The staffing is amazing, there are both medication techs and caregivers focusing on the residents as a team. There are licensed LVN's 7 days a week which is not standard in this industry, so these examples of staffing truly sets the cascades apart from other facilities. Additionally the reception team answers the phone at all hours and are kind and extremely professional as well. As a recent retired RN I know what quality care looks like and the Cascades has given my family the piece of mind we need and the care my mother deserves. It's disappointing that a healthcare provider dropped a senior patient without clear communication or an opportunity to resolve or even address an issue. I wish our experience had ended as positively as it began, but unfortunately, this left us feeling frustrated and disappointed. If you are considering Elder Health, I would recommend ensuring you have a backup plan in case something similar happens. There are other concierge doctors and they are less costly. You can do better for yourself and your loved ones.

Many doctors advertised that as a specialty, but that wasn't the case. ElderHealth is a concierge service, but for the standard fee my parents get housecalls, frequent wellness check-ins, and an entire team looking after and coordinating every aspect of their care. The ElderHealth team consists of Dr. Self, two wonderful nurse practitioners, and a social worker, and will bring in any service their patient might need, including music therapy and a nurse specializing in geriatric psychiatry. Before ElderHealth, my parents had a patchwork of specialists and had frequent problems when doctors didn't communicate with each other. Dr. Self and ElderHealth offer complete care coordination. They do everything possible to minimize hospital and office visits, bringing monitors and testing service to my folks' home. ElderHealth is a model of what medical care should look like.

Not impressed with the lack of communication between the nursing staff and doctors. The nurses know what's going on, but don't communicate their observations to the doctors. I don't know if that's policy, but it should change. Everyone just reads the doctor's notes and doesn't seem to evaluate the patient and what else is going on. My mother went in for surgery on Tuesday. The nurse was unable to draw blood or insert the IVs due to my mother's small veins. The anesthesiologist inserted both IVs but missed a vein, causing complications following the surgery. My mother's arm was bruised (to be expected) and grossly swollen, oozing blood and fluid and developed blisters. Several nurses noticed this but never mentioned it to any of the doctors. One nurse even commented the IV wasn't in the vein and removed that IV. She was in the hospital 4 days. The day she was released we ended up going to urgent care because we thought her arm looked infected. The urgent care nurse practitioner suggested we go back to the hospital. We ended up going to the Marana satellite office because it was closer. That doctor said he thought she may have a blood clot, but said they did not have an ultrasound machine available on the weekends to look at it, and neither did the La Cholla hospital location. We called the surgeon's office to let them know what was happening. They said the La Cholla hospital did indeed have an ultrasound available, so we ended up going back there. After the ultrasound and waiting for 4 hours without ever being seen by a doctor or nurse to evaluate her arm Melanie came in to discharge us. I said, well, I guess she doesn't have a blood clot. She said, has no one been in here to talk to you, we said no, and asked her to look at my mother's arm. She diagnosed my mother with extravasation. She called a doctor who came in and said she'd evaluated my mother's arm and also, no clot. The doctor had never evaluated my mother's arm, maybe the results of the ultrasound, but had never actually looked at her arm. So that was a flat out lie So thank you Melanie. I do recommend Melanie in outpatient ER. She is amazing and needs to be recognized.

They changed our schedules, We weren't offered any kind of therapy meditation that we had had the first two weeks. The CEO Clayton was a complete asshole to residents he is totally on a power trip he disregarded all of us like we were lesser than. They accept all dogs as service dogs so we had them pissing on the floor barking being aggressive towards other dogs. They were not service dogs. Thank goodness for a couple emotional support dogs that were older or being trained because they helped so many through this mess. I would never recommend this place to anyone. However, the therapist I had were absolutely top-notch and some of the best staff and nurses who truly cared about us were there. If we hadn't made such an incredible community ourself we couldn't of made it through the program. But if you made any waves challenge them anyway they found a way to kick you out. they threatened people that wanted to leave early that their insurance wouldn't pay for it, which is not true. So you have to advocate for everything because they will lie just so they can get your money. The horses are no longer there. They are not capable of taking people with excessive mental illness, even though they advertise that.

In the summertime, they have bbq's. There is "Donut Thursday" with coffee. Either in the Gazebo or inside depending on the weather. She looks forward to this every week. They go on walks with the staff, Exercise class inside or outside. They have movie night!! Card games, board games. The place is so clean, the kitchen staff is wonderful. The meals are prepared and everyone shares a table, nobody sits alone. She can get her hair done, nails trimmed and polished. I adore her housemates. I trust all the staff. The grounds are always being kept up. So many flowers and butterfly's. Absolutely beautiful. I wanted to give her a birthday party last March and Rebecca let me know a good time and I was able to do it. Anyone from the other houses can come to celebrate! Who doesn't like a party? I enjoyed so much being able to do this. Her room is great, large but not too large, they all have windows. (Plenty of natural light) it's where she can decorate how she likes. She can entertain there, in the main room or visit friends. The staff put pictures she liked that we brought for her from her former home. It made her feel like home! They wash and fold her clothes, clean her room, wash bedding and make her bed. Carlton is like home away from home. She is made to feel at home! I can't say enough regarding the entire staff.
