Cherry Blossom is the best of the best. I originally interviewed Alyssa when I was pregnant with my 1st in 2020 and absolutely adored her, but at the time we were unable to make it work due to hospital policies. I knew right away when I got pregnant again in 2022 that I wanted Alyssa to be my doula for my home birth. I called her shortly after I found out I was pregnant, we FaceTimed and the rest is history. Alyssa is kind, supportive, knowledgeable, passionate and reliable. She was there for me through my whole pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum. She was one of the few people I trusted enough to allow into my birth space at home. She was the perfect amount of hands on(those hip squeezes!! iykyk;)) and such an amazing verbal support. I remember when she first arrived, seeing her face and hearing your voice brought such a sense of calm over me. She carries such a beautiful light with her wherever she goes. She also took amazing photos for us and I will treasure them forever! I feel like I've gained a forever friend in Alyssa and I am so beyond grateful for her. Alyssa has taken the time to build an amazing team of women at Cherry Blossom. They can support you from pregnancy, birth and all the way through postpartum. Dive in with Cherry Blossom, I promise you will not regret it!!

Birthing tub, unmediated birth, doula, birthing center

I had the pleasure of having Megan as my doula for my first birth & I truly don't think I could've done it without her. I was at a birthing center, so I went into it knowing I would be doing it unmediated & having Megan to provide me with all the different positions & techniques was a huge help! She helped guide my husband through things he could do & was so comforting & encouraging throughout the whole process. She is gentle, kind & super intuitive when it comes to what you need. 100% would recommend her to anyone!

Conversation between my doula and husband

When I first booked with Cherry Blossom Doulas (CBD) in March 2023 I was excited to be making this investment into my labor & birth experience. I went to monthly classes & was in contact with my doula, building our relationship and asking questions, leading up to my due date in October. By the time we got to my 36 week meeting- she seemed a bit burned out & I knew she'd been taking on a lot of different clients & classes. We talked about what was going to happen & 1 thing stood out- she said "DO NOT CALL ME WHEN ITS HAPPENING." She said if I could talk on the phone & was smiling there was no way I would be far enough into active labor for her to come. She said I'd be crying, throwing up, screaming etc. & I trusted her. She said I would have to have my husband call her because this would mean I was in active labor. She explained how annoying it was when 1st time moms would call & she would go and they'd only be in early labor and barely dilated & she'd have to leave again & come back when they were actually in active labor. I promised not to call until I was in active labor. My water had broken the night before my 39 week OB appointment and my OB had immediately sent me over to the hospital when I contacted her. I was in contact with my doula & she told me she had appointments with clients that day but I should send her updates and she would come by to see me later that night. There was a 4 hour gap when I was in early labor- vomiting, crying, & panicking- when my husband took over the updates & said things were getting intense but I was only dilated to 1cm so I wasn't in "active labor". My doula finally called to check in with me after I received an epidural but I still was only dilated to 2cm & really didn't need her help at that point.1-2 hours later the baby's condition suddenly worsened & I texted my doula to tell her the baby was in danger & I required a c-section. She called me immediately & asked me what was going on that would warrant a c-section. I explained the medical complications that justified an emergency c-section since my midwife & nurse had been discussing the situation with me & I was making a fully educated decision to save my baby's life since, again, I was only dilated to 2cm. My doula was flustered & told me that most of my reasons were not that big of a deal. My nurse stepped in to try to help give some clarity & there was a tense exchange between them. My doula then felt that she was entitled to tell my care team to leave the room and advise me privately on what was best for me and my baby- even though she wasn't & hadn't been there. She said she was coming to the hospital. (Without an invitation from me- because she would not be allowed in the OR even if she had been there the whole time & I certainly did not ask her to come to waste her time then.) She was an hour away & showed up 30 minutes after I had delivered. She saw me & the baby, chatted for a minute & then left. When I contacted the company about the $1,200 payment I'd made- with the whole point being support during labor & birth (beyond just texts & calls) but not having received any, CBD's HR rep. blamed me. She said I'd never "invited" my doula to come to my birth (although $1,200 and months of conversations seems like an awesome invitation to me). She blamed the hospital staff for not stepping in early on to help me. She blamed me for accepting an induction agent after my water had been broken for 16 hours & I was at risk of infection. She blamed my husband for not calling my doula when I was not ever dilated past 2 cm. She blamed anyone & everyone except her company's policies & then directed me back to my contract to show me that I had actually agreed to never blame CBD as well. I was told that they were listening, had heard every word I said, and understood how scary and unpredictable it can be to be a first time mom in labor. And I was told that I did not "qualify" for a refund, because I did not make the right choices (According to their contract- a C-section automatically disqualifies you for a refund. However, a miscarriage will qualify you for a full one!). I am very disappointed I wasted so much time and money for nothing. *Added photos of all the messages between my doula and my husband to show they are lying about her asking him if she should come**

I have been blessed with Alyssa to care for me through two births now. She was with me when I had my first baby at Babymoon Inn 8 years ago and when I became pregnant with my second I reached out to her again. She really helped me stay focused and get through a very difficult labor. With my second pregnancy I was really nervous. Talking to her about what I want and planning my second delivery really helped. I feel like she is such a close friend that I can talk to, even 8 years later. She is so loving, caring and knowledgeable. She has given great advise along the way and postpartum with baby. I'm so thankful for her being by my side throughout these life changing experiences. I feel like I couldn't have done it without her. I'd recommend her to anyone

Raw emotion. The first hold.

