I had used this company for over 15 years for residential work I needed done. Made an appointment with owner in Dec2024 to have some simple work done and after appt confirmed was completely ghosted. I emailed to ask where his worker, Sam, was when appt time went by but No explanation, no follow up. I found I message on my phone later, just before appt asking what service they would do because he had not made notes of job. Owner has always been unpleasant on phone but I would use them when I needed them because his workers are good. read more

I was really blown away with the service I received from Kerrisdale Electric. I needed a new light fixture installed in my dining room. I really thought due to it being a small job that I would be put on the back burner. Not the case here! They called me back within an hour, scheduled a time for a couple of days ahead. They came 2 mins before the scheduled time and in 15 minutes the job was complete. Sami came to do the job was a true professional and very friendly. These guys saved the day. Decided to call them because of the good reviews on Yelp and Google. An electrical plug on our kitchen wall started smoking after I plugged in an oil heater, and I was afraid to use it after that. It caused a big ugly scorch mark on the plug in as well. It's a bit embarrassing to call in an electrician just to fix a job this small, but my husband doesn't like tinkering with live electrical wires, so we had no choice. Their service man arrived about 50 minutes after I called (said they were already working in Kitsilano, just a few minutes north from where I live). He was all done in about 45 minutes. He removed the burnt out old plug, and installed a new one that matched up perfectly to the color of the other plugs. He gave me very helpful advice on why it happened, checked the rest of the outlets in the kitchen, and did an inspection of the electrical panel in the garage to make sure everything was good. Very nice man. I feel the price was reasonable and totally in-line with other repair people I've called. I would definitely call them again. read more

Called Kerrisdale Electric today about 9:30 AM because I needed someone to check a loose connection in the breaker box and fix a problem I had noticed with some track lighting (sort of a popping sound and everything went dark!) Not a big problem, and they said on the phone that they specialize in small jobs. They sent someone out just after 12 noon (turned out to be Jody who is the manager of the company I think). Friendly enough guy, and he went to work right away. One thing I liked was that he diagnosed the issue quickly, and told me up front exactly what he was going to do and the approximate cost. The job went very quick and I was pleased with how efficiently he worked. And the floor and area underneath the lights were completely cleaned up when he was done - very impressive. The side of their van says that they are honest and reliable, and I would have to agree. read more

I've had Kerrisdale Electric out to do work in my downtown condo now a couple of times (Sammy both times) and am very happy with their service. They make it work like is should - they respond quick, get out to your place quick, and get the job done quickly and correctly. Their fees have been reasonable, and especially when comparing to some of these other outfits that charge 'per task' which can mean you end up with a $500 plus bill for an hours worth of labour. Not impressed. The work they performed failed within hours. Shoddy electrical work is dangerous. I will amend this review if and when they resolve the issue and they provide proof that they are licensed by and in good standing with Technical Safety BC and that their all technicians are appropriately certified. read more

I called Kerrisdale Electric because we had to replace the track for our kitchen ceiling track lighting system as well as our two outdoor light fixtures. We also had some burnt out light bulbs in the fixture above our staircase. Jody arrived on time and was very professional and friendly. Everything was done quickly and carefully, all within 2 hours. I had bought the supplies ahead of time but had bought the wrong type of light bulbs. No problem, he had a supply of good quality light bulbs and the charge was minimal. I had used this company in December to fix a wonky switch that completely failed two days before Christmas and I was very pleased with their response time and the quality of their work. Called to enquire about getting someone to a character home and give a quote about fixing or replacing several small halogen potlights and to look at the electrical heating. Was told that they don't give quotes, that they charge $87 an hour to visit and assess and fix whatever needs fixing. I said I didn't know if the lighting needed fixing or replacing as it's @ 20 years old... As I'm a tenant in a home with 4 suites and not the owner, they didn't feel they could make the trip. Jody answered my call in a professional manner and he made the arrangement with my tenant to diagnose the problem. Jody fixed the problems in a short time. I was very impressed with his service. I called Kerrisdale Electric this morning and they were at my home within the hour. (Yay.) Jody was professional and fast (in response time and his work). Once he solved my problem (fixing a few frighteningly burned wires and replacing my melted thermostat) he agreed to check the other thermostats in the apartment to put my mind at ease. As my issue wasn't an emergency I assumed I'd have to wait days or weeks (it's happened to me before with other vendors) to get service. I was pleasantly surprised to get same day service from a friendly professional who made me feel my concerns were heard and respected.
