Shu Ming is licensed electrician who does installations and repairs. If you need electrical work done on your home wether it's a majoro project or something as simple as installaing a light fixutre, he can do the job for you. He's mobile so if you're in the lower mainland he can get there and do the work needed. Nice fella, Speaks English and Chinese- Mandarin, Cantonese. Reasonable rates too. Shu Ming managed to fit us in with our condo heater and thermostat problem in the master bedroom after work today. He finally traced to problem to the original wiring in the condo being improperly done so the bedroom heater was only getting half current. He checked out the panel, circuit breakers, heaters and thermostats in all the rooms, and rewired the problem heater along with a replacement thermostat. All done in 2 hours. He is very friendly and conscientious, I would definitely recommend him. read more

Very knowledgeable Patient Pleasant Problem-solver Fair rates I had a somewhat of minor electrical problem in my condo. My previous contractor had done some bad wiring which left a few of my outlets running 240v when it should've been 120v. I was quite annoyed with this contractor because he was unable to figure things out after numerous visits. I just needed to move on so I decided to pay for an electrician to come in. Shu Ming essentially worked backwards to trace the renovations that had been done to locate the electrical problem. I was thoroughly impressed just watching him work and problem solve. He was never flustered and was also in good spirits even though the problem was such a mystery. He even took the time to explain to me the process so I understood what he was doing. I contacted Shu Ming in the morning and he told me he could come by in the evening. He came after his other job and stayed for about 2hrs, late into the evening. I really appreciated this, as he could've easily scheduled me in the next day, considering it was a "small job". That is commitment to his customers. He charged me $100 for his services- sounds like an pretty good rate, if you asked me! I would definitely call on Shu Ming again and would refer him to anyone looking for a quality electrician. read more

We had an issue and he was able to fit us in on the same day that I called.I think there are two types of people in this world (if I were asked to reduce all of humanity into two categories) People who seek obstacles and people who seek solutions. The previous electrician I was using had a super bad temper, never listened and over charged. So I was glad that I found Shu Ming. I was expecting the worse because I had a dead neutral line and on the internet it said it would require breaking open walls. But Shu Ming and I found a solution that was a lot simpler. What I really liked about Shu Ming was that he had a collaborative approacj and worked with me to find a solution. He would consult with me about things. In the end, he fixed my problem (I was super relieved) and he was really inexpensive. I threw in a $50 tip because he charged way less than the previous electrician who couldn't fix the problem. I shared his name and number with several people at my office since they were also wary of finding a trustworthy and capable electrican. read more

I didn't know which type of light bulb I should buy and he drove me (!) to the grocery store and made sure that I purchased the right type for my ceiling lamps. I also asked him about the options of electric fixtures that would make my living room brighter. With about 20 years of experience serving the Vancouver area, he offers practical and sound recommendations in accordance with laws in Canada about electric light bulbs and regulations and wiring options. The pricing of his service is very reasonable. I am most impressed by his professionalism and his personality. He is very eager to help. I find myself counting on him for professional advice. We had an emergency electrical problem on a Saturday night and found this great guy on yelp. He let us know over the phone what his rate would be, came out at the time he said he would be there, solved the problem in no time at all and was just excellent to work with. He explained things really well and we are happy to recommend his services. He's in Van East but works all over Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby and maybe other areas as well. I very rarely write reviews, but I cannot give Shu Ming enough stars or praise. I called him at around four something in the afternoon hoping that he could help me with a lighting issue I was having, and even though it was pretty apparent that he was incredibly busy, he said he'd come by later on in the evening. The job he was at before mine ran overtime, but he called and said he'd be more than happy to come over anyway if I was okay with him coming over so late. I was more than okay with that, and he arrived at approximately 8pm. He was very intuitive and professional. He looked at the problematic light, and said that it wasn't the fixture or anything like that, just the switch. So he changed the switch on the spot, and that was that. Problem solved! He was also more than happy to answer the questions I had about lighting in general and he didn't rush through the job or get impatient or anything like that while expertly explaining to me what had happened and all the other things I wanted to know. He was polite, friendly, professional and very dedicated to his customers. I will absolutely be recommending him to everyone I know who needs an electrician. read more
