However the ultrasound doctor strongly advised to give birth at a hospital. At the time we didn't understand why or the urge to sway us away from the birthing center. When we told the midwive she immediately tried getting rid of me as a patient. I had to call around different doctor offices trying to be seen at 39 weeks which was impossible to get an appointment. My husband finally bugged the midwife enough for her to tell me to "go to a hospital, lie about having contractions" that she would make a call and have some random doctor that I've never met claim me as his patient for me to be admitted. We were left with no doctor, no help, no answers, told to lie to medical staff. It was completely stressful. No medical facility should ever treat someone like this ! Especially someone who is pregnant . It turns out that OUR midwive was responsible for the death of a baby during labor. 3 months prior to my delivery. I knew I wanted a doula for my labor/birth, and had a doula recommended to me by a friend. I…read moreprocrastinated on contacting her, and by the time I did- she was booked. So, about 10 weeks before I was due I started the search for another doula and came across both Lora, and Chelsea, individually. I contacted them and they let me know they had recently teamed up and were available. We had a zoom call with them and my husband and I decided to book them for our August birth. Chelsea & Lora came for a home visit in June, so we could meet them and discuss initial ideas about my labor/birth/etc. They both brought their individual strengths and so much knowledge. They then came back a few weeks before I was due to discuss plans for when i went into labor, comfort measures, etc. They were both there any other time my husband and I had a question throughout the whole process as well. I had a long, long (44 hour) labor and we (mainly my husband) were in contact with Chelsea/Lora the entire time. About 22 hours in, once the pain had gotten pretty bad, Lora came to our house at 8pm. She quietly supported us and helped get through the contractions. At midnight, Chelsea swapped in so Lora could get some rest. Chelsea encouraged me to keep moving and try different things to help progress labor. When we thought it was time to go to the birth center, Chelsea came with us. When I finally ended up being admitted, Lora was the doula who ultimately joined us at the birth center- and spent over 12 hours there with us. I had mentioned during one of our previous meetings that I would love it if the doula who was present could snap some pictures during the day of labor/birth- I wasn't looking for anything too fancy or professional but just wanted some iphone pics. Lora went above and beyond, using her own camera to take lots of pictures and a video of the birth- which we haven't seen yet but are so excited for! Both Lora & Chelsea truly went above and beyond, and are a perfect complementary team. They came for a 2 week postpartum visit and it felt like having friends over to meet the baby- we cannot recommend them and their services enough & will definitely be using them for baby 2!

It's also great that they have an in house phlebotomist so I could do my labs same day in the office. All of the other staff I have encountered have all been very nice! I have had no problem getting appointments and love that I can communicate via text!!

She knew just where to touch, and exactly what to say during contractions, especially at the end when things get more intense. My birth in 2020 began unmedicated with midwife support in-hospital, and ultimately ended in c-section due to lack of progress (water breaking before contractions started, among other complications outside of our control). She helped me navigate birth at a hospital amongst the chaos of 2020 times, and was so incredibly reassuring about any of my concerns being a first time mom. Although the birth didn't end the way I initially desired, I felt supported during every decision, so the acceptance of the situation not going according to my initial desires was easier to arrive to with Alyssa's support. In 2023, I had a beautiful VBAC at a birth center. This experience was wholeheartedly different, where I was able to spend most of my time laboring at home. Alyssa walked beside me during every step of the way (for many hours again, as my body brings babies very slowly and intensely to earth ). She massaged, recommended position changes and whispered sweet nothings in my ear all night and morning while my husband was able to rest. When it came time to go to the birth center and bring baby into the world, it was her voice that carried me though the intensity of the end of an unmedicated birth. I have been going to Glow for about 4-5 years now. I had two wonderful births with Mallorie and…read morejust recently had my 4th baby with Annie. (I had one baby before I found Glow). When I found out we were having a surprise baby, I immediately called glow to get a birth spot with Mallorie. Unfortunately Mallorie wasn't available this July so she recommended Annie. Initially I was a little nervous because I was used to seeing Mallorie, but Annie was incredible! Annie was attentive, understanding, answered all my questions during appointments and such a sweet, smart person! During my labor in the hospital, Annie was there the whole time! (Hospital nurses make me very nervous so that meant a lot to me.) She sat with me and my husband while I was laboring in the tub. She recommended different positions to bring baby down. She limited the number of nurses in the room. She remembered what I wanted for my birth plan, even when I was yelling for an epidural. She kept calm even when I was not and labor was happening incredibly fast. I cannot recommend Annie enough. The other staff that works for Glow are also amazing. They are always kind and helpful. I think it would be difficult, or impossible, to find another practice in the valley as wonderful as Glow!

Tuesday morning I received a call that the Dr. would not be in the office because she was on call at the hospital, so we changed the appointment to Thursday morning. As I arrive at the office and am getting ready to get out of my car, I receive a text stating that the Dr. was ill and would not be in that day. I went in and told them I was not happy with them and then got an appointment for the following Monday. This appointment was very disappointing as I found out that my message was not forwarded to the Dr. or the Office Manager so what I was asking for was not there. So nothing was accomplished again at this appointment. I felt very dissatisfied with the whole situation. I was told that they would order the next sizes for me and would contact me when they came in. I had asked if the item was inserted correctly or if it was to far back in my body and was told that it was fine and this would be addressed at the next visit has been 3 weeks. As of this writing I have still not heard anything from this office, i will never go back and I would advise others to think very hard before using this facility.
