Very good but not perfect. I hired Wicks about a month ago (based on Yelp reviews) in my extensive kitchen renovation. Their electricians were extremely efficient, knowledgeable, and were able to legally and safely implement all my requirements on three separate days over the period of a month as the reno proceeded. Special shout out to Sean, who obviously knew what he was doing and with whom I had complete confidence. Nice guy, great electrician. The only negative occurred in scheduling the third day of work. I had originally scheduled the work for a Thursday afternoon, and scheduled other contractors (plumber, countertop installer) to be coordinated with the electrical work. About a week before the work was to occur, I was told that the electrician would arrive Friday 8 am. I protested that arrangements had already been made for Thursday afternoon, but to no avail. So I had to reschedule other contractors for Friday. Then the Thursday afternoon before the Friday appointment, I was emailed and told that the electrician wouldn't be available until 10 to 11 am on Friday, rather than the agreed upon 8 am. So again on short notice, I had to scramble to reschedule other contractors. I found this to be quite unprofessional. So although I highly recommend Wicks because of their electricians' expertise, if you schedule an appointment get the time and date in writing and let them know if you cannot have the date or time moved, especially at the last moment. read more

You helped us make our opening date with time to spare and the work was top quality. This was my first time using Wicks Electric and I must say I'm very pleased! I've had a problem with the circuit in my kitchen that keeps tripping. I've previously gotten it looked at by another company in the past and paid money to just have them tell me to flip the switch to get it to work. This wasn't a sustainable solution because the problem got worse by time, the circuit started tripping way more often until it wouldn't flip back again. Based on their great reviews, I called Wicks. The electrician Jesse was very friendly, knowledgable and seemed happy to answer all my questions and explain to me the problem. He got to the root of the cause and fixed it right away (it was a damaged wire in the breaker that was heating up and getting worse every time). He also fixed other minor things I had around and didn't hesitate to get replacement parts for a broken transformer box for my puck lights. This was a long way to say I will definitely be using Wicks should I need an electrician in the future! read more

I strongly urge anyone who is trying to save money by hiring less than the BEST to rethink their strategy. I wasted time, money and a great deal of stress economizing. When I failed to get my problem resolved, I researched well-reviewed companies and found Wicks Electric. After my initial enquiry, Marianne sent me an email clarifying everything - no details spared. I was then lucky enough to have my service call answered by the CEO himself, Adam. He arrived within 2 hours and set to work quickly. It was immediately obvious to me that he was highly experienced and competent... not to mention cheerful and friendly. I live in an old house and electrical problems are not uncommon and can sometimes be very difficult. But Adam new exactly how to resolve my issue and he did it with speed and professionalism. I had some nagging electrical problems fixed today. The electrician, Daniela, arrived a bit behind schedule, but it was due to the previous job running overtime (Cathy Wicks had let me know that Daniela would arrive shortly). Daniela was super nice, and worked quickly and efficiently. My outdoor pathway lights had stopped working in the summer. Daniela tested the system, and determined that the cheap original connectors for each light needed replacing. She carefully dug up the wires, taking care to not disturb the plants too much, then installed better connectors/caps. Next, she diagnosed the problem with some flickering LED strip lights (mounted under kitchen cabinets). The culprit was a bad transformer, which will need replacing. Wicks will return to install the new transformer. I will definitely use Wicks again for any other electrical problems that might arise, and will recommend them to friends and family without hesitation. read more

Although I did not have Wicks do work for me, I can only say how positive an experience I had with them. Specifically, I had emailed a question about how much it would cost to fix the load on one of my circuits (turn on a light and the whole room goes dark!). I sent it late afternoon. Oddly I get up at about 3 am each morning and already there was a detailed reply. The person from Wicks took the time to explain what the issue likely was, educated me about code, and offered two options. One was to do nothing just be careful what is on at the same time...thus, free. The other solution asked that I measure the distance to the room from the panel and they could send a quote. That's fantastic! I might have expected "the only solution is this...and it will cost this.." but instead they were upfront and offered options. And what a quick reply! So if I do have future needs, I know where to go. read more

