I don't even know how to begin this review as I am in the midst of grieving the loss of our 16 week baby girl but it's important to me to express this experience, especially for any families going through birth or loss. I hired Kelly again after my first successful birth of my daughter in 2024. Since this time, I hired Kelly when I found out I was pregnant in May 2025. Unfortunately, in August we lost our little boy at 12 weeks gestation. I had delivered baby boy at home but Kelly was one of the first people I told, I remember her crying with me over the phone, this gave such comfort in that moment. She was just a text away to offer any assistance. I didn't ask her to be there, I was in shock and didn't know how to handle this experience at the time, I was just so focused on delivering at home and really didn't know what to expect, even though Kelly did educate me. She checked in on me through those hours and following days. She offered resources of miscarriage support and healing. In January we got pregnant again, Kelly was one of the first people I told. I wanted her to doula for us but was nervous to commit until after 14 week visit. She totally understood and gave me time to process. Everything had gone so smooth with baby's growth and development. We saw our amazing OB, Dr. Hervey at my 18 week appointment and we were shocked and heartbroken again to find out we lost our baby girl. This time it was decided to deliver the baby at the hospital for safety reasons. I was extremely nervous especially as I was still healing from delivering my baby boy at home just 8 months prior. Kelly again was devastated, I asked her if there were any miscarriage doulas who could support us during this time. Without hesitation Kelly said she would be there for us in any capacity. I can't even begin to describe how amazing Hayley is! I'm so lucky to have had her on my team for the birth of my first child. As soon as I learned I was pregnant, I began doing research and learning about labor and delivery. My husband and I met Hayley after we took an 8-hour crash course lamaze class and my husband realized that the OBGYN does not help during labor, just for birth. As soon as we met Hayley, we knew she was a good fit for our team. She is super knowledgeable, kind, and respectful. She also didn't seem pushy like some other doulas. We wanted our OBGYN and doula to work together, not against each other, and Hayley definitely had that mindset. She basically said "I will support whatever you and your husband want/need" and that was perfect for us. Throughout my pregnancy, Hayley was available for me to text with any random questions which she quickly responded to. Upon my due date, our baby boy showed no intentions of coming so Hayley worked with us to make a 4-day plan with different things to try (i.e. acupuncture, hiking, homeopathies, labor shake) each day leading up to my scheduled induction at 41 weeks and 4 days. Low and behold, the Sunday before my induction my water broke after I completed the last thing from my plan from Hayley. I think it's important to first know before reading this review is I have had two natural child births within 14 months of each other. The first was without a doula and the most recent was with Danielle as our doula. My husband was first not on board with getting a doula, as he did not understand the point of having one when we have midwives, doctors and nurses at the hospital. Within 5 minutes into labor, my husband understood and said he would never go back! Throughout pregnancy, Danielle was available to answer all my tiny to big questions on what was happening with my body. Even though I had just gone through a pregnancy, you forget a ton and every pregnancy is so different. She kept me motivated through labor, got me moving, in different positions, tried multiple methods to keep contractions going, and when I thought I couldn't go any more, she reminded me why I wanted the birth I had chosen. She made sure my husband was involved the whole time and really gave him the confidence to coach me through the birth. She knew when she needed to step in and when she needed to step back. This was our second time using Kelly as our doula and once again it was such an incredible experience! I transferred from a home birth to the hospital for my first birth and was really hoping to deliver at home this time. Kelly helped me work through the trauma from my first birth and supported me exactly how I needed to be supported to give me the home birth I had been hoping for this second time! She also came to the hospital with me for a tear that couldn't be repaired at home. To have her guidance and help navigating the hospital made the trip so short - we were back home in 2 hours in time for baby brother to meet his big sister before bedtime. The photos she takes are absolutely stunning and capture the most beautiful moments. We also loved getting the birth timeline to remember all the details that get swept up in the moment. We opted for the VIP package, which I highly recommend! The TENS unit was a life saver for back labor plus all the additional postpartum products, placenta encapsulation and IBCLC support you get make the postpartum recovery so much better. I found Danielle through recommendations of my OB. I am so thankful for the connection there too, as it made things that much smoother. My experience with Danielle was absolutely amazing! Going into labor and delivery, I knew my husband and I needed the emotional and informational support of a doula. Danielle has such a positive and calming presence from the first meeting over FaceTime. I knew we needed to have someone with her confidence and her positive vibes to be there to support us through the birth of our baby. It was also very important to me that she could guide me with faith-based encouragement as well. She has been there as a constant support through texts and calls that soothed my worries leading up to and following my hospital birth experience. Even though my natural birth plan did not go as planned through needing to be induced unexpectedly, Danielle was there to walk me through my options and make sure I was comfortable with each step as we moved forward. She advocated for me and the experience I wanted to have, making what could have been a very stressful day of big decisions into a new dream come true. Danielle encouraged me and reminded me of the big picture throughout my contractions in a way that grounded me. We needed things to progress and baby to be in a good position and she knew the positions I needed to be in to help that happen. My labor wasn't "quick" but felt extremely productive and quicker than I thought 24 hours would feel. I was never just sitting around in agony wondering