I didn't try the food so I can't comment on that, they had a lot of drinks on tap. I do agree the service is super slow, especially at the bar. read more

Great ambiance, and food is on par with expectations, the beer menu offers a variety. The service is a 7/10... I have been a few times and that's what to expect from embers. I would recommend for a chill night with no press for time... they charge for sauce tho.... big downside read more

Embers is a great family place. When the weather is nice the patio is the place to be. Really great beer selection. The food is mediocre and there always seem to be not enough people working. My last server Kaitlyn was so nice. Always moving and making sure we had everything we needed. Always smiling which was nice to see. I would go back there again as long as she is my server. read more

I've been to embers multiple times and it's always been a good place to spend the night hanging out. I did have an issue with an employee, but the owners handled the situation appropriately and professionally I think that's important. The owners actually care about the bar and it's success. Embers has the best atmosphere out of all the bars on state street and I didn't want to write it off because of one single experience. I'm happy after my conversation and will be happy to go back. read more

My experience at Embers was awesome tonight! Rafa was our server and we had the best service from him. He approached our table right away and our food came in a timely manner, and he never hesitated to help us in any way. I plan on returning soon in hopes to get the matched service that Rafa gave us. Our table ordered the fried pickles, a burger and tater tots, the food was fantastic! read more

Such great service!!! Food was amazing! Kaitlyn was an awesome server :) I had such a good time, I can't wait to come back! Will definitely tell friends and family about it! Highly recommend. Also can't go wrong with a burger from there! read more

First off we received excellent service! Jake & Helena (brand new server in training) did a fabulous job! Secondly, the food was amazing! Always happy to find good vegetarian options in the local area. My daughter had the Impossible Burger (plant based) that tasted so good we had to double check that she got the right patty on her BYOB (even the non-vegetarians at the table couldn't tell it was plant based). I had the Lockport Legend with the beef served on the side so I cold give it my husband and added sautéed mushrooms to replace the beef. It was a very great combination of unique flavors. We started with the Tater Tot Nachos and they were so good that we devoured them before I thought to get a photo. Nice beer selection, cool music and vibe. Our first time here and we will definitely return. Lastly, even the little chocolate covered butter mints at the hostess counter were a nice surprise. read more

I have been to Embers many times, dine in & take out. Tonight we ordered take out & picked up before they became busy. 2 of the items we ordered where their nachos, which they left out the cheese & the beans, we basically received chips, a clump of sour cream & some cilantro. We also ordered the garlic Parmesan chicken wings that came as plain fried wings. Very disappointed with Embers & not sure we will be returning. A few friends mentioned that they had been to Ember's after my experience & they were happy with the food. Because of this I took a chance & went back with some friends, the food was as good as I remember it to be when they first opened. All of us were very happy, & since then I ordered take out again & this time everything was perfect. I will continue to order & go to Ember's because of the great food. I am glad I gave them another chance!!! read more

Sadly after having been here months ago and the service and food going from great to bad I decided to give it another try and it was a BIG mistake. Not only did the service get worse but the food was horrible. This is my last time coming here. read more

Go to 933, best cocktails in Will County, nothing is close. Nick the bartender is great! I am going back Thursday.

This place used to be a chosen destination to eat & drink for our family. Over the last year or so, it has gone downhill in a hurry. Food is so so and service has been horrible in our last 5+ visits. Last night, the bartender told our friend that she "was not going to run her card 7 times" after she ordered a drink and wanted to pay with a card. Took over 15 minutes to get a drink at the bar. Tremendously rude and unwelcoming. We will never spend another dime at this place. Very unfortunate. read more

What a horrible experience! I used to be okay with how slow they are but come on....this is getting ridiculous. 30 minute wait turned into 50, we finally went to see if our table was ready and they forgot about us! They charged me for kettle one every time I asked for Smirnoff. Asked for separate checks (split by couples) and explained what food we had and still got random checks that made no sense. Food took another hour after finally being seated. Food was decent but not worth it. read more

