I can't even begin to describe how amazing Emergence is! When our family moved to AZ almost 5 years ago we met Nancy. We instantly connected and knew we would use her for our next baby. The care she provided for our family was unmatched. She has become a trusted colleague and friend. She even delivered our sweet baby girl on her birthday and they got to share their special day. I highly recommend this practice. They really are something incredible!

I hired Emergence for my first pregnancy. It was the best decision ever! They are all so comforting and willing to answer any question I had as a first time mom. They really took the time to get to know me and how I pictured my birth. They never judged me for any of my beliefs or decisions. I felt so comfortable with them and confident in them. Caitlyn and Megan attended my birth and they both were amazing. The care I received during and right after helped me start to heal right away. I mean, who gets a foot massage right after birth?? After birth, I had some bleeding and had to transfer to the hospital. They never once made me feel worried or scared about this. Caitlyn met me at the hospital while Megan stayed at my home with the baby and my husband to do the measurements and checks. The calm presence they had just eased any worries I had in that vulnerable state. They're people you want around in that type of situation. I love them so much and cannot wait to have another baby.

As soon as I found out we were pregnant with our 4th I knew I wanted to do the home birth route. I Yelped midwives in the area and Emergence Midwifery showed up and thought hey they have solid reviews. Being new to the East Valley in AZ I took my chances to have a consult with Nancy. From the moment we were on video I knew my prayers were being answered. Our values aligned, Emergence vision for home birth gave me peace and confidence being under their care. I did not wait! After our call we knew this is who we wanted care from and the experience of home birth. And little did I know how well respected Nancy, Caitlyn and Kayla were in this community and space. I felt honored to be under their care. As I'm writing this I'm already anticipating the next few weeks as we wrap up our care with these amazingly blessed women. We've reaped their love and exceptional care from intentional prenatal home visits, IV's for the wellness of my Husband, recommendations for homeopathic remedies when our kids were sick, connecting us with other Emergence families who could provide remedies to my Husband who got involved in a recent personal electric vehicle accident... And then the actual care of HOME BIRTH! My experience of home birth with Kayla (Midwife) and Lindsay (birth assistant), Annalise (Doula), and Susan (photographer) is a memory I will cherish forever. In the comfort of home and their support made all the difference in our experience. I've gained empowerment as a Mom to spread the truth about the God given abilities our bodies are capable of! Also, I have to add my last two pregnancies I was diagnosed with Cholestasis (a liver condition that typically presents itself in the 3rd trimester). Nancy suggested I start a supplementation form 14 weeks on to support my liver function and I can proudly say it was successful and was not an issue with my 4th pregnancy . I'm in awe of their care during pregnancy and the thoughtful after care. They ensure you are equipped with all the postpartum care before they leave your home after birth. I wish this type of care for all women and Emergence have set the bar high. I will always look back to this experience and remember how loved we were as an entire family being under their care. They are all loving, intentional, and their model of care is truly exceptional!

If you're thinking about doing a home birth, THIS is the team you want! I had my first baby at home with Emergence and I am so glad I chose them. Their prenatal and post partum care is simply unmatched. They are SO attentive to detail and truly care about you. You are not just a number. They spent an hour at each visit!! What?! They are thorough! They visit you at your home for all visits--no driving to doctors offices and waiting to be seen. Other midwives I had consults with did not do visits in home. I would've still had to drive to them for all my prenatal visits and I don't believe they did any postpartum visits either. My birth was long & intense. Without their guidance and encouragement and skills, I don't think I would've achieved my Unmedicated home birth goal. We will definitely be using them again when we are pregnant with our next. Love these midwives SO much!! Thanks again for the incredible care. We are endlessly grateful.

Oh man, where do I start?! I cannot speak highly enough about these ladies. They truly put every ounce of heart into their care. From the moment you submit your inquiry to your 6 week postpartum visit. Not only do they build an amazing relationship with you, but your family as well. My 2 year old still asks about them! All prenatal visits are done in the comfort of your own home. They take the time to thoroughly explain everything to make sure you are as comfortable and confident as possible. I had the privilege of Midwives Caitlyn and Kayla attending my birth. Caitlyn was just the right amount of hands on that I needed, she helped assist baby girl into my arms. Kayla brought such a sense of peace into the room. She even grabbed my phone and recorded baby girls birth(thanks Kayla!). After I had baby, they both worked as a team to clean up in such a timely manner as I laid in bed cuddling my newborn. Kayla made me snacks and a placenta smoothie. Caitlyn did baby girls newborn exam after she spent 2 hours on my chest after being born. They both gave me hugs and tucked us into bed as they left. My whole experience with Emergence was nothing short of amazing. If you're contemplating home birth, this is the team you want. They will support you in every aspect and make sure you feel like the bad ass mama that you are! A huge bonus to their care is the amazing community they have built, you get to connect with like-minded mamas through special events they host. Nancy, Caitlyn and Kayla are a dream team! We love them so much and are forever grateful for the care we received!!