First time using Wicks. Very impressed with Daniela Pluess. She was prompt to arrive at the scheduled time and fixed my exterior electrical outlet. She quickly identified the problem was a breaker in the panel that was the culprit and swapped it out. All done within the estimated initial time frame that was quoted to me over the phone. She is knowledgable with the building codes, experienced, and professional. She managed to troubleshoot my old house that had complicated wiring. She was the ONLY electrician that solved my problem even when I had 2 other general contractors and a friend who was an electrician who came over previously and tried to solve it to no avail. I would recommend her in a heart beat. The company is expensive but well worth every cent especially when I could get my problem solved without having further people come over and that saves me time. read more

I'm a designer and on my last renovation the Contractor brought in Wicks Electric. Colton was the Electrician. Besides being great at his job he was sweet and patient. I love that he was concerned about washing his hands before touching the newly painted walls. A rarity in this biz. We had some troubles with a few things so multiple visits for the same problems had to happen before a fix took place. They did this without extra cost or complaint. There was also a matter of wrong item bought, which had nothing to do with Adam and no one really wanted to take on the problem, leaving me out of pocket, Adam gave my the money. He didn't have to take any responsibility ,but he stepped up. Very impressed with Ethics and his company. At only 2 years old I see them lasting a long time. Very easy to talk to, excellent scope of the job assessment and quoting, plus appointment confirmation via e-mail. Electrician phoned to confirm details, showed up on time, explained what he was doing while doing it, finished in the allotted timeframe, cleaned up after himself and offered to help me move the furniture back. Due to computer glitches, I was unable to pay on the spot, so the next day I received e-mail with very easy-to-understand (3 types) payment instructions. I found them reading the on-line reviews, decided to go with them after calling 3 other companies (very frustrating) and I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND them to anyone looking for electricians. read more

I got quotes from three different electrician businesses. I thought that the first quote $3000 was too high for the work I needed done - the electrician stated it would be a whole day's work. The next quote seemed fair at $1300 and it would take at least 5 hours to do the work. I phoned Wicks Electric to ask if they could come over and give me a quote. I was told that their only quote was $120/hour. So I thought, "5 hours times $120/hour equals $600 plus materials, that a better price than the price quoted by the other two companies." Wyatt did an excellent job and cleaned up after himself. It took him two hours to do. $240 + taxes + materials = $320. Need I same more about Wicks Electric? read more

I had been postponing various electrical work for at least a year, because I didn't know of a reliable electrician to call. Finally I just almost pulled a name out of a hat, so to speak, with my fingers crossed, and that was Wick's. I feel that I did get very lucky. Bill Wong arrived punctually at 8 a.m. and went over the existing to-do list, as well as several others that came up while on the job - I'd had a serious back-log! Bill was professional, friendly, patient, and efficient. He finished a great many tasks in a short period of time, and offered many useful tips. Wicks have been my go to electricians since I started using them about 5 years ago. They are a small team, which I prefer since there is a personal relationship and continuity with the staff. The administrative team are responsive, informative and supportive, the scheduling is flexible and the electricians are professional and care about their work. Wicks have done a variety of work for me in my Vancouver apartment, from simple repairs to more complex rewiring and installing piping and electrical boxes. Very friendly and helpful staff. They installed a new electric panel (Siemens) and my new contractor said it was a good panel as it was easy for him to retrofit some new breakers and split up some old ones. They also installed 10 potlights for me and a 208 Volt for my new dryer. I ran into a little trouble when I got inspected for a kitchen renovation a year later because of a new city regulation requiring that I retrofit fire breaks above the potlights, and Adam at Wicks agreed without hesitation to reimburse me for my time and materials. Wicks needed to reschedule to a different day when one of their other jobs ran overtime, but I don't fault them for that. Everything else was smooth, friendly, and professional. Matt knocked on the door right when he was due to show up and handled the job with a deliberate focus that identified the problem (a faulty NuHeat thermostat) and fixed it with minimal fuss. He ran to a local supply place, consulted me on the phone about which replacement model to buy, and had it in and running within the two-hour minimum window. My call was returned within an hour and everyone I spoke with was friendly and accommodating! They made sure to get all the relevant information so that when Jesse showed up for the appointment he was 100% prepared. I was very pleased with the work, and even more pleased that someone from the office followed up to see if everything was done to my satisfaction. Wicks was referred to me by my plumber (Rymer Solutions - awesome as well) as a company he'd worked with lots and respected. I met with Adam to discuss our project. He was professional and enthusiastic where some other electricians I'd spoken to were not. We hired Wicks for the job because we felt they were what we wanted in terms of knowledge and experience.