Flavorful burgers- not huge, but enough. Bacon means bacon, no skimping here! Humble and young servers, which were very attentive and polite. Kids meal was good, State street patty melt delicious. Build your own burger was also good. Had a prime rib special tonight- almost unheard of with soup or salad, vegetable, potato and dessert for $25! The ONLY downside was the rap/bass thumping music, too loud and not conversation friendly- too bad, there were plenty of tables for families and the prices were family friendly. The music was geared toward a downtown dance club... very strange. Parking on the street in front is hit or miss, but plenty in back. Owner or manager checked in with us... felt welcome and appreciated! read more

First time here. Lunchtime with hubby. Place is big, clean and pretty nice overall. Great beer selection. Their sandwiches all sounded good so it was difficult to chose. I had a craving for a Cuban sandwich so I went with that, sweet potato fries. Hubby ordered the pesto wrap. Got some chips, salsa, beer while we waited. Salsa was more of a pico and was fresh and delicious. Sandwiches arrived. Forgot to take picture as we just wanted to eat. Better than good. Bread was crisp, pork delicious. Sweet potato fries were crispy, sweet, salty. Amazing. Hubby really enjoyed his wrap and fries. That was the food. Delicious. Now the service....Madi is her name. We remembered because she had a great personality, friendly, super attentive. She treated us like we were her only guests. We were not. Place was busy. Great service is always hard to come by. She is amazing and the reason we will return to Embers. Get there hungry people! read more

This place is awesome. I had the black and bleu burger and it was very good. Our bartender Kelly was very friendly and took good care of us. I also ordered the BBQ wings and they were probably the best BBQ wings I've had in a while. They don't fry them, they grill em. Superb!!! Definitely going again. Their on tap beer selection was outstanding as well! read more

Embers - Absolutely delicious. - Gastropubs Near Me - Lockport, Illinois

let me get started about this place, first of all there food is only okay its not even that good. Aaron the manager seems to always be drinking on shift whenever we eat there, along with bar manager brandon. very unprofessional also, there is a worldwide pandemic going on and i see them bring people in when thats against guidelines. i WILL be calling that highest person up read more

My boyfriend and I just randomly stopped there this evening for our first time.. our server Myranda was beyond amazing made us feel like old friends. She recommended the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer.. they were so delicious and the sauce with them was so yummy. We also ordered sweet potato fries.. and they were the best I have ever had. We literally devoured everything. But as we left due to the ice storm our car was stuck. Within minutes the managers came running out in tee shirts with salt and kitty litter and helped push us out. I can honestly say I have never been to a place with such amazing food and beyond amazing staff. Thank you so much for goin above and beyond. Yall have some incredible kind hearted employees!!! read more

I really love the feel of the place. They have a great rooftop space but then they just threw some white plastic patio furniture up there. The inside has a cool vibe with the exposed brick. The food is hit or miss. I have had some really yummy meals (the salmon) and some lack luster dishes (the wings). Service is really lacking. Every time we go, we seem to wait a LOT. It's close so we keep giving it a try. read more

Love love love their food! Such a great atmosphere! My favorite is the buffalo shrimp.

My wife and I ate her for a second time to give it another chance. The first visit was not the greatest but the server was nice enough and appoligized for wait time explaining they were a little short staffed. The most recent visit was very lousy. It took a half hour to get drinks, the appetizer came out with the meals and my meal was wrong. The server said sorry and hastily left with the meal. I assumed he was going to bring the correct order but instead he dropped the bill off and took the incorrect item off the bill. I stopped at a drive through on the way home : ( read more

We arrived at 2:30 PM on a Sunday. Was seated right away. Waited 10 minutes for someone to come to our table. She took our drink order and we waited 10 minutes for our soda. The beer was delivered in 2 minutes from the bar. After a few minutes went by I asked our waitress for an order of chips and salsa. She said she would "tell our server" but she was our server. A few minutes later saw chips and salsa come out and were delivered to another table and then sent back to the kitchen. Then it took about 10 more minutes and was finally asked what we wanted for food. At this point we decided to close our check and just leave. We had a great experience last time, but this time has been very poor. read more