when things would be over, I was very focused on getting through each contraction at a time. This is very much because of the guidance of my doula Danielle. And she also did an amazing job directing and empathizing with my husband. Danielle helped soothe his anxiety and give him ways to help/support me in a time where he felt helpless. When it got to the point that we decided c-section was the best option for us, Danielle helped support my husband in the time before and after the procedure where he would have been alone. I am so so thankful for her support of him when I could not be there to soothe his anxieties. Danielle showed again and again throughout my labor that she had an amazing amount of experience. I had complete trust in her throughout the entire experience and felt so cared for. I would 100% recommend having a doula guide you through your birth experience and would 1000% recommend Danielle. I will also recommend placenta encapsulation. As someone who has struggled with anxiety and depression, how I would feel after birth was worrisome. I didn't take the capsules at first, seeing if I would need them. When the waves of crazy difficult emotions hit, I decided to start taking them and felt the obvious change. It made all the difference for me. All in all, I am BEYOND grateful for Danielle and Sunshine Doula Services for helping make the birth of my son the beautiful amazing day that it was! Hiring Kelly Sunshine as our doula was one of the best decisions my husband and I made for our birth. She gently guided us through not just our pregnancy but also through the crazyness of the caronavirus and all of the complications that brought for our birth. We ended up choosing a homebirth because of hospital restrictions and she lead us to the most amazing midwife team! She supported me throughout the labor and gave me the strength and encouragement I needed to have a natural birth of a my 9.4lb son. Our labor plans changed from a  hospital birth, to a homebirth with Kelly and our midwives and we wouldn't change that for anything! Where do I begin? I honestly get emotional thinking about Kelly's support throughout my pregnancy and birth journey. My husband and I were on the fence if we really needed a doula and if it would be the right decision for us. We have close friends that used Kelly for a home birth, and honestly, the husband's testimony was what sold us. He said it ended up being more for him than his wife, and he was right. Kelly wasn't just a massive support for this first time mama but a huge, calming energy for this first time dad as well. At my first visit with Kelly I ended up switching providers (and labor hospital) after learning about the high c-section rate my current high risk provider had. This was an uncomfortable decision to make midway through my pregnancy, but I leaned into my gut and knew I wanted a more holistic, natural approach to the birth of my baby. I wanted to be heard and feel respected, thankfully I found that quickly in this new provider that Kelly highly recommended. I am forever grateful for making that tough decision. Knowing that we could call or text Kelly at any point prior to labor gave us such reassurance. I would end up nicknaming her a "human xanex" because of the way she can easily settle any mom's nerves. She was a strong advocate for my natural approach to birth, but wholeheartedly supported me with my ultimate decision for an epidural after I wasn't progressing. The amount of care and consideration that went into my labor: the positions I was in, the change in environment, the dimmed lights, the calming music, the laughter, the coaching, massage and breathing support...Kelly was our greatest gift that day. The birth of our first child was a beautiful, peaceful experience and that manifestation came to life because of Kelly. We will 1,000% use her in the future when we decide to grow our family again. She has an absolute heart of gold, and so easily became family. We would recommend her to anyone considering the support and love of a doula. read more

Danielle was the absolute BEST asset I could have prayed for on my birth team. Being a first time mom, not knowing what truly to expect with labor and delivery I felt so supported every step of the way. I was able to text her any and all questions and especially the day I was going into labor when I wasn't sure if it was real or practice contractions, she checked in on me and gave me tools along the way. She also was a great partner and support for my husband so that he felt he could be my rock but also what would be helpful. He didn't quite understand the need for a double until we were in labor and he even said that he was grateful to have had her there for both my support and his! Postpartum she was also amazing!! Checking in on us and coming by the next day it was nice to have someone who was there with us check in and walk me through what to do/expect next for a first time postpartum mom. Again, I never felt like I was alone since I could text her postpartum questions that I wasn't sure about! If you are in the Phoenix area and are looking for someone you can trust and feel comfortable and supported during your birth journey SHE IS YOUR GAL! I worked with Sam from Sunshine Doulas. Sam provided excellent support for me and my husband during the later weeks of pregnancy and the actual delivery of our daughter. Sam was quick to respond to any questions / concerns I had in the late weeks of my pregnancy. I had originally wanted an unmedicated birth and Sam had helped me prepare for that. However, once I went into labor, things changed and I ended up getting an epidural. Sam was so supportive of the changes to my plan and provided amazing guidance to help my labor progress. She also took amazing photos of the delivery of our daughter. I am so glad we were able to work with Sam & would definitely hire her again for our next child! read more

Kelly was the perfect doula for us. My first birth experience was traumatic so I was quite nervous going into things this time but Kelly reassured and encouraged me all along the way. She made sure I knew the options I had and the pros and cons of each option but ultimately she supported me and the choices I made going into this birth. As a first time mom I was encouraged to get a Doula, it was one of the best decisions I have ever made for us. My cousin used Danielle and highly recommended her so I decided to go with Danielle as well. Form the moment we met Danielle was there for me answering any questions I had and encouraged me through my pregnancy. It was great having Danielle to call as I was going through my contractions, she was able to coach me on how to breath through the pain until it was time to go to the hospital.