I wanted someone who could help me understand my options, prepare for labor, and provide support beyond what I expected from my medical team. Hiring a doula gave me the reassurance that I wouldn't have to navigate the experience alone. Knowing Michelle would be there to guide, educate, and encourage me made me feel much more confident and prepared going into my first birth. After that, having a doula, for me, was a non-negotiable. Michelle has been by my side for the births of all three of my children, and I can't imaging a birth without her. Each experience was so unique and different, but her support, knowledge, and encouragement were invaluable every single time. I wanted unmedicated births, and Michelle gave me the confidence, preparation, and tools I needed to achieve that goal. During labor, she knew exactly how to support me physically and emotionally, helping me stay focused and calm through some of the most challenging moments. When I doubted myself, she reminded me of my strength and helped me trust my body. What sets Michelle apart is that she doesn't just show up on the day of your birth. She invests in her clients, provides evidence-based information, answers questions, and helps you feel empowered to make decisions that are right for you and your family. Her presence brought a sense of peace and confidence that benefited not only me, but also my husband. She helped my husband understand my needs and how to be a source of strength. She guided him through ways to encourage and comfort me during labor, which allowed us to work together as a team and made the experience even more positive. Because of Michelle's support, I look back on all three of my birth experiences with gratitude and pride. If you're considering hiring a doula, I wholeheartedly recommend the Modern Momma team; they are compassionate, knowledgeable, professional, and truly passionate about helping mothers have positive and empowering birth experiences.

She is clearly knowledgeable and experienced, and I am thankful for the role she played in my birth. During transition and pushing, she offered guidance and support that was helpful in those intense final hours. I do believe she understands birth well and brings expertise to the room. That said, there were a few things that did not sit right with me. At multiple points during contractions, when I looked up, she was visibly on Facebook and Instagram. I understand that long labors can involve downtime, but she was only physically present at the hospital for a few hours during transition and pushing. Given the relatively short window of in person support, it felt disappointing and inappropriate that she was on social media during that time. It made me feel like she was not fully present in such a vulnerable moment. There were also moments where her reactions felt disproportionate, such as when the toilet water unexpectedly splashed up. Her response heightened the situation rather than helping me feel grounded and calm. In addition, I found the overall value of the package to be underwhelming compared to other doulas I interviewed. Many offered formal childbirth classes (which were extra through MM) and ongoing support groups as part of their services, whereas Modern Mama primarily offered monthly mini classes on rotating topics, which did not always feel directly relevant or comprehensive. For the investment, I had expected more structured education and support. Though I was appreciative of the nice photos that were included. I am grateful for her knowledge and the role she played in helping bring my baby into the world, but I do wish the level of presence, professionalism, and overall value had been stronger throughout the experience. I likely won't hire Modern Mama again although I don't have experience with the other doulas.

My husband finally bugged the midwife enough for her to tell me to "go to a hospital, lie about having contractions" that she would make a call and have some random doctor that I've never met claim me as his patient for me to be admitted. Chelsea was absolutely incredible, she was with us for the evenings the first week our little one came into the world. We also had her back for the week my husband transitioned back to work so I could get caught up on sleep. Chelsea taught us a lot of great tricks to try for calming our fussy baby, she helped around the house, and she's the swaddle queen. Ask for a lesson and practice, you won't regret it. She was open to our long list of continuous questions, and helped us see that we had to continue to try a combination of things until something worked to soothe our baby. Chelsea also continued to reinforce our efforts and remind us we were doing a great job, even on days we were ready to give up. I'm so grateful to Anna at Arizona Doulas for making the time to have an introductory call with us at the beginning to help us understand how a doula could be beneficial. Anna provided the various options and let us customize our support needs. Anna made sure we knew this journey was about us and getting situated and acclimated as a newly expanded family. So, about 10 weeks before I was due I started the search for another doula and came across both Lora, and Chelsea, individually. I contacted them and they let me know they had recently teamed up and were available. We had a zoom call with them and my husband and I decided to book them for our August birth. Chelsea & Lora came for a home visit in June, so we could meet them and discuss initial ideas about my labor/birth/etc. They both brought their individual strengths and so much knowledge. They then came back a few weeks before I was due to discuss plans for when i went into labor, comfort measures, etc. They were both there any other time my husband and I had a question throughout the whole process as well. I had a long, long (44 hour) labor and we (mainly my husband) were in contact with Chelsea/Lora the entire time. About 22 hours in, once the pain had gotten pretty bad, Lora came to our house at 8pm. She quietly supported us and helped get through the contractions. At midnight, Chelsea swapped in so Lora could get some rest. Chelsea encouraged me to keep moving and try different things to help progress labor. When we thought it was time to go to the birth center, Chelsea came with us. When I finally ended up being admitted, Lora was the doula who ultimately joined us at the birth center- and spent over 12 hours there with us. I had mentioned during one of our previous meetings that I would love it if the doula who was present could snap some pictures during the day of labor/birth- I wasn't looking for anything too fancy or professional but just wanted some iphone pics. Lora went above and beyond, using her own camera to take lots of pictures and a video of the birth- which we haven't seen yet but are so excited for! Both Lora & Chelsea truly went above and beyond, and are a perfect complementary team. They came for a 2 week postpartum visit and it felt like having friends over to meet the baby- we cannot recommend them and their services enough & will definitely be using them for baby 2!