We have been to embers several times and loved the food! The service was usually sluggish but we were in no hurry. So.... we head over there Friday night and the place is almost empty! We get a table and menu and bam!!! Where did the rest of the menu go??? They revamped the menu and all our favs were gone! So we spoke to server and she said new chef. She seemed disappointed as well. We got up and left. We had driven 25 minutes to get there and so disappointed that they have done this to this restaurant. Clearly, it has affected business since place was empty. Cool ambiance but sad they made doomed changes. Hope they can remedy this before it's too late! read more

The first time I stopped in was over summer. It was a beautiful night so we went to go sit in the outside seating. Waited about 15 minutes before menus were even brought. The waiters and waitresses kept walking past us and not even acknowledging that we were there. I grabbed the one girl after she was finished talking to her table and she told me the persons who section we were sitting in had been cut so we had to wait before she could grab someone for us (didn't even ask if we wanted water or anything to drink). At that point we just got up and walked out. The second time I came in I sat at the bar. The bartender, Maddy, was friendly and attentive. The breakfast burger is very good and they do have a variety of different craft beers to choose from. Have noticed the waitresses tend to huddle in a circle and gossip instead of checking on their tables. Would rather spend my money elsewhere. read more

This place is a joke .. To many chiefs not enough indians management deplorable Food is mediocre at its best and overpriced the only 5 star rating I would give is to the barmaid we had think her name was Katie despite all the chaos she gave top notch service. This place needs big changes read more

Accommodating staff, we were "young"seniors and requested a table away from the music speakers. Hate when you can't converse over loud music. We didn't wait long and not only were away from speakers but they turned the music down. We had a Rueben, brisket, lockport special, and steak sandwiches. Each one was excellent! Great food a d service! read more

We have eaten here before and I would consider food slightly above average. Most recent time we ate here for lunch, we were immediately seated, then waited almost 20 minutes just to get our order taken. Unfortunately only 1 server whom was trying her best, but seemed to me that during lunch rush (12:30) over the summer, you would need to supplement your staff?!? Never given water. Unfortunate that Lockport is so limited in restaurants that we were not left with many other options. When we arrived, there were about 10 small tables of people then by the time we were ready for food, only 5 tables still there. After 45 minutes of waiting, we decided enough was enough and told the manager we were leaving. I feel that she was going to charge me for the half a beer, glass of Coke, and milk we ordered until I suggested she should maybe eat the cost. Disappointed is an understatement. I want to like this place in the worst way but they make it very difficult to do so. Not sure how many more chances I can give this place. I refuse to recommend this place to friends and family when they come to the area to visit. My hope is a legitimate, well run brewery takes over this place since it has so much potential in an area that is screaming for a decent restaurant to throw their money at. read more

When Embers first opened we loved it. The food was excellent, portions generous, and service was generally good. We have been disappointed the past 3 times we have been here in 2017. The girls working the hostess desk are not overly friendly, the service is slow, and the food quality has dropped along with portion size. I don't know what has changed, but this is not the same place that we loved when it opened. There are better options outside of Lockport. read more

Gastropub? That seems aspirational at best, although wouldn't it be great if it were true because we'd love a gastropub in this area. The menu looks like every other sports bar you've ever been to in the Southland; chicken wings, flatbread, burgers..,I had the Brussels Sprouts appetizer which was a generous portion and a bit bland but not bad. My husband got a dinky $9 salad - "salad in a soup bowl" about sums it up. Nine bucks for a salad without any protein is a high-street price. Very basic, too expensive. Service - yikes, it's cheerfully incompetent. Bartender was spread way too thin, no management presence...this place could be great. But it isn't. Nice selection of beers on tap. Too pricey for basic food, mediocre atmosphere and lazy but cheerful service. They need to try harder. Or at least try. :( read more

