you mean....? Nothing resolved...still waiting for someone else to call me back to confirm if rebate application has been submitted. Considering it was $750 or 10 % of the cost of my furnace...I think I am entitled to ask a question or two. A good experience has become tainted with bad customer service. Oddly I hired Good Guys over others because they guaranteed great customer service and satisfaction. Time will tell if I was wrong. read more

It takes a few tries, sometimes, to find a company you can count on. Good Guys will be my go-to from now on. After another company advised me the furnace wasn't worth fixing and quoted $5800 to replace, this company advised me I had a good quality furnace with lots of life in it. They fixed it quickly as I'd been without heat all week. Good customer service. And a great outcome. read more

They promised alot, but when they didnt even show up, they told me it wasnt their fault. Called me at 5pm to confirm an 8 am appointment the next morning. 9am i called them, and they told me "sorry, maby tomorrow at noon?" I was upset, and the receptionist asked " is your hot water tank leaking BADLY!?!" Promised to call back. Did not. Next day, 5pm, I called them. Response? "i know i promised to call you, but i still don't know when we can come out." 32 hours late, plumber shows up. The tank doesn't fit, even though i gave the dimensions, make and model#. Again "not thier fault". Their solution? $800 plus tax to replace a hot water tank UNDER WARRANTY! This is what they said 80 hours after i first called them and they said it would be done in 44 hours. So, 44hrs and $450, all in. 80 hrs later, new estimate is $800, still can't say when. read more

We had a furnace problem and I called the local Good Guys office in the afternoon. They were able to send a technician out the following morning at 9:00 am to repair our furnace which was failing on an intermittent basis. Wes arrived on time, was professional, friendly and knew his stuff. He completed the repair in good time at a fair cost. My heater was only working intermittently and they came when they were schedule and even called ahead so I could leave work and meet them rather than have me waiting around all afternoon. We are part of the membership program so they were able to do our cleaning and replace the part that had gone defective all on the same visit. It was also good to see the training process happening with an apprentice. thanks read more

Terrible service. Book appointment and did not show up on the time promised. When I called, receptionist extremely rude and did not apologize. If a company's face and workers are not up to standards, then how is the job of installing equipment going to be up to standards. Will never order service from them, and I advise all stay away! read more

Well the Good Guys were Great Guys again. My thermostat went on the fritz, so it was time to give the Good Guys a call. It was also time for my yearly service check on the furnace and heat pump. Wes was the tech that came over. I have had him many times before and we have developed a great rapport with each other always catching up on our families etc. Oh yeah, and his work is excellent as well. This time Wes had Sean with him. Sean is fairly new with the company and is training with Wes. As with Wes he was very courteous and respectful of our home. I think he will be another good one for the Good Guys. I have been a customer with Good Guys for years and they have what they call a club membership which for a small monthly fee you get one service check per year and a substantial discount for any repairs you may need. Being an accountant. I look for value and this is good value for your money. The monthly fee works out to being less than the yearly service fee would be and then you get the discount on top of that. All in all this is great company to deal with. I would highly recommend them. read more

My service call was to replace an electric hot water tank and repair a shower leak and look the hot water slow supply from a couple of taps. He ended up changing out 2 bathroom taps and stoppers and also fixed a toilet leak on top of the original requests. - Neil did a great job going over everything with me and the tenant. He wore his mask and was COVID respectful. He was very kind and patient and thorough with the requested original service call and the additional items that ended up also being added. Had this company quote a couple of years ago on installing an air conditioner unit and HVAC and water heater in a different home - the owner was also thorough and gave us a good price - we ended up using a different company that had a product that worked better for us at the time but Good Guys made such a good impression on me during that call two years ago, that I called them for this job and got continued great service. I've been fortunate to work with Wes for over 5 years. He repaired an older furnace at my parents' home a couple of times, and he's been performing the annual maintenance of the furnaces and fireplaces at our two homes with the same dedication ever since. Wes is skilled, diligent, and honest. He even reminds me to use my savings coupons when paying. It's truly a relief to work with someone whom I completely trust. I highly recommend Wes for any work or upgrade related to your home heating. And this year I had the pleasure of meeting Shawn (not sure of the spelling). I appreciated his personable approach, curiosity and eagerness to learn and do the work. I'm sure he has a bright future ahead of him. Last but not least, I need to say thank you to Jacqueline and the administrative staff at Good Guys for their kindness and timely communication and scheduling. They are wonderful! read more

I've had a great experience with Good Guys. They finished installing a ductless heat pump for me this week, and everything was very smooth from start to finish. They showed up on time every day (3 days), took their time to do really quality work, and were very conscientious about cleaning up, working around obstacles etc. A lot of contractors I've dealt with expect you to bend over backwards to accommodate their work, but these guys just took care of everything. All the installers (Ryan, Jacob, Sean) were really professional, but also very nice and personable. One of them even played with my lonely cat who was cooped up and lonely. Also, the receptionist (Jacqueline I think) is super nice and helpful. They aren't the cheapest option, but I think it's worth it for the quality. read more

We have been clients of Good Guys Plumbing since September 2011, also signing on for their Club Membership (low monthly fee) where we receive priority service and yearly safety inspections/maintenance included in this fee. We have never been disappointed with the service provided; all their technicians are consummate professionals, although we must admit that Wes is our favourite! The office staff deserves a mention as well as they are personable and super efficient. The few repairs that we have had to have to our boiler system have been fairly priced. They don't try to sell you anything you don't need. We are very impressed with the knowledge and integrity that they all display during their service calls. I had Good Guys Heating Cooling & Plumbing come to my home today to service my air conditioning & heating units which this company installed for me about 9 years ago. Wes came to my house & was very friendly, courteous & knowledgeable. Sean was also very polite & helpful. They wore shoe covers to make sure they kept your carpet clean. They explained any issues that needed to be dealt with, gave me a prompt estimate about how long it would take to get the job done & how the job would be done. Wes answered all my questions & responded to my request for a quote in a timely manner & got back to me promptly about any follow-up work that was required. Back in 2004, I was fed up with the work done on my floor heating system by a local plumber and looking for an alternative. I found Allin, now called Good Guys, and a technician came to my house was newly-wed Wes. He was and still is a reliable technician and 14 years since then, he has been the caretaker of our floor heating system. I certainly recommend Wes to anyone although I am a bit afraid of him becoming too busy to take a good care of his two children. read more

We had a heat pump/blower combination installed in 2014 by Good Guys as a gas furnace replacement. Once a year maintenance following the original installation has been done by friendly and professional service technicians (most recently Sean and Myles) who show up when they say they will!