This review is a long time coming…read more I meant to write this shortly after our son was born, however, I was caught up in the early fog of sleepless motherhood and the words I wrote early on never seemed to showcase how I really felt about our experience with Ashley and LoveBug Doula. When I wrote this review I wanted to convey just how much Ashley Wain meant to my husband and I and the success of the birth of our son. I met Ashley at an event when I was about six months pregnant and I had read about doulas online previous to meeting her. As a natural lifestyle advocate, the idea definitely intrigued me even though I'd planned a hospital birth due to placenta complications. Going into my pregnancy I knew I wanted it to be as intervention free and medication free as possible I just didn't know how I was going to get there - as I am someone who is anxiety prone and who feels has a low pain tolerance. I put my faith in God that He would get me there to achieve my birthing goals and it was an exceptional blessing that he led my husband and I to meeting Ashley. When I first met her she made me feel so comfortable and I felt like I had known her for years. I knew that if we went the route of hiring a Doula it would have to be her. Her spots were filling up quickly so I had my husband come in and speak with her right away, and again, everything in me was telling me that I needed to hire her and so I went home that night and my husband and I actually talked about it at length for a few days. We ended up deciding to make her a part of our birthing team and there isn't a day that goes by that I don't believe that that was the best decision I made for our birth. The care that she gave to us, the way that she spoke life into me for 29 hours during a painful an all natural birth, the patience and strength within her and the way she supported not only me and my son, but my husband and my hospital team, solidified over and over again, hour after hour, that she was meant to be there. If you are considering a Doula but are skeptical or have reservations know that we did too. It was a leap of faith that we took and I believe with everything in me that I would not have had the birth experience that I had and I would not have been able to labor as long as I did naturally had it not been for Ashley's professional coaching, friendly disposition and overall knowledge of the birth process. I cannot say enough good things about this amazing woman and the talents that she has. If I am so blessed to have anymore babies I will do everything in my power to be able to have Ashley on my team again.

We hired Ashley for the birth of my second child, when I was attempting an unmedicated VBAC after a horrendous experience with my first birth. I knew I wanted labor support for this birth, but honestly hiring a doula was a little "crunchy" and outside of our realm of comfort. From the first meeting with Ashley I could tell that I was completely wrong! Ashley was so real and down to earth, and made us both feel completely at ease and prepared for our TOLAC and hopeful VBAC. During actual labor, Ashley came when I told her I needed her, and helped me to do relax through contractions and do some exercise to try to turn my posterior baby. We labored at home with her help for as long as possible, and when I felt "pushy" she got us to the hospital and into a room ready to have a baby! Her coaching through early labor, transition, and especially pushing was instrumental to my successful VBAC. She was amazing at addressing my fears during labor and made sure I was informed and felt completely in control the whole time, as well as kept my husband calm and helped him to be involved with helping me. After the experience we had, I would 100% recommend Ashley to everyone I know, and would have her by my side for all future births.  Thank you so much for our healing experience Ashley!!

Wow. What an amazing home birth experience. First of all,…read morelet me express my gratitude to all the midwives at Aurora. They are all kind, highly experienced, knowledgeable, and relatable. It's hard to come across a practice where ALL the providers are top notch. Usually there's one great provider with the others being mediocre at best. That's not the case here! Regardless of who ends up being the midwife when you give birth, you won't be disappointed! Secondly, I am extremely thankful for their ability to provide modern care with a holistic approach. The reason I chose Aurora is because they are truly up-to-date on natural approaches to pregnancy management and what is considered safe vs not. Most modern providers don't give you advice on nutrition, natural pain management (because that doesn't exist), nor do they make sure you are ok mentally. From my previous pregnancy, where I received care from an OB at another practice, I was treated as if pregnancy was a medical condition and the provider never asked for consent. They used scare tactics to talk me into getting things and doing things that I would never normally agree to. With Aurora, they take pride in asking consent for every single action before doing so. I had never experienced care where they actually consider the individual's values and opinions and not just their educated beliefs. Lastly, the whole experience of the birth was amazing and enlightening. During my first pregnancy, many things went haywire and it felt very much like a medical procedure. With Aurora, my birth at home was very peaceful and hands off. The midwives assured me every step along the way to trust my body and to do what it was asking me to do. By trusting them and listening to my body's intuition, I was able to have the best, quickest birth at home with my husband and toddler! Overall, I would give them 10/10 and recommend Aurora Midwifery to any momma who is currently pregnant. Although it's most likely my last pregnancy, I would choose Aurora time and time again for pregnancy care.