Hi Nancy!! I just wanted to reach out & let you know how much I appreciate you and the care that you provided for our family! I felt most connected with you throughout my appointments & am so honored that you were the one to assist with bringing Kingy earth-side! We are currently expecting baby #2 & I am TRULY saddened that you are no longer in the area!! Having anxiety & doubts that I will receive the same love, patience & understating from other providers! I actually had a serious consideration of making a temporary move just to be in AZ so you could work with us again!!! I wanted to let you know that you are definitely missed by us! I hope that you & the family are doing well & your clients appreciate & love you just as much as we do!!! Xoxoxo

I didn't meet Nancy until I was in the beginning of my third trimester, but after meeting her I realized what I had been missing my whole pregnancy - a good provider who actually cares about me! I quickly made the switch to her practice and made the decision to have a home birth. It was the best decision I could have made. No more restrictions due to current circumstances and because of her I had the most magical birth. She actually takes the time to listen to you and your concerns and she works on educating you so you can make an informed decision when it comes to the care you and your baby receive. This was my third pregnancy/birth and I'm just sad I didn't have Nancy around for my older two children.

A 10-Star Experience with Michet & Cherry Blossom Doulas…read more There are truly not enough stars to capture the level of care, support, and excellence I experienced with Michet and Cherry Blossom Doulas. From pregnancy through the birth of my son, Michet was nothing short of exceptional. From the very beginning, Cherry Blossom Doulas did an incredible job matching me with the perfect doula. As a first-time mom, that alignment meant everything--and they absolutely got it right. The classes they provided were thorough, informative, and empowering. They gave both my husband and me the confidence and foundational knowledge we needed going into this new chapter. Michet herself was a true gift. She provided unlimited resources and an abundance of information that helped us feel educated, prepared, and supported every step of the way. She took the time to walk us through all of our options, thoughtfully explaining what different labor scenarios could look like--while also grounding us in the reality that birth is unpredictable and can shift at any moment. That balance of preparation and honesty was invaluable. What stood out most was how deeply supported I felt. Michet created a space where I felt safe, cared for, and completely at ease. Her presence alone brought a sense of calm and reassurance that every expecting mother deserves. She went above and beyond in ways that truly made this experience unforgettable. From teaching my husband and I partner stretches to prepare for labor, to ensuring he also felt confident and included in the process--she supported us both wholeheartedly. Her care extended beyond the basics, offering beautiful, meaningful extras like labor photography that captured one of the most sacred moments of our lives, and even providing placenta encapsulation services. Michet's energy is soft, nurturing, and incredibly grounding. She checked in with me consistently throughout my pregnancy, always making me feel seen, heard, and prioritized. It never felt transactional--it felt deeply personal. I can wholeheartedly say that having Michet by my side was one of the best decisions I made during my pregnancy journey. She didn't just do her job--she exceeded every expectation and poured genuine care into every interaction. I am beyond grateful and would recommend her, and Cherry Blossom Doulas, to any expecting mother who desires a supported, informed, and beautifully guided birth experience.

She knew just where to touch, and exactly what to say during contractions, especially at the end when things get more intense. My birth in 2020 began unmedicated with midwife support in-hospital, and ultimately ended in c-section due to lack of progress (water breaking before contractions started, among other complications outside of our control). She helped me navigate birth at a hospital amongst the chaos of 2020 times, and was so incredibly reassuring about any of my concerns being a first time mom. Although the birth didn't end the way I initially desired, I felt supported during every decision, so the acceptance of the situation not going according to my initial desires was easier to arrive to with Alyssa's support. In 2023, I had a beautiful VBAC at a birth center. This experience was wholeheartedly different, where I was able to spend most of my time laboring at home. Alyssa walked beside me during every step of the way (for many hours again, as my body brings babies very slowly and intensely to earth ). She massaged, recommended position changes and whispered sweet nothings in my ear all night and morning while my husband was able to rest. When it came time to go to the birth center and bring baby into the world, it was her voice that carried me though the intensity of the end of an unmedicated birth. I highly recommend Cherry Blossum for doula services, they are the ABSOLUTE best.

We hired Ashley for the birth of my second child, when I was attempting an unmedicated VBAC after a horrendous experience with my first birth. I knew I wanted labor support for this birth, but honestly hiring a doula was a little "crunchy" and outside of our realm of comfort. From the first meeting with Ashley I could tell that I was completely wrong! Ashley was so real and down to earth, and made us both feel completely at ease and prepared for our TOLAC and hopeful VBAC. During actual labor, Ashley came when I told her I needed her, and helped me to do relax through contractions and do some exercise to try to turn my posterior baby. We labored at home with her help for as long as possible, and when I felt "pushy" she got us to the hospital and into a room ready to have a baby! Her coaching through early labor, transition, and especially pushing was instrumental to my successful VBAC. She was amazing at addressing my fears during labor and made sure I was informed and felt completely in control the whole time, as well as kept my husband calm and helped him to be involved with helping me. After the experience we had, I would 100% recommend Ashley to everyone I know, and would have her by my side for all future births.  Thank you so much for our healing experience Ashley!!