Very good but very loud. Odd enough when someone walks too close to your table it feels like the back of your chair is being kicked. Food is good. I would go back. read more

We've been here a number of times. The food is okay. I don't expect it to be amazing considering it's a bar though. We've always had issues with beers on tap every single time we've gone. They're out of several drinks and isn't noted on the menus. We've also had multiple drinks where the keg isn't hooked up correctly and tastes so bad we've asked to have it sent back. The service is absolutely awful, with the exception of one or two times. The most recent time we went was 7/3. We stood in the doorway not greeted for several minutes and unsure if it was open seating. What we hoped for a quick dinner and beer turned into an hour and a half for two people. It's sad it's one of the only places in Lockport because that's the only reason I can think people keep going back. read more

Drink prices were really good and a food selection of draft beers. It was a really large open space that was good for large groups. Didn't have any food, but the service behind the bar was a little slow. Granted it was a Saturday night, but it did take me 10 minutes to order a Coors light bottle which is a little crazy. The staff just needed an extra hand helping. read more

Food is great. Atmosphere fun. I gave it 4 stars because the service is slow, however I'm hoping it's because this is a new restaurant and they will iron out all the kinks in the speed of service soon. read more

Atmosphere was nice, clean. Menu was not big, kids menu was only 3 choices. The kids chicken fingers was a large portion but the breading has a peppery spicy taste to it, most kids would not find appealing. My husband on the other hand would have preferred some of that spice in his fish and chips, which were slightly boring. Soup and salads were good, those were not boring. The burger was nothing exceptional and the chips were just ok too. A price was slightly higher than I think it was worth. Overall an ok place for lunch. read more

Good selection of beer on tap. The service is ok but could be quicker. The food is hit and miss. The Cubano sandwich was not that good but not horrible. The brisket melt was good but super messy. Just moved to Lockport one month ago and trying out new places.. I can already tell this will be my go to restaurant! Food is so so good and reasonably priced. I got the adult grilled cheese sandwich - two pieces of ale-fried thick bread with a creamy Dijon sauce, flavorful crisp bacon, and two types of cheese (it comes with tomato but I ordered without it). My mom got the pesto chicken wrap - grilled chicken with a creamy pesto sauce (very tasty and not heavy on the pesto) with red peppers.. I gave it a try and will definitely order it in the future! We got a few beers and enjoyed sitting on the rooftop patio. There was only about 2 other tables being occupied at the time (and several inside) but our service was pretty slow (only reason I took off a star) However, we didn't mind since we were enjoying the beautiful weather with a great view and atmosphere! And our server was great and super nice. Prices are fair and menu is large with many choices. I definitely found my new favorite restaurant. Will be coming back soon with my fiancé and friends! read more

Christian was great...made great suggestions from their extensive beer selection...brought several samples to try and just made the entire experience perfect. Been here a few times and never really had an issue. This review is really more about my 2 recent visits since it's been awhile since I've stopped by. The first time we went, it was actually a great experience. Food was pretty good, beer selection wasn't bad and can't complain about the service. Our server, Christian, was pretty attentive and didn't miss a beat. For a busy Saturday, that's a good thing. So kudos to Christian for making our experience a satisfying one. Now on to the second visit, overall still okay. Our server was friendly enough, but I felt like we waited a lot. Even getting bags for our take home took long. I think we waited at least 15 minutes just to get the bag. The only reason I didn't really mind was because I was still drinking the last of my beer. But the timing of everything was too long for what we needed. The food also took long and nothing to boast about. Cuban sandwich is just okay, Cajun pasta is eh, not really cajun. Salmon was a tad burn and the veggies that was with it was a tad too saucy for me. Would not order it again. Stuffed mushrooms we enjoyed as well as the potato skins. Would I go back, probably. They have a good beer selection and some of the items on the menu are pretty good. Just hoping that the service is consistent. read more