She is clearly knowledgeable and experienced, and I am thankful for the role she played in my birth. During transition and pushing, she offered guidance and support that was helpful in those intense final hours. I do believe she understands birth well and brings expertise to the room. That said, there were a few things that did not sit right with me. At multiple points during contractions, when I looked up, she was visibly on Facebook and Instagram. I understand that long labors can involve downtime, but she was only physically present at the hospital for a few hours during transition and pushing. Given the relatively short window of in person support, it felt disappointing and inappropriate that she was on social media during that time. It made me feel like she was not fully present in such a vulnerable moment. There were also moments where her reactions felt disproportionate, such as when the toilet water unexpectedly splashed up. Her response heightened the situation rather than helping me feel grounded and calm. In addition, I found the overall value of the package to be underwhelming compared to other doulas I interviewed. Many offered formal childbirth classes (which were extra through MM) and ongoing support groups as part of their services, whereas Modern Mama primarily offered monthly mini classes on rotating topics, which did not always feel directly relevant or comprehensive. For the investment, I had expected more structured education and support. Though I was appreciative of the nice photos that were included. I am grateful for her knowledge and the role she played in helping bring my baby into the world, but I do wish the level of presence, professionalism, and overall value had been stronger throughout the experience. I likely won't hire Modern Mama again although I don't have experience with the other doulas.

As first time parents, we found that we didn't have a true understanding of what was best to do once we brought our little guy home from the hospital. Sure - we had read a lot and had additional support to help us get ready, but with Modern Mama, we found a professional who specializes in exactly what we needed - "what does good look like?" / "what should we be doing?" / "what are we doing right/ wrong?" From the moment that Kristin walked into our door, we were met with a calm and welcoming presence that shared recommendations for getting to sleep, eat, and dressed appropriately. She shared with us what most parents do and what is truly a choice for us. What's more, she was an incredible support for my wife who was breastfeeding for the first time, encouraging her and helping her to establish appropriate techniques and set her up with pumping appropriately, which would have taken us weeks without the support. Lastly, Kristin also followed up with us multiple times after the nights that she had stayed, seeing how we were doing and following up with great resources tied to the questions that we had + other professionals that could help with some of the areas that we were looking to develop. We'd highly recommend the support from Modern Mama and specifically Kristin as a doula for and first time parents - I truly believe they were a primary reason for us to start off on the right foot at home. (For reference, we had the 3 night package for the first couple of nights at home)

However the ultrasound doctor strongly advised to give birth at a hospital. At the time we didn't understand why or the urge to sway us away from the birthing center. When we told the midwive she immediately tried getting rid of me as a patient. I had to call around different doctor offices trying to be seen at 39 weeks which was impossible to get an appointment. My husband finally bugged the midwife enough for her to tell me to "go to a hospital, lie about having contractions" that she would make a call and have some random doctor that I've never met claim me as his patient for me to be admitted. We were left with no doctor, no help, no answers, told to lie to medical staff. It was completely stressful. No medical facility should ever treat someone like this ! So, about 10 weeks before I was due I started the search for another doula and came across both Lora, and Chelsea, individually. I contacted them and they let me know they had recently teamed up and were available. We had a zoom call with them and my husband and I decided to book them for our August birth. Chelsea & Lora came for a home visit in June, so we could meet them and discuss initial ideas about my labor/birth/etc. They both brought their individual strengths and so much knowledge. They then came back a few weeks before I was due to discuss plans for when i went into labor, comfort measures, etc. They were both there any other time my husband and I had a question throughout the whole process as well. I had a long, long (44 hour) labor and we (mainly my husband) were in contact with Chelsea/Lora the entire time. About 22 hours in, once the pain had gotten pretty bad, Lora came to our house at 8pm. She quietly supported us and helped get through the contractions. At midnight, Chelsea swapped in so Lora could get some rest. Chelsea encouraged me to keep moving and try different things to help progress labor. When we thought it was time to go to the birth center, Chelsea came with us. When I finally ended up being admitted, Lora was the doula who ultimately joined us at the birth center- and spent over 12 hours there with us. I had mentioned during one of our previous meetings that I would love it if the doula who was present could snap some pictures during the day of labor/birth- I wasn't looking for anything too fancy or professional but just wanted some iphone pics. Lora went above and beyond, using her own camera to take lots of pictures and a video of the birth- which we haven't seen yet but are so excited for! Both Lora & Chelsea truly went above and beyond, and are a perfect complementary team. They came for a 2 week postpartum visit and it felt like having friends over to meet the baby- we cannot recommend them and their services enough & will definitely be using them for baby 2!
